Well, it certainly took Elrohir long enough to make the all-deciding step. *g*
It's nice to see that things are improving, even though I always have the nagging feeling that you're only luring us into false safety before the other shoe drops. Anyway, nice chapter, I especially liked Alex using his training in the snowball fight.
Author's reply
Hi Soledad. I'm sure all the Elves are relieved that Elrohir finally stepped up to the plate, as the saying goes. Babies and weddnigs. You can't beat them.
Things are improving for them, but that doesn't mean they're out of the woods yet. As for how are the other shoe will drop, we'll have to see.

Poor Glorfindel, his friends aren't going to let him live that down any time soon, will they? *grin* I even could be a tiny little bit envious of Patty ;) Coming to think of it, can I claim to be cold and needing to gravitate towards his body heat (or one of the twins) when we have 25 degrees Celsius – plus, of course? *whistles innocently*
Looks like they finally convinced Elrohir to ask for the hand of his beloved. Good :) With Glorfindel telling him that the parents want it, too, there's really no need to hesitate any longer.
Building snow forts and making snowballs for a nice fight sounds like a good idea to stave off cabin fever – which will break out soon, no doubt, if they can't keep them otherwise too busy to miss their electronic toys and all that stuff.
Oh, glad they have at least one generator back up running again; that should help a bit. And it was good to know how things are overall. Medical help sounds good, too, I don't like how much the twins are exhausting themselves to keep the situation under control. Though ... where is the Administration? Maybe I'm too paranoid, but with Farrell and an unknown number of his colleagues around, I am more uncomfortable with that than I normally were. And speaking of Farrell, now that the plows are out and the temperatures going up, he would be able to move around, too ... not sure I like that idea!
Another day gone rather well, and they even announced the betrothal! Yay! I just wish the twin's parents and friends could be there for the wedding, too. I wonder if there's a palantír in Valinor they could use to watch the wedding, at least? To know that would be nice for Elrohir, I believe. Coming to think of it, couldn't the Maiar at least take letters back and forth between Wiseman and Valinor?
Now, with the mortals all fast asleep, I hope the Elves get their much-needed sleep as well.
How are you doing? I hope you are getting steadily better.
Author's reply
Hi Kitty. No, Glorfindel's not going to live this down any time soon. And you can try, but when its 25 degrees out, that's a real stretch. LOL!
Now that people can get outside for a while, there's little danger of cabin fever striking. And with the roads accessible again, it does mean that Farrell and the other agents are now free to move around. We'll see what they get themselves up to soon enough, as well as what's up with the Admininstration.
And I'm sure something will be arranged so that people in Valinor can witness the wedding and sending letters back and forth does sound like a good idea. Maybe someone will even think of it. *grin*
The Elves have been taking turns resting throughout the day. Glorfindel was the last of them. Once they get full power back, then the students can move back to their rooms and the Elves can return to Edhellond. That time is near, but not yet.
I'm doing well and getting stronger each day. I'll be able to return to work the first week of June and I can begin driving then as well which will be a relief. Having to rely on others to drive you where you need to go is a real pain, though I know my friends are happy to do so, knowing that perhaps someday they may be in a similar position and needing someone's help. What goes around, comes around, as they say.
Anyway, thanks for enquiring and thanks for the review. Both are appreciated.

*eyes title suspiciously* Why do I get a bad feeling?
Now that's an idea, counting that for the camping requirement, lol. Though, seriously, they get a free "how to deal with a crisis" lesson there. If any of the future Elf Guides ever encounters a similar situation, they have a very good idea how to act.
Why did I have to think of a certain few Hobbits when Glorfindel mentioned second breakfast? But you know, he should be glad that he has to deal only with the 'big folk' – what do you think how long their food would last with 400 Hobbits around? One day or two?
Nice little banter between Jud, Derek and Alex. Glad to see that Alex seems to feel better.
Was rather amused about Vorondir's and Glorfindel's talk about Elrohir and Serindë. Her parents obviously can't wait to wed her off! But it would be nice, and maybe we get to see a bit more of that than with Amroth and Nimrodel?
Ugh, Shane has the Norovirus – AND to deal with her Mum? Poor girl, she doesn't deserve that!
All in all, the day went rather well, and despite the title, the chapter was surprisingly quiet and peacefully. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop, knowing you I just can't believe nothing out of order – and bad! - is going to happen!
Author's reply
Hi Kitty. Well, as you see, this chapter really just showed how the storm was affecting both Mortals and Elves and how they were coping. As for the other shoe... well, that's coming soon enough, I promise. Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it very much.

