Only for you would I even dream of running so late, but seeing that you had the new chapter posted, I just had to read it through quickly. I love that they elves are speaking Sindarin at the mansion, although they are still mentioning names and those would stick out of the recording. Alex would know, if he really listened, that he was a topic of discussion. Mr Ferrell is a loose cannon and will bear some serious looking at, and who sent those pictures? That's a major question. I love that Glorfindel is feeling the influence of both the Valar and the Maiar. Thanks for a nice, if late, start to my day :-) - Erulisse (one L)

Author's reply

Hi Erulisse. I hope you weren't too late. *grin Yes, if he had bothered to listen to all of the conversation between Glorfindel, Amroth and Elrohir, he would'be been surprised to hear them speaking his real name. Luckily, that didn't happen. Mr. Farrell is indeed a loose cannon and will play an important role in the story as it progresses. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I appreciate you doing so.

I really wonder who is in charge of the movie nights at the Academy. They seem as spot on as they were in the first story! It has for some reason been hard to start reviewing this one, but this lurker should be back now. :) This story has turned out well, and I especially loved Daeron's singing in the earlier chapter.

Author's reply

Hi Siiw. I'm gald you are enjoying this story, especially Daeron singing. And I have no idea who's in charge of the movie nights, but they seem to know just what movie should be shown, don't they? *grin* Thanks for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it.

Tari · 21 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

If Alex knew who he was dealing with, he would not have been so cocky. Of course the elves knew he was there. Why has no one told him the truth about the elves anyway? Surely it is no big secret. He must be the only one who doesn't know.

Author's reply

Hi Tari. As I said in response to your last review, only certain people know about the Elves. Alex isn't the only one in the dark about them. None of the students presently taking the classes are aware that some of the instructors are Elves. Eventually, some of them wil be told as they are recruited for the larger purpose of preparing for the Final Battle, whenever that might occur. I hope that clears things up for you. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate you do so very much.

someone · 21 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

A great chapter! I really enjoyed when Alex saw the contents of the envelope and decided to bug Edhellond... Things are getting even more interesting! Poor spy, he doesn't have a clue how difficult a mission this is; no matter how good he is at his work, there are elves who are even better than he.

Author's reply

Hi someone. I'm glad you really liked this chapter, especially the part with Alex going through the envelope and then deciding to bug Edhellond. And you're right, the poor guy hasn't a clue just how difficult an assignment he's been given. Nothing is as it seems, and that's the first lesson of espionage, which he has apparently forgotten. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it very much.

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 21 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

Atto, Aha, so Alex is interested in Nicole, is he? But if she's already got a boyfriend...lol. I see trouble ahead. Also, I wonder what's going to happen with that electronic bugging he did...somehow I don't expect Alex will get away scot-free on that count, Atto. And Caleb is still adorable and I still want to keep him. Or at least borrow him. =) Tye-melin! Kaylee

Author's reply

Hi Kaylee. There may be trouble ahead. We'll just have to wait and see. And we'll see what the Elves do with regards to the bugging in the next chapter. As you guess, Alex won't get away with it completely. Thanks for commenting, Kaylee. Tye-melin.

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 21 February 2012 · Chapter 10: Discussions

Atya, Caleb is the cutest thing ever, except for not being an elfling. *grin* Can I keep him? =D So, Nicole's got a boyfriend, does she? Most interesting. I wonder how that's going to turn out, lol. I love this story!! Tye-melin, Kaylee

Author's reply

Hi Kaylee. Sorry. Caleb's already taken. *grin* And as Alex pointed out earlier, sexual relationships usually don't work out and can prove very dangerous to people engaged in espionage. He may be attracted to Nicole, but he knows (or thinks he knows) there's no future in it. I'm so glad you love this story. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it. Tye-melin.

Lizbeth · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

Oops, that review wasn't finished yet! I'm sorry, I'm working on a laptop and I must have accidentally pressed enter or brushed against the touchpad. As I was saying, I can't believe Alex went and did that! I am so glad it didn't go unnoticed. Hopefully this will drive Amroth to confront his student-gone-awry, and soon. I loved the historical references, despite the problems they create for the elves! It's hard to imagine just how much they have experienced over the ages. "Seeing" it in relation to "real" events makes it easier to grasp.

Author's reply

No problem, Lisbeth. These things happen. I've taken the liberty to remove the other review since it was incomplete. We will see what steps are taken by the Elves now that Alex has made a move. I'm glad you liked the historical references. It was fun to imagine what certain Elves were doing in earlier eras and how they may have blended in. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I appreciate it very much.

