RS · 17 May 2007 · Chapter 48: Brothers - Aragorn and Halbarad

How awesome it must have been for Aragorn to see his loving brothers, protectors, and playmates transform into these "deadly warriors". What a lovely story.

Author's reply

It must have been odd for him the first time he saw them in battle, I agree. Thanks.

daw the minstrel · 17 May 2007 · Chapter 48: Brothers - Aragorn and Halbarad

Misty-- I liked seeing Aragorn's thoughts on his childhood, and I appreciated the way you embedded them in dialogue with Halbarad. The arrival of the twins was an exciting moment. I loved the idea of them as intimidating on patrol but just Aragorn's brothers at home.

Author's reply

Thanks. I also love the idea of the twins just being Aragorn's brothers while they're in Imladris, and being the warriors on patrol.

shirebound · 17 May 2007 · Chapter 48: Brothers - Aragorn and Halbarad

Along with teaching me the skills I would need as a ranger, they taught me to enjoy my life and treasure my family. This is lovely. It's wonderful to see Aragorn so loved by *both* of his families, and to see those families meet at last.

Author's reply

Yes, I did enjoy writing the moment when Aragorn's two families met and just love the thought of Halbarad sitting there listening to tales of Aragorn's childhood.

Larner · 17 May 2007 · Chapter 48: Brothers - Aragorn and Halbarad

Now twenty-one, Aragorn has two families, two lives that he is successfully blending into one. Warm look at his coming to terms with his new situation.

Author's reply

Yes, Aragorn had been through a lot of changes in the year after he turned 20. I wanted to give him a chance to share his past with those he befriended after joining the Dunedain. I'm glad you enjoyed this.

Idril Celebrindal · 17 May 2007 · Chapter 48: Brothers - Aragorn and Halbarad

Very entertaining! Great birthday celebration. Idril

Author's reply

Thanks. I thought it would be a good surprise for Aragorn.

Radbooks · 4 April 2007 · Chapter 47: The Hunt - Aragorn, Glorfindel and the twins

Oh, this was really good, Misty! I hope that Aragorn is a long ways away when the twins get home or he's going to regret it. :) It might be harder for them to get Glorfindel since he's so much older, but then they are pretty devious. :)

Author's reply

Yes, if Aragorn is still around when the twins return, he might wish to be elsewhere. lol I'm sure they'll also try to include Glorfindel in any revenge they might come up with. I just wish I had something in mind for that revenge. I don't have the faintest idea in mind. That may be an exercise for the reader. ;-)

Selene Aduial · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 47: The Hunt - Aragorn, Glorfindel and the twins

*snicker* The twins were tricked good, but I would love to see the revenge trick they pulled on Estel and Glorfindel.

Author's reply

So would I. ;-) I just wish I had a good idea for that retaliation.

Selene Aduial · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 46: Out of a clear blue sky - Aragorn and Elrohir

*snort* I just love the teasing between the brothers. It's so good to see them relaxing.

Author's reply

Thanks. I think they deserved a few quiet times just to enjoy being with each other and not worrying about the fate of all Arda. :)

Bodkin · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 47: The Hunt - Aragorn, Glorfindel and the twins

I hope Aragorn and Glorfindel are prepared for the response ... which will not be pleasant - and may well be long delayed. Good game, though. As long as all accept the rules.

Author's reply

Yes, Aragorn and Glorfindel knew what they would be unleashing, at least to some extent. They well understand that they have just opened themselves up to revenge on a grand scale. :)

Larner · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 13: Just in Time - Aragorn and ???

Precisely when he means to, eh? I'm with Aragorn here--Gandalf could easily have arrived just a bit earlier and seen to it less stress was experienced to begin with. Heh!

Author's reply

Oh, I think Gandalf was just running a little late and didn't want to admit it. ;-)

harrowcat · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 47: The Hunt - Aragorn, Glorfindel and the twins

The end? Oooooooohhhh! *pouts and turns Pippin's pleading eyes in your direction* How about a compromise - just a leeetle revenge scene?

Author's reply

Well, if I ever come up with a good idea for a response, I may go ahead and write it, but until then... I won't make any promises. I'm gratified that you are enjoying these prompts. :)

Larner · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 12: More Time - Arwen and Aragorn

Ah, but there WILL be more time--a most proper time, only not in this world. She has yet to learn the full benefits of mortality.

