They are pink arn't they and why do the seem to think that one-size-fits-all when it comes to gowns! Poor Finrod, he is not a happy camper is he, at least he is behaving himself for Findalaure's sake? I am eagerly looking forward to how this all works out, I think this chapter could have been twice as long and I still would have wanted more. Alex/Artemus is still conflicted but it looks like he is in full Artemus mode at the moment, I hope he can find his way back to Alex. More please, Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. They always seem to be pink, at least the ones I've seen. Finrod is indeed an unhappy (and embarrassed) Elf and methinks Glorfindel is enjoying his discomfort a bit too much. *grin* I'm glad you are looking forward to seeing how it all works out and we'll see soon enough if Artemus is able to find his way back to Alex or not. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it very much.

Sunny · 12 October 2012 · Chapter 78: The Next Day

I think Derek also needs to make his peace with Artemus...Alex is really a part of Artemus, though perhaps the best part, and a part that has not been allowed out to play very often. Vardamir really seems to be enjoying himself. It wouldn't surprise me if he decides to go through med school, just so that he can play with all those fascinating new toys! He seems like a little boy in a sweet shop with his pocket full of money. ;-) I see that Finrod is going to be a difficult patient. Though perhaps Findalaurë's plea has stemmed part of his "difficult" leanings. And a good thing - gunshot wounds are nasty, nasty things! I still think hs healers hare going to have their hands full. Tee-hee - did the nurses draw straws for the privilege of giving a sponge bath to their royal patient? I'm sure _they_, at least, enjoyed it! If any of the nurses know some Quenya or Sindarin, they are clearly getting quite a language lesson as a bonus!

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. You're right about Derek having to make peace with Artemus, which is hard because, until very recently, he has known only "Alex", who really doesn't exist. Vardamir is very happy to be doctoring again. I think over time many of the healers in Aman will be migrating back to Middle-earth so they can practice medicine again. As for the nurses, they probably have heard it all. I doubt Finrod is the first reluctant patient they've had to deal with and he won't be the last. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Rosealynn · 12 October 2012 · Chapter 78: The Next Day

I am enjoying this story very much and look forward to every Monday & Friday. Will Alex return soon. I am very interested in the inner conflict between the two sides to his character.

Author's reply

Hi Rosealynn. I'm so glad you've been enjoying this story and I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. One has to remember that "Alex" is nothing more than a disguise that Artemus has put on. "Alex" in fact is an act. Artemus has always been in control, but there are aspects of his personality that are dark and those parts are what Artemus as Alex hates and wants to get rid of so that "Alex" can be more real than Artemus, if that makes any sense. Anyway. we'll see who "wins" -- Alex or Artemus -- before the story ends.

galathil · 12 October 2012 · Chapter 78: The Next Day

I'm glad that everyone is all right."Dreamily" I wish I was giving Finrod his sponge bath, sigh. I do feel for the two nurses though. The next chapter is going to be interesting.PS glad this "Maddy" finally showed up.Finally hope Farrell gets what coming to him.LOL Galathil(Is it Monday yet?)

Author's reply

"I wish I was giving Finrod his sponge bath." You and every other female (and probably a few males) on the planet. LOL! The next chapter will be very interesting as you will see in a couple of days and it involves Maddy. We'll see what happens to Farrell soon enough. Thanks for leaving a review, Galathil. I appreciate it very much.

someone · 12 October 2012 · Chapter 78: The Next Day

What a traumatic experience for poor Finrod *grin*. I wouldn't want to switch places with him. Poor nurses, too, for having to listen to him. At least Vardamir is one happy elf when they'll teach him to use modern technology.

Author's reply

Hi someone. Yes, very traumatic. And having had the pleasure myself when I was in the hospital recently, I just had to give Finrod a taste of what I and every other patient endures. And Vardamir probably thinks he's died and gone to heaven even if he is an Elf. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

bookworm · 10 October 2012 · Chapter 77: Reactions

Tick tock goes the clock... Things are really starting to move to some sort of epic final confrontation it seems! Sorry for not reviewing for a bit, I've been too busy keysmashing at everything going on! Poor Zach & Derek! And hello to Artemus, it's been a while. Guns vs bows *shudder* that could have gone VERY nastily for the elves if there had been a hidden sniper or some such. And now Maddy, the Boss herself is in the field? The games afoot indeed.

