Larner · 2 February 2009 · Chapter 29: Chapter 29

Ah! What a custom of bravado and showmanship and skill--and I can see why he didn't forewarn her! Poor Imrahil--must have stolen a year or so from him! But now it's done, and the marriage is made! May it be a joyful choice for both!

Author's reply

Hello Larner, I have to admit that the scene from the books where he throws his sword in the air is one of my favourites, so I could not resist reusing it here. But you're right that poor Imrahil probably aged a decade in that single instant! And I hope they fill find lots of joy in their marriage. Lia

daw the minstrel · 2 February 2009 · Chapter 29: Chapter 29

A gown meant to impress, as functional in its way as a suit of armour That's a wonderful point. I love the way she rides off, leaving Eomer to catch up. Abduct him, indeed. What wonderful vows. Are those canon in some way or did you make them up? Also I like the way his sword represents his honor, which he puts in her keeping.

Author's reply

Hello Daw, somehow I think she has no need to abduct Eomer ;-) The vows are my invention and I'm pleased to hear you liked them! I wanted to take up the word game with kennings from an earlier chapter, so that seemed a good opportunity. Lia

Lainey · 29 January 2009 · Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Hello! I became aware of your stories a few months ago and I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy and admire your work! Your stories are consistently amazing! Thanks for writing!

Author's reply

Hello Lainey, thank you for your kind words! I've had lots of fun writing my stories, so it's really nice to hear that I'm able to pass that on to my readers. Thanks for reviewing. Lia

whitewave · 28 January 2009 · Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Oh! I loved this one, especially her outburst and her threat to abduct Eomer. LOL--ain't love grand? Wonder how she will do that --but then Eomer will be a most willing abductee. The scene with Amrothos, Wuffa, Imrahil was delightful--it just screams re-read! Can't wait to read about the wedding! The last scene was priceless, especially when you brought back that lovely scene back in the second (?) chapter. You're so good with details.

Author's reply

Hello Whitewave, they might end up squabbling over who gets to abduct whom - although I suppose they could take turns ;-) And I like to take things up from earlier chapters, so resolving what Eomer said to that little girl has been on my list for a long time. Now onwards to the wedding! Lia

galimeril · 27 January 2009 · Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Hey there, another bloody wonderful installment. Are you sure you don't write historical romances proffesionally on the side? You really make my day, *squee!*

Author's reply

Hello Galimeril, no, I don't write professionally - unless I do so in my sleep and haven't noticed ;-) But I might make a foray into original writing with my next project - however, that's not certain yet. Lia

Larner · 27 January 2009 · Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Ah, dear--the audacity and urgency of youth! Heh! And I do think Imrahil GOT the idea! Heh! Wonderful decision to see the marriage made.

Author's reply

Hello Larner, yes, I think Imrahil did get the idea ;-) Now it's the wedding coming up in the next two chapters and then the story is nearly over. It's a strange feeling! Lia

Alquawende · 27 January 2009 · Chapter 28: Chapter 28

An excellent chapter, Lia! I love how Lothiriel stood up for herself and made herself heard. It's so true that the men around her controlled her choices and decisions. However, Imrahil's argument was a good one too. He's honestly looking out for the best interests of his daughter, even if his ways to get there are different. >>“I will marry Éomer even if…if…if I have to abduct him!” LOL! :) Thanks for writing!

Author's reply

Hello Alquawende, I agree with you that Imrahil in his own way is trying to look out for her. He just didn't realise that he's rather late with his efforts. But I think he sees her more clearly now, how much she's grown up - there will be a little bit more on his motives in the next chapter. It's good to hear you're still enjoying the story! Lia

Cuthalion · 27 January 2009 · Chapter 28: Chapter 28

“I will marry Éomer even if…if…if I have to abduct him!” *snickers* And now I'll go to bed with the delightful imagination of the Princess, hauling the King of Rohan through the stables of Meduseld and carrying him away on the back of Nimphelos like a potato sack. Beautifully done! Mona

Author's reply

Hello Mona, that's actually the picture I had in my mind too! I can see her galloping off into the sunset, with Eomer thrown across her saddle, to have her wicked ways with him ;-) Lia

daw the minstrel · 27 January 2009 · Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Oh, Wuffa! LOL. From the mouths of babes comes truth. I absolutely love Lothiriel's threat to abduct Eomer. What a sweet reversal of the usual cliches. Lovely time in the stables. :-)

Author's reply

Hello Daw, in my experience that kind of thing always comes out, so it was really only a matter of time. And I've been wondering whether I could come up with a scenario where Lothiriel abducts Eomer, but have so far come up with a blank - but I'm still thinking on it ;-) Lia

Cuthalion · 24 January 2009 · Chapter 27: Chapter 27

Wonderful strong chapter. Too bad that it was Imrahil who spied them, but it won't change the outcome. Éomer knows what he wants, and he will get it, of course. And the midnight conversation between Éowyn and Lothiriel was very believable. Mona

Author's reply

Hello Mona, I do like to have my bit of fun with them, so of course it was Imrahil ;-) But I think they both know exactly what they want, so have a good chance of getting it. And I'm pleased to hear you liked the conversation with Eowyn, I felt it was time for the two to make up. Lia

Linda Hoyland · 23 January 2009 · Chapter 27: Chapter 27

I'm glad Eowyn and Lothiriel are reconciled through their shared horrors. I hope imrahil will soon give his consent to the marriage.Another very enjoyable chapter.

