It made my day to see this update, and the content didn't let me down. I especially enjoyed the wonderful and thought provoking interaction between Elladan and Eomer
....“I anticipate an enjoyable evening,” Elladan said, his eyes twinkling, “save for the bathing; Aragorn may need assistance he does not wish to receive.”
“I will leave that challenge to you,” Éomer chuckled. ......
I do pity the person who has to attempt this now that Aragorn is recovering!!!
Can't wait for details on the upcoming evening!

Another very nice chapter. Good to see Aragorn finally starting down the recovery part of the road, and so sweet to read of Elladan's care for him. I like the idea of the twins staying on at Minas Tirith to teach the healers. I always like to read 4th Age (or nearly 4th Age) stories that include what their choices might have been. I think my favorite line in this one is Eomer's: "“Had he been less stubborn, he would have faltered long before this...” How very true! Stubbornness is so often portrayed as a fault, but it can be a strength as well. Nice touch, that.
Author's reply
Thank you. It's fun to see characters through the eyes of others.
It was lovely of the Professor to leave so much "unsaid" (such as the choice(s) of Elladan and Elrohir), wasn't it? I also enjoyed speculating a bit about that in my story "Mind to Mind".

Excllent story. I enjoy stories from just after the battles and early in Aragorn's reign. There had to have been so much happening that there are many areas for speculation. I also think that he had to have "collapsed" at some point once he could relax.
Thank you
Author's reply
Thank you very much. I agree, there's so much time during the Professor's tale in which we could imagine different scenarios, and an infinite number of "what if's". I've written several stories centering on Cormallen and post-Quest Minas Tirith, and I never tire of exploring the possibilities. :)

Lemon water sounds good. Do you suppose there is any room left in that tent for me. I don't mind sharing with Estel!
Author's reply
I think we should all get to stay in that tent. I'll have Gimli get to work on expanding it!

Well! I'm the worst reviewer on earth.
Aragorn: Yes, you are.
Shush. Oh, that's not real Aragorn, that's only the muse!Aragorn. I brought him back after suffering from angsty relapses from With Hope and Without Hope... not a fic for the faint of heart, mind you! He frequented my reviews back when I was younger (you are likely laughing at this point, aren't you? ;P) and I thought that he needed to appear once more.
Aragorn: You're babbling. Get on with the story.
Right, right. Well, the whole premise is, of course, fantastic! Aragorn falling ill because he's overworked himself. I love it.
Aragorn: You would.
Yes, I would. Anyways, there is nothing that I don't love- Gimli's ingenious with the bunk beds, Aragorn's confusion, the hobbits and their ultimate cuddliness... oh, it's all perfect! I want to live in your Middle-earth. Even in sickness everything would be fluffy and adorable :)
I'll be down your way very soon for the Comic Con. Tolkien-related panels are on the rise again! I can't wait for the Hobbit, when they come out in full bloom :)
Can't wait until you continue this, of course!
Cheers.
Author's reply
Thank you, Suvi. Yes, "my" Middle-earth is distressingly fluffy and adorable, but that's what makes me happy. :)
I might brave the Comic Con throngs again in a year or two, once The Hobbit is back on the radar.

I don't know how I missed this chapter - this is such a delightful tale - I really would hate it if I failed to complete the reading...
I laughed so much during this chapter... really fun - and dear Gimli and the bed and poor Aragorn and dearest Pip guarding...
And I really ROTFL with the last lines....
Thank you for such a nice way to end the day......

Poor Aragorn. It's not fun when you're so out of it that you're badly confused. Been there myself a couple of times. However, he's in the best of hands w/his brothers and the hobbits by his side.
So...Gimli's the one who invented the bunkbed? How very clever of him. ;o) Loved Pippin realizing why he was so uneasy about the top bunk and why. Yet another example of how the events of the War changed and matured our favourite Took.
I do hope that Frodo changes his mind about Lemon Water eventually. There's nothing more refreshing than Lemonade on a hot sweltering day. We have Raspberry Lemonade available up here in Canada. At least in my region of Canada. So very, very good. Sam's realization that Lemon in Tea would be an excellent idea is priceless. :oD
So...Now that Aragorn's a wee bit better, the real battle will begin. To keep that stubborn Dunadan in bed!!
As always, very much looking forward to the next chapter. :o)
Author's reply
Mmmm, I absolutely love raspberry lemonade (and raspberry iced tea). Maybe those are the combinations Frodo needs to try someday!
Thank you so much, Tigger. :)

:) Love the innocence of Pippin indeed guarding his king, even if asleep on his chest.

