This story is awesome!!!! Please update soon! I'm dying to see what happens next, if Legolas and Merry will recover, and if Elrohir will be okay.I was so scared that this story had been abandoned.

I know it's been a long time, but I just want to say -- I read this story in three days because I could hardly put it down! Your characters and worldbuilding are *chef's kiss*; I especially loved Celeborn, Elladan, and Elrohir. If you're ever able to finish this wonderful story, know that there are many readers who would be over the moon, myself included!

I started to read your story and really love it. Thank you for writing and sharing

Please, please, please write more! This story, Land of Light and Shadows, While the Ring Went South/During a Journey in the Dark... I reread all of them regularly, and it kills me that they stop when they do! I know sometimes inspiration just leaves you or real life gets in the way, but... please try to finish them! I will be eternally grateful!

Definitely a great story. I came about it by chance, wondered a bit if I really wanted to read such a long story, and then got so enthralled by it that I couldn't stop reading until the end. And then, while reading the last chapter, I felt a growing sense of unease as the end was approaching and there didn't seem to really be enough left to read to tie up all loose ends. And, in fact, it was unfinished. Now, THIS was really disappointing. Great story, as I said. But it really, REALLY deserves a proper ending.

Dreamflower · 20 April 2011 · Chapter 30: The Roads less Traveled By

*AAARRRGGGHHH!!* I really truly hope this gets finished some day. *bites nails over poor Merry and Legolas* Really a quite brilliant story-- it deserves a conclusion.

An excellent read! I thoroughly enjoyed this fic, however I am disappointed to see that it has no ending. I am very curious to see what happens...is there any hope for a conclusion, despite the time that has passed?

Author's reply

First of all, many thanks for your interest! I'm glad you've enjoyed it so far. Second of all...this story is undergoing a major revamp because I can't quite get to the ending as things currently stand. And my other WIPs will probably be updated first, so I can't guarantee an update anytime in the near future. My sincere apologies!

What a shame this wonderful epic was never finished...and I don't suppose it ever will be. :( Very sad, because it's a tremendous story with great potential.

I don't know how long it's been since I first read this, nor the last time that you updated, but I will still beg for the concluding chapters of this story, not that it sounds that it is very close to a conclusion given the last sentence of the this chapter. I'm fairly certain it has been several years since I began reading this, and though I don't read much in the way of fanfiction anymore, I once again found myself completely enthralled by your storytelling skills. The mixture of humor, angst, and well-crafted wordplay has not only kept me constantly reading chapter after chapter but it has also led me on a more critical journey I may not have gone through in my earlier years. This time around, I felt more aware of the strategies behind your writing and thus better able to appreciate their ingenuity. You are a gifted writer, and I would love to see more of your work in the future... and particularly this story as you ended much on a rather unnerving, albeit exciting end.

Hello, I am about as new as it gets, but better late than never I always say. I found this story and website through elfringham.dsl.pipex.com Celeborn, Lord of Lorien site (fantastic by the way) and like the rest of you, I can't get enough Tolkien or his Elves. Like many reviews I have already read for this story, I too am going to beg you to continue. Then again, I know what its like when life or internet access REALLY gets in the way (all work and no play makes me a dull girl) but this story is the "follow up" adventure to "Lord of the Rings" that many of us yearn for. So a continuation would be incredible if time can be found. ~AB

Wow, it's been a year since the last review ... but I'll still risk the question: will there be an update? You cannot possibly leave us hanging like that! It's a great story, and I'd love to read the rest of it. Any chance there?

Nessa Súrion · 31 May 2008 · Chapter 30: The Roads less Traveled By

I'm sad there haven't been any updates from you lately. Hoping desperately that nothing's happened to dampen your interest in writing LOTR fiction! I love all of your stories, and though the one-shots are great, I really hope you still plan to finish the in-progress ones since I'm completely caught up by all of them and still dying to see where they'll go! Thank you for sharing them with us!