Tari · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 10: Discussions

Did I miss something? I don't remeber reading anything about the elves revealing who they really are before. There seems to be more to Alex than just spying on Amroth.

Author's reply

Hi Tari. I'm not sure where your confusion lies. Naturally the Elves revealed themselves to the people of Wiseman at the end of part one, but they haven't revealed themselves to the students in this present class, which includes Alex and Derek. When Glorfindel mentions being old, the students around him think he's merely joking, since he appears (to them) to be no older than they are. And there's always more to my characters than what is seen on the surface. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Larner · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

He has a lot to learn about the abilities of his teachers, doesn't he? Heh! Seeing one of his teachers standing next to Howard Carter must have been quite a shock! And love that Glorfindel and the twins were all medics during WWII. Suits them well!

Author's reply

He certainly does, Larner, and learn he will, eventually. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

Kitty · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

Maybe Alex should read ahead in his history book, too, he might encounter some familiar names ... ;) Alex interested in Nicole? *raises eyebrow* Now that would be a surprising turn of events. And maybe a good excuse for Alex to quit his old job and get a new one around the Academy, if he comes to his senses. Now I am wondering if that movie holds some foreshadowing for Alex. I get the feeling he's not that happy as a spy any longer and would be much happier to stay in Wiseman, really. That envelope certainly proved interesting! I'm beginning to feel sorry for Alex, this is just too confusing for him! I guess if they found one of them on such an old photo, that could maybe be explained with an unusually close family similarity, but three of them at the same time? No way. Can't wait to find out what conclusions he's going to draw from that when he's over his shock. During Alex's time in the garden, I was always waiting for one of the Elves to show up and just surprise him. Well, they didn't, but obviously they still watched him. Somehow I would have been surprised if they hadn't noticed that there was someone who wasn't supposed to be there. I wonder if that will finally kick Amroth into action?

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. Maybe he should. *grin* As for Alex and Nicole... we'll have to see. As Caleb pointed out, she does have a boyfriend already. And the movie may have some foreshadowing for Alex but that remains to be seen. We'll see in the next chapter what the Elves do with regards to the electronic bugging and Alex. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

njomo · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

Hi Fiondil. I just wanted to let you know that I still read every word you write--well at least everything you post here, though I don't always have time to comment. I appreciate your dependable updates--they really make my day, and I know I'm not alone in saying they have brightened many a dull or worrisome day for me. I'm enjoying the developments so far in EA2. But what I'm dying to know is this. Who left the envelope? Who dunnit?! Friday can't come soon enough, though I know that doesn't mean I'll get the answer to my question. You're a master at getting a reader hooked--but I know you will reveal all in time. I just need to cultivate some [more] patience!

Author's reply

Hi njomo. I'm glad you are enjoying the developments of this story. As for who left the envelope, that will probably remain a mystery. Remember, Alex's boss said she would have other agents in the area, so any of them could've been the messenger. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it and I look forward to any reviews you are able to leave in the future.

Soledad · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

Well - so, Artemus took over again. Too sad. And I was getting hopes for him and Nicole Lord! :( But I guess, once a spy, always a spy - unless Ilúvatar has different plans for him. And now I'm burning with curiosity who Barry Underwood might be.

Author's reply

Hi Soledad. Yes, well, he is a spy, after all, As for him and Nicole... most likely not, since Nicole already has a boyfriend, but you never know. Stranger things have happened) And Barry Underwood is of course Barahir, one of the Sindarin Elves who showed up in Wiseman at the end of part one. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Kitty · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 10: Discussions

