Celeth · 5 January 2015 · Chapter 51: Where You Lead

Thank you for the update! I was so looking forward to the next chapter, and now finally we find out what happened. But so much is still unresolved: rescuing the boy, bringing Malcovan to justice, and most of all, healing Legolas' blindness. I could not bear it if the story ends without him regaining his sight, even if I know that by the time of the LOTR, there was no trace of any blindness. I hope the next chapter will come soon, even if reading about Malcovan gives me goosebumps.

thel-thalion · 12 November 2014 · Chapter 50: Lilac Wine

Yours is one of the most evocative, profound and detailed works I have ever encountered. I remember back in 2005 (has it really been that long?) this was the first fanfic I've read and it absolutely captivated me. Welcome back and I wish you all the luck in the world to finish this project successfully.

Windsinger · 21 August 2014 · Chapter 50: Lilac Wine

Yeah! Another chapter! I just love how you write Aragon and Legolas and the adventure you have sent them on is just amazing. This was one of just a few stories I have been checking on to make sure I don't miss any chapters. Very nicely written and imagined.

Linda Hoyland · 13 August 2014 · Chapter 50: Lilac Wine

Love the cat as ever.I fear there is dark magic in Legolas' wound.Eagerly awaiting more.

Marianel · 5 August 2014 · Chapter 50: Lilac Wine

I hope the boy survives they look for. I like Arath, I hope we will see more of him.Its interesting how Legolas copes with his blindness and sealonging. Lucky boy hes got Aragorn to keep him sane. I love how you make them interact and that part when Aragorn says he pities Rahmar was so wellwritten.Certainly looking forward to next chapter./take care /Marianel, Sweden

Glad to see another wonderful chapter has been posted. Hopefully that awful tonic will restore Legolas' sight.

We'll see!

I do not do well keeping up with long stories. I am sure that I have not reviewed this one either. But I had to comment on your Arath. Your "rough hill man" reminds me so much of Gimli! Yes, it began when you had him walk in on surprisingly light steps, and call Legolas "laddie". (Which, by the way, I do not believe is "Book Gimli", but it adds so perfectly to Gimli's character that if it is a "P.J. creation, it is a good one.) But your whole description of him as having a rough exterior, but a good, warm heart really tied the connection for me. I believe that when this is over, he will be one more in a list of Legolass's good friends found along the way.

Author's reply

You're right, Arath is sort of Gimli-ish. I figure anyone who carves out a living in the wild, though he may be a light-hearted guy, must also have a lot of common sense and inner resources to make it out there.

Ithilien · 2 August 2014 · Chapter 50: Lilac Wine

Woohoo! A new chapter! I am so worried about Legolas's vision of the sword and the way it is playing with his dreams. There is some kind of enchantment associated with that blade. Yet I will hold that no matter what, Legolas's blindness is what is going to defeat the sorcerer. Malcovan is evil through and through and learning that Ramhar was perhaps under a spell makes me fearful about what he is doing to the boy. I think too that Ramhar's illness has been induced through magic. I don't underestimate the sorcerer. I absolutely love the characters, as always. Arath's ability to cook but his inability to make beverages is amusing. I hope he gets to follow his dreams. I like too that each has a story of his own. Now I'm looking forward to hearing what Ramhar might have to say. I'm sure he has a story too. Thanks for the update!

Author's reply

Hey! Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. I know you're out there frolicking on the beach with margarita in hand right now. I'm happy you like my OCs. It's rather fun coming up with them and fleshing out their stories.

Naledi · 2 August 2014 · Chapter 50: Lilac Wine

I worry more and more about Legolas's wound. I'm veering toward the dark magic theory with the dark dreams and voices. Poor Legolas. (But at the same time, I do enjoy seeing him suffer, just as long as there's hope of a happy ending!) I have to agree with Aragorn. If Ramhar has been imprisoned by Malcovar's sorcery all this time, then he is greatly to be pitied, even if the evil he's done can't be forgiven. Maybe now that he can be questioned we'll find out more. And I really hope he'll tell them the whereabouts of the boy. Thanks for the great update! As ever, I can't wait for more :)

Author's reply

Thanks Naledi. Totally dark magic. Fun to play around with that evil stuff.

Naledi · 21 May 2014 · Chapter 49: After Midnight

I'm glad to see this chapter is working now. I left a review on ffnet but I couldn't log in there. It's wonderful to see a continuation to this story. I'm now rereading the whole fic to put the latest chapter into context. Any excuse to revisit one of my favourite stories! I loved seeing Aragorn and Legolas reunited with the animals from the cottage. And I wouldn't want to be in Ramhar's shoes at the moment. I have no doubt that Legolas will extract Tarnan's whereabouts from him in the shortest possible time. I'm going to enjoy seeing him suffer after all he's put Legolas through. And I hope it won't be long before Malcovan is tracked down. As Legolas realised a couple of chapters ago, his blindness will be an advantage if it really does leave him immune to Malcovan's sorcery. I'm worried about his sword wound, though. I'm torn between thinking that it's a psychological reaction to encountering the sword that's haunted his dreams for so long, and wondering if there isn't some dark magic involved. I'm sure all will be revealed in due course! Thank you for not abandoning this story! I'm looking forward to more :-)

Author's reply

Love that dark magic. Evil is not fun in real life, but gobs of fun in fiction. We loves it, we do!

