Andrea · 19 August 2017 · Chapter 27: Tricks and Duels

When it came time to awaken, he would simply refuse to do so. And that's what he did, the stubborn Baggins. But the combined power of Gandalf and Elrond was apparently too much for him. Now I hope, Pippin's plans to cheer him up will work out.

Author's reply

This should be fun!

Larner · 9 August 2017 · Chapter 27: Tricks and Duels

Poor Frodo--it does seem too much to have to drain the wound for a fourth time! No wonder he doesn't want to awaken. But Gandalf knows how to awaken him, I see. Yes, Hobbits can certainly be stubborn, and this Baggins is often the most stubborn of the lot!

Author's reply

Thanks for taking the time to review! It is always appreciated.

Larner · 23 July 2016 · Chapter 26: Discovered

Now, this is quite the sacrifice to contemplate, much less carry through on! But it will hopefully be worth it for both of them!

Author's reply

It should make for an interesting chapter nonetheless.

shirebound · 23 July 2016 · Chapter 26: Discovered

Elrond is so wise... and so sneaky! What a marvelous suggestion, to have Aragorn 'test' the curative which will help him, as well. I believe the Ring and Frodo are engaged in a great war of wills with one another and it is this that has robbed him of any progress he should have made in his recuperation. Poor Frodo. What an exhausting, courageous battle.

Author's reply

I admit I trapped myself just before this chapter, on how to explain the malaise. The next chapter should be interesting, don't you think?

spinster · 4 July 2016 · Chapter 3: A Team Effort

I am just into chapter 2 and enjoying it immensely. I do enjoy elvish medicinal treatments too. It lends such depth and authenticity to the story. HOWEVER, if you are not going to research the herbs you reference, at least offer a prominent disclaimer the this is just for fun and not to be taken as genuine herbal advice. The case in point here is Arnica, which, according to a number of sources that I have, has never been known to have antibiotic properties. If I am mistaken and you do have a resource that references antibiotic properties for Arnica, I beg your pardon. I would be interested in adding that source to my library. Please e-mail me. I am returning now to your excellent story. Thank you

Author's reply

Thank you so much for your review! Just so you know, I do extensive research on all of the herbs involved so that it stays true to the story. You can check here about the healing attributes of arnica. http://www.naturalnews.com/029118_arnica_healing.html# I hope you'll continue to read and enjoy the story.

Andrea · 12 June 2016 · Chapter 25: A Moment of Bliss

Wonderful! Sometimes a simple bath is all that is needed - at least for Aragorn and Frodo. But why was Sam so angry? Because of what Frodo said to Elrond, or is it something else?

Larner · 6 June 2016 · Chapter 25: A Moment of Bliss

Oh, dear--get him nicely clean, warm, and relaxed, and then have a confrontation with a decidedly angry Sam Gamgee! At least Aragorn is being amused. Heh!

shirebound · 6 June 2016 · Chapter 25: A Moment of Bliss

Pip, if you didn’t do the things you do you wouldn’t be my Pip. You’d be boring like Merry Love it. Such a delightful chapter, with baths and hair washings and sweet hobbity care.

Andrea · 22 November 2015 · Chapter 24: Hard Work and Heartache

Frodo can be VERY stubborn at times! And now I am very interested to find out how the others persuaded him to accompany him much further than the borders of Imladris.

Author's reply

So true....I am sure once the others realize what Frodo intends, he will get an earful. thanks so much for reading and reviewing.

Larner · 17 November 2015 · Chapter 24: Hard Work and Heartache

Accepting that he cannot do it alone and that no one can take the blame for their current circumstances save for the Ring Itself is not an easy thing for Frodo to do, of course. Hopefully a good sleep will help him recover faster.

Author's reply

He is so stubborn and does seem to over think things, hopefully he will come to his senses Author Reply: He is so stubborn and does seem to over think things, hopefully he will come to his senses. Thanks so much for reading

Lindelea · 23 April 2014 · Chapter 23: Small Steps

I do like the idea of Aragorn being an honorary hobbit! Yikes! Poor Frodo! (Thinking he's a jinx and all)

Author's reply

Except for his height, I think he'd blend in perfectly!

Andrea · 23 April 2014 · Chapter 23: Small Steps

It's the same situation all over again, only with swapped roles. But this time Gandalf is there to prevent Aragorn from doing something stupid ;-) I am not so sure, though, if Aragorn could have mustered the strength to reach Frodo's bedside on his own. But he would have tried nevertheless! “Of course, Aragorn, but Merry and Pippin have also volunteered to help in your physical therapy,” the wizard said with a chuckle. That should be indeed interesting!

Author's reply

I know I'M looking forward to it!

Larner · 23 April 2014 · Chapter 23: Small Steps

Well, Aragorn at least is recovering at last! The infection is clearing up, and he's able at last to take an interest in what's going on around him. And he's as guilty as Frodo of putting others' needs before his own, I suspect.