“See?” Sam said. “Strider thinks it’s wonderful.”
“Strider is ill,” Frodo said firmly.
This is delightful! And I love how busy everybody is worrying about everybody else.
Oh, and another favorite line: “It’s not my place to say, but Strider should be resting more and talking less,” Sam said, shaking his head in disapproval. He held out the spoon so Frodo could taste the stew. “I’ve not heard so many questions from one person in all my life.”
“You’re right, Sam,” Pippin agreed.
You have a wonderful slightly biting humor in your tone. And though I can't think of the word (it isn't quite irony) the idea of Pippin agreeing that it's amazing how many questions one can ask is just hilarious!
Great chapter, Janet!
Author's reply
Thank you for highlighting two of my favorite passages! Yes, turnabout is fair play. Now that the hobbits are the ones doing the tending, they're the ones amused by the persistence and curiosity of their 'patient'.

The hobbits are doing a splendid job of guarding Aragorn. I love Sam's enjoyment of the 'lemon water'. That's great. Usually it's one of the others that gets caught up with some type of food or drink and it's fun to see Sam enjoying himself a bit. Gimli needs to come to my house when he's finished and build things here. I need stuff! LOL
Looking forward to more and enjoying every word!
Author's reply
Aragorn has spent so much of his life guarding hobbits, it's fun to turn the tables a little. Gimli has a little free time next month, so he's going to squeeze you in between rebuilding the gates of Minas Tirith and colonizing the glittering caves.
I'm so glad you're enjoying this. :)

Ah, so THAT'S how the practice of putting lemon in tea began, did it? Heh! Poor Frodo--having to dodge lemons and deal with stubborn friends who happen to be king and Dwarves who seem to be made to be constantly constructing something--or destructing something--or chopping something, and wood will do when there are no orc necks to hew....
Love the bunk beds and the decision to keep Frodo on the bottom bunk.
And Frodo's rear is still sore? Heh!
Author's reply
Thank you, Larner. Our resourceful gardener is quick to pick up on any new innovations and flavor combinations, much to Frodo's dismay.

“What’s wrong, Mr. Frodo?” Sam asked.
“Nothing,” Frodo smiled. “Sorry, Sam. I know you wouldn’t put any lemon in here.”
“In tea!” Sam said with delight. “Sir, what a wonderful idea!”
ROTFL!!! Poor Frodo! That was not what he intended. But maybe he can be persuaded to taste HIS new invention. And then he'll like it :)
It was very nice of Merry and Pippin to give Frodo the bottom bed. But will they feel comfortable up there? I have my doubts.
And I hope Elladan will give Strider enough answers to make him relax again. He needs it.
Author's reply
Thanks, Andrea! It's such a pleasure to give the hobbits something *really* dangerous to worry about, like stealthy lemons ending up where they shouldn't be. This chapter was really a hoot to write.

Lemon, in tea, now there's a novel idea! Well they are already putting honey in, so why not lemon?
So Gimli invented bunk beds did he, smart dwarf, if he builds some for himself and Legolas who gets the top bunk?
I think I know just how Aragorn feels, totally washed out and in need of some TLC. I agree with Samom if Aragorn wants to wear pants, let him!
Hope he feels better soon.
More please,
Lynda

The image of Gimli and Legolas in bunk beds makes me grin.
"Samom" is certainly the voice of reason in a very confusing situation, isn't he? What a dear hobbit.

Sweet chapter! Poor Strider ... no one giving him a straight answer when he wants to know what's wrong with him, and still dizzy. I'm feeling miserable on his behalf.
Maybe Frodo would like lemon-water better if someone added a bit of sugar. ;)
Author's reply
Poor Strider, all those non-answers are probably making him even dizzier.
Yes, now someone needs to realize that a bit of sugar or honey would make that drink much more palatable. :)

What a fun chapter! Gimli invents bunk beds! *grin*
I love all the little hobbity interactions here--just delightful! I had a feeling all along that Pippin wasn't really asleep--and lo and behold, he wasn't, LOL! And poor confused Aragorn. He's just not used to being sick, is he? It's a good thing his brothers are there as well as his hobbits. The picture of Elladan carrying him was wonderful!
Frodo doesn't like lemonade? I'm surprised! But apparently Sam's really taking to it!
Author's reply
Alas, lemon-water is not exactly lemonade -- no sweetener! Sam and Pippin have more of a taste for 'sour' things than Frodo, apparently.