Author's reply

Hi bookworm. Yes, we're coming down to the end of this story (though, as you will see, I leave it open for a possible sequel sometime down the road). Things could've gone much worse than they did. Hopefully, seeing someone like Finrod getting shot will clue in the Valinórean Elves that guns are far more dangerous than they think. And with Maddy in the field, the game is indeed afoot. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Clouded Leopard · 9 October 2012 · Chapter 77: Reactions

Oops! I think I hit a wrong button. Hope my review was deleted and not posted because I did not finish. Let me start again. Too much testosterone going around after the fight. Amroth took a chance, not a good idea or a smart move. He wasn't thinking clearly and all he got was a sore jaw and Glorfindel in his face, a very angry Glorfindel. I'm glad Stoner is on better terms with the elves then the last time they visited the hospital with Alex/Artemus. Finrod needs to not be stubborn when being treated now that he knows what a bullet feels like. Good that Derek and Zach are on the mend. Now that Maddy is on the scene and checked in to the Goldmine Inn, I wonder what Farrell left in the room by mistake that Maddy will find? Alex/Artemus needs to unwind after what he has been through. Being with the elves should be safe for him if and when he gets to Edhellond. Hope you had a nice Columbus Day weekend.

Author's reply

No problem, Clouded Leopard. People do that sometimes and either just add another review to complete their thought or I end up deleting the incomplete review. Anyway, as for this review... There was a lot of testosterone running loose and Amroth was trying to be noble, but as you say, all it got him was a very angry Glorfindel in his face and Finrod bleeding copiously. Finrod, of course, is unused to the idea of any Mortal treating hin and of course his only memory of Mortal medicine is ages out of date, so it's understandable how reluctant he is to being treated by them. He'll learn differently, of course. If Farrell left anything in his room, the maid would've cleaned it out long before this. I doubt Maddy was the next person to occupy that particular room; others may have done so before her. And Alex/Artemus definitely needs a little down time and being surrounded by Elves should help. Alas, we don't get Columbus Day off, or at least I don't, but I had a nice weekend all the same. Thanks and thanks for taking the time to read and review. It's very much appreciated.

Jay of Lasgalen · 9 October 2012 · Chapter 77: Reactions

Hmm. Am I the only one to think that Alex/Artemus won't reach Edhellond? What's going to happen en route?

Author's reply

Hi Jay. So far, you're the only one to voice this concern. You'll have to wait until Friday to find out if you have reason to worry. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I greatly appreciate it.

Larner · 8 October 2012 · Chapter 77: Reactions

They do begin their recovery now. Nice transition chapter. Hope Farrell doesn't somehow escape!

Author's reply

Yes, everyone has time to recover from this most recent crisis. I'm sure everyone will make sure Farrell doesn't escape. That's the last thing they need. Thanks for reviewing, Larner. It's much appreciated.

Agape4Gondor · 8 October 2012 · Chapter 77: Reactions

Seems like a lot of testosterone flying about lately. Hmm... do ellyn have testosterone? :-) So Maddy was 'drawn to Wiseman was she? Methinks I smell a Valar. Great chapter. Loved the emergency room. Also loved Finda's concern.

Author's reply

Very true, Agape. And I would think that ellyn would have testosterone else they would be ellith. *grin* As for Maddy... you may be right about that. Glad you liked the emergency room scene and Finda's concern. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.

someone · 8 October 2012 · Chapter 77: Reactions

Nice chapter, now the disaster is over (at least, I hope so, even if Artemus suggested that they would need more people watching over Finrod) and people are either recovering or otherwise safe. Finrod doesn't sound like a good patient, though. Interesting point about blood transfusion for the Elves. It's quite possible that human blood won't work. It's actually good that it was one of the "real" Elves who got shot and not either of the part human, part elven twins, that would have been even more difficult unless they could tolerate both human and elvish blood... Hard to guess what Maddy is going to do, but I'll be disappointed in her if she lets Farrel go without a trial.