Oh, it's nice to see Caleb and his Mum again. That little boy was – and is – such a cutie! I'm glad to see that they have still such a close relationship with the Elves. Interesting that he reminds the three Imladris Elves of Estel. Who knows, maybe he's a descendant of him? And besides, he *is* as special as Estel was. How many Mortals have meet the Elder King and the Lady Varda, after all, and even sat on his lap? Glad Elrohir finally found love after all these many long ages of the world. He deserves the happiness. And it's good to know that Elladan is okay with it and has his own fun. Hm ... maybe Glorfindel should be careful in saying he and Daeron are too old for such nonsense. Never say never! Fate could have other ideas, after all ... or the Valar, for that matter. They love to annoy our favourite balrog-slayer, after all ;) Yeah, I can so see these ministers coming and getting strange ideas about the Elves, and at least partly probably with the idea to use them for their own purposes. Typical for any faiths. It was inevitable that some of them would leave in enmity, but I am glad that at least some are able to accept the Elves, even at the price of being ostracized by their narrow-minded fellows. Nice how all the adults play along with little Caleb. I'm sure he enjoys it, particularly after losing his father. And it will help Nicole to have people who care for her. As for Zach, he has an amazing insight into Alex, though he barely knows him. Obviously he senses that there's more to him and how dangerous the 'spy personality' can be. I'm impressed with his perceptiveness. And he noticed this obsession with Amroth, too ... Well, I am not totally sure how that will go if he befriends Alex not solely out of his own free will, but we'll see. Glorfindel hopefully knows what he is doing. Though I have to agree with Daeron; Amroth should confront Alex soon, before things get out of hand. Not knowing what to think has a bad influence on Alex.

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. Glorfindel should be wise enough not to make such blatant remarks, since you never know who may be listening. *grin* And sadly, people invest themselves so heavily into a certain mindframe as to how the universe must go, that they can't see or allow for alternative interpretations that are equally as valid as theirs. Bigotry is endemic to the human condition, but I think religious bigotry is the worse. And Zach is pretty cool. It was not accident that he became Glorfindel's roommate when the two of them were at Elf Academy together. He was meant to become Glorfindel's assistant. We'll see how things progress from here. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I very much appreciate it.

Kitty · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 9: Tuesday Night at the Blue Petrel

Alex is so lucky. I'd really love to see a demontration of Elrohir's skill with the bow for myself *wistful sigh* Sarah? Does that mean Elrohir is in love? Now that would be good news! Here I had hoped Alex had recovered a bit, but instead he had a breakdown? Poor guy. And he probably can't explain in any way why he reacts so strange. (Neither can I, for that matter). This assignment is really messing with his head and emotions. Glad Elrohir was so understanding and comforting; I guess he needed it. Hm, Alex is not the first one to react so strongly? Odd. So far I had put it down to his background as agent, which has to be rather stressful. But now I have to reconsider that. Elrohir has a point; history is never entirely correct, seeing as mostly the victors write it. If you read many different versions from many different sources, they will all be different, even if they describe the same event. Everyone writing a record will make himself look good and the enemy bad, after all. As for languages – of course they were invented at one point in time. We are still inventing new words, after all, and older ones vanish or the meaning changes over the decades. Alex should know that if he enjoys languages so much. Now I am slightly jealous of Alex. I so wish I could have been there at the Blue Petrel and witnessed Daeron and the others sing as well. It must be beautiful and feel like an otherworldly experience to listen to a song that gives one these images.

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. As Elrohir said, Wiseman has a way of changing people. Of course, he's speaking about the influence of the Elves and Maiar who are there, though Alex is unaware of this, so he uses himself as an example that Alex can relate to, i.e., falling in love. And history is nothing more than other people's lies about themselves, so those who dismiss alternative interpretations of things generally miss the point. And everyone is jealous of Alex and the others to be able to hear Daeron sing and not really appreciate what they are hearing and from whom. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Kitty · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 8: Making Amends

That's really more and more looking like Alex's burnt out and needs a break. I am glad Gil followed him and brought him to that place in the wood; it had such a calming influence on Alex. Not that it lasted very long *sigh* Gil has a point. Most fairy tales and other old stories have at least a true core, no matter how distorted they became over the centuries. So, why should Elves not exist or have existed at one time? I for one am only too willing to believe they could! Good to see Zach again, I had missed him. He was one of my favourites in the first part.

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. Most likely you're right about Alex's burnout. And everyone is glad to see Zach back. He was a lot of people's favorite from the first part (including me *grin*). Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

6336 · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

Alex/Artemus does seem to have an affinity for trees, I wonder if they have affected him before or is it just since he came to E.A.? How come Alex just got the raw data and not an analysis of it, or does he prefer to do his own research? Somebody must have done a lot of digging to find those photos, way to go internet, it does have some uses. (Apart from Fan Fic!) So Alex has gone into spy mode has he, he's going to try spying on the Elves is he, I think this is a 'Go teach your Grandmother to suck eggss' kind of situation, Elves, or some of them, being the best scouts/spys out ther! They know exactly where that bug is, all they have to do is speak in Quenya and he is going to be totally lost! This is coming along nicely. Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. I think Alex just got the raw data because he prefers to do the analysis himself and actually, none of the data would make sense to someone in D.C. who wasn't right there dealing with these people. At any rate, Alex will be disappointed in his efforts to actually figure out what's going on as we will see. I'm glad you are enjoying this story. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

