harrowcat · 13 April 2008 · Chapter 15: Twins, Chapter 7

You posted this so quickly that I hadn't got around to reviewing the last chapter. Loved the interaction with Glorfindel the most and the reflection on Earendil and Elrond. And I hope this lovely conversation isn't going to come between the twins.

Author's reply

Well, I actually had written the last two chapters as one and then broke it into two shorter chapters. The next one won't be out so quickly as I haven't even started it yet. I did enjoy writing the scenes with Glorfindel, and the conversation about Earendil and Elrond kind of wrote itself once I started. As to whether this will come between the twins in any way... we'll just have to wait and see.

Nettles · 5 April 2008 · Chapter 14: Twins, Chapter 6

Wonderful update can't wait for the next one

Author's reply

I'm glad you're enjoying this. I just posted the next chapter. Quick enough? ;) The next one won't be out so quickly, sorry.

Nieriel Raina · 10 February 2008 · Chapter 13: Aragorn, Chapter 8

Oh, I like how you've listed the chapters here keeping track of which is who! great idea! And a great story so far! I'm caught up and looking forward to more! I am very interested to see how this all comes to completion and finding out just WHO sent them back to begin with and why!

Author's reply

Yes, I decided it would really help people keep track of things better. I should rename the chapters on ff.net to match. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I do at least have most of the rest of the story planned out, while playing with a few details along the way. :) It will all be told...eventually. *eg*

SeekHim · 2 February 2008 · Chapter 13: Aragorn, Chapter 8

I like this chapter a lot. It was a great treat to see Bilbo and Thorin and Company again. The television show The Hobbit was one of my favorites when I was little and this chapter reminded me of it. I hope you'll let Fili and Kili live.

Author's reply

I'm glad you liked it. I knew I would have to cover the events of the Hobbit, but without Aragorn/Eradan changing anything enough to interfere with Bilbo finding the Ring. That was a careful line to walk, both as a writer and for the characters. As for Fili and Kili, I haven't decided yet. I'll probably mention their fate in the next chapter dealing with Aragorn's storyline. (As long as it fits in with the rest of the chapter.)

grumpy · 22 January 2008 · Chapter 13: Aragorn, Chapter 8

Ha, I knew that Elrond would figure it out sooner or later. It is good that Aragorn did not go with taking the ring to mordor himself. Very tough knowing what is going to happen, and not changing things.

Author's reply

Yes, I figure Elrond had been watching him for awhile, and just decided the time was right to confront him about all the odd things he had noticed. It wasn't until he knew that Elrohir and Gandalf knew the secret that he thought he could trust Eradan even if he didn't know the secret himself. And no matter how much Aragorn wanted to destroy the Ring and spare people he loved, he finally decided that it would be far too risky. His life in this time is a very difficult one, indeed.

Envinyatar · 20 January 2008 · Chapter 13: Aragorn, Chapter 8

This just gets better and better. The foresight that convinced Aragorn to let events unfold as in the original was frighteningly convincing and very well done, as were the further revelations to Elrohir. Your handling of this very complex scenario is riveting. Can't wait for more - and beginning to get very curious about Arwen's arrival!

Author's reply

Thanks. The foresight/nightmare had to be extreme enough to convince Aragorn not to attempt to destroy the Ring himself. I'm glad it came off well. And the further revelations to Elrohir were largely Elrohir's idea. lol I didn't plan to write it that way, it was one of those scenes that just wrote itself. As for Arwen... well, I do have plans for that storyline. *eg*

grumpy · 26 November 2007 · Chapter 12: Aragorn, Chapter 7

See it is a good thing that Aragorn and Elrohir have talked things over, now Aragorn has someone to talk too, just as long as he does not give away anything that might happen. (my period seems to be sticking to the button below it on my keyboard, hmmmmmmmm) Love the hunt for a new name for Aragorn the little!

Author's reply

Yes, I think it is a good thing for Aragorn to have Elrohir know who he is. He really did need someone closer to him to share his secrets with. Now he only has to watch how much he says around him. ;) And I did have fun writing the name hunting scene. lol No one seemed to think Estel was a proper name for Aragorn this time around. *g*

Fiondil · 30 October 2007 · Chapter 12: Aragorn, Chapter 7

Well worth the wait, Misty. Glad to see that Aragorn finally has someone to share his burdens when Gandalf isn't there. He really needed to have someone and Elrohir is the perfect person for the role of confidant. Also happy to see the Twins beginning to think of Eradan as a brother and now Elrohir knows him as one in truth. Can't wait to see how this all plays out and whether the purpose behind it is benign or sinister.

Author's reply

Thanks. Yes, Elrohir insisted on being the next to find out about Eradan's secrets. I couldn't think of a more perfect confidante and friend, so I went along with his idea. :) Aragorn really did need the support of his brothers, and I did enjoy writing the scenes between them.

harrowcat · 29 October 2007 · Chapter 12: Aragorn, Chapter 7

I am glad that the two of them have clarified things just a little. This is a wonderfully complicated tale Misty. Avidly looking forward to more.