Author's reply

Hi someone. Yes, the disaster is over with until the next crisis, of course. *grin*. And healers often make very lousy patients, so I'm not surprised at Finrod's attitude. one of my betas and I had a long discussion about transfusions when it came to Elves and how tricky that would be. As for Maddy... we'll just have to wait and see what she decides. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Fantasia · 8 October 2012 · Chapter 77: Reactions

Well, the aftermath. I'm curious about Farrell and Maddy, but I think that I can manage the waiting, I already survived all your cliffhangers. Yes, I'm very happy with Artemus now, more comfortable that it is him the one taking actions than Alex. Yeah, I wanted to punch Amroth as well, very heroic but very idiotic. And love the Twins' understanding, they have been always with Glorfindel, so they really know him very well. And Glorfindel is very mortal sometimes, punching Amroth doesn't strike me as very elvish method.

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. And Artemus is pretty much in his element here, as it's what he's been trained for after all. As for Glorfindel... I think his frustration just got the better of him with Amroth and decided to make his point in a very physical way. At least, Amroth (and the other Elves) got the message, which is the important thing. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I very much appreciate it.

Lyana · 8 October 2012 · Chapter 77: Reactions

Hmmmm... so Maddy was also drawn to Wiseman? I'm liking the sounds of that! We haven't seen much of her, but I'm betting she could also use a significant amount of restorative time. (And yes, I'm doing a happy dance at the suggestion of the possibility of this most enjoyable story becoming a trilogy!) Poor Finrod - well, he's in luck, because there are hundreds of Mortal languages from which he can add to his "colourful" repertoire. I'm glad to see that Dr. Stoner has come to value the counsel and skills of the Elves, that Derek and Zach are recovering and I'm very glad Glorfindel just about took off Amroth's head and isn't taking any chances with the baddies.

Author's reply

Hi Lyana. I think lots of readers are curious about Maddy being drawn to Wiseman and the why behind it, which we will learn about soon enough. And while I have left this story open to the possibility of a sequel, it will not be anytime soon. We'll have to see what the Muse has to say about it, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is one eventually. And poor Finrod indeed, as we will see soon enough. *grin* Derek and Zach will do well enough and Amroth had it coming, no doubt about that. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I greatly appreciate you doing so.

O.K. getting there, starting to dot tee's and cross eye's! I wonder what Maddie is up to, will she find anything incriminating in Ratty's old room or does the Goldmine have an excellant house keeping staff? What will happen to the 'guests' at the Inuit village, will they be 'rescued' any time soon? Just who has legal precident?111 Arrgh and I have to wait four whole days for the answers to these questions! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Yes, we're getting there, though there is still plenty of story left to tell. And I'm afraid you'll be waiting more than just 4 days to get all your questions answered and some may not be answered at all (which makes it a good excuse for yet another sequel sometime in the future *grin*). Thanks for reviewing, Lynda. It's greatly appreciated.

UTfrog · 8 October 2012 · Chapter 77: Reactions

Good bridging chapter. All safe. Now the legal fireworks begin. Thanks

Author's reply

Thanks, UTfrog. I'm glad you liked this. And yes, the legal fireworks will begin soon enough. *grin*

Sunny · 8 October 2012 · Chapter 77: Reactions

That was quite the confrontation Glorfindel had with Amroth. I can definitely understand his point of view, though, especially as Nimrodel might well have faded if Amroth had gotten himself killed. I suppose it is not easy to curse creatively when injured and in pain, since Finrod keeps repeating himself. I suppose this is a portent of what sort of patient Finrod is going to be. At a guess, his healers are probably going to be ready to kill him themselves just to get rid of the aggravation! I guess there have been some Maiar floating around in Washington and inspiring Maddie to make this quite uncharacteristic jaunt into the wilderness of Alaska. I guess there are going to be some surprises in store for her... Farrell is definitely in deep sh*t and sinking fast, considering the number of people who want his hide.

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. Your analysis of the situation is fairly accurate. We'll see how it all plays out over the course of the next several chapters. While this story is winding up, it's not quite over and there is much that will happened before the end. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

Agape4Gondor · 7 October 2012 · Chapter 76: Endgame

Well and good. Everyone accounted for. Now - on to the question of how to deal with and what to do with Farrell. If they can find Mt. Doom, my vote is to cast him into the fiery pit. *g* I loved the conflict between Michaelson and Maddy. I think, in the long run, that Homeland Security has authority over most anything / anyone. However, I cannot but give authority to Finrod. But I'm prejudiced. Yes, he is a foreigner in a foreign land, so to speak, but the grievance is against him and those he loves. In some lands, the victim is given the right of judgment. I think it's that way in Valinor, too. I'm sure that's not what will happen, but that's my vote. As for the entire lot, except Maddy and her employees, I think they all could use a long vacation with Este. Just my humble opinion.

