TVT says this story is "brilliant" and they ain't wrong❣️

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 16 August 2017 · Chapter 10: Sun-in-Eclipse

Dearest Atya, Two and a half years. It's been two and a half years since Lord Námo took you from us, and almost eight years since you posted this tale. I've reread it often. There's a solar eclipse coming up that will travel across the United States. I wonder if you knew it was coming. I wonder if you knew that when you wrote this story. It's been in the news a lot lately, as I'm sure you could imagine. I suppose you've got the best seat in the house to watch, and you haven't got to worry about eye protection, either. *tearful smile* I miss and love you every day, to the end of Arda and beyond, Atto. I'll use this tale to remind me that Darkness will never wholly overpower the Light, even if my heart feels darkened with grief. Tye-melin, Your yelde indonyo Kaylee Arafinwiel

Amony · 26 August 2014 · Chapter 44: A Winter’s Tale

poor ellon :( , to stay there while no one even acknowledged his existence, it tore my heart when he looked wistfully to the food, wants to taste it or even feel it but can't :'( , rather reminds me of (Pirates of the Caribbean) when the pirates were mere ghosts. when his body was moved, did his soul finally find rest in mandos?

Author's reply

Hi Amony. Aragorn will never know for sure but he hoped that his actions helped the Elf find rest in Mandos and we're hopeful, too. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Midnight Promise · 30 July 2014 · Chapter 6: Tenn’ Ambar-Metta

Hello! I am going through your fics again and enjoying it just as much as the first time. :-) I read this one and wondered if Elros every met any of his relations that might have come from Valinor? ;) Thanks for your work, MP P.S. Will there be another story for Maglor??? I am dying to know how his meeting with his family goes!

Author's reply

Hi MP. I'm glad you're enjoying my stories the second time around. I have no idea if Elros ever met any of his Valinórean relations, though I'm sure he met the elves who came to the island during his life time. And I can't promise another Maglor story at this time, but it's not outside the realm of possibility, so you never know. Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it very much.

Amna Abou Elela · 26 July 2014 · Chapter 17: What We Do for Love

Well can you please add another chapter about the Winter Solstice, you haven't yet made it so, I think it well be very interesting, not to mention hilarious :D :D :D

Author's reply

Hi Amna. At the moment, I have no plans to write a sequel to this story describing what they end up wearing for the Winter Solstice. I'm afraid you'll just have to use your own imagination about that. I'm glad you enjoyed this one, though, and I appreciate you leaving a review. Thanks.

Mongwen · 25 January 2014 · Chapter 35: The Young Mortal’s Guide to Trees

Pardon me for picking nits here, but I think the date stamps in this chapter and a previous one are wrong. If I remember right, The Hobbit took place in T.A. 2941 and Estel was 10. The date stamp on this chapter is 2839, though, and the one in a previous one is also 28something. Just thought you might want to look into it. I'm one of those lurkers who reads and rereads and rereads your stories and several other authors, but doesn't write.

Author's reply

Hi Mongwen. Thank you so much for pointing out the error in the date stamp. I can't believe neither I nor my betas or anyone else noticed. Argh! I'll go hunt for the other story you mention and make the correction on that one as well. I'm glad you came out of lurker mode long enough to let me know about this. Too embarrassing.

shirebound · 7 July 2013 · Chapter 30: Any Port

"We’re doomed!" Voronwë screamed. "The Valar hate us!" "No!" Elendil screamed back. "So long as I draw breath, I will never believe that. If I die, I will die faithful to my oaths to them. They may indeed abandon us, but I will never abandon them. As Eru is my witness, I will remain true." How marvelous and inspiring! Such an exciting scene.

Author's reply

Didn't expect to see a review of this after so long, Shirebound. I'm glad you found it so inspiring and exciting. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it very much.

Laikwalâsse · 23 June 2013 · Chapter 46: Ensnared by Hope

finally someone is focusing on Celeborn. He surely deserves more attention. I can so sympathize with him knowing that something bad will come (at least from his POV) and he can do nothing. I agree with him that his wife is not fully innocent on this matter. She is playing matchmaker after all. Your description of Celeborn and Galadriel sounds so true. Galadriel searching Celeborn´s wardrobe was priceless. Thank you for this little piece. Lai

Author's reply

Hi Lai. He does indeed deserve more attention and I'm glad you think my descriptions of him and Galadriel sound true. I liked the image of her raiding his wardrobe for Aragorn's sake pretty amusing. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

Cairistiona · 20 June 2013 · Chapter 46: Ensnared by Hope

I really enjoyed this, your giving Celeborn a well-deserved moment in the spotlight. He tends to be overlooked a little (okay, a lot) in fanfic (he and Gilraen really could form a support group...) and this story goes a long way in redressing that oversight. I love how "human", by which I mean multi-dimensional and real, with emotional depth, you write him and Galadriel in this story. They had to have had many conflicting and upsetting thoughts and feelings about Arwen's choice, and you've explored them in a way that's well in keeping with their roles as leaders in Middle-earth and as doting and concerned grandparents. Galadriel raiding Celeborn's wardrobe was a hoot... I hadn't really thought about where she got Aragorn's Elf-lordly outfit but that makes perfect sense. *g* "'No, you are not. I think you are something more,' Celeborn said quietly" I loved this line. Much as Celeborn wanted to fight it, he was seeing that Aragorn was indeed special, and worthy of Arwen. Loved how Celeborn sought solace from his wife near the end of the story. Joy is always bound with grief at some level, and it was nice to see Celeborn and Galadriel finding comfort in their own love for each other. I could go on, but I think you get the idea: I really loved this short tale. Well done on its Teitho placing!