Author's reply

Hello Linda, I get the feeling that Imrahil is slowly coming round to the idea after his initial shock. The next chapter will afford him the opportunity to observe Lothiriel in Rohan and perhaps that will help. Thanks for reviewing! Lia

daw the minstrel · 18 January 2009 · Chapter 27: Chapter 27

I trust that Imrahil is perceptive enough to see what's between his daughter and Eomer. Though I suppose her family does tend to underestimate her. I'm glad she and Eowyn are groping their way to understanding.

Author's reply

I think that Imrahil had a bit of an eye-opener and is slowly warming to the idea of their marriage. But you are right that her family still underestimates her. Perhaps seeing her in Rohan might change that. Thanks for reviewing! Lia

daw the minstrel · 18 January 2009 · Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Oh lovely. I've been out of town and came back to two chapters! I love Eomer in this one. Lothiriel is right. He's a wily campaigner.

Author's reply

Hello Daw, sorry for being so late with my reply to your review, but my youngest has been ill all week, so I was very busy. However, I'm pleased to hear you liked Eomer putting his campaigning skills to work ;-) Lia

Larner · 17 January 2009 · Chapter 27: Chapter 27

So, THAT'S who caught them out, is it--Dad and all three brothers? Heh! Poor thing! And Dad's not so willing to forgive Eomer, although it's plain where the wind of their hearts blows? He's lost her to Eomer already, though; and he's coming to know this as they reach Meduseld at the last. At least that nightmare has brought some good as Eowyn finally gives over her own anger. Knowing that Grima tried the same with Lothiriel he'd tried with her helped ease the resentment, apparently. Now, it's just a matter of time....

Author's reply

Hello Larner, yes, poor Imrahil had a bit of a shock, but I think he's slowly coming round to the idea of his daughter as Queen of the Mark. After all it's not exactly a bad match, is it. So he might choose not to fight a losing battle. And like you said, one good thing came out of Lothiriel's nightmares if it makes the two women reconcile. Thanks for reviewing. Lia

Alquawende · 16 January 2009 · Chapter 27: Chapter 27

This is an excellent chapter! I love your Eowyn because she is not just a fierce warrior woman, as she is portrayed often in fanfic, but one who is soft inside and seems to really just want a peaceful life with the man she loves. >>“Yes. But Gríma threatened to use me to disgrace Éomer. So I ran. As far away as I could manage.”...“I ran too,” she whispered, her face a pale oval in the darkness. “All the way to Gondor.”... “And did you find your glory?”...“So they say. But it’s easy to be heroic when you have nothing to lose.”<< This passage really stands out for me. Eowyn's words are so true. Thanks for writing!

Author's reply

Hello Alqua, as they say, courage is not the absence of fear, but rather acting despite of it and I think Eowyn has discovered this. I like to think that she has changed since Lothiriel met her in the early chapters and that this makes her see the world in a different way. Thanks for reviewing. Lia

whitewave · 16 January 2009 · Chapter 27: Chapter 27

Imrahil! Oh gosh and the three brothers--what a delicious scene! Amrothos is priceless as usual, he's my favorite! He must have been so surprised judging from his thunderstruck "loquaciousness". Ivriniel's "closing" remark is the cherry on the cream--I can imagine how the others' faces must have looked like, Eomer obviously charmed her thoroughly. I smiled at how Eomer explained his choice of Arwen over Galadriel. LOL. And Lothy's own naughty thoughts made for nice reading. Ravishment indeed! Eomer and Lothy leading the cortege must have been a sight! It's times like this when I wish I could draw. The scene with Eowyn was very nicely done! How great to see behind the brave exterior of the valiant Shieldmaiden. I hope they're really friends again now.

Author's reply

Hello Whitewave, yep, the whole lot! Amrothos is probably still reeling from the shock of having his view of the world shattered so rudely. But he has passed on the baton of 'most clueless' to his aunt ;-) As for Eowyn, I think they'll become friends again. Not just for Eomer's sake, but also because Eowyn knows what it feels like to be manipulated by Grima and so would understand to some degree what made Lothiriel do what she did. Lia

Elena Tiriel · 16 January 2009 · Chapter 27: Chapter 27

Ah, so it *was* Amrothos! Um, along with a few other important personages... which made it rather........................... erm, awkward? Wow, you do know how to start a chapter, Lia! And a very satisfying one it is. At least, now Imrahil knows how his daughter feels, and how strongly. He had better see her for the intelligent young woman she is, not the former child. And Amrothos better keep his mouth firmly shut. I'm very glad to see Éowyn and Lothíriel reconciled, too. Nice chapter! - Barbara

Author's reply

Hello Barbara, I'm afraid I'm just not very kind to my characters - so of course it was the whole family ;-) And I think this was a bit of an eye-opener for Imrahil, so he might finally notice how much his daughter has grown up. As for Amrothos, we'll just have to hope for the best... *evil chuckle* Thanks for reviewing! Lia

Linda Hoyland · 11 January 2009 · Chapter 26: Chapter 26

A deliciousl chapter I loved it and even a glimpse of Aragorn! I hope Arwen will talk him into giving up the weed! What a lovely reunion for Eomer and Lothiriel!

