Larner · 4 October 2011 · Chapter 114: A Collision of Fates

And now two are dead, and Ingwion apparently saw his brother's fall. It will go the worse for Ingoldo because of it, I suspect.

Author's reply

Yes, two are dead. Ingwion didn't quite see his brother fall, at least not all the way. Valandur made him look away at the last minute, but that doesn't really help. As for Ingoldo... only time will tell. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Larner. I quite appreciate it.

Rhyselle · 3 October 2011 · Chapter 114: A Collision of Fates

Dearest Fiondil, I hope that you had as lovely a holiday as my Darling Man and I had at A Long Expected Party 2: There and Back Again. I wish that you could have been there with us! And so the event that we have all known was coming is upon us. I am of mixed feelings as I contemplate the way that the chapter ends. I feel so badly for Nornoros, and for Namo as well. There are simply some things that MUST be. *sniffle* Inglaure has not replaced Ingwion in my heart, but has joined his twin there. So I grieve the events that this chapter reports. Even knowing that he will be reborn into innocence and a new life does not make this any easier to bear. Being a twin myself, Ingil's death strikes me extra hard. (And I even feel bad for that guard who ended up being killed in Inglaure's place, when Inglaure figured out it was a trap.) The only person that I find that I cannot forgive their actions is Ingoldo. I cannot see any mitigating aspects to any of his plots, plans and actions. And while I suppose he technically could not be convicted of outright kinslaying in the case of Inglaure's death--since it is apparent that Inglaure dies from the fall, and not directly at Ingoldo's hand--it is very obvious that Ingold has no compunction about arranging the murder of his nephew. I still don't understand how it is that Ingoldo could do these things (practically usurp Ingwe's throne, threaten the lives and safety of his own blood kin, and to cause others to become Kinslayers on his behalf) and still end up living in Vanyamar in relative freedom with his wife, and still with a fair degree of influence in the time of Elf Interrupted, Parts 1 and 2. I'm looking forward to Friday's chapter, to start finding out just what will happen next. It most certainly will be a time of grief and devastation for Ingwe, his wife, and Ingwion, but I'm holding on to the hope that you promise when you say that the ending will lighten up somewhat. And I think I'm going to go back and reread EI2 and ALEW tomorrow to cheer myself back up. Well done, as always, dear friend!

Author's reply

Hello Rhyselle. Glad you and your husband had a great time at ALEP2. Perhaps next year I'll be able to join you. This chapter was long foreseen, of course, but it makes it no less difficult to read (or to write). I'm glad Ingalaure has found a place in your heart as he has found in mine. Even as I was writing this story, I grieved for his fate and wished it could've been otherwise, but perhaps it is for the best, however hard, knowing that he has been restored to the innocence that he had before Ingoldo destroyed it. As for Ingoldo himself, it will be shown in what manner he is punished and why we see him and Tinwetariel in Elf, Interrupted causing more trouble. And I'm glad you have EI2 and ALEW to help cheer you up. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing, meldenya. I appreciate you taking the time to do so very much.

Been thinking, yes, I know, bad idea,(:)) you know Ratty is going to be able to wriggle out of the charge of Kinslaying don't you? If Ingalure had done what he, Ratty, wanted him to do this would never have happened? Slimey toad! Need to get Ratty and Namo together for a 'little chat' or is it too late? More Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. Ah, thinking.... such a dangerous occupation. LOL! As for how Ingoldo fares after this, remains to be seen. He won't get off scot free, I assure you, but it will explain why he is still living in Vanyamar when Glorfindel shows up in "Elf, Interrupted" and I think once you've read the remainder of this story and then go back and read the scenes between Ingwë and Ingoldo in EI, you'll understand Ingwë's references much better. And I'm afraid it's way too late for a 'little chat' with Námo. Thanks for your thoughts. I appreciate you sharing them with the rest of us.

Fantasia · 3 October 2011 · Chapter 114: A Collision of Fates

Oh No! I just want to cry. I knew that it was coming, but it is painful nonetheless. I will have a comment next chapter, but for today I will mourn him. P.S: there is a Latin-American novella that has the perfect title for this: Chronicle of a Death Foretold (Cronica de una muerte anunciada)

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. That title does sound quite appropriate. It is painful -- painful to write as well as to read and the next chapter isn't any better in that regard. I am glad you will mourn Ingalaurë. He deserves our mourning. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

6336 · 3 October 2011 · Chapter 114: A Collision of Fates

Oh, sniffle, poor Elfling! Ratty, you S.O.B. you have a lot to answer for, this not the least! I hope Ingwion catches you and beats you to a pulp and then stomps you good! Then let's his atto have a go at you, never mind what Elindis and his sister will do to him! Beware the female of the species! Now I have to wait until Friday to find out 'What Happens Next'! Arrgh! Evil Clifee King, grumble, grumble! Huggs, Lynda p.s. Working on last dress, Yay!