Tari · 21 May 2014 · Chapter 49: After Midnight

With regards to your second statement. You go girl and don't let anyone stop you. I was hoping you would start writing again. I've been curious to see how Legolas would finally regain his sight. He's doing well for someone who can't see where he's going.

Author's reply

Right on. Full steam ahead and no looking back!

Marianel · 20 May 2014 · Chapter 49: After Midnight

A truly enjoyable story with so much tension and struggles and rivals the professor himself with depth and thought of the characters minds. One of my best fanfiction ever.Looking forward to updates.:)

Author's reply

Thanks very much. I'm happy to be back.

Lindelea · 19 May 2014 · Chapter 49: After Midnight

The problem's fixed, I'm glad to report! I emailed you a review of this chapter when you posted it. No time to leave a proper review here, but I'd just like to say I look forward to what comes next. (Though it sounds very ominous, whatever there is ahead of us...)

Author's reply

I'm so glad the problem has been resolved. I'm such a useless dork when it comes to technical computer stuff, I actually thought that I somehow was the one who caused all of the uploading problems for myself AND everyone else, since it was my first time putting up a new chapter in almost six years. "Oh no, I killed Stories of Arda!" Sheesh...

Lossenchristal2 · 17 May 2014 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Just to let you know that I WAS able to read your new chapter when you had it up - I discovered that if I clicked on the "View All Chapters" link instead of the individual chapter links, it would show me the whole story fine, including the new chapter! This worked with Lindelea's stories too & others who had recently posted updates. But if I click on the individual new chapter link, it would give me the "Interal Server Error" page. Hopefully they will figure out this bug & fix it soon! Love your story BTW! :) ~Lossenchristal

Author's reply

Thanks for letting me know that. I'll try to upload again and see if I can add on that helpful hint!

Lindelea · 16 May 2014 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Yes, dreams often do mean something in JRRT's world! I like your Brina. She breathes life. A tense and unsettling chapter. Looking forward to more.

Author's reply

I'm having the upload problem too. Chapter 49 is the new one, and I cannot get it to work here. Boo.

Tari · 16 May 2014 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Your back! It's wonderful to see you posting again. I know there were health issues involved with a family member and hope all is well now. Legolas is in such pain and despair that he's reached bottom and the only way he can go is up. I hope it happens soon and that he regains his sight.

Author's reply

I'm back, but unfortunately my new chapter isn't uploading. It looks like some other authors are having problems too. If you'd like to see Chapter 49, go to "the big website". I'm called Nightwing6 there. But I'll keep trying to get it to work here.

_SpicedWine_ · 16 May 2014 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

I cannot say how thrilled I am that you are continuing this story, Nightwing, and with no loss of pace or anything else to indicate you'd ever been away. It's wonderful to see an update (could not get on yesterday due to some glitch on this site, but now it seems fine. The sword and Legolas, it feels as if it is eating parts of him, and the fact that the place where the dart struck him seems to be getting worse, the pains in his neck and head make me truly fear for him. Let me see if this review actually posts...But again, welcome back! ♥

Author's reply

I think what you read was the previous chapter. My new one - Chapter 49 - is still not working. I deleted it last night since it was making all the other chapters wonky. "The other site" is working OK though. :/

_SpicedWine_ · 26 April 2014 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Dear Nightwing, Oh my gosh! I just saw your reply notification from this archive. I couldn't even remember my old login details as it's been so long since I looked here, so I had to create a new account just to say: I am THRILLED that you are coming back! I was only talking about this story a couple of weeks ago. I put it up on the recommendations at the archive I post at, because I am one of those people who don't forget. I do hope that you are well, and can't tell you how much I am looking forward to an update. I am so excited! It will also give me another opportunity to read it all again from the beginning. Welcome back, and thank-you! {{{Hugs}}}

Author's reply

Hello my dear! I can't upload my new chapter here for some reason. Got an email in asking for help. I am hopeless when it comes to computer stuff - I must be doing something wrong. Meanwhile, the new chapter is up at "that other big site". But I'm sad that I can't get it to work here. :(

Whilom · 26 April 2014 · Chapter 37: Helpless

I've been ripping through the chapters of this story for the past week (it's been a long time since fanfic has had me so thoroughly engrossed!) and I have loved every second of it. But last night I woke up with a horrifying thought and confirmed it this morning--the story is incomplete and hasn't been updated for several years. Any chance that it'll be finished or that you could provide a brief summary of what happens? I'm dying for some closure, and I know it'll be hard to get through the next ten chapters of wonderfulness without having some idea of what happens after they end. Also, any chance you could direct me to the other story you mention having posted on the Mellon Chronicles site? The site's down and it's a tragedy to have all these great stories just out of reach!

