· Chapter 11: Revelations and Complications
I have to say, now that I have read the comments, I want to know even more what happens. Why does Elrohir take Elfwine to a tavern? Why not go to the Houses? If Elrohir hadn’t taken the king of Rohan’s son to a tavern they would have been happy to help heal Éomer. (esp. if they need to something to get back in his good graces after he suspects them of the horse incident).
When does Aragorn come back, how does he get the last laugh? Where are Faramir and Imrahil, and will they do something to stop Legolas and or rescue Gimli? Will they sort out things with the guards?
Please, please write!

Meaning I shall have either the young and angry crown-prince of Rohan or the younger and angrier crown-prince of Gondor. It did not take Elrohir long to decide which he wanted, and moving too quickly for protests, he shoved his flailing, kicking nephew into his Elladan's surprised arms. "Enjoy. I shall return in time."
Hehe.
And Legolas’s plan. oh dear. You just keep adding more and more problems.

· Chapter 6: Division Within the Ranks
Curse you, Legolas. You have been taking lessons from Narsigil again, Elrohir growled silently, thinking of Legolas’s older brother who possessed a remarkable gift for turning conversations and challenges back on themselves. It seems I will not be able to bring you and Gimli together and then inquire after Eldarion. A shame, as that would have made for a truly interesting conversation.
Ah yes it would have.
It was Faramir’s considered opinion that Elfwine might become king of Rohan before the day was up.
Oh dear.
Trying to be as inconspicuous as possible, the steward of Gondor waited in the doorway to the quarters that Eomer had been given in the Houses of Healing and watched the room’s occupants like a hawk, ready to interfere should things get out of hand. And in addition to that, he tried to suppress the tickle of laughter that was building in his throat.
hehhe.
Imrahil pressed his lips together and glanced back toward the room, his eyes narrowing for a brief moment before turning back to Faramir. "I do not believe I have enjoyed myself this much in years."
Had Faramir not been raised to hide his emotions, his jaw would have hit the floor. As it was, he blinked and presented a rather good imitation of a landed fish for a split second before he composed himself. "Pardon?"
Imrahil’s lips twitched and his eyes gleamed. "I am concerned for the political situations that might arise from this…incident," he said. "However, I am not blind to just how amusing this is."
heehee but it is Lothíriel you are talking about…
Wew! That was a long Commentary…
I am interested about this Pippin and Elladan business…

Poor Éomer, why did you do this to him? not to mention the affects it has on the others
“Interesting. I suppose it is a rather useless bit of trivia at the moment, but it is interesting nonetheless. Every creature must have a hobby. Mine apparently involves horses.” Understatement of the Year. I have already said that this year, but here is another.

· Chapter 4: Strangers in a Stranger Land
There was an accident," Elfwine whispered, shaking his head as though still in shock. "I was not there when it happened, and the Lady Eowyn sent me away ere I could learn much. But…" He stopped and frowned, his brow furrowing in concentration. "King Elessar was with my father. Prince Imrahil was also upon the ground, and Prince Faramir was seeing to him. More than that I truly cannot say for I was entrusted with the horses. I believe there was a fall. The pole that had been set up to support tomorrow’s main pavilion was upon the ground, but…" He trailed off again and raised helpless eyes to Elfhelm.
Why does he not call them by their relationship to him? My Aunt, Grandfather, etc.

Gimli's trapped in the secret passageways, the twins current plot has just gone out the window, though one of them has another prince that is going to have to be occupied for quite a while, Aragorn is off fuming somewhere, Merry is drunk as all get out, Imrahil is looking for the michief makers, as is Faramir. Lothiel may kill Arwen, while Eowyn is looking for the Prince currently in the twins care, and Legolas still doesn't know that everyone is either in the Citadel or in the Houses of Healing. Please tell me you are still working on this story!!!!!!! I'm absolutely loving it!!!!