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. Ingoldo has indeed much to answer for, and we will see just why Ingoldo fears Ingwion, not only in the next chapter but in subsequent chapters. Sorry about the cliffie, but... hey! it keeps you coming back for more, doesn't it. *LOL!* Glad you're working on the last dress. I hope the Orclings appreciate it. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it, as always.

Malice2 · 3 October 2011 · Chapter 114: A Collision of Fates

Damn, you killed my favorite twin! Not that we didn't know it was coming, but still... And now I want to see why exactly Ingoldo is so afraid of Ingwion in "Elf, interrupted". The bastard always seems to get through and avoid any real retaliation for his misdeeds. And there are many of those to be blamed for... starting with beating up and leading to the death of my favorite twin. In theory, I don't believe in revenge. But it's be sweet against Ingoldo. Ah well, you'll propbably have the valar intervene before he can be properly "chatised" lol. Well, now I'll go find a cheery fic where my favorite character (rivaled only by Glorfindel and Sador) doesn't die ;-) Great fic, though much darker than the others

Author's reply

Hi Malice. Sorry to kill off your favorite twin, but these things happen. *grin* And we will indeed see why Ingoldo is so afraid of Ingwion as this story continues. We still have much more to tell, including Ingoldo's trial (and that thought should make everyone happy *grin*). I'm glad you find this to be such a great story, in spite of its darkness, but then, that is what it's about: the Darkening of Valinor and its aftermath, though I promise it does brighten up by the end. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I appreciate you doing so very much.

Larner · 2 October 2011 · Chapter 113: Gathering Storm

Perhaps not as wise a means of reaching the manor as they had anticipated. And is it now that Ingilaure comes into Namo's keeping?

Author's reply

Unfortunately, the answer to your question, Larner, is yes and we will see how it turns out in the next chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Laikwalâssê · 2 October 2011 · Chapter 113: Gathering Storm

I can hardly wait until the two brothers met an I hope the High King will react appropriately. The one I really worry for is Ingalaure. Poor ellon. Lai

Author's reply

Hi Lai. We will see how Ingwë handles Ingoldo. That will be the main focus of the rest of the story. As for Ingalaurë... well, we knew this day would happen. Next chapter will show what exactly did happen. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

obsidianj · 1 October 2011 · Chapter 113: Gathering Storm

And another storm. This time with the Lord of Mandos watching. That does not bode well. I don't mind Ingoldo getting soaked, but I fear for Ingalaure. His fate will be decided soon and Namo watching makes me fear for him.

Author's reply

I love storms. *grin* And the Lord of Mandos being there makes it all the scarier. Unfortunately, we all know what will happen, however much we wish it wouldn't. Our only consolation is knowing that Ingalaurë will be returned to innocence, the innocence that Ingoldo destroyed, and that's a good thing for all concerned. Thanks for reading and reviewing, obsidianj. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.

obsidianj · 1 October 2011 · Chapter 112: The High King Returns

Yay, Ingwe is back and taking charge. Although it seems most of his suspects either don't care, or are rather disenchanted with the royal family and the High King. Ingwion really needs to grow up. His behavior contrasts starkly with Arafinwe's.

Author's reply

Eek! I can't believe I never answered this review, obsidianj. Sorry about that. Better late than never, I guess. *grin* Anyway, Ingwion does need to grow up more, but one can excuse him somewhat given his concern (and guilt feelings) for his twin. Thanks for reviewing all my stories. I really appreciate it.

Agape4Gondor · 1 October 2011 · Chapter 14: News from Vanyamar

Never has your writing been as beautitful as the scene between Calemendil and Ingwee! I

Author's reply

Thanks, Agape. I'm glad you liked that scene. It's one of my favorites, as well, for I think it shows the love and respect the two have for one another and shows Ingwë acting as the High King in a way we rarely see.

galathil · 30 September 2011 · Chapter 113: Gathering Storm

Now that is a suprise about Lord Manwe. The question is this good or bad news? I am glad that the high king is back and the meeting between the two brothers will be say stormy to say the least. Can't wait for the next cliff hanger.LOL Galathil

Author's reply

Hi Galathil. Well I think I have one or two more cliffies in store, so you should be very happy. *LOL* We'll see how things work out in the next chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 30 September 2011 · Chapter 113: Gathering Storm

