Gandalf felt that after enduring the barren and poisonous land of Mordor, Frodo and Sam would benefit greatly from constant sunshine (or starshine), green smells, and fresh, gentle breezes; therefore, their beds were kept out-of-doors during their recovery. Each evening, when the air cooled and the stars shone one by one, with his own hands Aragorn wrapped the two hobbits in soft coverings that would not abrade their healing cuts and burns. Touching the brow of each, he sang soft, ancient rhythms to ensure that their dreams were gentle, their spirits soothed. I love Aragorn so so so muchhhhh “And so have you,” Pippin said. “You and Legolas didn’t fool us for a second. The two of you have never come to “visit” so heavily armed before. Did you think we believed that story about simply stopping by to chat?” THIS XD “That’s good enough for me,” Merry said firmly, his faith in his shield-sister's brother unshakeable. He strode to where Éomer’s cloak lay crumpled on the ground, and spread it out to dry over one of the chairs. Aww Merry’s would be extremely loyal to Eomer “You will not sleep on the ground, Master Baggins, while I have anything to say about it,” Gimli declared. “At least, not after tonight.” He easily pushed the last bed into place, then left the tent -- rain or no rain – to inspect the pieces of lumber that remained piled at the dock. I love Gimli :) “his hobbits” skajdjdjsj awwwwww “Hobbits,” came a chuckle from outside the tent. “As stubborn as mules.” “Come in, Gandalf,” Pippin called out. The tent flap parted, and the wizard entered, wringing water out of his beard. SKAJDJF GANDALF XDDD WRINGING THE WATER FROM HIS BEARD LOL I suppose it really is pouring “You’re wet,” Merry pointed out. Gandalf sighed in a long-suffering manner. “Thank you, Merry, I hadn’t noticed.” 😂 “You need another hat,” Pippin observed. “Maybe Gimli can make you one.” LOL PIPPIN he probably would but would Gandalf wear it?

THIS MEANS ITS POURING ON ARAGORN hehe ELLADAN AND ELROHIRRRRRR (and Eomer too of course), I love Aragorn’s brothers so much Ooh makes sense they would search for them. I love that they’re armed just in case, my protective boys <3 “As for fire, I suspect that Samwise has all in readiness, in anticipation of your return,” Éomer said. He turned Firefoot towards the hobbits’ tent, and Roheryn followed. “The best and most trusted healers in camp, Frodo, besides Aragorn, just left to find him. The sons of Elrond are quite skilled; after the attack on Minas Tirith, they toiled beside Aragorn for many days tending the wounded.” Yessss see I love them Aragorn found himself actually clutching the grass in an effort to assure himself that his head was what was spinning, not the very earth on which he lay. He heard Roheryn gallop away, and immediately began berating himself for not thinking of simply sending the horse back to camp alone. If Frodo fell from such a height, at such a speed... Of course his reason for sending his horse alone WOULD solely be for fearing for Frodo’s safety whiles Frodo’s fear would be for Aragorn’s safety <3 What is wrong with me? Aragorn found he had barely the strength to lift his head. I have not felt this drained since challenging Sauron in the Seeing Stone. But even then I was able to stand, with Halbarad's help. I NEED THIS SCENE I NEED IT Barely able to stand hes so drained, but supported by Halbarad His heart ached for his fallen cousin, for the family that did not yet know of the battle, or their loss. Skakdkf I hate his death so much 😭😭😭😭 Is he laying on the ground at this point I assume? Ooh not sending hes in pain and so the profound weakness/dizziness is befuddling Awwww I love Legolas and Gimli staying to distract the hobbits “I always prefer truth over falsehood” yessss

ARAGORN SICK? I’m in love.

Periantari · 8 July 2023 · Chapter 5: In the Keeping of the Hobbits

Miss your h/c soooo much ! Rereading for nostalgia’s sake and also for inspiration for my own fic.;)

PSW · 6 December 2015 · Chapter 13: A Hobbit Walking Party

Very nice! Good ending to another good story! I'm glad Frodo's changed his mind about the lemons -- lemons just add something. ;-) Thanks for writing!

Author's reply

I love lemons, and hopefully Frodo's appreciation of them will grow and grow. Thank you so much for reading.

PSW · 5 December 2015 · Chapter 12: Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

Very interesting conversation -- I had never really thought of Aragorn's reign quite that way, but it's an accurate picture. He will very much be a servant king, but I don't think he would have it any other way...

