Little Mouse · 30 June 2011 · Chapter 4: In Which Information is Gathered and Further Plans are Made

Hey there! I just wanted to let you know that I am still reading all your stories. But as much as I love In Darkness Bound (I think I could happily throttle Ingoldo), it is more fun to have Finrod and Glorfindel back together and causing mischief! I can't wait to see what Finrod does to that Head Cook. ;) I was also curious about something. Do you write the entire story out first, edit it, then post it; or do you figure it out as you go along? It all flows so nicely that I'm kinda betting on the first option. Anyhow, keep up the good work!

Author's reply

Hi Little Mouse. I'm glad you are still reading my stories, even In Darkness Bound, and, of course, this story is a nice light-hearted change of pace from that one. We'll see just what happens when Finrod confronts the Head Cook in the next chapter. As for your question... with multi-chapter stories, depending on the scope of the story, I will write several chapters before I start posting anything. With Darkness, for instance, I'd been writing it for a year and a half before I posted the first chapter and was still writing it for another 7 months before I finished it, though I am still posting chapters and will continue to do so until the end of November. With Wedding, I had 10-12 chapters written before I posted chapter 1 and I am presently working on chapter 15, so I will actually finish the story before I finish posting all the chapters. And while everyone is readin Darkness and Wedding through the summer and fall, I'll be working on another multi-chapter story that will see the light of day (please God) in December. Anyway, thanks for letting me know how much you love my stories. I really appreciate it.

Larner · 30 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

Oops--it appears that they are busted! Now--who is it--Elf, Vala, or Maia? And what other monkey wrenches are being prepared at the moment to be added to the works? Heh!

Author's reply

Well, maybe yes, maybe no. We'll have to see. As to who it is... that will be revealed in time. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Larner.

Larner · 30 June 2011 · Chapter 2: In Which Invitations are Sent and the Valar are Amused

I rejoice that Finrod and Glorfindel added the extra invitations into the batch. Definitely thoughtful and desirable!

Author's reply

These two have a closer relationship with the Valar than most Elves of Aman, so naturally Finrod would want them to attend his wedding. Thanks for reviewing, Larner. I appreciate it.

Larner · 30 June 2011 · Chapter 1: In Which Glorfindel Reminisces and Our Tale Begins

Ah, but they are all to suffer from a good deal of mischief, I predict! Heh!

Author's reply

And your prediction would be quite true, Larner, as you will see in upcoming chapters. *grin*

Kitty · 29 June 2011 · Chapter 4: In Which Information is Gathered and Further Plans are Made

Dying and being reborn seems to have a strange influence on certain Elves. Breaking into the Queen's rooms and stealing papers isn't what you'd usually call proper, after all. So far that sounds at least reasonable - find out what has been finalized and what still has to be decided. Sounds nearly too simple, considering who is involved. *blinks* Rose and yellow-green? Uh ... if they went through with this, they will need to hand out sunglasses to the guests! To be honest, I can't say I like the idea. Poor Finrod, and poor Amarië. I wonder if at least she had any say in the matter, or if Almariel is deciding over her the same way as they are doing with Finrod? (Or trying, rather - the former King of Nargothrond isn't one to be bossed around) Hallacar and his wife could be a big help, if Finrod can convince them to listen to him instead of anyone else. As for the encounter with the head cook ... I think Vondo is right, His Highness the Prince will not be pleased with her :D Oh, I like Terendulë! When she said she doesn't care what Almáriel wants, she had won me over, totally! And how I have to wait another week for Finrod putting that cook in her place *pouts* But Vorondil and his ginger biscuits left me laughing. Can't wait for more!

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. I guess dying and being reborn allows one the luxury of being less... proper, and "but I'm a Reborn" is such a handy excuse. LOL! I doubt Amarië is having any more say about the wedding than Finrod. I'm sure the color combination is Almáriel's idea of high fashion. And I think the wait to see Finrod put the Head Cook in his place will be worth it. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.