*Atto,* Manwe and Ulmo are having *far* too much fun with this whole storm thing. Really, they are. =P Must it be so difficult for our intrepid heroes? *grin* Of course, if you were just making life difficult for *Ingoldo*, I wouldn't mind... Ancalimë, Ancalimë...where have I heard that name before? Did we meet her when Arafinwe did and that's all? I could just be thinking of Tar-Ancalimë, I guess...(It's not even quarter to nine in the morning yet, so my brain's still a bit fuzzy, lol. *think think think* heh, I feel like Pooh Bear...*giggle*) Anyway, I hope things are going to come together now. It looks like Sulimondil isn't quite so bad after all. That's good then. (Well, of course it is.) Anyway, I hope everyone will be all right, but I'm worried about Ingil...:( I liked the explanation of how Ingwe knew Elindis was well. I am sure he's very glad to know that. =) Well, we'll see you here on Monday then, whenever you're up to answering reviews and posting! *huggles Atto* Have a good trip! I hope Manwe and Ulmo don't get *you* with one of these storms (it's meant to rain HERE this weekend!!!) Take care and have fun in the mountains! Take pictures!!! =) Tye-melin tenn'Ambar-metta! Kaylee

Author's reply

Hi Kaylee. Well, we'll see how Ingoldo fares with his brother and his family soon enough. I'm sure you are thinking of Tar-Ancalimë, as this Ancalimë has never appeared in any of my stories before and even in this one she barely shows up and has no actual lines. Unfortunately, Manwë and Ulmo decided to *get* me as well, but I had a good time anyway and hope to go back sometime next year. Thanks for reading and reviewing. Tye-melin.

6336 · 30 September 2011 · Chapter 113: Gathering Storm

It was a dark and stormy night, thunder flashed and lightning rolled through the vally, desperately they struggled through the darknes, would they reach the house in time... Oops, sorry, wrong cliffee! Well they have located them, now to rescue them! Enjoy your trip, you need a break. Huggs, Lynda p.s. Dresses coming along, don't ever try to set eyelets in polyester satin, it's a lost cause and I have a few more gray hairs to prove it! Luckily the sewing machine has an eyelet buttonhole so I am O.K.

Author's reply

A dark and stormy night, indeed, Lynda! LOL! I had a good time and hope to go back sometime next year. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Fantasia · 30 September 2011 · Chapter 113: Gathering Storm

I'm so worry...I know that Ingil will fall, but don't know how, I'm expecting in every turn that something will happen. Sometimes is better not to know.

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. Well, the next chapter will show what happened. Unfortunately, we all knew this day was coming, just not the manner of it until now. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I appreciate it very much.

Agape4Gondor · 30 September 2011 · Chapter 7: Ingwë In Tirion

It was incredibly harx to read the names of these children in suc a gentle setting -- knowing full sell what horrors await them.

Author's reply

Hi Agape. I imagine it was hard to read this chapter and its gentle setting, knowing what will someday happen to them all. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Tari · 28 September 2011 · Chapter 106: The Hunt Begins

What an amazing site the Vala and Maiar must have made, even with with elves mounted behind them. I picture a brilliant white glow moving swiftly accross the land. Awesome!

Author's reply

Hi Tari. Yes, I suspect it was an amazing sight and truly awesome. I suspect you are correct that to an observer it would've seemed as if there was brilliant white glow moving swiftly across the land, or perhaps a bright mist. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Larner · 27 September 2011 · Chapter 112: The High King Returns

About time they start getting answers. Poor Ingwion needs to relax--he's so worked up he's doing himself no good at all.

Author's reply

You're right about that, Larner. Ingwion is working himself into a state that will do no good at all, but circumstances aren't making it easy for him to keep calm as we will see in subsequent chapters. Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Agape4Gondor · 26 September 2011 · Chapter 0: Lehta Mandostello

I have been MIA for a time. I have missed your writing. A surprise -- an awful surprice-- to 'see' this one. I had chills!

Author's reply

Hi Agape. Godd to see you again. So many people were curious about the hints made by various characters in "Elf, Interrupted" about this time period that I decided to find out just what did happen after the Noldor left Aman and this is the result. I hope you enjoy this tale in spite of the fact that it is darker than my usual fare. I look forward to reading whatever reviews you care to leave.

6336 · 26 September 2011 · Chapter 112: The High King Returns

Well I can understand why some people are not enthusiastic at Ingwe's return, they had been told he had run off and left Ingalure in charge and now they have to clear up after a storm such as they have never experianced before. Now he is back and they are not sure just what is happening. So Ingwe knew about the tunnel and has used it on occasion. He is one smart ellon, the only way to find out what the people think is to go out amongst them and find out. Things are going to start getting nasty very soon, I am not happy that Ingalure has only taken a couple of people with him and Ratty, he should have taken a whole squad of guards with him. Waiting for Friday and hanging on tight, should I lay in a couple of handkerchiefs? Huggs, Lynda Now to get busy on cutting out Halloween costumes for daughter and her Orclings, they are all three being princesses this year!