No Poor Alex today.
Author's reply
Hi Fantasia. Yes, another "no poor Alex" chapter. I'm glad this chapter tickled your funny bone. And even Elves get 'old', but I think it's just that this particular storm and its circumstances is taking a greater toll on Glorfindel than even he realizes.

A wedding, a wedding! Yay! Do we get save the day cards?, virtual ones that is!
I am a little worried that Glorfi has not been able to find any of the Collage Admin people, I hope nothing bad has happened to them. At lest Marian and Derdre are safe.
Well at least Shane was able to convince her mother that she is happy where she is and is not being 'held' by a cult of any kind!
Mm, chilli after running around in the snow sounds good, it looks as if the Elf Acadamy was well stocked with supplies, the food might get a little boring after a while but at least they have some, not like some of the other places on campus. (Note to Administrators, look into stashing emergancy supplies any where student might go in an emergancy, I know are store has some in case we have an earth quake, or we did, some years ago!)
I am nibbling at toast while writing this, so sorry about the toast crumbs, I am looking forward to tomorrow, I am actually off on a Saturday, would you believe, there is something seriously wrong with the scheduling computer, it has me off two Saturdays in a row!

Author's reply
Hi Lynda. The reason for Glorfindel not finding any the Admin people will be made clear in the next chapter.
The food may be a bit boring but it is filling and helps keep the cold at bay. I don't think anyone's complaining yet.

Author's reply
Hi Galathil. Well, I don't think it would be possible for Arwen, Eomer and Boromir to attend the wedding seeing as how they've all left the Circles of the World and could not return even if they wished to. Maybe some of the Elves living in Valinor (Elrohir's parents and grandparents) might be able to attend. It all depends.

It is rather fun to see how the other elves tease their fearless leader when they get the opportunity. The image of the young, female students cuddling up to Glorfindel and using him as a pillow was quite cute.
So Elrohir did manage to get his courage up and faced down his own, personal balrogs - so now there is a wedding coming up! :-D As an aside - I wonder if Glorfindel will be able to convince some gossiping Maia to bring the happy news to Elrond and Celebrían?
Looks as if everybody is cheered at the prospect of a good snowball fight - and the preparations for it! And the fight itself also sounded fun.
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. Yeah, I had fun with that scene. Glorfi doesn't take teasing very well, though. *grin*
I'm sure as soon as Vorondur made the announcement, either Fionwë or Olórin or whoever happened to be 'on duty' at the Academy relayed the good news to those in Valinor.
And snowball fights are a lot of fun, so long as they are clean, with no slush balls (snowballs with an ice core, which is generally considered verboten).
Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Oh, Roy and Sarah are finally betrothed! Lovely, even if they had almost to force Elrohir to it. Excellent way to cheer everyone up.
It's good that they are no longer completely isolated at the Academy, but if they can get outside, so can Farrell... Hopefully he is not going to do anything while the Elves are still tired from looking after the students.
Glorfindel clearly doesn't like being teased!
Author's reply
Hi someone. No problem. I don't think I could change 'Fiondil' to something else even if I tried.
Anyway, a betrothal is always good news and these people surely needed some.
As for Farrell... we'll see what he is up to shortly. Now that the roads are open (or will be soon) he'll be able to get around as easily as Alex.

Hi Fiondil, sorry about the late review it has been that kind of week. I think that I must have been the first to read the chapter when it popped up and the last to comment.
Did I gather that Farrell and Shane & her Mother are all stuck in the same Inn? Because if they are I am have all sorts of spoilery thoughts or potential plot bunnies wandering through my head involving speaking in feverish sleep and letting cat out of bags although i won't elaborate further.
A lovely, gentle, ending to this chapter. Too quiet to last long methinks! *grin*
Author's reply
Hi harrocat. No problem. I can certainly relate. When I first got out of the hospital I found a couple of stories that I've been reading had been updated in the meantime and while I read the new chapters is was still a few days before I felt strong enough to leave a review.
Anyway, to answer your question about Farrell and Shane and her mom, no. Mrs. Becker is at Shane's apartment while Farrell is at the inn. I can see where there would be lots of plot bunnies running around loose if they were all at the inn, but even so, it would be doubtful that any of them would run into the other, especially with Shane and her mom both down with the virus.
And you're right that it's a bit too quiet and things will heat up again soon. Thanks for taking the time to review. I appreciate it very much.

