This one is full of gems, but this is my favorite:
“There’s its head!” Pippin shouted. “My baby has a head!”
“It’s a miracle!” Merry shouted
LOL! Leave it to Merry to make light of the beautiful miracle of sheep being born. I think he'll feel differently when it's his own children. ;)
Author's reply
LOL I just hope none of Merry's childern are sheep. hehehe (I couldn't resist.)
"Merry had a little lamb, little lamb..."
So glad you enjoyed it. I don't know how accurate my 'birth of a sheep' is because I have never seen that miracle but I was certain that Pippin would have seen it early on, living on a farm. Thanks for the review!

ROTFLMAO!
*wipes tears of laughter from eyes*
Oh, GW, this encounter with your therapist was soooo therapeutic.... for me! *laughs some more*
You gave me my hearty laugh for the day, and I thank you for it!
- Barbara, grinning like an idiot
*psst! Waldo's lurking in the last line of the first paragraph....*
*giggles helplessly*
Author's reply
LOL
Now this is what I like to see, a happy reader! Looks like my therapy did you more good than it did me. And you found Waldo! No one else has found him or if they did, they didn't bother to tell me. You have a very sharp eye there.
Thank you for giggling helplessly. I like that in people!
Author Reply: I fixed 'recommend' by turning it into 'recommended'. Thanks for finding Waldo for me!

Oh good grief! You had me rolling in the aisles as I read this.... extremely funny... but especially the A/N! Good grief - someone hide this from Hammerstein, never mind the Tolkiens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Author's reply
Oh, I am so glad you enjoyed it. I love it when people laugh while reading and rolling in the aisles is an extra bonus. Thank you and I really do hope no one tells Hammerstein. Tolkien must be used to this sort of thing by now but I am guessing that Hammerstein might be seriously ticked off! hehehe

“There’s its head!” Pippin shouted. “My baby has a head!”
“It’s a miracle!” Merry shouted and Paladin and Pimpernel glared at him.
Merry shrugged.
LOL!!! Merry is great! "Miracle" would have been a nice (and appropriate) name for the sheep, too.
Pippin is a very bright lad for his age. He has already started to learn the rules of diplomacy.
And to tell you the truth, I prefer Pervinca's answers, too, because she really thinks about them and not just calls everything she can not explain "a miracle".
P.S.: You should migrate to the Tooklands. I've heard that they have lots of sheep ;-)
Author's reply
I enjoy writing from Merry's point of view for some reason. Maybe that's why I write him rather cheeky. hehehe
Miracle would really have been the perfect name for the sheep, especially since it had a head and everything, if it weren't for the fact that I had written a story about a pet sheep named Dumpling once upon a time for one of Marigold's lovely Challenges. I plan to post that one here in the near future. I think most folks have read it but it sort of goes with all of this nonsense.
I also like Pervinca's answers better. They may not be completely correct but she is trying.
I might do well as a shepherd in the Tooklands...I might even be willing to marry into the Took family if asked. : )

ROTFL!!!
Don't say you never write something original. For this "hidden disclaimer" IS original! I loved it :)
And (as I may have pointed out before): What would a story be without SHEEP (and hobbits) :-D
Author's reply
I may have to concede that the 'hidden disclaimer' might be new ground in fan fiction at that. LOL
I am very glad you liked it and it is very satisfying to find a reader that knows that entertainment value of sheep and hobbits! Thanks for reading!

Miracles *do* happen...I'm at a LOSS for words to describe this awesome, brilliant story, lol! I am so in love with your hobbit wee ones -- Tooks and Brandybucks alike. I liked your Paladin here -- but you know I've also enjoyed your earlier tales, too. :-)
You have child psychology down to a TEE, which I feel greatly adds to your wonderful tales. This was a fantastic story about lambing -- and I've learned something new, too! "lambing jug"! Can't say that I'd ever need to use it, lol, as I never write about sheep. I'll leave that to you since you always do an excellent job of it, lol.
Dumpling...hmmm....Dumpling...Merry...Dumpling...Merry...there's just something about that combination that seems awfully familiar....hehehe. ;-)
It was WELL worth the wait to not have to deal with other things while reading and enjoying your tale. Absolutely LOVED every single word!
I'm so glad you're back to writing! I hope you continue -- you have been so missed. By me!
Author's reply
You can explain the miracles to Merry for me. LOL
I am so very glad you enjoyed this and I always love it when you review with words like brilliant and awsome. Makes me blush.
The child psychology comes in to play because I have the mind of a child. I'm using it right now. hehehe
That 'lambing jug' may be the only educational thing I've ever put into a story so you'd better find a use for it! It's all your getting.
When I was writing this one I realized that I have yet to post "Dumpling" to Stories of Arda. It was a challenge story for Marigold and for some reason I forgot to put it here. I'll have to do that, maybe as an extra chapter for this one.
I seem to be writing a lot all of the sudden so I'm glad to know you are still in the mood to read, dear friend of mine.