Kitty · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 7: History Lessons

Interesting that Alex felt so comforted by the trees. There may be hope for him yet ;) How can Alex speak Sindarin if it doesn't exist? *grin* Our dear spy needs some lessons in logic. Of course it exists, or he couldn't use it! I was never into espionage thriller, but I think you have to be a bit of a lone rider for that job, and I guess it's not so surprising that Alex enjoys the feeling of being accepted in the group; it's a feeling he probably can only seldom enjoy. LOL – I was just imagining Alex's face when that boy told him that Elves live in that house. Poor guy, he must beginning to wonder if they are all crazy ... I really like Derek, he's a nice guy and Alex should consider himself lucky that he got him as a roommate and friend; not everyone would accept him and his strange behaviour so easily. Hm ... so Alex wants to leave as soon as he has figured out if Ambrose is a threat to him? Somehow I rather suspect he will be surprised to find himself in over his head with this Elf Academy in one way or another long after this course is over. *shakes head* For a spy, he really is not paying much attention to what is going on around him! And when he does, he has to put the foot in his mouth again, questioning everything. Really, even I would be less conspicuous as a spy! I'm beginning to wonder if it's just the presence and aura of the Elves, or if Alex is beginning to show signs of burnout syndrome and needs a break from his job. Yeah, convincing the Agency that the Academy is no threat might be even harder than to get through that ACCU. I hope they don't cause too much trouble – they can't disrupt this wonderful Academy, after all! That would definitely be a school even I would enjoy.

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. Well, technically speaking (from Alex's pov), Sindarin does exist, in that, he and others are speaking it, but at the same time, he does not recognize it as a legitmate language, such as French or Swahili, and so it can't really exist as a bona fide language. For him, it's on par with made up languages that children engage in but obviously on a more sophisticated level. By rights, the language shouldn't exist at all and that's what confuses him. I'm glad you like Derek. There's a lot to like about him and while he doesn't play a major role in the story he is definitely a supporting character and a nice foil for Alex. And Alex may also be suffering from burnout on top of being subtly influenced by the Elves and others. It does happen. As for the ACCU, we'll see how that goes soon enough. Thanks for commenting. I am very grateful for you taking the time to do so.

Kitty · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 6: Field Trips and Nature Walks

Sorry for the late review, had computer problems. Alex is really very convinced that he couldn't be recognised. He may underestimate Ambrose there, from the looks of it, despite having been taught by him. Ah, that song about Rudolph ... reminds me of EA1. Somehow the Elvish version was more fun :) Our dear Alex is jealous of Derek? Well, he should remember that even a good agent can't be perfect at everything. And animals can be quite a challenge. I wouldn't be too surprised if the reindeer just noticed that he's distracted and took advantage of it. We both know that horses are like that, too. Hm, I can see that Gil's career is a bit strange as well – building log homes doesn't have much to do with teaching languages, after all. No wonder Alex is confused. But did he have to say that to Gil after the lesson? *sigh* Really, for someone who supposedly signed up for the Academy out of his own free will, he's questioning too much. Derek's beginning to wonder already, and I think a successful spy should avoid standing out in this way and drawing attention to himself. When Alex noticed how the tree moved out of Glorfindel's way, I had a sudden image of Thranduil walking by and the trees not only giving way to him, but bowing slightly to him – that would freak poor Alex out! Now that's interesting that Alex reacted to the tarn so strongly. Not sure if I should be surprised or not; never imagined a spy much in tune with nature, but of course, they should probably have a feeling for things out of the ordinary or out of order.

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. No problem. Glad to see you back online. Well, Alex isn't perfect and jealousy can strike anyone for any reason. And we will see in a future chapter that Alex acting as he is (i.e., not quite under cover), is due to outside forces who shall remain nameless.*grin* I like your image of the trees bowing to Thranduil. That would definitely freak me out, never mind Alex. LOL! And as a spy, Alex would need some degree of sensitivity or intuition that is higher than the norm in order to survive in the Game. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

UTfrog · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

Loved this chapter. Good background on various elves. Don't know the date you had in mind for Glorfindel's time in California, but I would love to see a drawing, the more explicit the better, of him as a 1960's golden surfer dude! I am sure the bikini babes al had good dreams. Alex and Nichole? Like it.