Author's reply

I have long wanted to write something that highlighted Celeborn, because he gets no respect and little press, so when the "Capture" challenge came up in Teitho, deciding to write about Celeborn in this particular situation was an obvious, no-brainer. Celeborn is just plain cool to write about. There are depths to him that few, I think, have explored. Someday, I'd love to write a longer multi-chapter story highlighting him, allowing me to eplore him more fully. Thanks for letting me know how much you enjoyed this story, Cairistiona. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.

Tari · 19 June 2013 · Chapter 46: Ensnared by Hope

A first place story if ever there was one. This is the first time I have seen a story focusing on Celeborn's feelings regarding Arwen's choice. Both he and Galadriel had to have felt great sorrow about losing their grandaugter. Tears shed were quite appropriate. It puts them in a much softer light. I had also thought Galadriel was a bit cold.

Author's reply

Hi Tari. Thanks. I am glad that it simply placed. Celeborn doesn't get nearly as much press time as his wife, so I decided to rectify that omission and Galadriel puts on a good show but she's not a cold as one would think. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I really appreciate it.

elliska · 19 June 2013 · Chapter 46: Ensnared by Hope

Outstanding! You captured these characters and the situation beautifully.

Author's reply

Thanks, elliska. I'm so glad you enjoyed this story. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.

Ellynn · 19 June 2013 · Chapter 46: Ensnared by Hope

I enjoyed reading this at Teitho, this story got one of my votes. I really like your Celeborn.

Author's reply

Thanks, Ellynn. I appreciate you letting me know. I like my Celeborn, too. *grin*

Fantasia · 18 June 2013 · Chapter 46: Ensnared by Hope

Yes, sometime fate can be cruel, but it was worthy at the end. I remember that I really did not understand Arwen's fate when I read it, many, many years ago. I thought that she was still inmortal, because it sounded as she didn't change in appearance and that she could live forever if she elected it. Then, she accepted the gift of men and die, because she decided to do it, but she could have gone to Valinor as well, she gave her "spot" to Frodo after all. The real decision was at the end of Aragorn life, not really at the moment of their pledge. It was sad, but a beautiful Love story. Luthien and Beren had a beautiful story as well, the story to be sung in ballads, but if you ask me, I prefer Tour and Idril. Less complicated and a city of elves and a father more tolerant, ready to accept love and different cultures. Gondolin must had been a great Kingdom.

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. You're right that the real decision did not come until after Aragorn died, but the seeds of that decision began in Lórien. And I have to agree with you about Tuor and Idril. Theirs was a real love story. And I think Gondolin was a great kingdom. After all, it had Glorfindel in it, so how could not be anything but great? *sly grin*. Thanks for reading and commenting. You know how much I appreciate you taking the time to do both.

Larner · 18 June 2013 · Chapter 46: Ensnared by Hope

I think this is the second story I've seen where Galadriel raided Celeborn's wardrobe to garb Aragorn. I find I prefer this longer version with Celeborn's acceptance of what was to come. I wish I could remember where I read the other one! Perhaps on Henneth Annun. I know that in my story of this greeting of Aragorn to Lorien, when Celeborn realized that his wife had deliberately dressed Aragorn as a prince, she told him that if she did not love Aragorn there would be no chance for Arwen to love anyone else. I find I like the idea that Galadriel broke down in Celeborn's arms once the future she foresaw was a fait accompli.

Author's reply

Hi Larner. I'm glad you like this longer version of the story. I'm sure others have written about this (besides you), but I've never read them. Galadriel breaking down sort of surprised me but really, it just shows she's not the ice-queen of Middle-earth that everyone thinks she is. *grin* Thanks for commenting. I really appreciate it.

shirebound · 18 June 2013 · Chapter 46: Ensnared by Hope

What a marvelous gap filler. I especially love this line: His grey eyes were clear; he could see the light of stars shining through them and his breath caught in his throat at the implications. You truly bring Galadriel and Celeborn to life for me.

Author's reply

I'm so glad, Shirebound. Celeborn doesn't get nearly as much copy as he deserves so I'm always happy to write it and writing him with Galadriel is lots of fun. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. It's very much appreciated.

Sunny · 18 June 2013 · Chapter 46: Ensnared by Hope

Fare can be a b*tch. But at least Celeborn is willing to let Arwen have her Estel, even though it means that when she dies, that parting will be so very final. A lovely, bittersweet story!

