Hello there Nightwing. I nominated you for the MEFA's in 08 and will nominate the completed story when it is finished. I live in hope that one day you will feel inspired to pick up this story again. This is the first fanfiction story I ever read, and it has never ceased to be special to me although since that time I have read many, many stories. It has not lost any of its magic, although I read primarily slash (and not Aragorn/Legolas) and only come onto this site to read you, to remember how thrilled and engrossed I was when I first happened upon 'To See A World', completely by chance. It was in fact, my introduction to fanfiction, and a beautiful one; when I received update notifications I was thrilled and stopped everything to immediately read the posted chapter. You have given many people so much pleasure with this lovely work, and I would wager that out of ever 100 people who read it, only one actually reviews. I wish you all the best, whatever is happening in your life, and I would like you to know that that I have never forgotten 'To See A World'. It is one of those rare stories that I can read again and again and become absorbed in it each and every time. God Bless and take care.

Hello Spiced Wine. I am peeping shyly round the corner and waving. I'm coming back at last. I've missed writing this story more than I realized, and plan to update within the next few weeks. See you then, I do hope! ~NW

It's been ages since I've been in here, and somehow missed the posting of your last chapter. Something got me to thinking about your story, so I checked, and sure enough, there was a chapter I had not yet read! I have just finished and sat back with a very contented sigh. But the contentment did not last long...it appears you have not added to this story for quite some time. I sincerely hope you have not given up on it! It is much, much too good for that!! I realize that with the increasing passage of time since the LOTR movies came out, people are being drawn into other pursuits. But I hope that you realize there are still those of us who follow these very well written stories...perhaps not as frequently as we once did...but we do still follow them. "To See a World" is such a pleasure to read, I would sincerely hate to see it fade into oblivion, especially unresolved! So I strongly and respectfully urge you to not give up on it!

Narya · 17 September 2009 · Chapter 8: And if Thou Wilt, Remember

I love this story :) I stumbled across it completely by accident, intending to read just one chapter, and now I'm addicted. Legolas' sorrow and anger are beautifully depicted, completely understandable and very real, as is Aragorn's grief at not being able to help his friend. Wonderful work.

Um---it's just me---Beverly. (waving) I just wanted to drop in to say that I check every few days, hoping you have up-dated. Hope all is well. Peace Beverly

Wow. I can't believe this story so far. It's totally and completely amazing. You pull everything off beautifully and it makes a realistic tale (you know, for something of fiction about elves and orcs, lol). When I first saw how long it was I was just like, 'no way.' But I clicked on it anyway and I've sat here for the past few days reading this when I caught the time, and I'm so glad I did. It has been an excellent read and I'm sad I finally reached the end of the updates. I hope that you can find time to update soon. I can't wait to see what will happen with...well, everything. It seems there is still much to happen and I can't wait to read it! Keep up your superb work! Istnes, musenapper@gmail.com

Well, if you're rusty you could have fooled me. I hope the muse is now revved and writing again because we miss him/her as do we miss you. So WONDERFUL to get an update to this story! Wow, that blade really has Legolas spooked. I can't imagine anything short of sorcery to put such dread in him. It's not like the elf to suffer a lack of self-confidence. It seems too the wound is showing signs of being tainted. What that bodes I don't know, but you have me on pins and needles wondering about it. Thank goodness he has Aragorn to aid him (even if he does beat up the Ranger in his sleep). I can't help but feel sorry for the two, the pain that they are suffering. Still, their friendship helps keep them grounded -- Legolas probably needing that more so than Aragorn. It's wonderful to have them together. That said, Aragorn is right, Legolas needs to come with him. They simply cannot be separated again. Besides, I think in the end the elf will save the day. Brina was a bit emotional, of course, but her time with Legolas and Aragorn went better than one might have expected. I love her character and hope she continues to check into this story from time to time. I secretly hope that she and Aragorn, in the end, will be able to surgically remove the sliver in Legolas' neck to heal him. I hope we'll see more of this story soon. Again, you have been missed and all I can think to say that might help keep the muse around is that you are a brilliant author and I, like many, adore this story! I say this with heartfelt sincerity!