Luinel · 11 August 2006 · Chapter 30: The Roads less Traveled By

Noooooooooooooo! You can't stop here! You can leave us all hanging, I'll die. You are one of my favorite authors in the LotR fanfic circles and you haven't updated since Janurary and so on both this story and Land of Light and Shadows I have been left hanging, waiting in feverish anticipation of your next update. Please, please, please update; or if at the very least you have moved beyond this point at least let us know that you are alive and that all the stories will stand as they are, but hopefully that is not the case. You must finish. Your stories are so well-written and captivating and without the conclusions I am so sadden as to feel as though my life is also incomplete. Begging for a sign and an update, one of your faithful readers, Luinel

Rest assured that I haven't abandoned this story and that I am writing more! It just might take a while until it comes out. Apologies ahead of time, but there's not much I can do about it at this point.

pipinheart · 20 July 2005 · Chapter 30: The Roads less Traveled By

WOW! This was very intense chapter...Where is Elrohir? Not lost forever I hope. The King and Aragorn fighting together, that was real good... They killed the Mouth of Sauron, but does that lift anything off of what was done to Legolas and Merry? Can't wait till you update...Please continue....

Author's reply

Elrohir decided to take a break from this fic for a while. He'll be back, though, so don't worry about that. And I'm glad you liked the teamup of Thranduil and Aragorn. It's something I was excited about since beginning this story, and I wasn't sure if others would like it, too.

It's been four months since you updated this - and an agonizing ten months since we heard from Elrohir!! Is there an update soon? Please? Jay

Author's reply

I'm honestly, truly, really trying to get an update out as soon as possible. The past year has been one of the strangest in my entire life, from family matters to health concerns. Thank you for hanging with me this long! I'd completely understand if you abandoned me altogether. I am trying, though. Promise!

A Elbereth Gilthoniel! What happens next?! You are very good at cliffhangers, did you know that?

Author's reply

I've been told that. Personally, I didn't think this was as big a cliffhanger as some I've done, but I understand that we're in the middle of some rather intense action. Patience! I'll get the next chapter out soon!

TithenFeredir · 24 March 2005 · Chapter 30: The Roads less Traveled By

Oh, man. Your description of the continued battle with all the strategy involved was remarkable. You must have studied something of warfare. The fight between the Mouth of Sauron and Thranduil was excellent. The ending of this chapter was the most chilling part, with the Mouth of Sauron laughing as he died and then the darkness boiling up into that smoke. I wonder now if something also changed with Merry and Legolas at that moment. Hopefully Haldir and Orophin have already gotten them out of the cave by then so that the smoke can't smother them there. This story just keeps getting more and more exciting! ~TF

Author's reply

Well, "studied" is much too strong a term. I've read a lot about battles and strategies, but I'm by no means an expert. Far from it, actually, and I'm always extremely nervous when I have to lay out battle particulars. Fortunately I've never been caught TOO far off base, so I'll take that as an encouraging sign. Glad you liked the part with Thranduil! It was one of the hardest things to write, but I felt the poor guy needed to let off some steam.

TithenFeredir · 23 March 2005 · Chapter 29: The Breaking of Dawn

Wow, this was good. The description of Elrohir's charge and the hand-to-hand combat was excellent. You really created an authentic impression of a chaotic, dangerous situation. I really like the way you put it in Aragorn's point of view, since it combined a warrior's perspective on the battle with Aragorn's anxiety about Elrohir. This is a small thing, but I loved the difference in character between the orc-horns and those of the elves. There were some neat touches in the Haldir/Orophin part of the story. It was a neat little moment where Orophin was suddenly hit again by the effect of Rumil's death because he was no longer there to distract Haldir from his restlessness. That bit with dropping the leaf to get someone's attention was ingenious as well. Also it's very scary that they are going into the cave like that, as it is for Celeborn's recue party. The description of Merry's and Legolas' mental state was really nightmarish, though it's encouraging that they still have a little bit of memory and sense that they have connections with others of some sort, even if it feels to them that those are lost things. Great chapter! I hope your muse is operating. I'm running out of chapters! TF

Author's reply

The decision to show the battle from Aragorn's perspective was something of a risk, as he wasn't actually *in* the battle for much of it. But I like the end result. It's slower and not quite as rushed as it could be, but I enjoy seeing what's happening from someone a bit more removed from events. At least for the beginning part. Orophin and Haldir have a fairly large part to play. Perhaps one of the more crucial parts, though it's not evident now just how crucial that part will be. And it's made possibly by Rumil's death, which is going to affect them throughout the rest of their role. So I'm glad it's not quite wearing thin yet. Sometimes I wonder if I'm overusing it. But it was a traumatic moment for both brothers.
