Dear Halath I am looking forward to the next chapter. It has taken me a while to write this as I didnot want to come across as desprate(which I not of course) Lots of Love Galathil.

Author's reply

Thank-you for reviewing, Galathil. I hope the next chapter doesn't disappoint you. Haleth

Tari · 25 May 2011 · Chapter 24: Family Reunion

Wow! That was a real surprise. I never expected Haleth to have elven blood in her. To be able to live the rest of eternity in the Undyling Lands would be awesome. That being said, perhaps there is hope for her and Inglor after all.

Author's reply

Thank-you, Tari. Haleth wouldn't have much elven blood. I've often wondered how the ruling Houses of Gondor and Arnor saw Elrond. In human society, he'd be considered a patriarch, but the family had branched off so long ago that it would be hard to imagine a very close kinship. Either way, it's really hard for me to get my head around the concept of having a 9,000 year old relative. Thanks again for reviewing. Haleth

Lorienprincess · 21 May 2011 · Chapter 24: Family Reunion

Love this story. But since she is a direct descendent from Elros, would it not make more sense that she stays with Elrond, who is more used to mortals then the elves from Aman? Keep up the good work!!!!

Author's reply

Thank-you, Lorienprincess. '...would it not make more sense that she stays with Elrond, who is more used to mortals then the elves from Aman?...' It probably would. Anaire is very anxious to have one of her relatives near, maybe a little too anxious. It's hard to fault her, though. Her husband and all of her children left 6,000 years earlier and none of them ever returned. She must be incredibly lonely, particularly because as one of the leaders, she'd be expected to set an example of being strong. That's just my take on the character. Thank-you for reviewing. Haleth

Tari · 11 May 2011 · Chapter 23: The Ring of Doom

I also thank Wenont for not letting you quit. This story is way too good to just drop. Haleth is now as the first born. Why not, I say. With Iluvatar, anything is possible. I know the end is approaching and will sorely miss reading this tale.

Author's reply

Thank-you, Tari. The end might not be as soon as you expect. Nothing is simple for these two.

Freyalyn · 3 May 2011 · Chapter 24: Family Reunion

And suddenly she finds herself one of the noblest families in Aman - oh dear, even more to get her head around! And Inglor doesn't help, does he? Lovely as ever, thank you for sharing.

Author's reply

Inglor never really helps. And when he means to help it's usually even worse. Haleth's new situation will take some getting used to. She hasn't had time to absorb what's happened and she doesn't want to think about the consequences. Thank you for reviewing. Haleth

Fiondil · 22 April 2011 · Chapter 24: Family Reunion

An interesting chapter and we get to see Anairë who doesn't get much copy in fanfiction. It's easy to see how Haleth would forget just who were Elros' ancestors and how it is that she was related to them, however distantly. Looking forward to seeing what happens next. Something tells me more is going on than what appears to be on the surface.

Author's reply

I've often wondered how Elves would treat their family ties ten or twenty generations removed. Would the family bonds be as strong between great-great-great-great-etc-grandparent and great-great-great-great-great-etc-grandchild as they would be between, say, grandparent and grandchild? I'm inclined to think not, but that may be my mortal bias talking. It could potentially have interesting consequences for elvish society with huge groups of people aligning with their family, like the old aristocratic or merchant families. Then again, which of the many, many sides of the family would they ally with? Anairë would be a different case all of her children and their descendants left for Middle-earth and never returned. She would still have her parents and siblings (presumably) and their descendents (maybe), but it wouldn't be the same. Then again, with so many of the men having left for war and never returning, there would be a heck of a lot of unmarried women, which, I imagine, was a lot like England after WWI. It could have some interesting consequences for society, but I digress. Having distant ancestors alive and breathing would certainly be a huge change for a mortal who knows from a very early age that the previous generations of their family are long gone before they arrived on the scene.

shadowfax · 7 April 2011 · Chapter 23: The Ring of Doom

I have only one thing to say: INGLOR!!! :)

Author's reply

It was a long wait, but Inglor is back. Thanks for your patience and the review.

Fiondil · 6 April 2011 · Chapter 23: The Ring of Doom

So I'm slightly confused. If Haleth was alive BEFORE the fall of Númenor, and certainly Námo's questions suggest this, then she's been wandering around Middle-earth for well over 3000 years, so how is it she becomes immortal only after Inglor gives her the limpë? Enquiring minds want to know.*grin* Great chapter. Loved the Valar in this, especiall Námo, who is my personal favorite. Looking forward to the next chapter with great anticipation.

Author's reply

The time doesn't add up at all, but Haleth isn't aware of that yet. It looks like no one else really knows where's she's been or what she's been doing all of that time; or at least no one's ready to explain this. I'm very happy that you thought the Valar were well presented. It's hard to imagine interactions between a (mostly) regular mortal and a group of beings that are extremely powerful nonhumans. I imagine they would have to be extremely careful with her. Thank-you for the review.

curiouswombat · 6 April 2011 · Chapter 23: The Ring of Doom

**She gave her life to me,’ said Inglor. ** Oh my goodness - she did, didn't she? And what a good reason for me to go back and re-read, too!

