ROTF -- You have got to be kidding me! I truly believe it is plausible that someone so boldly angry ar Finrod could be given such a chance at revenge--yet I'm pulling my hair out. You know how to keep your readers on the edge of our seats!
? Wasn't Ingwion made the Noldoran's heir a long time ago?
Great story!
Author's reply
Hi Agape. I'm glad you find it plausible that Isildil would still want to take his revenge on Finrod. And you're thinking of Intarion. Ingwion is still Ingwë's heir. Intarion became Arafinwë's heir then died during the War of Wrath. With Finrod returning in the meantime he automatically resumed his position as Arafinw's heir. I suspect that Intarion is just as happy not being anyone's heir anymore now that he's been reborn. Thanks for commenting and I hope you have some hair left by the time I post the next chapter. *grin*

I am so glad that Morwen had been indulging her creative energies so, giving her more time to finish what needed finishing in time for the ceremony. And I can certainly appreciate Nolofinwe's disturbance at the thought of vows!
Author's reply
Hi Larner. I'm glad she was too. And Nolofinwë... well, hopefully someday he'll get over being disturbed to see people giving their oaths, after all, he will be giving his to Arafinwë soon enough. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Down to the wire at last! Just remember - the Valar aren't allowed to outshine the bride on her wedding day - maybe not the groom either (who notices the groom?). I'm wondering how the ex-head cook can think he can get away undetected with messing up something for which he is solely responsible - be interesting to see how that turns up. Awaiting the next chapter eagerly. Merry Christmas!
Author's reply
Hi Rick. Don't worry, the Valar know better as we will see. As for Isildil... well we'll just have to wait and see, won't we? *grin* Merry Christmas to you as well and thanks for commenting.

Hey, Tari - I am sure the wedding china set would be perfect to use for target practice! ;-) and that would also make hitting the targets very obvious - and soooo satisfying! :-D

Hey Sunny - we'll all find out what they end up doing with the china in the last chapter, never fear. *grin*

I take back any bad thoughts I had of Amarië. She knows her mother better than anyone, except her father. Her plan worked in that the horrible clothes will never be worn and the aweful dishes never used. It's a shame to waste pottery this way. I can't help wondering if there is a way for them to be recycled.
Arafinwe still seems to be fighting with his insecurities. It takes time to overcome so may obstacles. He just needs a little patience.
Author's reply
Hi Tari. Amarië knows what she's about, although I think she should've told Finrod her plans. And Arafinwë does still have a few insecurities especially now that his older brother has been reborn. As for the china... just wait and see. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's greatly apprecated.

Atto,
It's been a long week. I wonder what Isildil's up to? *frowns at him* I don't trust him in the least. *shakes head* He'd better not try to ruin the wedding cake.
Nolofinwe's upset is understandable, so I'm glad Arafinwe and the elflings were there to help out. (Aside: YAY! The elflings return!!! Aww, they're almost grown up now. Almost. *grin* I have missed them! I wonder if Veryandur still has Narmolle, or if he gave Narmolle to Uncle Vondo? *grin*)
I loved the wedding rehearsal otherwise, and I'm so glad the ceremony will be conducted even partially in Sindarin.
*finds self wondering if the Crooked Street looks anything like Lombard Street in San Francisco* O_O...holy cow.)
I wonder what the garb looks like! I can't believe I have to wait until AFTER Christmas to find out!! But! I am saving the final chapter of EA rereading for Christmas. You'll see. It'll be like a present. =D
*is looking forward to Elf Academy's sequel*
Merry Christmas, Atarinya. Tye-melin. Tye-meluvan illúmë. (I hope I got that right. :) )
Kaylee
Author's reply
Hi Kaylee. Your Quenya is impeccable and very correct. Congratulations. And the Crooked Street is based somewhat on Lombard Street and somewhat on the Shambles in York. We'll find out about the garb in the next chapter. I thought it would be more appropriate to describe it on the day of the wedding itself. And I look forward to your review of the final chapter of EA on Christmas.
Merry Christmas, yendenya. Tye-melin.