Author's reply

It is a lovely, bittersweet story, isn't it, Sunny? I don't think Celeborn had much choice in the matter to tell you the truth so it's a good thing he came to acceptance when he did. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

6336 · 18 June 2013 · Chapter 34: On the Naming of Names

Just reread this and wondered how come Arwen did not have an 'el' name? Is it a coincidence of her being a noble lady to Aragorn's valorous king? Just thinking.(Yes, I know, dangerous, very dangerous!) Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

I have no idea, Lynda. It does seem odd that she doesn't with all the "el" names running around in the family. Maybe Celebrían put her foot down on that. *grin* Thanks for commenting. Hugs.

6336 · 18 June 2013 · Chapter 46: Ensnared by Hope

Read this over on Teitho and thought it was yours. Yes, Arwen has been ensnared by Hope, in more ways than one. I do feel for Celeborn, Galadrial has her own agenda and she is not above helping fate along with a little nudge now and then! The convergance of Elros and Elronds lines has been long in the making but it has to come to pass, even if it only lasts a few generations the consolidation of M.E. is important. Makes you wonder what would have happened if Isuldur had tossed the ring in to the fire! Would Aragon and Arwen wed? Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. Your question is pretty deep. One has to wonder if Aragorn would've been born at all if Isildur had not kept the Ring for himself. A scary thought. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much

Celeth · 22 March 2013 · Chapter 45: The Shadow of Lúthien

That was beautifully written! A behind-the-scenes (as it were) and closer look at what happened after his conversation with Aragorn about Arwen. I never really thought about it when I was younger, but the more I ponder about Elrond's life, the more I see what a tragedy it was: a father they barely knew, witnessing death and destruction of their home and everyone they knew at such a young age, not to mention abandonment by their mother, being raised by the "enemy" and the haughty kinslayers no less, the death of his brother, then losing his daughter...no wonder he was so wise. But at what cost! I love the way he asks Arwen to treat Estel gently. He still loves Estel inspite of having some idea of what could happen in the future, and knowing the very real possibility that he could lose his only daughter the same way he lost his brother...

Author's reply

Hi Celeth. Yes, Elrond's life was very tragic but, in spite of it or perhaps because of it, he was indeed very wise and loving even toward Aragorn whom he could well have hated for 'stealing his little girl'. It could not have been easy for any of them, even the Twins, knowing what would happen. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

Ellynn · 21 March 2013 · Chapter 45: The Shadow of Lúthien

He-he, she'll be surprised, oh yes she will... :) Nicely written.

Author's reply

Thanks, Ellynn. I'm gald you enjoyed this.

Emma · 21 March 2013 · Chapter 45: The Shadow of Lúthien

This was so beautiful! Tragically ironic, though, that Elrond's foreboding will come true. It was interesting to see Arwen's first impressions of Aragorn, even though that will change very soon, as the Elves count time! I feel very sorry for Aragorn I though, being 'talked to' by the twins. He was only fourteen, what harm could he possibly have done? I hope you write that in more detail someday, sounds like it would be fun to read.

Author's reply

Hi Emma. Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed this. I doubt I will ever write about Aragorn I running afoul of the Twins over Arwen. I'm sure you can just imagine how it must have gone. *grin*

Laikwalâsse · 20 March 2013 · Chapter 45: The Shadow of Lúthien

and we all know that Elrond´s heavy foreboding will come true and that the "youth" will follow in his forefather´s shoes. "robbing the cradle" what does that mean? Even if we know this little piece so well you have managed to tell it new, thank you, liked it very much. Lai

Author's reply

"Robbing the cradle" is an expression describing when (usually) the man is so much older than the woman when they marry that it almost seems as if he is marrying someone who is barely a child in comparison. In this case, of course, the roles are reversed with Arwen being very much older. Hope that explains it, Lai, and I'm glad you liked this. Thanks.

Fantasia · 20 March 2013 · Chapter 45: The Shadow of Lúthien

“Ada, I promise you, I am not Lúthien. I have no intention of running off with Aragorn or any other Mortal, now or ever.”....Her famous last words

Author's reply

Yes, famous last words, indeed, Fantasia. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

shirebound · 20 March 2013 · Chapter 45: The Shadow of Lúthien

It must have been very difficult for Elrond to be both mother and father to his children, even after they were grown. All the sorrows and agonies and darkness which had haunted his line had to mean something, had to speak of some good that, if not seen, could at least be anticipated. That's a very interesting thing for him to ponder.

Author's reply

Even in Middle-earth we have single parents. *grin* And yes, a very interesting thing for him to ponder. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Shirebound. I really appreciate it.

6336 · 20 March 2013 · Chapter 45: The Shadow of Lúthien

Makes you wonder what would have happened if Elrond had not come down so heavy handed i.e. King of the United Realms and just left it to Arwen, she must have had a lot of practice in turning down admirers! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Yes, it does make you wonder, doesn't it? Luckily, we'll never know, for that's not what happened. Thanks, Lynda.