6336 · 29 June 2011 · Chapter 4: In Which Information is Gathered and Further Plans are Made

Well at least Finrod has a couple of allies when it comes to the wedding plans, people who are willing to take his wishes into consideration at least. I am sorry, but the mix of colours chosen for his wdding clothes sounds like something the cat brought up after eating something she shouldn't! Let's hope Morwen can come through, she only has seven weeks after all and we both know embroidery takes a lot of time to be done well. I think I have an idea of how Finrod will handle the music selection and I can't wait to see his confrontation with the Head Cook, sounds like he needs taking down a peg or two! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. Allies are good and you can never have enough of them. *grin* As for the color scheme for the wedding garb... our sensibilities don't necessarily match up with those of other cultures and races. We'll see how it works out and what Finrod does about it. And next chapter will see the confrontation between Finrod and the Head Cook with some surprising results. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Sunny · 24 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

In addition to being long-awaited, this wedding is also no doubt going to be the most talked-about wedding of the yen. Or the age. :-D Glorfindel and Finrod certainly started laying the groundwork for making the wedding ... interesting ... with the invitations to the Valar. I wonder if they also remembered to update the lists of the ones invited, or if that little detail somehow slipped their minds? And now a Conspiracy has officially been instigated. Glorfindel did nave good point about including other customs than those of the Noldor, but I don't think Eärwen will appreciate being surprised by the little additions and alterations to her plans - but seeing the various big and small disasters unfold will no doubt be fun. I suspect Finrod goes along for the same reasons people do silly things at bachelor/ette parties - sort of the last chance of doing the kind of antics a single person can permit him/herself - when they are married, they are supposed to be responsible.

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. I have no doubt people will be talking about this wedding for some time to come. And you're right about updating the list of invitees slipping their minds or even remembering to tell Eärwen, so we will see how everyone reacts to the Valar showing up with their 'invitations'. *grin* And certainly Finrod feels he has a right to one last 'fling' of zaniness before settling down, so it wasn't too hard to convince him to enter into the 'conspiracy'. Thanks for taking the time to read and review, Sunny. I really appreciate it.

Kitty · 24 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

That was a very astute observation of Glorfindel. Yeah, the differences between the elven clans, their expectations, and particularly of these who come from Beleriand are probably something no one has really considered, because the planners are all Noldor and only thing about what *they* think is right. When Finrod thought it over and decided to not be the responsible one but to enjoy the fun I was laughing. Yeah, we all can guess how that is going to turn out! What a way to get the list ... I can so see the fun the Reborn are having. And now that they have the list, I can't wait to see what havoc they are going to wreak all over the place. Who was that silent watcher? Yes, yes, I know, I will have to wait and see ... That story is really going to be fun!

Author's reply

Glorfindel's no dummy, that's for sure, Kitty, and even Finrod hadn't quite seen the situation that that light until Glorfindel pointed it out to him. I'm glad you think this sotry is going to be fun. I hope so. Like "Elf Academy", it's not meant to be taken too seriously, just something to enjoy during the summer and beyond. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Kitty · 24 June 2011 · Chapter 2: In Which Invitations are Sent and the Valar are Amused

Ah yes, from what I remember of EI, I'd prefer Almáriel as far away as possible. That's the only distance at which she's bearable. Ah yes, I can see why Finrod is in a bad mood. He may not want to have to make all of the decisions, but to be totally ignored when they are planning his own wedding is not nice of them. Really love it that they want to invite the Valar properly, instead of just to assume that they would turn up. Though I had to laugh about Glorfindel's attempts. If the invitations are as convoluted sounding as I suspect, I can't blame him for having problems with it. He's a warrior, not someone for that sort of stuff and prefers a more direct approach. For him it has to be very tiring to follow that language. Námo was right – these invitations may not be 'properly' worded, but they come from the heart, and have more worth than if the Valar had been included from the beginning just out of duty. And the way Glorfindel signed them said it all. Really, the organisators should be ashamed that they never thought of it, considering the close relationship some of the Valar had with the bridegroom.

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. I think with most of the Elves, it's a case of 'out of sight, out of mind' and few have had the close relationship with them that Finrod enjoys, so they might not have thought about it in those terms. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Kitty · 24 June 2011 · Chapter 1: In Which Glorfindel Reminisces and Our Tale Begins

Bane of Námo's existence, indeed! That poor Vala must have been near a nervous breakdown ;) Was snickering through half of the chapter, as it brought back so many memories of 'Elf Interrupted'. Tea with a balrog and all that. Not to mention all the warnings that hint at Glorfindel's immaturity at the time – if that's not promising havoc, then I don't know what does. After this beginning, I suspect Glorfindel will have to spend the next few weeks telling his friends all about the time when he was released from Mandos and drove Kings, Valars and everyone to distraction :)

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. I suspect you're right about that. Oh well, it will keep everyone amused as they journey back home. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Erulisse (one L) · 23 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

Oh dear, another "conspiracy" with the double V's, Glorfi and Finrod. And Sador to be added later. This wedding may well turn into a three ring circus, and I'm sure will be a wonderful paty that will be the talk of society - decent and less so - for yeni to come :-) - Erulisse (one L)

Author's reply

Hi Erulisse. Yes, another 'conspiracy'. *grin* The wedding itself will probably be anticlimatic to everything that happens before it, but I'm sure it will be the talk of the town for a long time to come, too. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Arwen75 · 23 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

So glad I have my own office after giggling my way through this chapter. I can foresee much mayhem and fun ahead - and now I am going to be playing the guessing game about the mysterious watcher. Really enjoying this and going to be impatiently waiting for the next chapter I can see.

