Ah, Aragorn--hope rises ever in even not-quite-innocent breasts--but he's dealing with a Brandybuck and a Took, after all. Nothing can top that? Oh, Aragorn, Gandalf is right--watch your back, my lad!
Author's reply
Yes, they're going to get him. Subtly, horribly, and lastingly. Poor lad.

Oh my goodness! I have a problem with being chased by cows, but cows barely even HAVE teeth! From now on, I keep track of my clothes... it just gives me the heebie-jeebies! Keep it up.
Author's reply
Lol! I've never been chased by anything larger than a playful cat, so cow would give me a thousand heart attacks. Yes, keep track of your clothes. :)

Hheheheheheheh! Oh hhahahahaha! Good one! I like this one, though this is fron cheaper by the dozen isn't it? I like it anyway! Good show, can't wait for teh next chapter!
Galimeril ;D
Author's reply
Yes, this is from "Cheaper by the Dozen". I'll admit that I'm not very good at thinking up my own pranks; most of these have been suggested to me by various friends.
The next chapter is coming soon! I've got it mostly planned ot already. :)

"Aragorn left Elrond’s study with a smug grin on his face. There was nothing that the hobbits could do that would ever top this."
Well, well ... I wouldn't be so sure about that ;-)
Aragorn's prank was perfectly planned, but my sympathy lies with Merry and Pippin! Poor dears!
Gandalf's scolding was just great! “Follow me, lad, you have much explaining to do." LOL! The future king of Gondor and Anor being treated like a little boy!
But, if you ask me, he deserves it!
Author's reply
Yeah, these are hobbits, Aragorn, but not just any hobbits: they're Merry and Pippin. Fear them!
I do feel sorry for them, too. I would have been terrified in their situation.

Well, it's coming, but only because Gandalf is going to intervene. If he didn't this would continue unchecked for ages. :)

That's me down below. I think I've discovered every way there is to screw up a review. Sorry. ~TF

I thought so; I recognized the '~TF' that you usually put at the end. No worries, I mess up reviews all the time.

Poor Legolas! He was, after all, just being polite and the hobbits were very insistent. Now he's got a nasty hangover and everyone thinks he deservs it.
By this time Boromir must be convinced that everyone in the north is insane.
"Aragorn left Elrond’s study with a smug grin on his face. There was nothing that the hobbits could do that would ever top this."
There's a set up if I ever heard one. *snicker* I so love this story! ~TF
Author's reply
I feel for him, too. I think he'll clear things up in the next chapter.
Poor Boromir. Imagine growing up in a strict court with little amusment, then coming to Rivendell and meeting the mythical King of Men, and watching him pull pranks on two hobbits. It must be completely baffling to the poor man.
Yes, Aragorn has definitely set himself up for a nasty shock. Mwahaha!

Oh, I'm sure if they think long enough about it, Merry and Pippin can come up with something to top it. :D
And I'm nearly certain that Arwen is up to something with Legolas. And the mental picture of Gandalf hauling Aragorn off for a talking-to is just too much!!
Author's reply
Oh, and they will. They most definitely will. :D
Actually, I think Arwen has decided to truce with Legolas. She recognizes that the hobbits got him better than she ever could.
Everytime I picture Aragorn being hauled off, I have to laugh. Oh, the indignity!

That could have been nasty! Not such a good idea, Aragorn. Hobbits are small enough to be quite vulnerable to the size of dogs I should imagine elves favour. The Ringbearer won't appreciate his cousins turning into food-on-the-hoof.
It sounds as if Gandalf has nearly had enough of this!
Author's reply
This was Aragorn showing his blockheaded side. But he wanted to scare the hobbits, and hey. It worked.
Gandalf is going to let Merry and Pippin have one last chance to redeem themselves, and then perhaps he'll speak up.

I am not taking that bet. Poor Merry and Pippin! It won't only be Frodo who has a phobia about dogs now! And then to be encircled by wolves/wargs later on!!!!
Author's reply
I know! It's Merry and Pippin, the lads who can come up with anything! And yes, I think they will be afraid of dogs now, too. Poor guys.