Author's reply

LOL Yes, complicated is a good word for it. I sometimes feel like I'm stumbling around in the dark on this story, trying to figure out how each and every change will trickle down into the course of history. But I'm glad you're enjoying it. I do know what is happening at the end of the story, but am still working out some of the middle sections. I do think Elrohir will be a good ally for Eradan in this, and the elf just insisted on finding out the secret.

harrowcat · 29 October 2007 · Chapter 11: Aragorn, Chapter 6

I am sorry that I have missed reviwing this chapter Misty but I am having computer problems! The plot is thickening by the minute. A new sister for Aragorn and another person drawn into the truth of the situation. Looking forward to reading the next chapter but got to dash to work now!

Author's reply

I always say better late than never. Thanks for the review, and sorry for your computer issues. Yes, there have been many changes for Eradan/Aragorn in this chapter.

GloriRose · 21 September 2007 · Chapter 11: Aragorn, Chapter 6

As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for...The only thing that would have made this story even more fascinating for me, would have been if Aragorn/Eradan had shown up to save his father in the twins' already altered universe. After reading all 11 chapters today, I am enjoying this story immensely and look forward to more.

Author's reply

Well... I can't say too much, but let's just say that the two timelines are rather mutually exclusive. I couldn't see how to put them in the same altered universe. That will only become clear later, though. I'm glad you're enjoying it, and I do hope to have another chapter out soon for your reading pleasure.

Mysterious Jedi · 10 September 2007 · Chapter 11: Aragorn, Chapter 6

Good story. I look forward to more.

Author's reply

Thanks. I'm working on it and hope to have another chapter out soon.

Grumpy · 29 July 2007 · Chapter 11: Aragorn, Chapter 6

Sorry that this is late. But I love the chapter. Love how happy Aragorn was to have a little sister, and glad that Gilraen thought better of the twins and her childred. Poor Aragorn(Eradan) to be stuck for so long, wounded and missing his wife and son. So Elrohir overhear it all. Can not wait to see what happens next.

Author's reply

No worries. Better late than never. :) I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter so much. I had to have Gilraen thaw out toward the twins, because I couldn't stand to see little Aragorn growing up without them as brothers. But yes, I did feel very sorry for Eradan as I wrote this chapter. I'm hoping for Eradan/Aragorn's sake that having Elrohir find out about his secret will be a good thing.

Envinyatar · 7 July 2007 · Chapter 11: Aragorn, Chapter 6

Sorry I haven't reviewed for a while. This story continues to fascinate me with the characters' reactions to changing events and the complexity of the plot. Intriguing to find out what Elrohir's response to his discovery will be. Call me stupid, but I hadn't considered the fact that all this takes place before the discovery of the one ring and before Sauron's return to Mordor. So many possibilities there...does Aragorn have the imagination to consider destroying the ring at this point, or must the story unfold as it did in the original? I'm impatient to see what you've got in store, but the quality of your writing deserves patience.

Author's reply

Thanks. I knew this story would by necessity be a bit complex when I started it, but I've been doing a lot of research on this as I write, trying to keep things as canon as I can. I want the only changes made to be due to the actions of my characters. :) And yes, Aragorn considers many elements concerning the ring. What he chooses to do or not do is covered in the next chapter. ;-) It's currently being written. I also see a lot of possibilities there, we'll just have to see what Aragorn chooses to do. Thanks for your patience and your reviews.

Fiondil · 2 July 2007 · Chapter 11: Aragorn, Chapter 6

Sorry I haven't left a review of this story before, but I'm quite enjoying it and always look forward to an update. The way the twins and Aragorn are adapting (or trying to adapt) to their situations has been quite fascinating to watch and you have to give them credit even as your heart bleeds for them. This last chapter was especially poignant with Aragorn's talk with Gandalf. So many secrets between them, it has to be difficult for them both. I think for Aragorn it's the not-knowing that is the worst. If he knew for sure that he would never return to his own time, he would be able to grieve for what he will have lost and then gone forward, but he can't do that under the circumstances because he doesn't know if he even should. And now Elrohir knows the truth. It will be interesting to see how he deals with it and whom he tells. I only hope that Aragorn and the twins (and we) eventually learn who the son of a ***** is who's behind all this and what his real motives were for sending them back into the past. I doubt it's entirely benign. I look forward to the next chapter and hope you can update more frequently.

Author's reply

Thanks. I always love to welcome a new reviewer. Exploring how the characters react to the situations they find themselves in is one of the things I love about writing this story. I do think that the secrets held on both sides come between Aragorn and Mithrandir a bit, even with the strength of their friendship. And you're right. Not knowing his fate and future is the worst part for Aragorn. As for Elrohir, you'll see more of him and his decisions next chapter. I'm about in the middle of that chapter now. But the characters, and the readers, will have to wait some time before finding out who has sent them back and why. The answer will be given, but not anytime soon. Thanks again for the review.