Author's reply

True, but even after living among them as long as she did, I don't think she understood that they would be joined again.

Larner · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 11: Every Hair - Elrond and Estel

To feel he belongs where he is would become somewhat difficult as Aragorn aged and became increasinly aware of just how different he was from those surrounding him. Glad Elrond is trying to give the young one a sense of belonging and ties to the mortal world to which he truly belonged.

Author's reply

Elrond knew how important it was that Estel feel safe and loved in his family, but also that he know at least something about the world he would join one day; the world of men. And I love writing heart-warming family moments, so this was fun for me. :)

Larner · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 9: Choices - Arwen and Aragorn

An infant love so far, but one to contemplate and nurture and bring to fulfillment.

Author's reply

Yes, they would have time to let their feelings mature, without rushing into anything.

Larner · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 8: Decision - Frodo

One of the most decisive of movie moments here. To make that decision must have been terrible.

Author's reply

I'm sure that was the hardest decision that Frodo had ever made in his life. It could not have been easy to choose to set off on his own and leave the aid and comfort of the others. But for their sake, he knew he could not stay.

Larner · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 2: When it Rains... - Aragorn

Some days are simply miserable all the way through, as this one is for Aragorn.

Author's reply

Yes, poor Aragorn. I'm sure we've all had days like that.

Larner · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 25: Alone - Smeagol

To see the Ring so consuming Smeagol as he is transformed into Gollum is horrible. Not his friend, and solely because he wouldn't give Smeagol what he'd found in the depths of the river. And so, Deagol became gone, gone, gone. Tragic.

Author's reply

Yes, Smeagol was truly one of the most tragic characters in all of the LOTR trilogy. The ring had a firm hold on him from the moment he laid eyes on it, and he never had the power to fight off its corrupting influence.

Larner · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 27: Duty and Life - Faramir

Wonderful nods to both book and movie-verse here. And I can fully appreciate Faramir's sentiments.

Author's reply

Thank you. I was quite glad that Faramir had a 'happy ending'. His life with Eoywn after the war was a true and just reward for all his sacrifices for his people.

Larner · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 28: A Single Step - Aragorn

And Thorongil is born out of those steps alone as Aragorn goes forth to face his destiny.

Author's reply

Yes, Aragorn knew what he needed to do, no matter how frightening the idea may have been.

Larner · 3 April 2007 · Chapter 47: The Hunt - Aragorn, Glorfindel and the twins

Ooh, ornery, are we? Perhaps one of us will have to figure out a fitting response to this provocation. Now, that was quite a prank to pull on the twins, I must say.

Author's reply

Hey, I'd love to see someone write the twins' response. :) I just don't have any ideas at the moment. But I'm glad you enjoyed this prank. I quite enjoyed formulating it. ;-)

shirebound · 2 April 2007 · Chapter 47: The Hunt - Aragorn, Glorfindel and the twins

This is adorable. The lives of the residents of Rivendell would be so much more dull if they didn't let mortals into their lives... and hearts.

Author's reply

Yes they would, wouldn't they? I've had fun writing the last few chapters, though pranks don't come easily to me. I'm glad you're enjoying this. :)

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 46: Out of a clear blue sky - Aragorn and Elrohir

To relax with brothers--and LOVED the frog!

Author's reply

Glad you liked it. :)

Alison H · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 46: Out of a clear blue sky - Aragorn and Elrohir

Ha, that was so funny. It reminded me of that episode of 'The X-Files.I can hear Scully now "Mulder, there are frogs falling out of the sky"! Aragorn will definitely have to get his own back!

Author's reply

Hmm, I don't know that I remember all of that episode. There actually were frogs falling from the sky, weren't there? I forgot about that one. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I'm sure Aragorn will eventually get them back. :)

Idril Celebrindal · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 46: Out of a clear blue sky - Aragorn and Elrohir

Misty, I did indeed get a laugh out of it, but I had to hold back since I am at work. :-) At least a smile was allowed. Idril

Author's reply

Maybe you can read it again at home and give in to the laughter. ;-) I'm glad you enjoyed it.

harrowcat · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 46: Out of a clear blue sky - Aragorn and Elrohir

Indeed, a grin before work is worth signing on for. Thanks

Author's reply

You're quite welcome. I'm glad I could make you smile. :)