Author's reply

Hi Agape. While Maddy certainly has the weight of authority, she's on shaky ground and Michaelson won't let her get away with things, not in his jurisdiction. At the same time, Finrod, being Finrod, has a lot of clout. We'll see how it all works out. At the moment, he's going to be too busy getting an insider's view of a Mortal hospital and he's not going to like it, at all, at all. *grin* And I think even Maddy could use a long vacation with Estë, or at least a slice of her 'homemade' pie. LOL! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I greatly appreciate it.

obsidianj · 6 October 2012 · Chapter 75: Elves to the Rescue

Yay! The rescue team arrived and got Zach and Derek out of harms way. I would have loved to see the expression of the guy who discovered that the prisoners had vanished. So, Farrell's motif is revenge, but why are the others helping him. They don't even raise an eyebrow when Farrell admits that the killing order is fake. Loved the children's game to figure out who goes with Glorfindel. Although, it might seem inappropriate at such a time. But these are elves ;-).

Author's reply

Hi obsidanj. We'll find out why the others have been going along with Farrell in all this soon enough. And, as you say, these are Elves, and they don't do things quite the same as we. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

obsidianj · 6 October 2012 · Chapter 76: Endgame

Woa, that were more people to the rescue than expected. Finally, Maddy showed up, only to muddle the waters more. Finrod's bringing in Valinor law was a nice twist, but Michaelson is right, this is not Valinor and humans have the say. Finrod needs to adjust his attitude. How they all get out of this fix without angering one or more of all involved, I leave to you. Can't wait for Monday.

Author's reply

Hi obsidanj. There's quite a mess here on several levels. We'll be seeing how they figure it all out over the next several chapters. Thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate it very much.

someone · 6 October 2012 · Chapter 76: Endgame

Poor Finrod! At least the Valinor Elves know now what kind of damage the bullets make. Alex' plans of trying to make Maddy believe that Amroth is not Ambrose won't work now. I wonder what Maddy is going to think of the Elves who have invaded Alaska...? Luckily the next chapter is coming in just two days, I can hardly wait.

Author's reply

Hi someone. Yeah, Finrod has learned the hard way about guns and bullets. Now maybe the other Elves won't be so cocky about things. As for Maddy and what she thinks of all this, we'll learn soon enough. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Sunny · 6 October 2012 · Chapter 76: Endgame

Not a good day for young Finda - he has been kidnapped, along with his friends, been flung into a dark cellar, escaped into the teeth of a storm, seen his friends be captured again and heard them be tortured, and now his atto has been injured! So now Maddy has popped onto the scene. I, too, wonder where she has been all the time that Alex couldn't get in contact with her. And now she wants to let Farrell and his goods off the hook. Said goons has a lot to answer for, though - kidnapping, torture, assault, assaulting _cops_ and murder. I don't think the local police are just going to let them walk. But I also don't see them let Finrod just take over. Finrod, and the reinforcements from Valinor, need to get it through their heads that this is not Nargothrond or Valinor, and that they have to let the legal representatives of the law deal it. I can't say I'm surprised at Alex turning his back on the Agency, in the person of Maddy, but I think that both he and Amroth will have to make some sort of deal with it.

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. No, it's not been a good day for Finda or anyone else for that matter. Maddy showing up is a real surprise for all and we'll see what that portends soon enough, as well as how successful Finrod is in getting his day in court, even if it's his court. As for Alex and Amroth... that remains to be seen as well. Thanks for commenting. It's always appreciated.

Clouded Leopard · 5 October 2012 · Chapter 76: Endgame

It would seem trying to get away from the elves will be a useless act on Farrell and his crew. They are babes in the woods when it comes to survival unlike the elves who have had several millennium behind them. They don't have a chance. Talk about a lot of pissed off people in this chapter (i.e.- Alex/Artemis, the elves, Dave and Karl, Farrell). Maddy seems to be taking this calmly. When did she lose all control over this with the local law (grin). Wonder if she ever did get or have any control over the Wiseman Law Enforcement. Oh well. When it comes to charges against Farrell and the gang, I hope they don't forget about the attack on the jail with the gas and sending all those officers to the hospital. What comes around goes around as I say. Can't say that I blame Alex for walking away from Maddie. And the way I see it Ambrose is dead and should stay dead. Maddy should leave it alone period. Hope to see the next chapter Monday. Have a nice long weekend everyone.

