Oh my!!! This was painful to read. The whole time I thought, why didn’t she just tell him the truth? But then so story. 😊
Author's reply
It's my belief that sticking to the truth is usually much the best thing to do - but in this case we would have missed all the fun ;-)

The general, I prefer this version of Aunt Ivriniel,. She’s often portrayed as dowagery and its most unbecoming. I like her best this way. Conspirator to her nieces and nephews. And I loved the line that The Prince of Dol Amroth suffered from the illusion that he ran his home and princedom. Funny.
Author's reply
I have to admit I've depicted her as a bit of a martinet myself at times (and had my fun with her). Though I do like this Aunt Ivriniel too. Since we know nothing about her from Tolkien's writing, she's like a blank slate.

I’m hooked. You’re such a great writer , I love that the stories get started right away, no long drawn out exposition or fluff. Down to the action, well in this case the sultry passionate meeting.
Author's reply
I too like jumping right into the story. Of course sometimes you need more explanations, but I believe that you can always add these later if the story is sufficiently gripping.

The bit with the snake was quite interesting. (I hate them.) I am curious about something. Why do people refer to reptiles and foul as animals when they are not?
Author's reply
Hi Tari,
I don't mind snakes myself actually (in our local zoo you're allowed to handle corn snakes and they're really quite interesting).
I don't quite understand your question though. Reptiles are animals, aren't they? Or did I misunderstand you?
Happy Reading!

What a lovely ending. Eomer with twin daughters. That calls for at least another son as back-up heir *g*. The scene with Eomer waiting with his son was so sweet. I loved it.
Good luck with your original story.
Author's reply
Hello obsidianj,
I'm sure Lothiriel will manage to talk Eomer into trying for that back-up heir ;-D
And thanks for the good wishes!

I'm kinda sad to see the end of this, its become one of my favorites, one I'll come back to again. Thank you for a delightful tale, of two strong, complex characters, very believeable, and likeable! I look forward to more tales from the "Beehive of Rohan"!
Author's reply
Hello walker-skye,
I always think it's a really nice compliment when a story is worth re-reading, thank you! And lol about the 'Beehive of Rohan'.

Indeed well named. And they're planning to blame it on her potent mead, are they? Heh! Now I'll have to open my bottle in the fridge and have a few ounces in honor of Eomer's daughters! At least there really are two this time! Heh!
A delightful tale, and good luck with the original story!
Author's reply
Hello Larner,
I hope you enjoyed your mead. Perhaps one day I'll write a sequel about how much trouble real twins can cause (as I'm sure they will).
Thank you for your good wishes and until next time!

Excellent! I am content. I was a wee bit afraid you were going to follow Tolkien's lead and do away with the delightful Gliwen.
Bless you for a great time of reading.
Author's reply
Hello Agape,
don't worry, I'm actually quite soft-hearted and I don't hurt my characters beyond the odd snakebite, near-drowning and orc attack ;-)

A lovely chapter. I loved the way Eomer handles his people and is handled by them. The easy love and respect between them. And that scene with the horses was just gorgeous. How they showed up out of the mist and the understanding they have. Just great.
Author's reply
Thanks! Tolkien described the Rohirrim's horses as mostly grey and I have this picture of them blending in with the mists. I'm pleased to hear you liked the scene!

I just loved the part about the horses. An auspicious omen that they take to Lothiriel .What a lovely bride gift from Eomer!

Have a nice Sunday!

I am a bad reviewer. I have read most, if not all, of your Lothloriel stories, and I love them. But this particular chapter inspired me to finally review. I loved the scene with the horses. They were such strong characters in such a short space. From the ones that were the lords and ladies to even the little colts peeking out to look at the people. That was such a well done scene. I loved it!
Author's reply
Hello picara,
thanks for reviewing, it's always nice to hear from a new reader. And I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed my stories! Though I'm not much of a rider myself, I love horses and always thought the Mearas must be very special indeed. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to have a scene with them in one of my stories.

So many lovely parts to this chapter! Their ease and synchronicity now that the air is cleared, the way Hild and the others have him so managed while giving him great respect and a fierce loyalty, the hopefulness of the people... And I don't think I've ever read such a wonderfully written interlude between a Lord of the Mark and the Mearas.
Absolutely delightful. :-)
Author's reply
Hello Lyana,
I really like horses - I think they're beautiful creatures - and the Mearas must be pretty special, so I really enjoyed writing about them. Glad to hear you liked it!

It appears that the stallion and the lead mare have things well in hand (or hoof), and have a good appreciation for the right thing to do at this point. Lovely!
Author's reply
Hello Larner,
the lead mare and stallion are eminently sensible, aren't they? More than a certain King of Rohan sometimes...

Hello Agape,
thank you! I've long wanted to write a scene with the Mearas of Rohan and this seemed the perfect opportunity. Also I enjoy coming up with Rohirric customs.

Finally, they get together. It took them long enough. But they are really a match. They have both crazy ideas. I just hope they take counsel with each other to weed out the most harebrained schemes.

Actually I've got somebody in mind who could give them expert advice on weeding out the worst schemes. A hint: she likes the colour pink ;-D What do you think?

*smile* A battle of wills. They are a stubborn pair. Let's hope they come to an agreement before Lothiriel succumbs to pneumonia ;-). They make the perfect couple. Poor Imrahil. Will they ever tell him the whole story?
Author's reply
No need to worry about pneumonia, although poor Amrothos has caught a horrible cold. The world is so unfair ;-) As for Imrahil, I don't think he'll ever get the complete, unvarnished truth, I'm afraid.

Uh, oh! That doesn't sound well. What will Eomer come up with? Lothiriel was brave. OTOH what else could she do? Waiting much longer would make it all worse. I hope for everyone involved that Eomer calms down enough for explanations soon.
Author's reply
By now you will have seen what Eomer's come up with. His temper tends to run away with him at times, but then that's half the fun of writing about him, at least for me.

I knew it. Something was bound to happen. It was too peaceful. Now they are truly caught. Are the riders aware who Gliwen really is? I got the feeling they are watching the show.
Author's reply
The riders think that Gliwen is Lothiriel in disguise, which is correct of course. It's funny really that they are quite right, unlike their better informed king.

The web gets more and more tangled. Lothiriel never stands a chance. She is falling for Eomer and he for her. They both seem to have an "official" and an "unofficial" persona. I liked the belt with the bees.
Author's reply
It's a shame they're not both twins, then they could match up their two cold and fiery personas. A double wedding ;-)