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. Many people in Vanyamar probably have ambivalent feelings towards the High King at the point for the reasons you stated. Ingwë will need to tread carefully for a bit to win back their trust. And he is a pretty smart ellon. *grin* Things are indded going to get nasty though hankies probably won't be needed until next week, but it doesn't hurt to check your supplies now. *grin* Good luck with the Halloween costumes and thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Fantasia · 26 September 2011 · Chapter 112: The High King Returns

I wish that they pay a little attention to Ingwion, I know that he may sound arrogant and petulant ( I think that it is his fear for his brother that is making him so desperate), but we know that he knows that his brother is in danger. It is like Cassandra and Troy, at the end, they will believe. Poor Ingwë, the storm consequences are not helping his return, after a big catastrophe people will blame him for not being there for them. At least Ingalaurë is not alone, but I don’t trust Ingoldo.

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. Ingwion is indeed fearful for his brother and wants to rush off to help him, but they need information first and he chafes at the seeming delay. In that respect he still has some growing up to do. And you're right about how the people of Vanyamar are viewing Ingwë. He hasn't been there when they most needed him and now he returns. He has quite a bit of fence-mending to do once he deals with Ingoldo. We'll see in the next chapter what happens with Ingalaurë and Ingoldo. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 26 September 2011 · Chapter 112: The High King Returns

Well, it's good to see Ingwe back in Vanyamar being the High King again. I'm glad that he seems to have recovered well and is doing his best to work out what's going on, even if Ingwi's being impatient. I can understand Ingwion's impatience but Arafinwe's right to shake him out of it. So Ingwe knew about the tunnel all along because he had it built. I'm sure Valandur appreciated the news that his King had been sneaking out without him. *grin* Now, the question is what use did Ingoldo put it to... Atto, now I have to wait *all week* to find out what Sulimondil is going to say!! Oh well, at least it's only a couple days until Wedding is updated. That'll tide me over a little bit at least. =) Lovely chapter as always, and you've got me on the edge of my seat! hope I don't fall off! lol! Tye-melin tenn'Ambar-metta, Kaylee

Author's reply

Hi Kaylee. Ingwë is recovering to some extent though he's not completely there as we'll see eventually. As for Ingwion, he's rightly concerned for his brother's safety, for he doesn't trust Ingoldo, but his impatience is counter-productive, as Arafinwë points out. Anyway, I hope you don't fall off your seat either. LOL! Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much. Tye-melin.

obsidianj · 24 September 2011 · Chapter 111: Confrontation

Hmm, I'm not sure Ingalaure will get what he wants from Ingoldo. Ingoldo seems to me to be the person that doesn't give up. And if he just does it to spite Ingalaure. Ingalaure better be careful. Ingoldo might have an ace up his sleeve. These elves (at least Ingalaure) are still pretty inexperienced in the kind of devious games Ingoldo seems to play.

Author's reply

As to that, obsidianj, we will see shortly whether Ingalaurë gets what he wants out of Ingoldo. You are correct that Ingalaurë is very inexperienced and isn't as clever as he may think he is where his uncle is concerned. How this all ends will be shown soon enough. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I appreciate it very much.

6336 · 23 September 2011 · Chapter 111: Confrontation

Good to see that the Valar are willing to help in other ways. I did like Ingalure's little contre tempes,(think I got that right, third form French was a couple of yen ago!:) with Ingil. It contrasted nicely with his 'little chat' with Ratty later. I don't think Ingalure is an ellon I would like to have angry with me, especially when it comes to memebers of his family, he would move heaven and Earth to help them and woe betide any one who gets in his way, be they Elf, Edan, Valar or Maia! I could, possibly, begin to feel sorry for Tinwateriel but I think she is as much involved with Ratty's attempted take over as he is. The train is picking up speed, hang on everybody, the bend is in sight! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. The Valar have never stopped helping but are now doing it 'behind the scenes' in some cases so that it looks as if something is happening naturally, such as a storm uprooting a tree. Ingalaurë is definitely not someone to be on the wrong side of, that's for sure. He's taking a page from Ingoldo in ruthlessness, which is a pity, of course, but that's what happens sometimes. Tinwetáriel isn't as clueless or as innocent as she may appear and we see that in Elf, Interrupted. Anyway, the train is indeed picking up speed, as we will shortly see. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Fantasia · 23 September 2011 · Chapter 111: Confrontation

OMG!!! For sure, Ingalaurë has hardened and become an incredible leader. It made me feel sad, to see such a caring ellon doing those things, but sometimes it is necessary, really, curse Melkor. What a price to pay for the good of his people. I wonder how he can live with his actions, probably it is better for him to die and be reborn, cleaned of such darkness.

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. Yes, Ingalaurë had 'grown up' but not necessarily in a good way. Unfortunately, Ingoldo taught him too well. As you say, it is probably better for him and his family that he dies so he can be cleansed of such darkness. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