Author's reply

Hi Arwen. Having your own office does help. *grin* And there will indeed be much mayhem and fun ahead (or at least I hope so). The identity of the mysterious watcher will be revealed in time, but go ahead and guess in the meantime. Glad you are enjoying this. Thanks for letting me know. I reall appreciate it.

Tigger · 22 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

A piece of advice? Never try following a match at Wimbledon on TV the same time as leaving a review here. The review ends up looking rather messy. All those extra letters that snuck into words in that thing...Eeeek!!! I'll creep off in embrassement now...*blushes*

Author's reply

Can't say I've ever done that, but then I don't have a TV so I guess I'm safe enough. LOL! I wouldn't worry about it, Tigger, as I can still figure out what you meant.

Tigger · 22 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

Fiondil...M'dear...I have two questions for you. 1 ~ What have you done unleashing these four on the Wedding Preparations? and 2 ~ What can we do or use to bribe you into updating this more often than just one Wednesdays? :oD They have the list and Valar only knows what kind of mayhem is about to follow. This is going to be fun!!! Can't wait for next Wednesday and just who was it that was lurking in the shadows, hmmm? Oh and I just read your latest additiong to the "Loom" series very late last night or early this morning take your pick. *Loved* it, but will be leaving a reviewe there momentarily. A piece of advice...Never get a Summer Cold!! They are the *worst*!! Which is why I've been madly trying to catch up w/various things the last two days. Sigh...Blasted thing that is. Thankfuly it's gone, but I still have a pile of things to go over and read that fell be the wayside the last two weeks. And on that note...I can't wait for next Wednesday!!!! :oD

Author's reply

Hi Tigger. I know all about summer colds; they are definitely worse than winter ones. Glad to know you're recovering. As for your questions: you'll have to wait and find out about the first and I'm afraid my schedule only lets me post this story once a week, but think of it as a lovely summer beach read without the beach (and the story will actually continue into Fall). Anyway, I'm glad you are enjoying this. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.

6336 · 22 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

You know Glorfindel is right, from the ultra simple Sindarin/Sylvan wedding where it is announced after the fact, when the couple strolls in the morning after, to the more formalised Noldarin customs, to who know what the Vanyar and Teleri have, let alone the Nandor, who are a secrative lot at best and I doubt many outside their clans know of their customs! There is a lot to be taken into consideration and I am sure Findrod will want to include some of the customs from Ennorath in his and Amarie's ceremony, plus has any body asked the bride what she would like? I can see the two of them throwing up their hands in frustration and eloping to avoid all the fuss! Which reminds me, if you ever marry and have a daughter, don't jokingly tell her to elope when she is small, we did and she did! (She had been living with the guy for years, I will admit!) Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi again, Lynda. There certainly is a lot to take into consideration with this wedding and Finrod will ask the same question about Amarië that you raise here. We'll see how that works out eventually. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

6336 · 22 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

Ah Hah! Could the Valar, by any chance, be keeping an eye on our Fabulous Four, or has Earwen, canny ellith that she is, have somebody watching them? Just who is our shadowy lurker? I know, I know wait until next Wednesday! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. As to that, only time will tell what how your questions will be answered. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Laikwalâssê · 22 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

I´m curious if Finrod will get married at all. Let the elflings play and we will see...*g*. I´m looking forward with what they will come up next....like this very much. Thank you. Lai

Author's reply

Hi Lai. Well, that's the question, isn't it? *grin* Don't worry, though; he and Amarie will tie the knot.... eventually. I'm glad you are enjoying this and looking forward to what happens next. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

eliza61 · 22 June 2011 · Chapter 3: In Which a Conspiracy is Formed and Plans are Laid

**laughing hysterically*** It seems like after every chapter the only thing I can think to say is "Oh Sweet Lord!!". It may be that I keep having "flashbacks" to when my 3 sons were small and set my kitchen on fire trying to pop popcorn. Let me say I wish you the best of luck trying to reign in those four!! eagerly awaiting the next chapter, I'm just hoping they leave the house standing. That was delightful. thank you

