Queen Galadriel · 24 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Yea! Another story in the "Quarantined" universe! And Scamp's going to be a mother! :) How lovely! "...And yet, they have made an intriguing offer – if granted permission to mine those hills, should the race of Men ever once again come into our own they vow to help rebuild the ancient city of Annúminas, which lies now in ruins. It is much to hope for, but perhaps such a promise might be of benefit... someday." Ah, I like how you worked this in. I always did think that Gimli spoke of his folk helping in the rebuilding as if it were a matter that had been pre-arranged or something, so this makes perfect sense. Halbarad is so wonderful--I can't bear to think of his death in TTT. Can't wait for the next chapter! God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

I refuse to think about Halbarad's death, so I've given him a hobbity AU to live in! What fun to be back in this 'universe' again. Puppies! :D

Elanor Silmariën · 24 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Eeee! Puppies!!! *jumps up and down happily* I love puppies! Good beginning, can't wait for the rest! God bless, Ellie

Author's reply

Thanks, Ellie! Puppies make me jump up and down happily, too. :D

demeter d · 24 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Yah! More "Quarantined". I, also, may have to do some re-reading. I will definitely follow this new one. Oh, and if you ever run out of ideas (which I know is not likely,) At the end of the story when you let Aragorn learn that Gandalf wiped his memory to make it easier for him to let Frodo go, Gandalf tells him that he has the power to restore those memories. I would like to see the details of that process, as each one oththe Hobbits gets back what was covered. I think that could be interesting. Good Luck with this new one.

Author's reply

Thank you, demeter; we never know where our next ideas will come from! :D

Armariel · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Ohhh a new one--with Aragorn! yayay!! I think I need to read "Quarantined" again--I read it I think about 2 years ago and thought it adorable, but all I can really remember about it is getting the doggie....(pssstttt---I want one of the pups!) Dang, Bilbo is pretty sharp, isn't he? \\*// ///|\\\ | \|/ | | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Author's reply

Pretty! :D Yes, Bilbo is *very* sharp, and his wisdom will be needed in this story. (I'd love it if anyone re-read "Quarantined", but if you're looking for the puppy-adoption story, it's "Reflections of the Past".) And I want one of the pups, too! Luckily we can all share these virtual pups amongst us.

Dreamflower · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Whoopee!! More "Quarantined"-verse! This is going to be so fun--puppies and hobbits and intrigue and h/c... I know why Halbarad was picked to go along. *grin* And a possible explosion--ooh, I'm so curious! And I can't wait to see Scamp's little half-Took puppies!! Fluffy puppies!! I have to admit to being just a wee bit taken aback at your title when it popped up on my alert--it's the same title as my first two fics, so it confused me at first!

Author's reply

Fluffy puppies! I knew I could sneak more puppies into this series somehow. I can't wait to see the wee Scamplings! I remember your story, and am sorry about the duplicate title. But it's the best title for this story, in more ways than are evident from chapter 1. (I felt the same way you did when I saw Baggins Babe's "Reunion in Minas Tirith" appear -- a story I adore. It's so odd to see duplicate titles come around!)

Tigger · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Oh YAY!! Another visit to the Quarantined universe!! I've been wondering when we'd be back for another visit and Halbarad's back too!! Looks interesting and looking forward to it all!!

Author's reply

Thanks, Tigger! I'm all excited, too. Just when I think I'll never think of another "Q" storyline, I get a small niggling of an idea... :D

aprilkat · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

A return to this wonderful universe of yours, where little Frodo is a friend of Aragorn, Scamp reigns supreme, and young Halbarad is learning to become a warrior. Bilbo's warm presence is such a comfort. I'm intrigued by the rather political mission, but I think I care more about Scamp's puppies! I'm eager to see this continue.

Author's reply

Awww, I love your summary! Thank you. Yes, all these sub-plots about Dwarves and explosions and Rangers... Scamp's puppies are all that really matter!