Nikara · 28 March 2007 · Chapter 10: Aragorn, Chapter 5

Wow. This is an incredible concept for a story. It is fascinating to see the way that small acts can change history. Poor Aragorn, he is far more alone than the twins right now. He'll have quite a few issues to work through. I must say, I hope that they eventually do get to go back. It's sad to see Aragorn, with all of the memories of his past life, having to go through experiences that remind him of his losses. Keep up the great work!

Author's reply

Thank you. I'm glad you're enjoying the story. I've taken a great deal of care and thought in planning out each chapter. And yes, Aragorn does have a lot on his plate right now. He's trying to ensure that history happens as it should, but things keep changing on him. And he's more an outsider in this version of his life, though he is carving a place for himself with his loved ones.

Aelinmir · 19 March 2007 · Chapter 10: Aragorn, Chapter 5

have you taken into account the time frame of the hobbit as well? i beleive aragorn or estel was 5 years old when gandalph led bilbo and the dwarves through imladris. keep the updates coming.

Author's reply

Yes, I am taking the Hobbit into account. Estel was 10 when the dwarves and Bilbo came through. I will be re-reading bits of the book to make sure that I keep things consistent. I'll update as soon as I can read the necessary parts and get the chapter written. Thanks.

harrowcat · 19 March 2007 · Chapter 10: Aragorn, Chapter 5

A new baby, a new hope. Not all changes need to be for the worse. Great stuff Misty.

Author's reply

Yes, not all of the changes that are happening are bad. :) They're all falling for Lothrin the moment they lay eyes on her, I think. Even Aragorn/Eradan had to admit that perhaps this was meant to be from the beginning.

vampfan30 · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 10: Aragorn, Chapter 5

wow, just as i think that this couldn't better ( or, more confusing) it does... beautiful, as usual, though, a little distressed that the next chapter is not twin-centric... i will wait for it, though!

Author's reply

LOL You're not the first to comment about being confused. Don't worry, I will get back to the twins, but I want to continue little Aragorn's childhood in the next chapter. Thanks for the review.

Calenlass Greenleaf · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 10: Aragorn, Chapter 5

Wow. History has been vastly changed. Arathorn and Gilraen have a daughter? *eyes widen* Such a wonderful AU--I can't get enough of such fics, Misty! ~Cal

Author's reply

Yes, history is changing drastically. Aragorn is getting quite concerned about those changes, but fell for Lothrin the moment he saw her. :) I'm glad you're enjoying this so much. Thanks.

harrowcat · 31 January 2007 · Chapter 9: Twins, Chapter 5

You really are keeping my avid interest with this story Misty. Loved the examination of relationships here. You show the mourning of the past and the beginning to celebrate the present beautifully. And I live the kitten story!

Author's reply

Thanks. This chapter allowed me to get the twins to a point where they are ready to go on with their new lives, and to have those in their lives learn whatever they needed to know about them. The twins really needed to get more comfortable with Glorfindel and try to keep their father from prying too deeply into their visions. And I had to put in the kitten story, that poor little thing managed to get the best of both twins and Glorfindel! It was too cute not to write. :) Thanks again.

Calenlass Greenleaf · 27 January 2007 · Chapter 9: Twins, Chapter 5

Great chapter, Misty. Especially the part about Haldir getting his face painted. LOL.

Author's reply

Thanks. I had fun writing that part. lol Poor Haldir. Next time he'll be more careful in what he asks for. :)

Anne Rose · 29 December 2006 · Chapter 0: Prologue

So, I just read your fic, and I must say I'm terribly depressed, angsty, and have a strong urge to beat you with a large stick. *sigh* What a mess they're all in now. And no real way to go forwards or backwards. I've never seen a time travel/second chance plot handled this way before. And I've read a ton of fic. The story always leaves the traveller behind and goes on to look at other things, as if they were doing just great in the past and didn't matter anymore. Or the traveller poofs out of existance or back to their own time as soon as the situation is changed in the past. What on earth is Aragorn going to do when he meets Arwen? And we can't have 3 different timelines coexisting, can we? I would hope these would merge in some pleasant way before anything too horrific happens. Or maybe they won't and at least the 3 stranded brothers all know where the ring is and could destroy it before Sauron figures out what's up. Unless he's behind all this. And that brings us back to the very large stick. I do hope this will be updated soon. - Anne Rose

Envinyatar · 18 November 2006 · Chapter 8: Aragorn, Chapter 4

I'm absolutely fascinated by what you've created here, and can't begin to imagine how you're going to resolve it, but I'm looking forward to the ride. Especially liked the portrayal of Aragorn and Gandalf in this chapter, very much in character. Sorry I haven't reviewed before.

Author's reply

Thank you. I do have the resolution in mind, but it won't happen for quite some time. I have a lot of things I want to do before that happens. I'm glad you like the way I'm writing my characters. I do try to keep them 'true to life', so to speak. :) And I'll take any reviews I can get. I just love knowing more people are appreciating my stories.