One of the things that first attracted me to you in EI one and two was your wonderful description of clothing and fabrics. I wish I had pictures, but I will have to hope that you don't stint on the wedding clothing. My mind needs pictures :-)
The cake - oh dear, this could be a disaster. It's a good thing that despite any decorations, the interior of the cake will taste good. It's also a good thing that we have the Valar and Maiar in attendance so that the worst of the hatred might be deflected. What a shame to try and ruin such a beautiful and long-awaited festive occasion.
Can't wait for next week...and then you promised me more Elf Academy (can you hear my squeeees all across the countryside?).
- Erulisse (one L)
Author's reply
Hi Erulisse. Not to worry. The wedding garb will be described in the next chapter. Hopefully you won't be disappointed. As for the cake... that remains to be seen what Isildil does with it and what follows from it. That will take up the next two chapters actually. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much and thanks for the Christmas card. It's very lovely.

So you write that rumors have been spreading in the palace about the wedding possibly being canceled. On my part, I think that the entire city, and the environs as well, have been carefully following the soap opera that is the wedding prepartions, dissecting the hijinks of the principals and the families with great delight. Elves have eternity to gain skill in the arts and crafts - why not gaining skill in the art of Gossip as well? ;-)
Ooookay - that orcling Isildil is plotting revenge, is he? He may plot, and he may perhaps even get his plans partly under way, but I don't think Marilla is going to let him get away with that. I have definite suspicions about her identity. *raises an eyebrow at the author* So she would be perfectly able to squelch any of his tricks - or perhaps allow him to measure out just enough rope to hang himself - or the culinary equivalent thereof. Though it will be interesting to see just what his plans are. If he plans something that will harmonize with Almáriel's wedding china, it would have the potential for causing rather ... unfortunate ... effects among the Reborn wedding guests - of which there are quite a number - not to mention that the groom himself is Reborn!
Well, if he does succeed in whatever his plan is, he can certainly kiss his career goodbye! talk about cutting off his nose to spite his face! :-p
So now Nolofinwë has had his wedding-flashback. Like Finrod during the tournament in EI1 he was set off by oaths - and Finrod would certainly be able to sympathize and give comfort. And it was rather amusing that none of the elflings batted an eye at that reaction. But that sort of Reborn reactions would certainly be old hat for them!
I take that the garb Finrod and Amarië are actually going to wear is in somewhat better taste than what Almáriel had made for them? ;-) but we'll have to wait an entire week to get a description! (Unless you release the next chapter early, as a Christmas present... :-P ) ;-)
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. Sorry, but it's important that I stick to my original posting schedule. I'm afraid you'll just have to hang in there until next Wednesday. Hopefully you will actually like the garb that Morwen created for the bride and groom. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much. And Merry Christmas.

How Isildil can be so stupid?

O.K. Now, just what does Isildil have in mind, I am with Marilla in thinking that he should have been kicked out of the guild or at least demoted and put onb probation for a Yen or two!
I would have been surprised if Manwe or Irmo did not have a few Maia hanging about to help with the Re-born and I think oaths will always be a problem for some Re-born, high-born or not.
So Morwen was able to pull off the wedding garb, even on such short notice, I expect it was all hands to the embroidery frames, they not having access to computerised embroidery machines!
Waiting for the wedding!
Huggs,
Lynda
Author's reply
Hi Lynda. We'll see in the next chapter what Isildil is up to and what his ultimate fate is, though that won't be known until the chapter after.
And I suspect that Meril had everyone helping Morwen with the embroidery day and night. *grin*

