Larner · 4 January 2007 · Chapter 11: Merry on the Pelennor Fields
Lovely, Primsong. Very much an expression of the grief, both real and augmented by the Black Breath he suffers.

Lovely, Primsong. Very much an expression of the grief, both real and augmented by the Black Breath he suffers.
Larner · 18 November 2006 · Chapter 9: Seabird's Cry
Somehow, Primsong, I managed to miss this one. This is a wonderful manner in which to remember Legolas's sea longing.
Dreamflower · 14 January 2006 · Chapter 6: Galadriel's Message
This is amazingly brilliant! I am in awe of your skills as a poet. I love poetry with structure--I feel it is more challenging than that which is simply free-verse. But all the structures don't have to be the same traditional ones, and this one is wonderful, showing how much more there was to Galadriel's message than appears on the surface. Wonderful!
Armariel · 13 January 2006 · Chapter 4: Lothliorien
Both lush and poignant. You handle imagery with fine skill and sensitivity.
Armariel · 13 January 2006 · Chapter 11: Merry on the Pelennor Fields
Wow...so strong and vivid. The imagery is simple and fitting. Great use of language and thought and emotion throughout. ~~~{~@
Dreamflower · 31 December 2005 · Chapter 3: In the Garden 3: Ithilien
A ruined garden once, but we shall tend it, you and I And make our home beneath its fragrant boughs. A fitting end to this set of three, as they have made their life anew, together!
Dreamflower · 31 December 2005 · Chapter 2: In the Garden 2: Faramir
This is wonderful! I love poems with rhyme and structure best of all, and this is so well done. Too often there is a lack or jangling if the scansion is not quite right--but you get it just so, and at no sacrifice of imagery. I especially loved these two verses, where the last two words of one find repetition as the first two of the next: Could I find in books salvation? Do not believe all wisdom's arms; I lift my sword up for my nation, But learning deflects deeper harms. Deeper harms with wounds that linger. If hearts are strong, bodies will heal. You and I, we know they mingle, We know despair's sword, sharp and real. Beautiful!
Dreamflower · 31 December 2005 · Chapter 1: In the Garden 1: Eowyn
Yes, her love for Faramir must have seemed very strange to her, coming at such a time as it did: in the midst of war and despair, after she had thought herself in love with another, it must have been hard for her to understand herself.
Dreamflower · 31 December 2005 · Chapter 8: Two Such Friends
Yes, the Elf and the Dwarf complement one another, like a yin/yang; their very differences make them stronger. What a beautiful picture of their friendship!
Dreamflower · 31 December 2005 · Chapter 9: Seabird's Cry
Oh, I do love "shape" poems! I think I would love to do this one in calligraphy! It's so perfect for it, it would make a beautiful calligram!
Dreamflower · 31 December 2005 · Chapter 12: Nodding by the Fire
What a beautiful, sweet and loving look at Bilbo by his returning dear ones. I can see instantly your own love for the dear old hobbit, as you describe him sitting there. Furrows of joy and care alike Have traced his beloved face; The memories of his life are in its creases. Crowned with white wool by the passing of years, Such a perfect description.
Dreamflower · 31 December 2005 · Chapter 7: The Banks of the Anduin
What a brilliant Frodo-centric look at an incident much neglected in fanfic. Legolas gets little credit for his feat of slaying the Nazgul's steed and bringing it down, yet it was a mighty shot, and not an unimportant one at all.
Dreamflower · 31 December 2005 · Chapter 13: The Havens
What a mood of peaceful melancholy this invokes--the sorrow of parting, yet the hope of healing.
Dreamflower · 31 December 2005 · Chapter 4: Lothliorien
This really captures the beauty of Lorien as JRRT described it--the beauty of its agelessness, and the sorrow of its fading...
Dreamflower · 31 December 2005 · Chapter 11: Merry on the Pelennor Fields
Oh. This just brought tears to my own eyes: Tears quench the embers of my own battle-fire In this blackened, acrid, smoke-laden mist. My heart beats as a cold weight within me, And I hear my own breath coming in gasps. I am lost, so lost, so lost and alone. My liege and my King - I pressed your hand to my lips; Your words of parting were spoken, Words of the Great to this small hobbit of the Shire. Your dead hand lays heavy in my own. What warmth I have cannot reach where you have gone. I must reach out to close your once-kind, Darkened eyes. The end of your bright morning came so soon. Poor Merry.
Queen Galadriel...again :-) · 30 December 2005 · Chapter 13: The Havens
You know, this could very easily be sung. I was rereading and sang the first verse just now. Then I felt the tears coming and couldn't sing any more. :-)
Queen Galadriel · 30 December 2005 · Chapter 13: The Havens
*wipes eyes* Oh, Primsong, that is absolutely beautiful! These verses completely capture the escence of the many partings on that day. Wonderful! God bless, Galadriel P.S. It's so good to find authors I know from other places. I read stories at the LOTR fan club archive for a long time before I found this site.
Dreamflower · 30 December 2005 · Chapter 10: Pippin in Gondor
Oh my! This is like a knife to the heart! Poor Pippin! It's so very plaintive and evocative. His fearful question about Frodo and Sam, wondering if they are alive and together. I love the repitition "Where has Merry got to in all this?" This is just gorgeous! I hope to come back to the rest of these later. You are a marvelous poet.
Dreamflower · 30 December 2005 · Chapter 5: Wormtongue
Surely the one who taught you to deceive so well Is trustworthy... And of course, that is the whole point of it, isn't it. Grima has placed his trust in one who has taught him to be untrustworthy. Very chilling and well done!
