(“I do hope that he doesn’t turn them into newts if they won’t do it,” Bilbo whispered. “I don’t like newts, even ones who are family.”) LOL!!!
Great ending to a great story! I had a lot of fun reading this story and I'm a wee bit sad now, that it's over. There will be an epilogue? That sounds interesting.
Legolas is right: "There really should be more hobbits in the world."
And I totally agree with Sam: “Yes, as once we arrive, people don’t know what they’d do without us.” :)
Author's reply
Bilbo's line had me laughing so hard! I'm glad you like it!
I'm sad this is over now, too. Can you believe that I'd originally intended it to be four pages long? I'm going to have to think up something funny to write very quickly.

A marvelous ending! Poor Aragorn, apologetic (yet still incorrigible) hobbits, a gleeful audience... what fun!

Thanks for the laughter warning - I was rolling on the floor and howling! Too much fun to quote fav bits but - He started it!!!!!- both a petulant and whimpering ranger is too funny for breakfast time. And a fake map - far too clever for me to have guessed. Brilliant and on my favourites list immediately!
Author's reply
Thank you! I'm glad I posted the second draft of the chapter: I usually write one draft and post it immediately, but this one was lacking something when I first finished it. So, I gave it a day and the rest of the Fellowhip decided to spy on Gandalf and Company, and so it turned out to be a much better chapter. I'm so happy I made you laugh!

Oh, this was great! I especially loved Legolas saying "oh, snap". That just cracked me up. I also loved Bilbo's comment about newts. I'm sorry the prank war has to end - I've enjoyed it very much. Where in the world did you come up with so many good pranks?
Author's reply
Isn't that line just perfect for Legolas?! I could so hear him saying right after Gandalf revealed that it was a fake map, and I just about died laughing. Something about the elf saying that just cracks me up. :)
And yay for Monty Python! I adore newt jokes, and they work so well with hobbits.
Most of the pranks came from Dreamflower, who emailed me a list of them, and from books and movies that I've read/seen. The fake map was actually in a comment from a reviewer back around chapter five or so, and I decided to use it. Lol!

Now that was an amusing and fitting end to this adventure. And all because of an Elven Princess' childhood Treasure Map...ROTFLOL!!! Priceless!!
I'm going to miss this fantastic story. The oneupmanship has been so funny to read about it. I need to save this story for those days when I need a good laugh.
Thanks so much for sharing this w/all of us.

Arwen's gonna be in big trouble. Uh huh. *nods*
I'm going to miss this fic too. I've had so much fun writing it. I'll have to think of something else fun to write about, and soon!
You're welcome, and thank you for reading!

*howl*
A *fake* map! I never thought it was completely *FAKE* I just figured it would be out of date or something. And Arwen used it as a plaything. I can't remember--did Merry and Pippin ever *confide* in Arwen as to *why* they were pranking Aragorn? And he's *marrying* her?
Be afraid, Aragorn, be very afraid.
This has been a complete delight of a story, by the way! Thanks for all the many laughs! I've enjoyed every single word of it!
Author's reply
No, Merry and Pippin never did tell Arwen why they were mad at Aragorn. She just joined them in order to get back at Legolas for teasing her one too many times. Poor Aragorn, he needs a hug. :)
Thank you! I'm so glad that you enjoyed it; I never thought that it would turn out so well.

A perfect ending... or is it an ending? Great story, I loved every minute! -- A fellow hobbit --
Author's reply
There will be a humorous epilogue. This could be the ending, but I have to have Elrond's reaction in the story. I just have to. :)
Thank you so much!

I love your story! But, though I like the hobbits, I hope you will make Merry apologise. All this bother and tricks just because he jumped to wrong conclusions and didn't even thought to ASK. And I am not sure, but I think Aragorn has to get his revenge for black teeth, and THEN they will be even. The authors let hobbits get away with murder, figuratively speaking, I think it is time for them to be skolded. Thank you for the story, keep writing. Dika.

Boromir imitating a cat fight - now *that* I would like to see. :) Ink in the drink! Aragorn's going to strangle a certain hobbit once he gets over his shock. I think it's time Gandalf reveals what started this whole mess - as much as I would hate to see the story end, I think it's about to get violent.

Sure do hope that Merry has his running shoes on, or should I say feet. Anyways glad that Boramir has joined into the insanity of the place. Got to love P. G. Wodehouse.

"I’m going to do something so terrible to him that he’ll never dare cross a Brandybuck again. Just you watch, all of you!”
Your Merry is just great! I can imagine him very well saying exactly these words with a determined look on his face. LOL!
And he *did* it! From Aragorn's reaction, for him this was indeed horrible.
Boromir's catfight performance was very funny and it helped to cover Merry's prank. Well, I think I should feel sorry for Aragorn now, but this is entirely his own fault.
Never enrage a Brandybuck ;-)

Well, that was fun! I love Boromir's feeling that he's surrounded by insanity, and then he goeas and imitates a catfight!! What a howl (pardon the pun)!!
*giggles madly*
And now I am curious as the dickens as to what Gandalf has in mind.

That's a remarkable talent Boromir. And distracting. I wonder if your proud father knew of it!
Black teeth. Not subtle, Merry, but maybe adequate for the moment.
Author's reply
Probably not. Can you imagine how Denethor would react to his heir imitating a catfight? No matter how much he loved him, it wouldn't have been good. Hee!
I think Merry was going for something unsubtle and long-lasting. Poor Aragorn.

I think now would be an oppotune time for Gandalf to interfere. After all, he cannot simply leave poor Frodo choking on his mushrooms can he? Not to mention restraining Aragorn from committing murder. I bet Elrond can't wait for everyone to leave him and Rivendell in peace and quiet. Eagerly awaiting more!
Author's reply
Yeah, now that everybody is even, he'll probably step in. Aragorn might have to be put in chains to keep him from wringing Merry's neck, though. And Elrond is just counting down the days until their departure. Poor guy.

Trust a Brandybuck, at least! Too perfect! And the audio version of the catfight to distract all--yes, trust Wodehouse as well! Gaack! Gandalf, you'd better stop the war soon, or no one will live to head for Hollin!

I know, I read that scene and was like, "I am so putting this into my fic." Nodody beats Wodehouse for comedy. :)

Famous last words. Aragorn's in for it now. He'll soon learn to never underestimate a hobbit, especially a Took and a Brandybuck. That underwear-soaked-in-meat prank was just as funny as "Cheaper by the Dozen". No, it was funnier. "Funny, but wrong." lol

I'm back as I've been thinking. Is this map like Thorin's in the hobbit? Is the path only visible in a certain light and did Aragorn even know of it or has HE been slogging through the marshes all these years when he could have gone round? If so who did know and didn't let him into the secret? Perhaps the Twins or even Elrond himself. I can see yet another war starting - good thing they have to leave Rivendell as I am not sure it would survive
Author's reply
You're close. I think it's safe to say that Aragorn does not know about the path, but after that, I'm tight lipped. The answer is coming soon!