You are evil! Now I'll have to wait another week to learn what the actual wedding garb looks like. *pouts*
Poor Nolofinwë! I'm not surprised that any kind of oaths ewoke really bad memories in him. The sons giggling through the rehearsal was fun, but I don't envy Anairë, even if she'll have some divine (or is that rather angelic?) help. Dealing with three Reborn, all three meaning so much for her and neither of them actually remembering her is going to be a nightmare.
Author's reply
Hi Soledad. *grin* Sorry about that but I felt the description of the wedding garb would be more appropriate when they are actually wearing it for the ceremony.
And Nolofinwë will need to work through his reluctance about oaths. And Anairë will learn to cope just like everyone else. I'm sure Arafinwë and Eärwen will help her as much as possible.
Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Uh, oh, what is Isildil plotting? I nearly forgot about him... which is always a mistake. I just hope that he embarrasses himself more than Finrod and Amarie and that the Maia around make sure he can't pin it on his helpers.
So, Meril got to design and make the wedding finery in the end. Good!
It will be a memorable wedding. No matter if the ceremony itself goes over without a hitch. There already was so much upheaval before. And with all the Reborn around and Isildil plotting revenge... The Maia are no guarantee that everything works. They proved spectacularly incompetent on a number of incidents ;-).
Author's reply
Hi obsidianj. We'll see in the next chapter what Isildil is up to and it's never wise to forget any of my characters. They may go into hibernation, but if they are a loose end, I always bring the back and Isidil is a loose end.
Anyway, you're correct that it will be a memorable wedding whatever happens or doesn't happen. And I wouldn't blame the Maiar too much. Sometimes they are simply obeying orders and their hands are tied.
Anyway, thanks for commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

Ok - sorry I haven't been reviewing the last few chapters. I have read them, but usually around 8ish in the morning and only with my Droid. Which makes writing reviews hideous.
Now - didn't a tell you many chapters back that this family needs a whole cadre of counselors!!!
Glad Manwe came to help. Glad Amarie took back her ugly words. Glad Finrod was able to accept her reasons.
BUT - you wrote in reply to someone that Amarie only is marrying Finrod to get away from her mother??? Say it's not true. Or else have Varda intervene and get him away from Amerie's claws!
Also - I did struggle with Amerie being the one who has suffered. She did, but just about the same as everyone else who 'lost' someone to Feanor's madness.
Living with Almariel and her designs could sour the woman.
As for Glorfindel - isn't he awesome! Takes care of his gwador!
Just a joy to wake up on Wednesday's and know this is going to beep on my phone soon.
Author's reply
Hi Agape. Well, I'm sure getting away from her mom isn't the only reason Amarie is marrying Finrod. *grin* She truly does love him, which is why she was willing to call off the wedding in an attempt to protect him from Almariel. I know I'm voicing a very unpopular opinion here, but what exactly ought Amarië have to be grateful for? After all that she'd had to put up with where Finrod is concerned, starting with being left behind and continuing with all that's happened after his rebirth, I'm still surprised that she was willing to marry him in the first place.
Author's reply
Hi Soledad. Well, I'm sure some people must agree with your estimation of Amarië, though I think you and they would be in the minority. *grin* Of course, in "Elf, Interrupted" and in "The Findarato Diaries" she doesn't come out as well and we see her frustration and resentment showing itself there, but over time she and Finrod have refallen in love and when you're in love, all the bad stuff before doesn't seem to matter as much, I suppose. At any rate, I suspect Amarië just wants to get away from her mother and marrying Finrod is the way to do it. *grin* Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

Well, at least Amarie thought the outfits and china were as hideous as everyone else did. How did such a sweet girl get such an unbearable mother anyway? I fully realize how emotions at weddings can get out of hand, but adding the three newly reborn to the mix just made things even worse. What a mess. I can't wait until I read the next chapter :-)

Hi Erulisse. So we now know that Amarië has good taste even if her mother doesn't. LOL! Unfortunately, as Manwë pointed out to Arafinwë releasing the three Reborn was the only option available in order to keep Finrod from doing what he shouldn't and just make things worse. At least they just have to get through tomorrow's ceremony and then it's over. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.

· Chapter 28: In Which the Bride and Groom Make Up and Arafinwë Breaks Down
The scene at the beginning on the steps of the palace was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing. Finally, someone stopped Almariel(sp?). I don't know how her husband can stand her. Probably with a lot of humor. She must have not so openly visible qualities. At least she seemed to have raised Amarie responsibly (or was that all her father's doing?). Although, that was a cruel "joke" to play on Finrod.
The second part was more ominous. What is Manwe playing at? I can understand Arafinwe's anger and disappointment of not being notified that his brother was released. It sounds odd that Finrod was the one to welcome them .
Author's reply
Hi Obsidianj. I'm glad you found the opening scene hilarious. As for the second part, I doubt Manwë is playing at anything. He is simply genuinely concerned for Arafinwë's well-being and emotional state. And if you recall, Finrod was accompanied by Glorfindel and Sador, so you had three "older" Reborn taking three "younger" Reborn in hand. Finrod doesn't have the emotional ties with Nolofinwë that Arafinwë would have, nor any ambivalent feelings about their relationship, both on a persona level and on a governmental level. Sending Finrod to bring his uncle and nephew home was probably the safest thing to do under the circumstances.
Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