Author's reply

Ah, the kid finally remembers how to log in and leave a reply. As you now know, I'm still here, and working on it at long last. See you soon.

caseymochridh · 11 October 2013 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

I have loved this story and followed it from your first posting here and at Fanfiction. So happy you have picked it up again. Please continue it and bring it to the fine finish I know you are capable of writing! Thank you for the pleasure of reading this story!

Author's reply

Hello! I will be back and intend to finish the story. Sorry about my long absence. ~NW

Winterwitch · 16 February 2013 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

(Crossposted from fanfiction.net, since I don't know where you might be reading it) What a wonderful and satisfying read! I'm rather new to Tolkien fanfiction (late last year), and this exceptional story has accompanied me over the first few weeks of the new year in a very comforting and fulfilling way. I was at the time going through a process of diagnosis for low-grade eye damage myself (Grave's disease, nothing really bad, but unsettling enough at the beginning), so Legolas's situation and his dealing with it touched me also on a very personal level, apart from the fact that this kind of hurt/comfort is my favourite genre of fanfiction. Your tale is extremely well-written as well as realistic and plausible, be it the plot and storyline (with one small exception: I find it highly unlikely that either Aragorn or Legolas would leave their weapons out of reach in such a foreign country, like at the opening of the story. But this is really only a minor thing and well acceptable for storytelling reasons), be it the characterisations and their relationships, and particularly the way Legolas experiences his blindness, comes to terms with it, and deals with the consequences. I am in no position to judge the realism of the latter (I thankfully still have full vision and, with a little luck, will keep it), but it sounds very logic and real, and is very obviously based on careful research. This kind of research is also something I appreciate so very much, particularly in a fanfiction, and shows how much love and honest work went into this wonderful tale. Aragorn and the friendship between him and Legolas work so well here and is so well done, another big highlight of the story, as are the very real and three-dimensional supporting characters and animals. (Sock stealing! My own bunch of furrybutts has all kind of strange habits, but we never had a sock-stealer.) Throughout the reading I was happy to read your intention of finishing this story, despite everything that life obviously threw in your way, though after the time now relapsed since the last update I fear this is no longer valid. Know that you have a new faithful reader in me should you ever continue, very eager to hear how the tale continues and what became of Aragorn and Legolas. My mind wanders away all the time, particularly trying to imagine what homecoming would mean for Legolas, and what his life has still in store for him. Reading about your intention to not have him regain his sight is very satisfying as well. In real life, miracles like these very rarely happen, and the lot of us usually has to deal with the consequences of what life deals us, be it small or large, like in Legolas's case. But of course, as a mere reader I won't dare to ask or suggest this or that route, just will hang in happily for the ride if there ever is going to be one. Thank you very much for creating this wonderful story and for sharing it with us!

Hi Winterwitch, thanks so much for this lovely review. I plan to update and continue soon. ~NW

Elenora · 30 May 2012 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Hello! Couldn't sleep and was surfing the Internet, checking on unfinished LOTR stories for updates. I hope you have not decided to permanenatly shelve this story - it is one of the best that I've read, and it would be such a shame to see it fade into oblivion. Perhaps writer's block has reared its ugly head...or "real life" has forced you to put this story on the back burner, but I hope that this little note might encourage you to take it up again and bring it to a conclusion. There are still a few of us out here, doggedly following those few good stories worth following...and "To See A World" is one of those stories!

Author's reply

Hello Elenora, I'm coming back. An update is in the works at long last. See you then. ~NW

Bakoneko · 7 January 2012 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Need... more... story! I just had to come back and reread this fic again. It's on my regular rotation. =) Don't leave us hanging here forever, please!!

Robinscat · 11 April 2011 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

Hi, I have been away from fanfiction for a while. I came back hoping to see the story finished, I am saddened that it seems to be in limbo. This was one of the best stories, in my opinion, that was being written. I understand about real life coming first and fan fiction taking a back seat. I hope Nightwing is safe and well, that her family is healthy and happy. Perhaps she will come back to this story, I hope and prey she does.

Author's reply

Hi Robinscat. Nightwing is starting to get her groove back. Hope to update soon. ~NW

Mandy · 24 March 2011 · Chapter 48: In Dreams

I was really enjoying this story, but it seems to have faded away. Is there any chance you'll finish it or should I stop checking back? It's been 2 1/2 yrs now....
