Tigger · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

Oh!! It's Frodo's first adventure beyond the borders of the Shire. BTW, I wish I could have had a taste of that breakfast. I've been wanting a breakfast like that for a couple of weeks now and I can't figure out why. Anyway...The Gamgess would indeed take good care of Bilbo and even though they'd be travelling, Frodo would have to end up getting more rest and relaxation than he did at home looking after his Uncle. At least in theory. ;o) Very much looking forward to seeing where you go w/this. And let me tell you this my friend, I have been having another really, *really* bad patch w/this pain and between Larner's newest little ficlet and this, the both of you have made a horrible few days a little bit more bearable. Thank you for that!! Oh and if you're interested, I've added a couple more of my stories to my LJ. They're gradually getting up over there. :o) Really can't wait to see how this all plays out!!! :oD

Author's reply

Oh Tigger, you've been through so much. If anything I write helps to distract or delight you even a little bit, that makes me very happy. Thank you for your continued support, my friend, and I wish you better health and much joy.

*claps hands* The prospect of a wonderful mystery with rangers and elves, oh my! I'm loving this already.

Author's reply

Oh my, thank you! :)

lbilover · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

I love seeing Frodo be the one to offer the comfort, instead of needing it. The foreshadowing of Frodo's later prophetic dreams is fascinating. Your characterizations are always so spot-on. I'm looking forward very much to the next chapter!

Author's reply

Thank you so much. I'm trying hard to weave not only this entire series together as "a whole", but keep it as based in canon as an AU can be. I'm so glad you're enjoying it.

EllyBaggins · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

yay, we're going to Annúminas! can't wait to read the rest of this!

Author's reply

Thank you, Elly. I'll try to make sure we all have a fun adventure. :)

Gentle Hobbit · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

Ooooh, I enjoyed this! I love Aragorn's attention to Frodo's dreams and the hints and possibilities that he wants to explore. I'm really looking forward to what will come of this. And... Elvish singing under the stars! I know that if I were Frodo, I'd not be able to contain myself right now!

Author's reply

Elvish singing under the stars... as delicate and lovely as Gentlehobbit reading out loud! Thank you, sweet one. This story fills me with warm fuzzies. I hope Frodo enjoys his new adventure as much as I'm enjoying planning it for him. :)

Antane · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

No, time with Frodo would definitely not be a waste of time! :) And I love how solicitous he is of his beloved cousin and his joy at going on his own adventure. What joy they brought each other. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

I do believe that Frodo and Bilbo brought one another great joy, and a sense of true family. And yes, Frodo gets his own adventure with Estel at last! :)

Larner · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

I find the idea that Annuminas might have been built to mimic Numenor fascinating. And to learn Aragorn finds his dreaming to be something to base an adventure on----Well! How wonderful for our lad! Now, to find if the singing of Elves eases Frodo's stresses.

Author's reply

I'm so glad you like that idea! There's so little written about Annuminas, we can use our own imaginations to fill in the blanks. The "Atlas of Middle-earth" shows Numenor as vaguely star-shaped, and I got to wondering if Elendil might have set up his new city in the same shape. :)

Lindelea · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

Ooo ooo, adventure in the offing! Why do I get the feeling that travelling with Elves might not be quite so... er... relaxing as sitting in the Hall of Fire listening to songs? Is Annuminas really built in the shape of a star, or is that your wonderful imagining (how well it fits with the star the Rangers wear)? I did a lot of hunting for descriptions of that city when I was writing All that Glisters but never did find much. Poor Frodo, worried about Bilbo and neglecting himself... he's in need of a holiday. But how much of a holiday will this be?

Author's reply

Thank you for coming along on this new adventure, Lin! There's nothing in canon about Annuminas being star-shaped, but it's an idea that appeals to me. I agree, there's very little written about Annuminas. I'm having a wonderful time imagining it as it might have been.

harrowcat · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

ooh, Frodo's off on an adventure with Estel AND an Elf, well half elf! I'm off to pack my bag. They can't leave me behind all that easily! And singing too! Bliss.

Author's reply

How wonderful that we all get to go along on our lad's adventures. I just never tire of it. *helps you pack*

Pearl Took · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

How fun!! Frodo, Estel and Elladan off adventuring. This sounds to be a fascinating trip :-)

Author's reply

I hope to make it so, Pearl! It's fun to think up new adventures for our dear lad.

SurgicalSteel · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

I loved this. Loved Bilbo being cared for by Frodo - and that he dreams of Rivendell, and speaking in Sindarin with Elladan. Oh, and Annuminas being laid out in a star-shape, in memory of lost Numenor - that's a wonderful detail. Can't wait to see more! *giggle* And naturally Elladan's the one to ask whether Halbarad had mentioned details of the place to Frodo - Aragorn and Halbarad wouldn't be speaking to one another at the moment. Perfect.