Author's reply

I put a lot of thought and research into this conversation. I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

PSW · 5 December 2015 · Chapter 10: A Merry Evening

That does sound like a fun evening, and good company! But poor Aragorn, having to watch everyone else sit around and drink the ale. That's sad... :-P

Author's reply

I would love to have been in that tent during this lovely party. Thank goodness for fanfic so we can at least go there in our imaginations.

PSW · 4 December 2015 · Chapter 9: Knights of the City

Yes, what it must be like for the twins to see him now -- about to be crowned, when they have known him as so many other things his whole life...

PSW · 4 December 2015 · Chapter 8: Making Progress

Oh good...everyone seems to be blaming themselves for something, the twins might as well get in on the act too... :-P

Author's reply

It was interesting weaving the twins into the story. :)

PSW · 4 December 2015 · Chapter 6: When Life Gives You Lemons...

Nope...never heard of anyone who asked so many questions... :-P Lemon in water, lemon in tea...sounds good to me! And bunk beds -- of course Gimli could think of something like that...

Author's reply

Good old Gimli. :)

PSW · 4 December 2015 · Chapter 5: In the Keeping of the Hobbits

Also, leave it to Gandalf to confuse the sick person...

Author's reply

I think Gandalf truly enjoys speaking in riddles! :)

PSW · 4 December 2015 · Chapter 5: In the Keeping of the Hobbits

His young brother. :-) Only Elves could think that about a 90-ish year old...

Author's reply

Isn't that a fun idea? How young and reckless Elves must look upon all mortals, including their very special foster brother.

PSW · 4 December 2015 · Chapter 3: Sanctuary

Boy, Aragorn's going to have more help and tending than he knows what to do with. He'll probably go completely insane before it's over.. :-P

Author's reply

Aragorn deserves a little help and tending! I really enjoyed writing this.

Queen Galadriel · 22 August 2011 · Chapter 13: A Hobbit Walking Party

Aww! I really thought I had read this before; maybe I have and just don't remember. Anyway, it was a huge mood-booster, which I really needed. I love that in this story the Hobbits took care of Aragorn for a change, and then the care became mutual. Just so sweet! Thank you so much!

Author's reply

It's lovely to hear from you again! I'm so happy this story made you smile.

Lily Baggins · 19 March 2010 · Chapter 13: A Hobbit Walking Party

Ah, yes, Frodo found the best use for lemons yet! And gosh, what if the hobbits discovered limes? Or fajitas with lime juice? Think of the possibilities! I'd really pay ten year's salary to wake up and see four hobbits looking at me and smiling. I really would. This was an awesomely beautiful story, and I apologize for not reviewing the last chapter before now. That was horribly negligent of me. In fact, this is one of my favorite stories of yours---and one of my favorite stories period. There's something definitely to be said about a story that makes you feel happy and light-hearted and in a good mood after reading---this one is a real pick-me-up, which I needed when you wrote it and need again now. Thank you for such a lovely reading experience.

Author's reply

I wish there was some way for us to see each other more often, but until we figure it out, at least we can write goodies that makes the other smile and feel better. There are stories of yours, long and short, that I still read over and over. Thank you so much for letting me know how much you enjoyed this. I never would have written it if not for you. Omigosh, hobbits discovering limes and all their uses! That's a 'tipsy' scene you really should explore sometime. *grins* *hugs you all up*

Lily Baggins · 19 March 2010 · Chapter 12: Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

Oh, this chapter is so wonderfully soothing! It's a balm to my work-ridden mind, honestly. I can almost smell the athelas wafting in the air as I read---and the lemonade. :) Great explanation of Aragorn's healing abilities, and yes, I imagine Frodo would wonder at Aragorn's new life, wouldn't he? I enjoyed the exploration of that here.

Author's reply

Thank you so much. I thought and thought and THOUGHT about ways for Aragorn to explain to Frodo what had happened, and how. Bless the Professor for being so vague about Aragorn's 'gifts' and letting us imagine things as we will.