I must say yours is some of the best fan fiction I have ever read. Being new to such fiction, I was very disappointed to find this unfinished! I hope that will change as I would very much like to read the end of the story, as well as Land of Light and Shadows. I am an avid reader & new to the world of LOTR having missed the movies in the theater & having to settle for watching them on a pathetic TV screen! However, such movies moved me to read the books & I have been hooked since as the books are so much better! You have captured the spirit of Tolkein & I thoroughly enjoy your stories. Hope to see up dates! Keep up the good work!

· Chapter 11: Revelations and Complications
This was hilarious, from beginning to end. Gimli is quite in a fix in the tunnel, though at least he has found his way back to the nursery. I cannot wait to read more about his rescue from that hideous tunnel.
But Legolas wasn't bad either. So now he has found Eldarion and managed to convince Elladan to hand him over. Though I wonder how miserable Eldarion will make Legolas' life over the absence of the smelly cheese. But I sincerely hope that Elladan will do something that might push Legolas to reveal the true nature of the tra-la-la-la-lally song. I would really love to hear that tale in full :-)
I wonder what Merry will come up with in his drunken state. He must be quite over the top, trying to soothe the floor *vbg*. I don't envy Pippin having to watch him.
But I also don't envy Elfhelm. Though his spectacular entrance in the Houses of Healing did warrant some 'attention' (loved the bit about the obtuse healer not catching the threat of his hand straying towards his knife). But being ordered to watch his King and make sure that the Queens of Gondor and Rohan don't rip out each others throats might turn out to become quite interesting ...
Author's reply
I'm VERY glad you liked it! Gimli's rescue is going to turn into a strange and very short comedy of errors, but it will ultimately prove very fruitful because it will involve acquiring four allies. As for Legolas...he's not going to need much prompting to reveal more of the song, so just hang on for that.
Elfhelm was actually my favorite character in this chapter, in part because of the missed knife communication. He's had a rash of miscommunications, actually, not least of which is the gelding iron. But he'll work everything out in the end. More or less. With help from others.

As usual, I am most pleastantly surprised to receive such a greatly amusing update. Well done!
"If Legolas removed himself even further from the land of the sane, it would be upon Gimli's head." This earns a chuckle. And Gimli is the one crying for help... : )
"Elladan looked up at the towering wall of the Third Circle and blinked, deciding that it was a reasonable jump only if one was a Wood-elf who cared nothing for the safety of his own neck." This was a great way to set off that little confrontation. Poor Elladan. He will have some explaining to do when Elrohir finds him. And now Legolas is stuck with Eldarion! Very funny! And now Eowyn is searching for Elfwine! The whole "Prince" Confusion is very well done.
Thank you once again for this great chapter. (Although it would have been more amusing if Gondor's minstrels were indeed informed of Rivendell's Lyrical Masterpiece). Cheers and keep writing!
Author's reply
Many people accurately guessed that Gimli would be the one in need of rescuing, but in his defense, he DID get him back to the nursery before Legolas. He just can't get in. As for poor Legolas, he's now got his hands full, though not as full as they could be. And he's very aware that discretion is the better part of valor, so that will help in the future. And fear not, for we haven't seen the last of the Tra-la-la-lally song. It will return by the end.

An update! Woohooo!! And what an update - lost dwarves, threats with the gelding iron (I knew that would come back to ... bite someone, but I still managed to choke when I read it!) and above all else, "tralalalally"! Please know that my family are now assured of my insanity by the sudden thump and histerical giggling (yes, I nearly fell of my chair laughing) and my colleagues continue to give me disdainful looks for the more-than-occasional snicker or giggle. But it was worth it. Any chance you could pass on those extra verses? Please? Pretty Please?!?
All the best, and congratulations on yet another wonderful chapter
E.
Author's reply
Yes, the gelding iron is still there, and now we've got the Tra-la-la-lally song to worry about, too. There are a couple of other items floating around that will eventually be brought back, but those are two of the most obvious. My apologies to you and your family for the illusion of insanity, by the way. Those extra verses just might come back to haunt someone in the end, but you'll have to wait and see how. Rest assured that the song will be making another appearance, though.