Author's reply

Thank you! I'm having a lovely time imagining Annuminas as it once was. There's nothing in canon about it being star-shaped, but... why not? I like the whole idea. :)

Lily · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 2: An Unexpected Invitation

I sense an adventure coming. I love how Frodo cares for Bilbo.

Author's reply

Frodo senses an adventure coming, too! I love showing this relationship between Frodo and Bilbo. They are both very special hobbits.

Antane · 10 June 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

Sorry to be so late in reading this - so busy. :( Love Sam's reaction to meeting his first Elf, even taking his hand. Very nice. And Frodo and Estel's happy reunion was nice too. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane

Author's reply

I know all about being busy! I had hoped to update this story by now, but it might be a few more days. Thank you so much for commenting; I'm very pleased that you're enjoying this new adventure with Frodo and Estel. :)

illyria · 8 June 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

Heee, great beginning! I love Frodo suddenly remembering his manners and the bantering at the end of the chapter. It shows how close the Ranger and the hobbit have become since "Quarantined". On to the next chappie now!

Author's reply

Thanks, Illyria! I love writing about this happy, gentle friendship. Chapter 2 should be ready to post next week. :)

Armariel · 3 June 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

Your reviews are so lovely to behold! Thank you, and I'm glad you're already enjoying the story. Hobbits and rangers and elves (and pups)! :)

grumpy · 2 June 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

This is so great to have another story by you. And this one has Estel and Elladan in it, my favorites. Loved the different reactions Elladan got from the young hobbits.

Author's reply

Thank you, Grumpy. I'm so excited to be starting another story!

Bodkin · 2 June 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

Sam would have very well-trained dogs! And be totally thrilled with meeting an elf! I suspect Elladan will enjoy his visit to the Shire just as much as his hosts will relish his presence. Shame Bilbo's ill, though. He's not getting any younger! Whatever the outward appearances.

Author's reply

Earlier in this series ("Reflections of the Past", in which Scamp gets adopted), I thought it was too early for Sam to meet his first Elf. But the time has come at last! What fun. I'm going to enjoy 'seeing' the Shire and its folk through Elladan's eyes.

Althea · 31 May 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

It's wonderful to have a new story for it's always such a pleasure for us all when Aragorn pays a visit to Bag End. It was a delight to get to revisit Scamp and her offspring as well, and such fun to watch Sam's first encounter with an elf.

Author's reply

Thank you, Althea. It's such a pleasure me for to share these gentle adventures with all of you! I know that Aragorn greatly enjoys his visits with his 'little one'. :)

Amy · 31 May 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

Oh, my goodness, Elladan and Estel come to Bag End! *intrigued* It's great for you to welcome us into the Quarantined universe again.

Author's reply

Thank you so much, Amy. What a pleasure to be writing in this universe again. I'm so happy that folks enjoy it.

EllyBaggins · 31 May 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

yay a quarantined sequel!!! this is my favourite fanfic series! and this sounds like it's going to be really interesting, what was in that letter?! can't wait to read more!

Author's reply

Thank you so much, Elly. We'll find out about the letter in chapter 2, as soon as I write it! :)

Grean · 31 May 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

This is such a welcome treat, a continuance of your Quarantined universe. This is so delightful. Sam all agog over meeting a Real Elf. Frodo so very happy to see Estel once again. All the elements for a grand adventure seem to be in place. Thank you so very much.

Author's reply

Thank you, Grean! I do love setting these folks out on gentle adventures. I appreciate your kind words, and hope you continue to enjoy the story. :)

Fiondil · 31 May 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

Ah, another "Quarantine" story! Always a treat and such an intgriguing beginning. Now what was Elladan doing wandering alone outside Bree and where's his better half? *grin* It's a good thing it was Estel who found him. Elves are notoriously naive about the big bad world, you know. *snickers* I look forward to reading more. I just know it's going to be lots of fun and fluffy without being saccarine. *pretends to gag*

Author's reply

You can certainly be assured of fluff -- contained in what I hope is a fun and interesting story! Thank you for reading. :)

Larner · 30 May 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

Ah, how marvelous a meeting, and so appropriate to each as Sam and Frodo each greet Aragorn's foster-brother. And Elladan was sleeping up in the tree? How very wonderful. Now, to find out what the quest will entail.

Author's reply

Thank you! I'm so happy writing about Estel and Frodo sharing these early (and enjoyable) quests.

Sila Lumenn · 30 May 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

You brought Elladan to Bag End! I'm glad you decided to go ahead and post this story. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Author's reply

That is one well-visited residence! What fun. I'm glad I started posting, too. *hugs you*

Linda Hoyland · 30 May 2007 · Chapter 1: An Elven Encounter

Author's reply

Thank you, Linda. These characters keep sneaking back to tell me more about their adventures. I'm so happy to have folks to share them with. :)