Lily Baggins · 19 March 2010 · Chapter 11: The Hands of the King

Awww, four hobbits in a tub!!! Gosh, I adore this scene. What could be better than that? Oh, I know---tipsy Frodo! Or better yet, tipsy Frodo with a headache in need of some TLC! Love the last bit, especially, with Aragorn wanting to help Frodo and Frodo reluctant. Of course he'd worry the same thing would happen again. On to the next chapter again now---eeeeee!!!!!!1

Author's reply

Rub-a-dub-dub, four hobbits in a tub!

Lily Baggins · 19 March 2010 · Chapter 10: A Merry Evening

I'm in great need of a warm, fluff-filled hurt/comfort story and am re-reading this from start to finish. I just realized I had also never left reviews for the last portion---eeeek!!!!!! I believe you were finishing it as I was offline for a time. Anyway, to remedy that. :) I adored this chapter----everything about it! Merry-making and sharing a meal and hobbits and sleeping Aragorn---what's not to like? Adorable.

Author's reply

Thanks, Lily! It's really gratifying to know that I've written things that get re-read and enjoyed. Thank you *again* for inspiring this story, which I thoroughly enjoyed writing.

cookiefleck · 25 November 2008 · Chapter 13: A Hobbit Walking Party

A lovely ending to your story. Kudos! And the lemons became characters in their own right, hah. This has been an enjoyable read... thanks.

Author's reply

Thank you, Cookie. When I started writing this, I never dreamed that the thread that would wind through this story would be lemons!

Gentle Hobbit · 24 November 2008 · Chapter 13: A Hobbit Walking Party

I like this last chapter very much. It is full of what you do best: warm and friendly hobbit chatter and banter. It felt a good way to end the story, and as much as I'm sorry there will be no more of this story, I feel contented with such a gentle and warm finish. I am also very aware of the new sacrifice Frodo is making! Learning to like lemons for Sam's sake is a heroic endeavour indeed!

Author's reply

Thank you very much. Whenever I can end a story "gentle and warm", you know I'll do so. How I love Frodo and Sam -- what a friendship. :)

Grey Wonderer · 23 November 2008 · Chapter 13: A Hobbit Walking Party

I saved this one for the last of my weekend so that I could end the weekend with a smile and start the week in a happy mood. Thanks for posting such a lovely story. This is my favorite bit from this chapter: (((((“I am awake,” Aragorn said, opening his eyes. The sight before him would remain in his memory for the rest of his days: four hobbits smiling, eating, and gazing at him with fondness in their eyes.))))) Everyone should have such a memory! Lovely!

Author's reply

so that I could end the weekend with a smile and start the week in a happy mood What a lovely thing to say! Thank you for trusting me to end stories in a light, 'hobbity' way. I'm so happy you enjoyed it. :)

grumpy · 22 November 2008 · Chapter 13: A Hobbit Walking Party

Lemon pie, lemon pudding, lemon tarts, and now, lemon water with raspberries with honey, which sounds really good, I must go and try some. Aragorn is much better for his time with the hobbits. Glad to see that the hobbits are bringing plenty of food with them, on they walking trip. Should be the first thing in the pack. Loved reading your story, and glad that the twins are going to stick arround.

Author's reply

Thank you, Grumpy. I like to think that anyone would be cheered and more 'grounded' after spending time with hobbits.

Mysterious Jedi · 22 November 2008 · Chapter 13: A Hobbit Walking Party

Excellent little story. Aragorn needs healing too, sometimes! I always enjoy some good hurt/comfort with a happy ending.

Author's reply

Thank you so much. I never tire of this type of story, either! :)

Antane · 21 November 2008 · Chapter 13: A Hobbit Walking Party

The calm before the storm...an ache because Frodo is not Frodo as he will discover, but how nice to see him happy here. He is still someone Bilbo and everyone else will indeed be forever proud of. Love that Frodo and Sam have come to some agreement about lemons and love also Aragorn's happiness at seeing his friends happy. That was sweet. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thank you so much. I couldn't let this end without our sweet hobbits "just being hobbits", and having a calm, peaceful time together.

julchen11 · 21 November 2008 · Chapter 13: A Hobbit Walking Party

What a wonderful last chapter. It's so heartwarming and lovingly written, dear. Your love for the characters, especially for hobbits, is to feel in every single words and even between the lines. Thank you so much for this brilliant story, it's one of my favourites from now on. Excellent work, sweetie. I simply LOVE it!

Author's reply

These stories are certainly written with love, and I'm so glad they have that feeling. Thank you so much! :D
