A bit of a canon risk, since there's no mention that hobbits even know the name Eru, but if any of them do, it would be Frodo.

I'm catching up at long last. I wasn't going to review all of them because I absolutely have to get some writing of my own accomplished tonight, but I was very, very touched by this one. Watching ROTK the other day, I was struck by how much I both hate and love Gollum; such a pitiable creature. If only he could have been saved and come to know that light himself. God bless, Galadriel

It always gives me goosebumps...though I still prefer the book version, where Frodo brings the crown to Gandalf.

Oh, how very RIGHT, Rowan. He wants what usually hurts him, wants that Light he sees but that was lost in him, wants that love he turned from when the Ring took him so long ago. Oh, yes, this is Gollum's dilemma indeed.

Gollum is a fascinating character, isn't he? Not comfortable to write about, but interesting.

So Gollum sees Frodo's light also and wants to be near it - very interesting. And that he realizes when he's stroking their joint Precious that he's not altogether there. These two are kindred spirits in a way, or at least kindred sufferers. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

That was my intent. I've always thought part of Gollum wanted to be saved as much as Frodo wanted to save him -- at least at first, before the evil side started getting stronger again.

A nice reversal of Frodo's first impression of Glorfindel, when he was half in the wraith world and saw him as he appears "on the Other Side," as a blazing light among the shadowy mortals.