He he, I had almost given up on this story, which I found some time ago in another site...I'm glad it is back. It's so fluid and full af amusing situations that I'm lucky I'm not at the office currently, or it might have had further consequences than spewing juice across the screen. Legolas secret weapon was deadly indeed! Oh my, it was so wicked to use those silly songs against them! better defeated than dishonoured! Any chance Legolas -or Bilbo- culd be bribed into disclosing the rest of the song?
And Elfhelm! oh my! I was roaring with the billowing cloak! He felt Bema himself! And the slow healer that could not catch his threat! oh my! it is priceless, seriously. Prsently everybody is on the move, and a great catastrophe seems to be looming! Poor Elessar. He has had better days than this one, I presume. In Mordor. Or chasing Gollum. or in south Harad. Wherever.
Go on, please, no matter how long it takes.
Author's reply
My apologies to your computer screen! Hope the juice didn't damage anything. ;) And I'm very glad you liked the appearance of the Tra-la-la-lally song. The rest of the song might be making an appearance later, but not in the immediate future. Still, it's something that will come back to haunt individuals. Kind of like the gelding iron. We're not finished with either of those things yet.
And I'm VERY glad you liked Elfhelm's entrance. That was actually my favorite part of the chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed pitting him against the hapless healer. MANY thanks for such a kind review.

· Chapter 11: Revelations and Complications
There was sometimes much comfort to be drawn from the incompetence of others. This made me laugh, partly because it's true and partly because it's so Gimli.
Elladan's bemusement when faced with a child's unpredictability was very amusing. The kid can choose to cooperate or not, and there's not much you can do about it! I loved the smelly cheese that Eldarion spits onto his uncle's shoulder. Man, it seemed like I spent years with throw up on the shoulders of my clothes. The baby daughter of one of my colleagues threw up on his new sport coat just before he was supposed to defend his dissertation. The coat had been bought for the occasion on a grad student's salary.
I also laughed when I got to that ridiculous song from The Hobbit. I recently listened to that book and the trilogy on CD and gained a new appreciation for all the songs in them. But that one will always sound silly. But what's been left out of the book? Come on! Tell! Other than that, the confrontation between Elladan and Legolas was very amusing. Elladan obviously thinks of himself as cool and reasonable compared to a Wood-elf of the House of Oropher.
Elfhelm is great. He is good at entrances, but he can't deal with three tense women. From his POV, that's a total mystery and he's not sure he wants to unravel it anyway. No good can come from that.
Author's reply
Ah, I'm glad you liked that line out of Gimli's section. It was one of my favorites, actually. I wasn't sure about including it in the end, but I liked it too much to let it go. As for Elladan, I had a blast writing his confusion about Eldarion. I've discovered that there are some people who are naturals with children despite the inherent confusion, and some who aren't. Poor Elladan is definitely in that latter category, but at least he's escaped now. As for what's been left out of the Tra-la-la-lally song, you'll have to wait and see. We're not finished with that song yet.

I just love this story. It is so much fun. I have read it to my husband and he loves it also. I hope when all is said and done, if any one is left standing, that they all kiss and make up. I would hate to have something permenent come between Legolas and the twins, or Legolas and Aragron, or Aragorn and Arwen, or Aragorn and Eomer........... Gee you have everyone against everyone. Can't wait for the next chapter. Thank you for your gift.
Author's reply
Glad you and your husband both enjoy this story! Don't worry. There won't be TOO many hard feelings after all is said and done, though there will be very few left standing. Or even left in Minas Tirith, for that matter. They might bear grudges long enough to plan for next year, but the advantage in having everybody set against everybody else is that you can't stay enemies with everyone. It's too impractical. ;) Thank you so much for the review, and I hope you continue to enjoy!