I'm so glad to see an update and I didn't think it was 'off'. I'm still addicted and hope you catch the muze. Let Brina help you, if anyone can corner a muze it's her! *grins* Thank you for not abandonning this, it's still awesome! Thanks for sharing hugs and kisses!

Nightwing! I was so glad to see this story continued. I did a little dance when the alert showed up in my inbox. No kidding! You should have seen it. It was scary, to say the least. But enough about my lack of rhythmic coordination. Let's talk about this wonderful chapter. You've brought our heroes to the breaking point, it seems. Well, Legolas, at least, is nearing his limits, and that's saying something considering what you've already done to these guys. The dream sequence was frightening and dark, and it lingered long after he woke. He never really did shake its whispers. Throughout the chapter, he continued to feel helpless, and I don't know that Aragorn truly grasped just how helpless Legolas felt. Either that or he was deliberately staying obtuse so that Legolas didn't take his own fears so seriously. The sequence with Brina was heartwarming, even as it turned to sadness and grief. In particular, your narrative writing was brilliant. This passage, in particular, caught my attention: "You're joking," Brina exclaimed. "His hands?" Her own faltered as she started the first stitch, I love that turn around on her own hands as they faltered. A lovely linkup of events, and some very clever writing to display it. And then there's the final exchange between Aragorn and Legolas. Boy, did you hit it out of the ballpark with that one. Wow. You milked this scene for every ounce of torment and angst that you could, and you came up with a small fortune. Aragorn's growing alarm at Legolas's despair is sensed, even as he tries to underplay it, and as for the elf, he's reached new depths. His parting line to Aragorn was a brilliant, sobering note on which to end the scene, and I humbly bow before such amazing writing!

Oh ho, so now you're quoting Paul Simon too! Great minds do think alike -- and I think Paul would be pleased to be associated with a tale of quality like this. I love the dream sequence at the opening of this chapter. The image of the burning sword is so vivid, especially when the sorcerer strokes it 'like a lover.' Ooh, that sent shivers down my spine. I liked Legolas' awakening too, when he clocks Aragorn. That made me grin. The grandmother, Brina, has a great role too -- comic for the first part, although I appreciate her awe at Legolas' feat in springing Aragorn from the trap. But then you take an unexpected turn, delving into her real feelings for these men who have upheaved her village and ultimately resulted in the death of her grandson. It is that kind of real, personal emotion which lifts this story above so many others. So Aragorn and Legolas will seek out this sorcerer together, and Legolas' dreams at least do not bode well for the outcome. Oh, I am looking forward to the rest of this story. Lamiel

*singing Hallelujah* So wonderful to hear from you Nightwing. This chapter did not seem "off" at all, to me. I thought it was great. The nightmare Legolas had was very disturbing. Though he does not have the gift of sight, he feels that he may end up causing harm to Aragorn if he goes with him. I'm in the camp that thinks he would be more of an asset. He is the only one who would not be mesmerized by the sorcerer. I'm loving Brina; she is such a strong willed woman. I am hoping she will come up with a cure for Legolas. Maybe if she and Aragorn put their heads together, they can come up with something. I love the little bickering that goes on between Legolas and Aragorn over such little things. They are so like brothers. It always makes me smile. I hope that life is going okay and that we will be rewarded with another chapter soon. Of course you know we will wait, no matter how long it takes. As Always. Peace Beverly

Naledi · 17 August 2008 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Oh wow - there was nothing "off" about this chapter whatsoever. It's so good to see an update to this tale. Your description of the dream was so vivid and yet with only visual images of the sword and blood I think it conveyed very well how Legolas must dream now that he has been blind for so long. I like the way you keep returning to the sword throughout the story - it provides a real sense of focus. But I'm concerned about Legolas now - the dream seems to have shattered his confidence just when he seemed to be gaining in strength. I can't help thinking that there's something more sinister at work than just a mere dream.