Author's reply

Hi Eliza. They are a handful, aren't they? And Finrod, for all his maturity, is willing to play along. As to how much of Tirion is left standing at the end.... *grin* I'm glad you found this chapter amusing. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.

bookworm · 16 June 2011 · Chapter 2: In Which Invitations are Sent and the Valar are Amused

LOL trust Glorfindel to take the simplest solution! Although I'll confess, I've never seen the point in producing highly elaborate invitations to anything! I suppose Finrod being royalty makes for rather more emphasis on keeping up appearances *imagines all the invitations being sent out looking like that*

Author's reply

Hi bookworm. Well, they always say the simplest solution is usually the best. *grin* And royalty, I imagine, is all about keeping up appearances. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Caunedhiel · 15 June 2011 · Chapter 2: In Which Invitations are Sent and the Valar are Amused

Finally :) I love reading your work and re-reading it again when I'm finished - there are always bits I didn't notice before that make me smile, and laugh and think. I love Glorfindel's version of the invitation - he never lost his elfling charm has he? Please update soon, I really can't wait to read more!

Author's reply

Hi Caunediel. I will be updating this story once a week on every Wednesday so just be patient. I'm glad you love reading and re-reading my work. I really appreciate you letting me know. And I'm glad you find something new every time you re-read the stories. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it very much.

6336 · 15 June 2011 · Chapter 2: In Which Invitations are Sent and the Valar are Amused

Nothing like K.I.S.S. for a wedding invitation! I like Glorfindals style, short and sweet! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. Glorfindel's invitations were written from the heart, and I think the Valar recognize this and will treasure them for that very reason. And short and simple is the order of the day as far as I'm concerned. We tend to over-complicate things to the point of absurdity. Glorfindel is still just young enough emotionally to want to get right to the heart of the matter. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it a whole lot.

Fantasia · 15 June 2011 · Chapter 2: In Which Invitations are Sent and the Valar are Amused

WWell, I hope that none of the gifts is food! You cannot help and love those Valars, so touched because they were invited. It is true; sometime we assume things and never bother to ask.

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. I'm sure none of the gifts were food. LOL! The Valar are very touched both by the fact that Finrod remembered them and by the sincerity of the invitations. I think for many of the Elves in Aman where the Valar are concerned it's a matter of 'out of sight, out of mind, and let's keep it that way'. And the Valar are too polite to 'crash' the party uninvited, so these invitations are very precious to them. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.

Rhyselle · 15 June 2011 · Chapter 2: In Which Invitations are Sent and the Valar are Amused

Oh, my dear Fiondil! This was so charming! Of course Finrod would be feeling unwanted and unneeded! He most certainly did perk up when he had something to do at last. And, of course, as soon as he had settled into the task, something else came up! As usual! I wonder if his example will lead to a fashion for grooms to be more involved in their wedding preparations in the future--at least for awhile? Wedding invitations can be a rather stressful part of a wedding--making certain that everyone has been appropriately invited, but thankfully we didn't have to have ours handwritten out! As a fair-to-middling calligrapher, I could really feel for Glorfindel when he kept making mistakes. :) The scene with the Valar made me beam and touched my heart. It most certainly is better to know that even one single person loves you and wants you there, than to get an impersonal "duty" invitation. I can just see the scene as Eonwe does at the end. I have a feeling that every one of those notes will be tucked away in a safe place in the Valar's homes, and looked at frequently as a reminder of Glorfindel's (and Finrod's!) love for them. I loved this! Well done!

Author's reply

Hi Rhyselle. I'm so glad you enjoyed this chapter, especially the scene with the Valar receiving their invitations. It just goes to show that everyone, even the vaunted Valar, likes to feel appreciated and wanted and loved and Glorfindel's invitations, so simple and direct yet sincerely made, have touched them deeply. I'm sure they will be reading and re-reading their invitations many times even after the wedding has taken place as a reminder that they are indeed loved. Thanks for taking the time to review. I appreciate it very much.

Author's reply

Hi galathil. I'm glad you are enjoying this so far and looking forward to more of the story. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.

Laikwalâssê · 15 June 2011 · Chapter 2: In Which Invitations are Sent and the Valar are Amused

trust our Glorfindel to find the right words. I have to stop reading at work. My laughing out loud earned me many a curious look. Love this very much! Thank you. Lai

Author's reply

Hi Lai. Very true. Glorfindel knows just what to say. Glad you enjoyed this and I hope your coworkers are understanding. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