- Erulisse (one L)
Author's reply
Which is why they call it 'cabin fever', Erulisse; no one really does well forced to remain indoors in a single room or set of rooms. Even with good books to be had, it gets tiresome after awhile (I'm experiencing that myself as I'm getting just well enough that I'm bored and sick of staring at four walls but since I can't drive yet I can't go anywhere and the enforced inactivity really gets to you after awhile).
Anyway, a break in the weather will be coming up soon and we'll see what the Elves have planned. I'm glad you liked the short aside about Elrond. I had fun with that.

They've weathered the first day well, but I hope the Elves start scheduling some time for themselves to sleep! I have to say that a found-his-soulmate Elrohir makes me smile. Anybody in the offing for Elladan??
LOL at the the recounting of Elrond's request for Celebrain's hand! Celeborn's always been one of my favorites; I figure he had to be quite a character in his own right to make a go of it for thousands of years with Galadriel; maybe irresistible force meets immoveable object...
I'm glad to see Alex recovering, and hope the forced confinement will be a good thing for Shane and her mom.
Author's reply
Hi Lyana. Now that they've gotten into a kind of routine, I have no doubt that the Elves will be taking turns. Elrohir was the first to go down, but the others will follow as they can.
Glad you loved the recounting of Elrond's asking for Celebrían's hand. I've always liked Celeborn, too, and wished there were more tales of him than there are. I am always happy when the Muse gives me a "Celeborn" story to write.

Hi Agape. I'm sure Elrohir and Serindë's wedding won't be quite a... um... exciting as Finrod's.
And I remember when we had a major ice storm, some areas were without power for a week or two and in the North Country, the entire infrastructure was destroyed and had to be rebuilt from the ground up and that took nearly six months! So a few days is nothing in comparison.

I rather liked the little talk between Glorfindel and Vorondur. Galadriel sounded rather high-strung - good that she has Celeborn around to calm her down. As for the present situation - Elrohir probably looks at vorondur as his very own, personal balrog! ;-)
Poor Shane! Stuck with her mother, and both of them sick, on top of it!

Hi Sunny. I'm glad you liked the talke between Vorondur and Glorfindel. I thought it was an interesting conversation, myself. Galadriel is, well, Galadriel and I think Celeborn pretty much kept her in line. And you're probably right about how Elrohir feels about Vorondur at this point. Thank you, O Great and Mysterious Stories of Arda, for accepting my sacrifice and permitting me to (finally) comment on a story. -prostrates self- (Maybe next time it'll even let me create an account, but that's probably too much to ask of the site right now. ;)
I laughed at Galadriel's response to Elrond. Poor guy. I can only imagine how mortified he was.
The Elves have a lot to be excited for...first Nimrodel's expecting Elflings, now there's talk of a wedding...I wonder if Elrohir and Serindë are considering having Elflings themselves. If so, would a child of theirs be considered a peredhel? That might get...interesting.
Well, things seem to be going a little more smoothly. Even Alex seems to be getting better, although we've never really learned the story of his hospital breakout or specifically what he was afraid would happen to Derek (if he was worried about something specific.) The skits and music seem to be taking his mind off of whatever it was, though.
Now that all is seemingly nice and quiet on the Elf Academy front, I'm just waiting for all hell to break loose (not that it hasn't already. ;)
Author's reply
Hi Whispy. I'm glad the system is allowing you to leave reviews now. Maybe you should check with the Mods as to why you're having so much trouble with it.
Anyway, that's a good question as to what any children of Elrohir (or Elladan) would be if they married a full-blooded Elf. Were they to marry a Mortal and had children, I would assume the children would be Mortal, though perhaps longer lived than normal. Maybe one day we'll find out.
As for Alex's hospital breakout, we won't learn any details about that as no one will really think to ask him, and he may not even remember too clearly what he was doing, given his condition. Suffice to say, that with his espionage training, he was well equipped to sneak out in full view of everyone.
And while we have a lull, that doesn't mean things won't get interesting again, though perhaps not quite as frenetic as it has been lately.
Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.