I'm delighted to have another chapter of this exciting story.I was only thinking about it a few days ago.Welcome back!

sofia · 14 August 2008 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Hello! A good chapter. I enjoyed Brina and the part she played in this installment as well. You say that this chapter is a little off than from how you usually write and I noticed some differences but honestly: It's been a while since I last read this story (since the last chapter you posted to be exact) and while I can remember the story itself its been too long for me to remember your writing style. So what I'm trying to say is that there was some nagging bit of me that registered this chapter different from the rest but not enough to really make a difference on how I read it. I thought it was fine. Good job and can't wait for the next installment.

Socket · 12 August 2008 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Oh, my, this was one e-mail I wasn't expecting to see in my Inbox! But what a delight to have you back, Nightwing. Thank you for returning to this story, and please don't think that you've lost your muse -- your standards are as high as always, and I eagerly await the next chapter.

GoldenFlower · 11 August 2008 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

This is a great story! The descriptions and the emotions and all that are wonderfully written :) I can't wait for the next chapter! ~GF

Rosalind Wheadon · 11 August 2008 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Wow!!! Welcome back! I was absolutely totally delighted to see you continue with this epic tale. I loved this latest episode - it was not 'off' at all - you seemed to get straight back into the saddle. I thought the dream sequence was excellent, really menacing and so disjointed and chilling that it made me wonder if I had actually missed an update for a minute. I loved the way that you conveyed the claustrophic atmosphere of their hiding place and the way being trapped in a sort of limbo affected them. Brina was really good in this chapter - slipping easily between being a humorously scolding figure (I loved her 'holiday in Mordor' quip) to a tragic heroine who knows she must carry on in the face of her personal loss. I am just so captivated and intrigued by this story - I cannot wait to see where it goes next.

Laikwâlassê · 11 August 2008 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Hooray, another chapter. Oh, how I´ve missed my favourite story and this chapter is far from "off". It is as good as always. Please keep going. Lai

inzilbeth · 11 August 2008 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

I have only recently signed up as a member here, but I picked up this story a year or so back and read 43 chapters in one hit - that's how much I loved it! Your writing doesn't seem 'off' to me at all. Your wonderful mix of drama, humour and angst is as great as ever. I only hope you can keep the updates coming.

LifeIsRandom · 11 August 2008 · Chapter 6: In The Gathering Dark

Hello there Nightwing, I, a fellow Michigan-der would like to congratulate you on a wonderful story so far! I am looking forward to reading the rest in a timely fashion. I can only hope that our favorite Elf-Prince regains his ability to see, but the answer to that, I leave to you. :) I loved the cat too! *the reveiewer would like to apologize for any grammatical errors made in this review* :)

Tari · 11 August 2008 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

I am so glad to see another chapter posted. For Brina to be able to look past her pain to help Legoas and Aragorn says much about her character. Her grandson would have been most proud of her. I do hope, no, I am sure Aragorn and Legolas will succeed with their plan. I shall wait very patiently for the next chapter. I know you are very busy and appreciate you taking the time to write. How is your daughter doing? Tari

Alison H · 11 August 2008 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Welcome back! I'm glad your writer's block has eased somewhat.I've missed updates to this story! Legolas' dream was just dreadful and Legolas was lucky that Aragorn could smother his distress from being heard by the enemy. The blade has been a part of this story from the first chapter and Legolas seems to be at the end of his endurance. The blade is testing Legolas' sanity, it seems, and Aragorn is right to be worried.I, like Aragorn, think that Legolas is stronger than he seems but I'm not sure whether Aragorn could leave Legolas behind when he confronts the wizard. He has confidence in Legolas' abilities even if Legolas does not. I enjoyed the humour in this chapter."Going somewhere" from Aragorn had me laughing out loud as did Brina's "Ara-? Aragorn.Well, I've heard worse".That was too funny.Brina really loves to urge her patients into receiving their medicine and I suppose Legolas & Aragorn need her assertiveness. She is a wonderfully bold character and she's also very brave to stand up to the evil that has decimated her home.I'm hoping to see her again soon. I hope that real life is treating you well, Nightwing.I'm looking forward to the next chapter, whenever it may be.I still love this story and can't wait to find out how Legolas regains his sight.Update soon! Ali.