Author's reply

MEN! or I suppose it should be MALES! Unbelievably stubborn. If they'd only realize that if they took care of themselves then they could take care of others. sigh

Andrea · 16 February 2014 · Chapter 22: The Herald of Gil-Galad

Oh my! I agree with the others: Hearon will NEVER forget to wash his hands again! And I hope Pippin will be in time to clean the seats...

Anonymous · 15 February 2014 · Chapter 22: The Herald of Gil-Galad

Really enjoyed this hope there will be more

Dreamflower · 27 January 2014 · Chapter 22: The Herald of Gil-Galad

Uh-oh. Pippin! I love Elrond going into "herald mode". And I cringed when Hearon said "at least it wasn't an important step"!

Larner · 27 January 2014 · Chapter 22: The Herald of Gil-Galad

They now know WHY he was made Gil-galad's herald, don't they? Heh! And they have managed to avert an even worse infection. As for the apprentice--he will NEVER forget to wash his hands again, I suspect! (And I do hope that those privies are clean when Elves come to use them!)

Dreamflower · 3 October 2013 · Chapter 21: Forays of Foolishness

Oh dear! Poor Frodo! Poor Aragorn! That's one determined Baggins!

Author's reply

Hard headed and stubborn isn't he.

Larner · 1 October 2013 · Chapter 21: Forays of Foolishness

At least they can now drain it, now that the infection is obviously draining. Bless Frodo for wishing to help his beloved friend as he could.

Author's reply

He probably inadvertently saved his life by the whole mess.

Andrea · 29 September 2013 · Chapter 21: Forays of Foolishness

That proves that the transitions between stubbornness and foolishness are smooth! Now Frodo has to wait yet again for his long-desired bath. But who knows how long it would have taken Elrond to find the cause of Aragorn's lasting fever otherwise?

Author's reply

Exactly...divine intervention or hobbit-intervention, I would say.

obsidianj · 13 July 2013 · Chapter 20: Tender Care

Oh, to be in the care of hobbits when you are sick. Although, I could do without the pain...

Andrea · 20 April 2013 · Chapter 20: Tender Care

Pippin blushed, “Frodo, I was only trying to say…” “I think you have said enough, Pip,” Merry glared at him. LOL!!! Poor Pippin! He is always trying so hard to please everyone. But it was funny ;-) To be in the care of hobbits is the best that someone could wish for!

Larner · 16 April 2013 · Chapter 20: Tender Care

These two are truly having more than their share of pain, although they are getting a good deal of comforting from the rest. And I'd LOVE to have the Hobbits and Aragorn taking care of me should I be so injured and ill! Heh!

estelnalissi · 6 April 2013 · Chapter 1: Never Underestimate a Hobbit

Reading Chapter one of The Honorary Hobbit made a great day even better. I love nothing better than to read hobbitcentric stories and this chapter abounds with examples of their irresistable charm. Even in a weakened state, your Frodo shows his inner metal, but you didn't neglect that vulnerability that inspires others to care for him. I feel The impetous for this story hinges upon Frodo's comment that he felt like a caged animal only to be released when it was time for him to carry the ring to Mordor. His dread escalated during the time he isolated himself in the sick room. He needed to put some positive, diverting experience between himself and his fear. You made the point so clearly that first he had to eat to fuel his recovery after which he could reconnect with his friends and experience the beauty and delight of the Last Homely House. You have such a humorous, upbeat touch while being mindful that beneath the amusing spats, Frodo's heart and will are strong. I so enjoyed the bartering scene and the little touch that though Frodo attempted to eat exactly half of his meal, he couldn't resist those fresh raspberries. "Take them ... anywhere," certainly summed up Elrond's delimma with hobbits with too much time on their hands. Sam's short appearance and the mention of Merry and Pippin, as well as curiosity to see more of Rivendell highten my anticipation to continue this story. However, I'm enjoying it so much that I'll be pacing myself knowing I'll reach the end all too soon.

Author's reply

It's been a long time since I've received such a lovely review. I am delighted that you are enjoying the tale. My other fics might also bring you some chuckles. They are mostly always Frodo-centric, this one was suppose to be mostly about Aragorn (for a dear friend) but I just can't help myself. I have a serious Flo' Nightengale complex and love to almost kill them off, then spend the rest of the time nursing them back to health. (muhahahahha)You will never see character death in my fics and I always complete them even if it takes forever. I have another update coming up ... it's all written just needs to be typed up and posted. Thanks again for such kind words...it made my day.

obsidianj · 17 March 2013 · Chapter 19: Stubborn and Stubboner

I can so understand Aragorn. It is appalling when you are not able to feed yourself. At least he seems to admit finally that he is sick and needs some help.