Author's reply

I never really thought about what Arwen would make of her husband's habit, but I'm sure she can be very persuasive ;-) And I'm pleased that you liked their reunion. Thanks for reviewing. Lia

Linda Hoyland · 11 January 2009 · Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Poor Lothiriel so soon parted again from Eomer and having such nightmares.I feel helping the wounded riders will help her as much as they.Enjoyable as ever.

Author's reply

Hello Linda, she didn't have a lot of time with Eomer, did she! I'm hoping to be able to make it up to her though. And you're right that helping the wounded riders will make her feel better. Lia

Szepilona10 · 11 January 2009 · Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Who just found them? Update soon please! God Bless! ~Szepilona10~

Author's reply

Hello Szepilona, I promise you'll find out soon! Lia

Cuthalion · 10 January 2009 · Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Poor aunt - she never stood a chance against so experienced a warrior. *grins* And the kissing scene...hmmmmmmm. If this should be Amrothos, may he fall flat on his face be not too angry with the King of Rohan, devouring his sister taking a certain freedom of manners with the Princess of Dol Amroth. I have waited quite some time for this chapter, and it was well worth the patience. Thank you! Mona

Author's reply

Hello Mona, he can lay on the charm thickly, can't he ;-) And I like your description of Eomer 'taking a certain freedom of manners' with Lothiriel, very well expressed! However, I'm not quite sure if everybody will view this scene with the same detached attitude. We'll see... Also I know that this chapter was a while in coming, but real life did not treat me kindly over the holidays. Hopefully the next chapters will be quicker. Lia

Elena Tiriel · 10 January 2009 · Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Oh, what a treat! I was glad to see, in the last chapter, that Lothíriel saw a need and sought to fill it... not only helping the injured Rohirrim, but giving her something to do that shows her how much she is needed.... and that she is an adult, not the delicate child that her father and brothers insist on seeing her as. And this chapter is just delicious. Éomer knows how to play the courtly game and impress influential Gondorian matrons, doesn't he? Ivriniel doesn't stand a chance against such an accomplished campaigner -- not to mention, a honey-tongued diplomat! Impressed by Lothíriel's sewing skills, indeed.... LOL! But whoooooooopsie! How did you manage to set up a cliff-hanger in a garden? Is that Amrothos who caught them? Oh, it's got to be Amrothos! Please, please, please, please let it be Amrothos.... Looking forward to seeing where you take this next! - Barbara P.S. Happy New Year!

Author's reply

Hello Barbara, I don't set up cliffhangers, they just happen to me! And I won't give away who caught them, but I promise you'll find out soon. As for Lothiriel helping the Rohirrim, I think her family is slowly noticing how much she has changed and grown up. Although they are still clueless as to how much a certain Rider of Rohan has to do with it. And Eomer swept everything before him, but he might just have hit a snag there... Thanks for reviewing and a Happy New Year to you as well! Lia

Larner · 10 January 2009 · Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Caught! Ah, but the both of them are irrepressible! Heh! Lovely!

Author's reply

Hello Larner, irrepressible or rather foolhardy? ;-) Lia

whitewave · 9 January 2009 · Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Another enjoyable chapter, plus this one is very exciting! Your cliffhangers are priceless! Hope the intruder is someone safe like Amroth--wouldn't he be surprised! Wonder what the aunt will say when she notices that Lothy lost some of her hairpins. Eomer's naughty words (and deeds) in the garden were fun to read. I'm curious to find out how they will behave during the funeral cortege to Rohan.

Author's reply

Hello Whitewave, I'm afraid I'm just not very kind to my characters (or my readers), so no, it's not somebody 'safe' who has interrupted them. I like to have my bit of fun with them - although I assure you in real life I'm a perfectly nice person ;-) It's nice to hear you enjoyed the chapter! Lia

curiouswombat · 9 January 2009 · Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Oh lovely! I hope you had a nice Christmas, before gifting us with such a nice chapter. Éomer and Aunt Ivriniel were such fun together, and it is so nice to see that there is such understanding between Lothiriél and Éomer!!

Author's reply

Hello curiouswombat, I had fun writing that scene with dear Auntie Ivriniel, so it's nice to hear you enjoyed it. And there's most definitely an understanding between Eomer and Lothiriel ;-) I hope you had a nice Christmas, too. Lia