Author's reply

Hi Clouded Leopard. There are indeed a lot of pissed off people here. Maddy is a professional and will act accordingly. Also she knows she's on thin ground here, the lone outsider against everyone else. Dave and Carl may not like the Elves at this moment with their arrogance, but they'll defend them against strangers any day of the week. We'll see what happens with Farrel and his goons. They're not going to get away scot-free, I promise. And you're right that "Ambrose" is dead and should be left that way. Amroth certainly has no plans on resurrecting him. Have a great Thanksgiving holiday and Monday's chapter will be waiting for you whenever you get the chance to read it. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. It's much appreciated.

Monalex · 5 October 2012 · Chapter 76: Endgame

Aparently is now time to complain about the elves AGAIN, hahahahaha, really they are quite unbelievable they think THEY the elves rule the world!!!! I mean what part of "The times of the elves are past, the age of man began..." didn't they understand???? Also supposedly they are "trying" to integrate themselves to OUR world, but I don't see them trying at all, they still impose their will first and then that of the majority (mortals). I mean I am complitely in agreement with Dave, who exactly do they think they are??? Also who does Finrod think he is to claim right of judgement???? It's like "Finrod, sweethart this is not Norgrathrond or Valinor, where your word has the backing of the Goverment... I hope Dave doesn't let himself be bullied be this overarrogant elves...!!!! Also how sweet (note the sarcasm) that they think pistols don't have the reach that bows and arrows have... I hope one they Alex/Artemus introduces them to a sniper and will see which is more useful... and if you put a silencer in their hand pistols they won't even hear or see a bullet comming... so innocent, they really should let the mortals teach them about war in this age... so they can evolve and see the many uses and achivement meremortals made in the art of war. I mean Alex/Artemus can incapacite any of the great Elven warriors from the "Great" Valinor with just his hands!!!!! How cool and useful is that?????!!!! Take that you arrogant Elves!!!! XD Great Chapter in all, I hope in the future they learn to view mortals as equals in abilities, when in this case it is quite obvious their superiority, which I bet Finrod is now feeling and learning...

Author's reply

Well, Monalex, what can I say? The Elves haven't learned to play nicely with others yet, but I have no doubt that the Mortals will enjoy teaching them the rules. *grin* And the Elves have learned a valuable lesson about the dangers of modern weaponry seeing their beloved leader getting shot, even if by accident. I don't think Dave will allow anyone to bully him, as we see by his attitude here. I'm glad you liked the chapter, though. And we'll see how Finrod endures being doctored by Mortals. He has no idea what's in store. *grin* Thanks for commenting. I much appreciate it.

Lyana · 5 October 2012 · Chapter 76: Endgame

So Maddy's finally on the scene, is she? Time for everybody to get some answers! I'm very curious to hear her explanations and just who's been working behind the scenes. I'm very sorry for Finrod to have to gain first hand experience with the discomfort caused by modern weaponry, but I'm guessing all the Elves from Valinor will now have a better understanding of the danger of firearms and for the younger ones, the nastiness that humans can dish out (poor Zach - he'll need a good long recovery time.) That young ER doctor has quite an opportunity to broaden his experience; something tells me he didn't learn about arrow wounds in Med school! I feel the most for Carl and Dave - what a soup to end up in! Glad to see them holding their ground. They still have to find their feet with the new order of things too.

Author's reply

Hi Lyana. We'll learn more about Maddy over the next several chapters. And Finrod is just damn lucky that the bullet didn't hit him in the heart or he would be having a very unpleasant chat with Lord Námo and no one would be happy. Carl and Dave have the law behind them and they have every right to hold their ground. The Elves are clearly out of line as is Maddy, all of the throwing their weight around. On the other hand, they know that things are different with the Elves around so they try not to take it too personally, but I don't blame them for being a bit pissed off right now. Anyway, thanks for reading and reviewin. I appreciate you doing so very much.

Tari · 5 October 2012 · Chapter 76: Endgame

Methinks Alex just might resign from the FBI and remain with the elves. That is my hope anyway.

Author's reply

Oh, I have no doubt he'll resign from the Agency, Tari. We'll see what happenes as we wind this story up. Thanks for the reivew. It's much appreciated.