Antane · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

“After all, he’s about to become an uncle!” Cute! I'm glad to be back in the Quarantined universe. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

I'm glad to be back, too! I always miss this storyline when I'm not living in it. :D

Ainu Laire · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Ahh! I found a moment to read a little bit of fan fiction in the library, and as I still have 5 minutes, I shall leave a review! The 'Quarentined' series continues! I absolutely love that; it's so great. It started what, three years ago? It is definitely the best; I imagine Aragorn and Frodo (and all the rest) would have gotten along so well. 'twould have made the meeting in Bree less stressful, too :P I do believe you wrote an AU meeting in Bree a couple years back... must reread. Ah, I loved this! Good ol' diplomatic relations... and puppies! I love puppies. I have two puppies :) Oh my!! What a coincidence; my next ficlet is about Aragorn's magic in his healing and touch! I wrote it about five days ago, I think. I'll post it up today. Anyways, 2 minutes... I do believe that this is where Frodo will discover Estel's lineage, hmm? I can imagine something happening like that, certainly. I do wonder how the diplomatic relations with the Dwarves will go... I've always liked Dwarves. It should be much fun ^^ And Halbarad! I LOVE Halbarad! He should get a puppy ^^ Or Estel should. Bring it to Rivendell and give it to Arwen... AWW! So cute! Anyways, 'tis 3pm. Must be off now. I will be actually catching up on reading all your stories that I have fallen behind in reading come summer; 17 more school days! 'tis soon! Talk with you later- and thank you for all of your reviews! Muchas gracias :) Suvi

Author's reply

I'm really enjoying your Aragorn snippets, Suvi! And I appreciate your enthusiasm for this "Quarantined" series. It's such fun, and so enjoyable to write. Enjoy your summer, and your puppies, and keep writing!

lbilover · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Aw, Scamp is pregnant :) Once again, you pull me right into your world. I'm very anxious to read more (and see Scamp's pups, of course!!)

Author's reply

Thanks, Lbilover! I'm anxious to meet Scamp's pups, myself!

Larner · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Ah, how very appropriate. Am looking forward to reading this in full, Shirebound.

Author's reply

Glad to have you along, Larner! I'm happy to return to this 'universe'.

Endaewen · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Great start. More soon please.

Author's reply

Thanks, Endaewen!

Andrea · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

“Took?” Halbarad asked. “Pippin is a Took,” Frodo reminded him. Halbarad grinned, remembering the lively lad. LOL! That's great. To explain what a Took is you only have to say "Pippin" and everyone (who has met Pippin before) understands ;-) I like the Quarantined Universe very much and can't wait to see all those puppies exploring Bag End. That'll be funny. But an explosion, you say? Oh my!

Author's reply

I'm looking forward to the puppies' arrival, as well! But first we do need to get that pesky explosion out of the way...

harrowcat · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Oooooh another Q story! How wonderful. I think that my parents already have a tookish puppy but he is big, black and likes to jump fences! He certainly needs as much looking after and entertaining as Pippin. (They do live in a midlands shire.)

Author's reply

Thank you for your enthusiasm! Yes, I love the idea of a half-Baggins half-Took litter of pups. :D

Lindelea · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Puppies! Hooray! Ah, Halbarad. *sigh* Lovely weaving of possibilities. Yes, I can see the Dwarves offering to help rebuild Annuminas... and shrewd creatures as they are, more than half-expecting never to have to fulfil their part of the bargain. Though if the King did return to the Northlands, they'd still "win", for that would mean that the dark things had been cast down and a brighter future had arrived. Two days' ride from Hobbiton to Evendim? That seems a little short to me, unless they are going direct cross-country, and they would still have to cross the Brandywine at some point (at least I think they would, not having a map in front of me). I estimated a travelling party on horseback/ponies (my "equine consultant" tells me that ponies travel at about the same speed as horses, isn't that interesting?) would need a good week to go from the Bridge to Annuminas, while researching for a story, measuring distances and finding out speed of travel, but I suppose Rangers on fast horses could go faster, if they pushed the horses...

Author's reply

Puppies! And I agree with you about the Dwarves -- it's probably a win-win situation for them. I don't have my "Atlas of Middle-earth" handy at the moment, but as I recall, Bag End to Lake Evendim is about 75 miles (at most). I would think that horses could easily make that distance in two days. I don't believe that the Brandywine (or any other river) needs to be crossed, riding north through the Shire; the Brandywine is south of Hobbiton, not north.