Author's reply

Hi UTfrog. I'm glad you love the chapter and the background on some of the Elves. And I'm afraid you'll have to use your own imagination with regards to Glorfindel being a glden surfer dude. LOL! Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Sunny · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

That package of photos certainly blew Alex' mind! So he has decided to take action. _Sneaking_ into Edhellond to plant bugs, whose inhabitants have much sharper senses than him, and any of whom have _forgotten_ more about sneaking than Alex has ever dreamed there would be to that subject! If this doesn't prod Amroth into action, I don't know what will! (Not that Alex would have known that any of them - except for Amroth, of course - were such experts on sneaky stuff. But there you go...) *smirks* So you have Glorfindel and the Twins were in the medical branch of the Army during WW2. Makes sense - none of the Elves would have wanted to be caught up in human squabbles. The pressure for any able-bodied male to join up during that time would have been very great, so the three of them decided on a military branch that would have let them do something constructive and save lives instead of killing. Excellent logic here, Fiondil! And has Cupid done a bit of target-shooting here? If Alex gets his head straightened out, I do think a family would be good for him. :-)

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. Well, as you say, he doesn't know he's up against people who have had millennia of experience being sneaky, so we have to make allowances. *grin* And it seemed logical that Glorfindel and the Twins would've wanted to help in the war in some manner even if they decided not to join in the battles themselves and being part of the army medical corps was a logical decision on their part. As for Cupid... we'll have to see. For Alex, it's not an option at this time, but you never know. Thanks for taking the time to comment. It's very much appreciated.

Erulisse (one L) · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

Yes, our modern age of photographs make the life of an immortal a bit more fraught with problems. I love the fact that you had one of the group at King Tut's tomb, and having Glorfindel with the Twins in the medical corp in WWII - I seem to recall that glossed over before in an earlier chapter, perhaps in EA1. I breathed a sigh of relief to know that what Alex did was noted, although I figured that in some fashion the inhabitants of the house would have been told. Thanks for starting my week out on a high note. - Erulisse (one L)

Author's reply

Hi Erulisse. It does make things dicier for Elves living in the modern world and I'm having fun in finding ways to make things tougher for them than it would've been centuries earlier. *grin* I'm glad this chapter gave you a lift. Thanks for taking the time to let me know. I appreciate it very much.

harrowcat · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: Decision

Oh Alex! Many small steps forward now one ginormous leap back. You make me so sad. But I am also wondering about the accreditation inspection that is still looming.

Author's reply

Hi harrowcat. Yes, Alex does seem to be going backsliding a bit. We'll see what happens with the accreditation inspection beginning with the next chapter. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

obsidianj · 18 February 2012 · Chapter 10: Discussions

Caleb has grown and it seems he is pretty fluent in Sindarin already. Did Alex notice? It is not nice to put Zach on the spot and have him "spying" on Alex, even in a friendly way. Alex and Ambrose need to have their past out in the open. It is not healthy for both of them I think. The longer they're are sneaking around each other, the more the situation festers. I don't want to be there for the explosion if it goes on too long.

Author's reply

We'll see if Alex noticed Caleb's fluency in Sindarin or not in the next chapter. Glorfindel has indeed put Zach on the spot, but I think Zach can handle it. Daeron, is of course, correct that Amroth has to confront Alex sooner rather than later or the situation will go south real soon and real fast and someone will get hurt in the process. We'll see in what fashion Alex and Amroth have thier "show down" soon enough. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

obsidianj · 18 February 2012 · Chapter 9: Tuesday Night at the Blue Petrel

Alex is close to breaking. I just hope he will not run away when it becomes unbearable or that he turns on the elves. I would love to be able to listen to Daeron giving a performance. Alas, I have to be content to live in a world without elves.

Author's reply

Hi obsidianj. We'll see what happens to Alex soon enough. He may be close to breaking but he's not there yet. I know what you mean about having to be content to live in a world without elves, but it's nice to believe in their possibility. I think that helps make the world just a little more 'magical'... the possibility that there might indeed be Elves somewhere, even if not in our world. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

I do hope Amroth gets a move on with dealing with Alex. I dread what might happen if Artemus/Alex decides that he's somehow dangerous. And Caleb has definitely become a cutie. And Glorfindel is reminded of Aragorn as a child, is he? The name fits well enough! Heh!

Author's reply

We'll see what happens with Amroth and Alex soon enough, Larner. Caleb certainly is a cutie, but they usually are at that age. Thanks for commenting. It's very much appreciated.