I haven't even read the story yet and I'm already laughing out loud. (Well, not too loud...my boss might hear.) If the story is anywhere near as creative as the disclaimer, I already love it! Thank you for making my day so much better. Poppy Muddyfoot
Author's reply
Thank you for making my day better by saying such nice things. I started playing with my disclaimers a while back because I was tired of just posting the usual, Not my characters, no profit made, yadda, yadda, and more yadda. It was then that I began to go a bit nuts with them. They get the point across but it's more fun this way. Hope your boss doesn't hear you! : )

I, of course, loved this sheep-based story. (I am sure your Cloud did, too, and is proud to have many namesakes within it.) Merry's internal dialogue is great, too -- I especially liked where he "only just" resisted the urge to shout "it's a miracle" in answer to the lad/lass question. It's also nice that Pervinca, while opinionated, is not mean and is shown as just a little kid -- oh, wait, that's goats. There's no goats in this story, are there? -- I mean, a little lass herself. Who is obsessed with naming the sheep. Another good sheep name is, of course, "Baa."
I'll be watching for the duck-feather-based sequel in the future.
Author's reply
Thank you! You are one of the sheep people on my flist thanks to Baa, so I am glad that you enjoyed it. The next time I write about sheep I'll have to remember to name one after Baa. Cloud was pleased by the way. hehehe
Glad you enjoyed Merry's thoughts.
Nope, no goats this time. I think I used all of my goats up in "Strike While the Iron is Hot". I like the 'kid' pun all the same. Love a good pun!
I might just have to write that duck-feather story. Maybe Baa can turn up in that one.

I love your writing style - little Pippin is beyond adorable; I think he and Sam are my favorites whenever someone writes about the adventures of our dear hobbits when they were little lads.
I especially like the dialogue between the children - Pippin's especially. He is obviously a very curious and sweet-natured child. Your story made me laugh, and that is always a good thing.
Thank you very much!
Author's reply
Thank you so much for such a lovely review. I often write the hobbits as children and although I haven't written Sam very often as a child, I do adore him. For a while I was nervous about writing him but I do it more often now.
Sometimes my stories are nearly all dialogue! I'm all talk and no action. hehehe Glad you enjoyed that.
I love when people laugh while reading these. I do think that's a very good thing!

You were fibbing to your Analyst you bad girl!
Pippin is learning to be a diplomat with his sister. Survival skills need to be learned early.
Great stuff GW!
Author's reply
I did lie to the Analyst but hey, like you say, survival skills! I have to lie to stay out of the psych ward. (giggles madly)
With three older sisters I think Pippin either learned to be a diplomat early on or a little charmer. With Pip I suspect it was both.
Thanks so much for reviewing!

Oh! GW! *cough, splutter, snort*this is just hilarious! I do point out occasional typos but I don't take pleasure in it. *looks up to the sky and whistles innocently*. Of course I don't and I mainly only do it if the mistake changes the meaning of a sentence.
“Fine! I am wasting my life! I am writing stories that will never make me rich or famous and I am using another author’s characters! I am not doing anything important with my life. There! Are you happy now?”
As your alternative analyist I diagnose that you are wrong on all counts but the last question. You are making lots of people, especially me, very very happy.
KEEP WRITING and I even enjoy the sheep!
Author's reply
At one time during my fan fictin writing hobby, if the readers didn't point out the typos then no one did! I was so without a clue when I started on all of this that I didn't know anyone was having their stories edited or read over before posting. I ran mine through a spell check and then merrily posted them. I always joked that I had mine beta'd by the readers and was grateful for it! LOL *If* you should find Waldo, er any mistakes, please point them out to me. I have learned so much that way. Love the whistling innocently. hehehe
Awwwwww, thank you! I am in love with humor and so if I am making you happy then I'm happy too!

Ah--that's our Pippin. And Pervinca did get to name it after all! Love that she's not all that original.
I once had a tankful of tropical fish, and the busy little catfish was Sam, of course, and the swordfish were Eowyn and Faramir, and the neon tetras were named after Thorin and company....
Author's reply
Imagine having to name an entire flock of sheep! It's a wonder that Pervinca wanted that job. Oh, well, a sheep by any other name and all that.
I have a friend who has named her fish after the members of the A-Team. Remember that show? Her last group of fish were named after the Three Musketeers. Naming fish seems to be more interesting than naming sheep. LOL

Wonderful!
Hilarious!
Miraculous!
Pillow!
(Merry already has two names for the next lambs, Miracle and Pillow!)
I loved it all, as I knew I would. Not only is it (a) written by you, making it an automatic favorite, BUT (b) the title had me hooked from the start (my being an Oklahoma native and an R&H fan).
Maybe R&H just wanted birds to scurry in their song. But really, that doesn't make a lot of sense if you picture it; chicks, ducks, and geese fly or flutter, not scurry. Well, baby chicks that can't fly would maybe scurry, but their mamas wouldn't let them play in traffic; so they wouldn't need to scurry.
But sheep, now -- sheep would scurry, even little lambseativy would scurry. Or maybe they would scuttle. Hmm. They certainly scamper. But of course "scamper" wouldn't rhyme with "scurry."
"Goats and pups and lambs better scamper,
When I take you out in the -- uh, hamper.
When I take you out in the hamper with the fringe on top."
Nah, doesn't have quite the same image.
But I'll never again watch "Oklahoma!" without thinking of sheep rather than geese!
Hugs and more brownies,
Mum
Author's reply
Awwwww, your entirely too nice to me! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed my choice of music. Rogers and Hammerstein were brilliant, weren't they? I love a good musical. I also LOVE your 'Hamper Song'! We really need more songs about fringed hampers.
So, I've put a few sheep into "Oklahoma!" for you have I? Well, the sheep will do much better in Oklahoma than they might have done in "South Pacific". At least there's that.
More brownies?!
Thank ewe!

Ah! I was hoping it would be a lamb. Mind you, Merry being disgusted by the general ickiness of birth and then annoyed by the 'miracle of birth' explanation was hilarious.
Pippin and his sisters were hysterical - I loved Pervinca's answers. She's a bright lass, and she did get to name the baby eventually. I was particularly tickled by Pippin's thoughts on what constitutes a miracle! Somehow eating biscuits may not fit the bill, especially for a hobbit. :-)
Great story as always, GW
