obsidianj · 22 July 2012 · Chapter 29: Farewell

That was a beautiful scene, the good-bye between Boromir and Linhir. It was heart wrenching, but also peaceful. Let's just hope that Boromir now makes his way to Gondor without further mishap.

obsidianj · 22 July 2012 · Chapter 28: Ambush

Whew! It seems that Boromir was spared, but I feel sorry for Linhir. I liked his character. The scene at the end shows again how deceiving the Palantiri can be. I Gondor would be better off without them. There is too much room for interpretation. It reminds me of the mirror of Galadriel where the usefulness was, to me, also questionable.

obsidianj · 22 July 2012 · Chapter 27: Journey on the Water

Oh, no. No sooner it seemed to go our hero's way than you have to end with another cliffhanger of the bad kind. I just hope Boromir was hit by friendly hands and lost consciousness because he is in a weakened state still... I can still dream, can't I?

Larner · 19 July 2012 · Chapter 29: Farewell

A grief indeed for Boromir, although Linhir felt the price well worth it!

Larner · 19 July 2012 · Chapter 28: Ambush

I grieve that Pippin is left believing Boromir is now dead for certain when he is not, and that Boromir loses his friend. At least he is but stunned and will recover. Certainly it's likely his healing wound adds to his tendency to remain unconscious now. But Sauron appears intent on seeing to it that the worst is believed in as many quarters as possible.

Agape4Gondor · 13 July 2012 · Chapter 29: Farewell

An incredibly sad, and well written, scene. That Linhir hung on long enough to bid Boromir farewell... I loved the father/son reference.

Tari · 3 July 2012 · Chapter 28: Ambush

You had me scared for a moment, but I knew you wouldn't let Boromir die. How sad that he has to loose Linhir. They are so close. What a joyous surprise it will be for Pippin when he discovers that his dear friend lives.

Agape4Gondor · 30 June 2012 · Chapter 28: Ambush

Aw! Drat! Did not expect the death of Dirhaevel. Though in times like these, I should have expected it. And Linhir. A cruel blow to Boromur. The loss of the company's healer is bad enough, but the loss of a friend .... Loved the Pippin scene. And the misconstrueing of what the Hobbit saw. No wonder Denethor was confused when he was using the Anor-stone on a daily basis!

Larner · 26 June 2012 · Chapter 27: Journey on the Water

Oh, no! To come this far only to be wounded once more! I so hope it is not as serious as the last time!

Agape4Gondor · 25 June 2012 · Chapter 27: Journey on the Water

It is a clear shame that Tolkien hadn't heard that Boromir was indestructible!!! Definitely a sign of his wound healing, having the patch taken off. As for Pippin - yikes!!! And good grief - Boromir cannot be wounded again!!! Nice cliffhanger - drat you!!!

obsidianj · 24 June 2012 · Chapter 26: Decision Made

And so they all go to sleep at the end of the chapter. I loved the transition from one scene to the next with the "sleep" theme.

obsidianj · 23 June 2012 · Chapter 25: Descent

Boromir wouldn't have been himself if he wouldn't have tried to rebel against being carried one more time. I think after that little trip down the first set of steps he is healed of his ambitions. I loved the glimpse of Gondor from high up the stairs.

obsidianj · 23 June 2012 · Chapter 24: Battles Brewing

I love this chapter. I haven't had a chance to read this in a while, but this chapter gave me a straight and clear view of where all the players are and where they go. I loved Boromir's grumbling at being carried, but he is smart enough to abide by the healers will.

Larner · 21 June 2012 · Chapter 26: Decision Made

I pray that the virtue of the Elves will protect all of them. They will need it so! And love the persistence that leads Denethor at the end to actually eat.

Agape4Gondor · 19 June 2012 · Chapter 26: Decision Made

Whoo hoo! Great chapter. They are finally going to be on their way. Boromir survived the stairs and now looks to a boat trip that will not tax his body as much as aback a horse or walking. And Durlin still cares for a rebellious Denethor and Gimli and Legolas continue their gentle repartee. I love the way you bring the characters of these people out. They are not cardboard creatures. Each one you introduce to us is immediately taken to heart. They are good and doughty men and give me hope that Boromir will end up, alive and well, in Minas Tirith. And that perhaps Denethor and Faramir will have polite, even loving converse between them. A nicely touching chapter!

Agape4Gondor · 19 June 2012 · Chapter 25: Descent

I was listening to Howard Shore's score (where the Hobbits run through the cornfield, fall down the cliff, and hide from the Nazgul.) Great music for reading something like this! Love this description.... "Beyond that cloud of mist, the world seemed to drop away, and behind it was nothing but empty sky." Have you been down the stairs at Niagara Falls. Your description brings ideas to mind that I had not thought of. That the stairs would become more and more treacherous. I do love Boromir's impatience. I am fairly surprised that he kept his tongue. I don't know if I would have. To have to sit back and listen to them discuss how they were going to try to kill him... not literally, of course, but the trip... Wow. I had to giggle when he did disclose the fact to Linhir that he had every intention of being a back-seat driver. ROTFL Really great chapter and fun to read.

Larner · 11 June 2012 · Chapter 25: Descent

Now, this does take courage, to trust in the strength, fortitude, and care of his men for the rest of the descent. But at last he is indeed within Gondor!

Agape4Gondor · 2 June 2012 · Chapter 24: Battles Brewing

Oh! I loved this chapter. We got to see what was happening on so many fronts. Faramir in Ithilien. Aragorn on his way from Edoras. Pippin with the Huorns at his back. And Boromir, struggling in his woundedness, trying to accept Linhir's councel. Very nice chapter indeed. Though I quake at the thought of those wet, treacherous stairs. I remember Gimli growling at Boromir's weight when they moved him to the lake. *g*

Linda Hoyland · 1 June 2012 · Chapter 24: Battles Brewing

These latest chapters were most enjoyable.

Larner · 28 May 2012 · Chapter 24: Battles Brewing

An excellent transitional chapter--not too much reiteration of what went on before, but setting us clear on each character in his proper place and his anticipation for the future.

galathil · 27 May 2012 · Chapter 24: Battles Brewing

Poor Boromir I do feel for him.I do like your version, where Boromir lives. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I wish that I could them that he is doing well. Can't wait for the next chapter.LOL Galathil.

Larner · 17 May 2012 · Chapter 23: Broken, Yet No Longer Useless

I rejoice he has such companions to bring him--and Harthad--home yet again!

Agape4Gondor · 13 May 2012 · Chapter 23: Broken, Yet No Longer Useless

It shows the keen leadership that was Denethor's before the madness took him - that the men around his sons and him were so smart and confident and loyal. Both Boromir and Faramir had much to thank their father for.

Agape4Gondor · 13 May 2012 · Chapter 22: Counsel Both Wise and Stern

I liked the scene with Denethor about the Hobbits. He can't tell Faramir what he's seen - yet he must stop them. Poor Faramir - he really needed Durlin's pep talk. Glad the three hunters are together again.

Larner · 21 March 2012 · Chapter 22: Counsel Both Wise and Stern

The Three Hunters are back on track, and the Haradrim approach the appointed ambush. Now, what differences might the survival of Boromir have caused? We must surely find that out soon!