esamen · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Hello, wonderful Shirebound! It's been a while since I R & R'd at SoA, but I just had to respond to your wonderful Quarantined sequel. I love to visit your particular corner of the fanfic universe. So colorful, dramatic, suspenseful and loving! And always so beautifully written! I hope we'll have many chapters of danger and tender h/c. I still love a woozy Frodo, after all these years. I'll be waiting eagerly for each new chapter! Let it rip, girlfriend! Well, I have not been writing fan fiction because I have been writing an original novel. It should be out in about six weeks. I go started by writing fan fiction and, since you are one of my most inspiring authors, can I send you a copy, just out of gratitude? It's an easy read, and between us, I included a certain blue-eyed, dark-haired sixteen-year-old boy with a devoted, slightly gray-haired father. They aren't the central characters, but I enjoyed working them into the story line. I just smiled with joy as I read these lines: "Ah, but there’s a bit of magic to Estel, my lad,” Bilbo said from where he sat nearby on the big, overstuffed chair. He recalled how the Ranger’s very touch had calmed Frodo while the lad was in the midst of that strange tree-sickness. And four years before, he had knelt by the fevered lad’s bed and somehow guided him back to consciousness. There was magic to him, indeed... and was much more than he appeared." Love that Q-land story line. Happy typing always, and update soon! esamen

Author's reply

Thank you so much, Esamen. You're always so enthusiastic about this "Quarantined" universe. And now... woozyFrodo *and* woozyAragorn. Fun! I'd be honored to read your novel, and congratuations! Feel free to e-mail me with details at shirebound1@gmail.com

Mysterious Jedi · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Yay! Another Quarantined sequel!

Author's reply

I'm excited, too!

SlightlyTookish · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Squeeee, a new story! And puppies!! “Ah, that rascal. If these pups are half Took, they will be a handful.” Eeee, I loved that line... :)

Author's reply

Those Tooks always find their way into these stories somehow, don't they? *grins* I think this will be fun.

cpsings4him · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Delightful, delightful, delightful! Loving this so far. Can't wait to get to the h/c parts. *rubs hands together gleefully* Ah, that rascal. If these pups are half Took, they will be a handful.” “You’re half Took.” “That’s right,” Bilbo chuckled. LOL!! Eee...can you imagine Tookish pups?? O.O Your storytelling dialog is wonderful as usual. Thank you for this. I look forward to the next chapter. :)

Author's reply

There is definitely be h/ccccc on the way, CP! And I want half-Baggins half-Tookish pups! *wants*

Gayalondiel · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Ooh... Puppies! Half-Took puppies, what's more! And do I sense impending h/c for Aragorn? *hopes* Mmm... you have to write quickly, ok, especially since you promised me a glimpse of starlight this fic... (it is this fic, right?)

Author's reply

I can't deny that h/cccc is definitely on its way! And yes, a certain star-wielding mariner will definitely make a brief appearance... but you'll have to be patient!

Amy · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Dwarves, and an explosion, hooray! Teeny Scamp pups, and Frodo hands-on with her pregnancy! Much to squee about here! *rubs hands gleefully*

Author's reply

Thank you for the squeees! I can't wait to dive in and get more of this written. :D

Pearl Took · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

Good! More shirebound fluff and puppies :) And Dwarves, and old sayings and old places. Off to an interesting start :)

Author's reply

Thanks, Pearl! Yes, fluffy pups just keep sneaking in... somehow...

illyria · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

A-hah! So this is the story that made you asked the question about possible causes of explosion in the Shire. Very promising beginning! I especially like the part when Bilbo and Aragorn talked and the hint of potential political alliance in the subject. Impressive. And Aragorn turned out to be more than just a healer, is he? He seems to have the gift for veterinary practice, too. :) And I also like the part where Frodo, Bilbo and Halbarad talked about Tooks and the possibility that Frodo is about to uncle Took-puppies. :)

Author's reply

Yes, I really needed input about explosions (as you'll soon see)... poor hobbitses and Rangers! But all will be well in the end. Yes, the hands of the King are the hands of a vet! Who knew? *grins*

Cuthalion · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

“Ah, that rascal. If these pups are half Took, they will be a handful.” “You’re half Took.” *giggles* This is like returning home to friends, a warm, delicious meal and roaring flames in the fireplace. The plot is intrigueing, the characters wonderfully famiiar and the pet as cute as ever. *smiles* This brightens my day - and I discover my heart for Halbarad more and more. Thank you - wonderful as always (and is there a better thing than to expect the best from an author - as always - and to get it?) *huggles*

Author's reply

Awwwww. You are so sweet, and just make me glow with happiness. *big fat hugs* Eeeee, puppies coming!

rabidsamfan · 23 May 2006 · Chapter 1: Welcome Guests

A lovely gentle beginning... I can see all sorts of complications arising once you start the action though! Puppies! Dwarves! Gamgees! Poor Aragorn, I almost feel sorry for him remembering how many ways we came up with for him to get damaged...

Author's reply

Things are about to happen, I must admit! Yes, poor Aragorn. But he keeps coming back for more, so I think he must enjoy the attention and love.