Heehee! Very nice! Ah, what is Legolas up to now? I can't wait to read about Aragorn's anger once his discovers how his seal was put to use. I'm sure Imhran will put rather put out too. And the twins don't seem to have liked the fact that Legolas freed their horses. Once Eomer wakes up, he and Elfwine will also be rather upset at Legolas. Not to mention whatever Legolas will do next will probably anger Aragorn some more. Apparently, Legolas should watch out, for there will be many attempts on his life before the day is out. Good luck to him. I hope Elladan escapes with Eldarion. I wonder about this herb though. Is it an Elven drug? Speed? I'll stop mocking your genius-and I am sincere, this was very well written-and creativity. Great chapter. Keep writing!
Author's reply
Oh, mock away! I don't mind at all. Aragorn's anger is coming, but it will be a while before he realizes what's been happening in his absence. Suffice it to say, though, that it will be quite a while before any guard in Minas Tirith trusts Legolas ever again. Yes, there are lots of people gunning for Legolas. But never fear. Gimli, Elladan, and Elrohir are going to get their share of people coming after them, too. And we'll find out more about the leaves soon enough.

· Chapter 10: Discretion and Deception
Hehe, this chapter was wonderful, as always. And you have set up so many possible ways for disaster to strike ... Elrohir is about to drag Elfwine into a tavern, Elladan has an impatient and hungry Eldarion to deal with and a most likely very upset Elfhelm who is approaching. Legolas has just sent the King's guards off on a search for the missing twins and their nephew, and those guards expect to see a fake assassination attempt ... I also wonder what herbs are in the small bag Elladan found in Legolas' room.
As for Aragorn: I do so not envy that man. The King of Rohan has developed a crush on his wife, there are three elves on the loose in his city, and he doesn't yet have a clue that his own son is with them. Then there is his stewards wife, runnign around with a gelding iron. I only wonder why Aragorn doesn't get himself a good jug of that Elven wine (if there's still something left after Merry's drunken attempt to burn himself into the storage room), locks himself in a comfortable and ejoys the day. But his sense of responsibility seems to be in the way. Though I do wonder whether he will not be the one who laughs last in the end.
Author's reply
Well, by the end, Aragorn is going to wish he sat down in a corner and had some elven wine, too, except that by the end, there really won't be any that's safe for him to have. It isn't always good to be the king. ;) Still, your suspicions about Aragorn having the final laugh aren't far from the mark. In fact, one might say that he's already had it. The others just don't know about it yet, and neither will we until the very, very end.

This is so WICKED. I really want to know what Arwen is up to. Why is she provoking Lothiriel? And Legolas slicing his way through the tapestry - and then using the king's seal. (What has happened to Gimli by the way?)
Please update soon - I really want to know what becomes of Eldarion and Elfwine - and how those wicked twins get out of this. I don't know for whom I feel the most sympathy - Imrahil, possibly, or Eowyn. Trying to make sense of what is going on must be awful.
Author's reply
Gimli is...well, we'll see what he's up to in the next chapter. Don't worry. I haven't forgotten about our intrepid dwarf. He's still around. Elwine won't be in the next chapter (at least, not physically, though he will be mentioned by name), but Eldairon will. So we'll get to see more of Elladan and Eldarion, which I think is a fascinating combination because they just don't understand each other.
Imrahil and Eowyn are probably deserving of pity throughout this tale, though they'll both be players after a while. Well, not players. Significant sideline contributors would probably be the best way of describing their roles. But Imrahil especially is going to get caught in some of the backlash, so you can definitely pity him.

Oh the SCHEMING! It just kills me. They're all so sly. Am currently a huge fan of Faramir and Elfwine, because they're so innocent in it all. Eowyn is a close second. The twins are just ... awesome. And Legolas! *evil grin* It's a special treat to have two chapters from you within a fortnight. Thanks!
Author's reply
*snort* Well, Elfwine will stay relatively innocent, if only because after a while he won't be able to do anything else. Faramir, though...I'm sorry, I can't see Faramir as innocent at all, but that might be because I know what he ends up doing before the day is through.
And see? I *can* update somewhat quickly. Once in a very rare while. ;)