· Chapter 28: In Which the Bride and Groom Make Up and Arafinwë Breaks Down
Wow, this reminds me of what it was like when my sister got married... chaos, chaos, chaos, and lots of family members (including me) getting upset from it all. (Of course it didn't help that I was 7.5 months pregnant at the time!) it did all work out in the end, despite several last minute glitches. (And to be fair, she probably feels the same way about my wedding! LOL!)
Thankfully, it appears that in Tirion, despite all the disruption of the wedding plans and preparations, no one is going to be at risk of going into labor in the middle of it all--but it's no wonder that everyone is falling to pieces.
I would have loved to have seen the look on Amariel's face when she heard that Finrod burned the wedding garb. Hee!
I do admit that Arafinwe's reaction to Olorin's arrival surprised the heck out of me! But once Manwe arrived and I put the pieces together, and it all made a lot more sense. Unlike the families of other newly-returned Reborn, Arafinwe doesn't just have to deal with changes in family dynamics; he's got the whole "who is the rightful heir of Finwe who should be Noldaran" controversy that's going to have to be dealt with politically once they have the All Aman Conference.
And with all the wedding fracas, he's not had time to really absorb the fact that his older brother is home once more. Riding herd on all of the Reborn, dealing with Amariel's ill-wished wedding contributions, and just the normal day-to-day issues of managing a kingdom... this day's events became the straw that broke the camel's back.
So Manwe, himself, came to help sort Arafinwe's breakdown, and reminded Arafinwe about the thralldom being only in Arafinwe's mind. I did like that Manwe didn't "fix" everything, but was able to help our dear Noldoran put things back into perspective, and to calm down.
Olorin showing up in the "normal" mortal way was a cute touch to end the chapter. Thanks for the lack of cliff hanger this time around! :)
Things are definitely at a fever pitch, and I'm looking forward to what happens next.
As always, a lovely visit to Arda, and it really brightened my day to read it. (and I hope it brightens yours to discover that I was able to find time to review!) *grin* Well done!
Author's reply
Hi Rhyselle. I'm sure lots of married folk can relate to what's happening here. *grin*
Manwë was just the person Arafinwë needed at that moment to help put things in perspective so he could deal with his anger constructively.
Glad this chapter brightened your day. And my day was indeed brightened when I saw you'd left a review. LOL! Thanks for taking the time to comment. It's very much appreciated.

Ha! It does not surprise me AT ALL that Almáriel is the reason for Amarië's apparent change of heart! It is like adding a few Bhut Jolokia to an already very hot (as in spicy) dish. At least Amarië and Findaráto made up, but I suspect Almáriel is still fuming, and will be fuming for a long time! and I loved Amarië's reaction to hearing what Finrod had done to his wedding garb! :-D
Nolofinwë's intervention saved the day! Yay for Nólofinwë - he must have brought forward the still mostly buried part of him that was High King in Beleriand! His and Findecáno's sudden arrival on the scene probably has the potential to make things ... interesting ... in the short time that remains until the wedding. and even more so after that, during the All-Aman council meeting.
I must admit I was just waiting for Arafinwë to have a little breakdown. And here it came! Considering all the crazy things that have been happening of late, he was overdue for one.
And as for the watchers - it wouldn't surprise me if each of the Valar have detailed half of their Maiar to be on watch in Tirion!
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. You never know with Reborn what they will remmember when. Apparently Nolofinwë's concern for his nephew's happiness was enough to bring certain memories to the fore when most needed. And of course, Arafinwë was long overdue for his little tantrum. As for the watchers, I suspect that the population of Tirion tripled overnight, though no one can actually tell. *grin*