Author's reply

Yes, she did. He likely guessed it would come in handy some day. I guess the moral is to never make dire, offhand comments to elves. Thank-you for the review.

Freyalyn · 6 April 2011 · Chapter 23: The Ring of Doom

Which begs the question - why did he give it to her and why didn't he tell her the ramifications? Lots more expiation of guilt and misunderstandings to come, I fear.... (or not - perhaps they'll just talk properly and clearly and explain what they feel?)

Author's reply

He might have told her. She was completely delerius at the time. She might not remember. "...perhaps they'll just talk properly and clearly..." The story would be much, much shorter if they did that on a regular basis! Thank-you for reviewing, Freyalyn.

Elflingimp · 5 April 2011 · Chapter 23: The Ring of Doom

Jeez! That was great! I loved it! More,more,more!...........okay I'll calm down now.......but that was so good!!!!!........sighs....I am such a sucker for Inglor and Haleth. Hugs Deb

Author's reply

Wow! That was quick. Thank-you for reviewing, Elfingimp. Haleth

Tari · 23 March 2011 · Chapter 22: The Road to Valmar

I was sooooo excited to see another chapter up. Haleth is certainly going thru a difficult time. The kidness of the Valar leads me to wonder if she truly will be punished. Where is Inglor indeed and why did Eonwe disappear? I hope the wait for answers is not too long.

Author's reply

Thank-you for reviewing again, Tari. Haleth doesn't really expect kindness from anyone. Whenever someone is kind, she expects there's an ulterior motive for it. Inglor is around. I'm sorry for making you wait so long between updates. The recent sections have needed editting badly.

Freyalyn · 15 March 2011 · Chapter 22: The Road to Valmar

And more cliffies! You really must put your entire life on hold and finish this story for us, and for Silmarien.

Author's reply

Thank-you for reviewing, Frayalyn. I have a bad habit of stopping as things get exciting. Haleth

Fiondil · 14 March 2011 · Chapter 22: The Road to Valmar

Gah! A cliffhanger and it involves Inglor! That's so unfair! And where's Eönwë gotten himself to in the meantime? Great chapter. Hope we don't have to wait too long for the next one. *grin*

Author's reply

I'm sorry. It seemed like a good place to stop. I apologize for the length of time between chapters. Editting is a chore that I find many excuses to avoid. I hope the next chapter doesn't disappoint. Thank-you for reviewing, Fiondil. Haleth

curiouswombat · 14 March 2011 · Chapter 22: The Road to Valmar

What a pleasure to see the notification of another chapter after a long day at work - thank you so much. I am glad to think that she has remembered more of who she is, and that she has remembered Inglor. I wonder if she is, perhaps, here more for him than for herself?

Author's reply

That is an excellent question. I hope the next chapter mostly answers it. Thank-you for taking the time to review. Haleth

shadowfax · 14 March 2011 · Chapter 22: The Road to Valmar

Oooh an update after such a long long time! I have missed Haleth (I just can't call her Silmarien now!) and her completely sarcastic way of seeing things! Inglor makes an appearance, in memory atleast. I am hoping that, if it is to be a happily ever after, you show us a bit of Inglor's mind as well or else it wouldn't feel complete! If it is going to be a happily never after...well, some sarcastic Haleth and impassive Eonwë would be great! Or if Haleth goes haring off doing some mischief in Valinor itself. It would go right in to the theme of the character, really. Just please let there not be fluff.

Author's reply

Thank-you, Shadowfax. I can't think of Haleth as Silmarien either. The name just doesn't fit at all. Haleth goes haring off doing some mischief in Valinor itself... Would she do that? ;) Thanks for reviewing. Haleth

Elena Tiriel · 14 March 2011 · Chapter 22: The Road to Valmar

P.S. Is there a story that goes with the dragon memory? If so, I must have missed it, though I remember it being mentioned in passing before. Feel free to expand upon any of the vignettes alluded to that haven't been written down or posted yet....your many fans would clearly approve! *very very very big grin* - Barbara

Author's reply

Is there a story that goes with the dragon memory? Not yet. I actually started to write it in an original setting. As usual, I got completely bogged down in the wheres and the whyfors. It didn't get too far. Haleth

Elena Tiriel · 14 March 2011 · Chapter 22: The Road to Valmar

Aha! So Silmariën (still can't get used to that name) finally remembers Inglor! I thoroughly enjoyed all the tantalizing tidbits you included from your other Haleth/Inglor stories.... Her bits and pieces of memory are not yet knit together into a whole, which would indeed be horribly frustrating (even for someone who isn't sometimes prone to hit first and ask questions later... or at least to fantasize doing so). But where did Eonwë go? And where is Inglor? Surely he's going to show up soon? *makes big puppy dog eyes* I can't decide whether Haleth is being prepared for the day of her death, or of her wedding (the two possibilities suggested by the title), or of receiving the thanks of the Valar and an honored retirement for her long service, or of disapproval for butting in where she's not wanted.... or something else entirely. You sure know how to keep your readers guessing.... Thank you for this lovely birthday present, Haleth! - Barbara