Oh goody! Gandalf's going to give the lads one last chance to get even before he pulls the rug out from under them all and leaves them all with egg on their faces! *snicker* I don't know what he's discovered about that map, but somehow I think *everyone* is going to be immensely embarassed.
And I don't blame him for hauling Aragorn off by one ear. The Ranger should have had more sense than that--his prank was potentially dangerous. He's definitely regressing to childhood here not to realize that. And if Frodo finds out, he's *really* going to regret it, because as we all know, Frodo's not that fond of dogs. Especially big dogs chasing hobbits...
Author's reply
Gandalf is all for them ending on even footing. Because yes, everyone is going to be sheepish when he does speak up!
Aragorn just gave them a good scare. I don't think hte dogs would really have eaten the hobbits...just their pants! :)
Oh dear!
I just *love* Gandalf's reasoning here: I have a feeling that everyone is going to be *extremely* sheepish in a few hours. *snerk*
But I suppose that means this is winding down, *sigh*. I'd been having such a good time reading it, too.

Well Merry and Pippin went to the right person to protect them! I don't know what Boromir will do though if he get drawn into this too far. Poor Merry and Pippin, well I hope no one is getting prnaked too much although it was rather mean of you to end it here! I do like that Gandalf now knows but isn't quite ready to let everyone else in on it yet. Looking forward to more!
And so begins Boromir's protection of the hobbits. How cute! Legolas sleeping with a smile on his face and poor, poor Elrond - lol. There will be many elves happy to see the beginning of the Quest.
'They came in here hysterical about getting Prince Legolas intoxicated . .
Well, they did in a way, Boromir - but not in that way! Aragorn is going to get quite the wrong idea. They were hysterical with distress, Estel, not with laughter.
Not that that's going to save them!
And Gandalf is about to let it run, is he? Perhaps he needs to be the next victim!
oh I have been dying for you to update this now I've got to wait again! But this chapter was worth the wait - Great Gandalf glad he doesn't spoil the fun!!!! Fun?
hehehe! I am enjoying this soooo much! I can't wait for your next updat. Really. Give it to me now preciousssss! Please! Update soon, and best of luck with the writer's blocks. My best cure for them is to read a book in a tree. Don't know why, but I get an A on every paper I do after that, so it must be doing somethng good for teh creative juices!
Until the next update!
Galimeril ;D
PS- What is up with the map? I smell something incedibly sneaky old Gandalf would have a good laugh at. Wait he is laughing! Nooooo! I'm dying to know what happens next! Soon! Update soon! ;)
ROFL!!! LOL!!! hehehehe...OM MY...LOL!!!*dies laughing...lol...hehehehe...oh this is just hilarious....Sweet Eru! LOL!!!LAMO!! LOL!!!

Would it be wrong, he wondered, to tell everyone and put an end to the madness? It was so amusing.
Gandalf cracks me up! He's enjoying himself so much, and knows that everyone else will eventually look back at this craziness and enjoy it.

Oh my, cliffhanger!!!
I found it very amusing that Merry and Pippin ran straight to Boromir for protection. Do they think, they need a warrior to protect them from Strider's anger?
What's Aragorn up to? He doesn't play a prank on the hobbits AND Boromir, does he?
But what I liked best was the reaction of Gandalf:
"Would it be wrong, he wondered, to tell everyone and put an end to the madness? It was so amusing." - I totally agree :)
I was reading this again, this time, to my brother, and he had a prank suggestion. He thought that Aragorn could string up the hobbit's room, but boobytrap the strings. That way they would only suspect he had replicated their prank and be unpleasantly surprised. His suggestion for booby traps were, honey and feathers, or something to do with rotten food. I think he got this from the parent trap, so I'm sure you can improve on it! I'm looking forward to the next chapter, poor legolas, I never imagined him getting high!