Author's reply

Happy Much Belated Birthday! I hope you had a good time. Haleth's lot in life seems to be constant frustration. It's lucky for me that fictional characters can't throttle their writers. I'd be covered in bruises. Will Inglor show up soon? Yes. Haleth isn't sure of what to expect. Her mental state isn't that clear and the circumstances are overwhelming. I wouldn't want to be in her shoes. Thank-you for reviewing. Haleth

galathil · 13 March 2011 · Chapter 22: The Road to Valmar

Dear Haleth I throughly enjoyed this chapter.Waiting with baited breath for the next chapter.Galathil

Author's reply

Thank-you, Galathil. I apologize for the amount of time it takes me to post each new chapter. I hope it isn't disappointing. Haleth

Mysterious Jedi · 13 March 2011 · Chapter 22: The Road to Valmar

Good chapter, but now I'm really wondering what's going on!

Author's reply

Most of it will be explained. Most of it. It would be dull and disappointing if there was no room left for speculation. Thank-you for reviewing, Mysterious Jedi. Haleth

bookworm · 10 February 2011 · Chapter 21: Army of One

*facepalm* Oh man Eonwe, please tell me you aren't actually that dense XD How Haleth restrains the urge to smack him I don't know (I suppose the confusion, illness and general ohvalaramigonnadie might help there). Going to be interesting to see where this goes!

Author's reply

Eonwe is fun to write. Here's someone for whom a body is optional. Getting sick, tired, hungry or thirsty is unknown territory for him. He understands the principle...sort of...but he's never experienced any of it and he's incapable of getting it. It would be interesting to see the interaction between him and a healthy Haleth, maybe with Gandalf to mediate because Gandalf, at least, was bound to his body. Thank-you for reviewing.

Tari · 7 February 2011 · Chapter 21: Army of One

Silmarien has been spared by the Valar. I can't help but wonder why. It was most brave of her to be willing to die to defend the Valar. Perhaps this will be to the good for her. I have hopes that she will not die.

Author's reply

Thank-you for reviewing, Tari. Haleth is a little rash and she was worse when she was younger. I'm not sure if she was brave or just determined to chose the manner of her own death. She knew she was wasting away in Valinor and she really had no way of leaving. Still, she might have a little life in her yet. She's stubborn.

Elena Tiriel · 1 February 2011 · Chapter 21: Army of One

Whoa!!!! You mean, Haleth didn't witness the fall of Númenor from a fleeing ship... she witnessed Ar-Pharty's invasion??? From Aman??? And tried to fight back? *picks jaw off the floor and dusts it off before slapping it back on her face* (Erm, I'll grant you, given that it was Haleth, maybe the fighting back part wasn't really so surprising....) Okay, I have been guessing at her Númenórean background for ages now.... and never never never never never imagined that! Wow! Just.......... wow. But she met Finrod in the Undying Lands!!! (In her usual manner, with foot firmly inserted in mouth.....) Just how incredibly cool is that? *squeeeeeeeeee* (Has Amarië been properly knocked up, er, off, er, out of Finrod's way, in your 'verse? If not, I might know some people who might know some people.........) And yet again, you raise more questions about Haleth's background than answers.... like, how did she get to Middle-earth, and how did Finrod join her there? And how did he avoid killing her all those years they were together in ME? I mean, *she* thought *he* was obtuse! *rolls eyes* As did we all.... Evil author. Harrumph! Okay, I may really want answers as soon as possible.... but, on the other hand, when this story (or the overall Haleth/Inglor arc) ends, I am going to be as bereft as I was when I read LoTR for the first time. You, my dear, have an incredibly fertile imagination! And, boy, do you love leaving your readers in shock and awe... and craving for more. - Barbara

Author's reply

Ar-Pharty?! That's the first time I've heard that nickname. That's great! How did Haleth get to Middle-earth? Er...can I get back to you on that? I'm really glad that you're enjoying the story. I was really worried about how it would be received. Thank-you for reviewing. Haleth

Freyalyn · 1 February 2011 · Chapter 21: Army of One

I'm feeling nearly as confused as Silmarien, and very interested to know where we're going...

Author's reply

I'm sorry. This section is very confusing. It's coming to its end soon and I hope you'll be patient with it. Haleth

Lynn H · 29 January 2011 · Chapter 21: Army of One

Silmariën is having enough troubles with her own scraps of memories. Now she is confused with the influx of memories from the original Silmariën? Is she one or both? She is human - how can she be ReBorn? I know she isn't, that she is only named after the original, but I don't follow.

Author's reply

Silmarien is only one person but she had a very complicated past. She is quite sure the memories that are being brought to light are hers, but she's not exactly in the best shape. Thank-you for reviewing, Lynn. Haleth
