Andrea · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 13: Master Back-Walker

Great story, shirebound! I didn't even know that there existed the art of back-walking! But it sounds just wonderful! “He’s right, Strider,” Pippin agreed. “Whatever will you do when we go home?” “Frodo’s not going home,” Aragorn murmured. “Ever.” Well, Strider is the king, but hobbits are stubborn, especially Bagginses. And so Strider should better ask his wife to take back-walking lessons from the master, as long as he's available! And sooner or later, Lady Arwen will be an expert - and not only in back-walking, I guess ;-)

Author's reply

Thank you! Hobbits have many talents that even a healer-king and his wife didn't know about... until now! I think Lady Arwen and her husband will greatly enjoy this particular knowledge. :)

harrowcat · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 13: Master Back-Walker

Still smiling over this one (and still in pain with my own back!)

Author's reply

I'm glad this has given you a smile, if not a back-walking of your own! I'm afraid the hobbits are still in Minas Tirith, teaching the queen some of the finer points. *gentle back rubs*

Agape4Gondor · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 13: Master Back-Walker

Excellent! *clap clap clap* Those darn King duties can kill a man.... great that Arwen was amenable... I wonder what the two of them did afterwards???? Hmmmm... *blushes furiously*

Author's reply

You rascal. Or is it our esteemed king and queen that are the rascals? :) Glad you enjoyed!

Agape4Gondor · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

This was absolutely delightful - I loved Frodo under the table!!! As for food and drink - Merry is absolutely correct IMHO - ale is a vegetable and we all know we need at least four... five... six servings of vegetables every day..... ROTFL

Author's reply

This was such fun to write! :)

Agape4Gondor · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 11: Like Home

That was lovely. I can just imagine Merry 'preparing' Crickhollow. Very nicely done.

Author's reply

Thank you very much. It's often the unseen, quiet moments that mean so much.

Lindelea · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 13: Master Back-Walker

LOL! I don't know how you come up with these ideas, but this was good for a smile and a few chuckles. I remember backwalking, with a bunch of other teenage girls, on a camping trip in the wilderness... And so it came to be known, among the denizens of Minas Tirith, that the Queen of Gondor practiced the much-prized art of back-walking, after the style of the pheriannath, upon her husband the King. This technique was much sought after, and healers and apprentices came from afar to learn the skill from her. For, after all, Queen Arwen had received her training from none other than the Master Back-Walker himself, the Ring-bearer -- Frodo Baggins of the Shire.

Author's reply

I'm so happy that this gave you smiles and chuckles! And the passage you quoted was one of Gentlehobbit's lovely contributions.

Agape4Gondor · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 10: Touch

I was most pleased that PJ used hands so often in his movies... I was especially drawn towards 'Boromir's' hands... so I enjoyed reading of those that comforted Frodo - great job!

Author's reply

Thank you. I just can't get enough of the many ways Frodo can be given comfort.

Agape4Gondor · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

Hauntingly beautiful.

Author's reply

Thank you. :)

Agape4Gondor · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 8: Finding Peace

I loved the 'astounding new height' of M&P - that was cute and probably a decided shock for Sam! This was great - I'm glad you thought of Sam and having Elrond speak with him. As much as Sam loved Frodo - it must have killed him to have 'let' the Ring take his Master. Wonderful insight and great writing!

Author's reply

Thank you so much. There are few conversations between Sam and Elrond, and this seemed like a good subject for them.

Pearl Took · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 13: Master Back-Walker

Wonderful!! Oh I love this and wish I had a back-walker of my own . . . Pippin would do nicely ;-)

Author's reply

Thanks, Pearl. Hobbits have many talents! :)

Periantari · 29 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

¡°¡¯Course,¡± Pippin said. ¡°Drinking without eating is... well...¡± He looked confused. ¡°Who would do that?¡± i agree! lol! i think i agree that Sam (or Sham) would win...I think Frodo could drink too though but drunk!Frodo is so very funny. lol! ♥

Author's reply

There's nothing Sham wouldn't do for his Mr. Frodo, including drinking Pippin under the table. :)

Periantari · 29 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

LOL~! I LOVE YOUR DRUNK HOBBITS! ok..yes i was very amused by this story since i think i slur too when i have had too much to drink. What a hard game to play while drinking though! awesome...i'm so amused i'm going to reread. :D thanks fro writing this, Janet~ miss ya!

Author's reply

I miss you, too, Peri An! I'm glad you enjoyed the tipsy foursome. This was such fun to write. *hugs you*

Tigger · 28 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

Oh my...Me thinks there's going to be some awfully big heads the next morning. I dare you to attempt that little scene Shirebound m'dear. :oD I did love this though... Frodo pulled on Aragorn’s tunic. “Poor Merry, he only got to have one teenshy weenshy mug before his handwriting started getting fuzzy and he had to stop. But we left enough for you and Gandalf and Migli and Leglas.” “That is very generous,” Aragorn said. “However, those ceremonial tankards are hardly ‘mugs’.” “Aren’t they wonderful?” Pippin beamed. You won't be thinking that in the morning Pippin...*snicker* Considering just well hobbits can hold their ale, they're lucky to be getting a taste of the ale in the barrel. Especially w/the size I'm guessing those ceremonial tankards were. This was delightful. Poor Aragorn though. ;o)

Author's reply

I'm so glad you liked this, Tigger! If the "morning after" muse ever comes visiting, I'll certainly write a follow-up. Yes, poor Aragorn. But his life is never dull when there are hobbits around. :)

Grey Wonderer · 27 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

(((((“Mr. Frodo, I can’t see my lips,” Sam said worriedly.))))) hehehehe Neither can I! And I didn't even have anything to drink. I loved this. Thank you for the drunken hobbits and the great laugh!

Author's reply

It was a pleasure to write and share this. Thanks, GW!

Antane · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

“Pip and Sham won,” Frodo insisted. Even drunk as skunks, Frodo and Sam remain loyal to each other. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Of course they do! *grins*

Elflingimp · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

Well of course they did!!!Hic!, Cute, Hic!

Author's reply

Thanks, this was fun. :)

Armariel · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

teehee......very cute....*hic* but shomebody is gonna be very hung over in the morning......and it ain't gonna be me.......I think.....................:D:D:D:D:D Cheers! ~~~~{~@~~~~{~@~~~~{~@~~~~{~@~~~~{~@~~~~{~@~~~~{~@~~~~{~@~~~~{~@~~~~{~@

Author's reply

*Several* somebodies are gonna be very hung over in the morning! Hopefully our healer-king is prepared for four very grumpy hobbits. :)

Baggins Babe · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

Sam frowned. “But no one’s named that. Strider’s name is...” He thought hard. “Strider!” he said triumphantly. “Hah, I win.” Bwahahaha! Oh dear, that is hilarious! Never reason with anyone who had one or three over the eight. I loved Frodo grumbling about Lobelia's name too. They won't be as cheerful in the morning though.

Author's reply

Let's not think about the morning... let's just enjoy our hobbits happy, tipsy, and totally entertaining. Thanks, BB!

Andrea · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

ROTFL!!! I reviewed this before, but I could not resist! “You shouldn’t have tried to trick Sham,” Frodo scowled up at Merry. He tried to swat his cousin on the leg, but missed. “Strider’s name IS Strider. You should know that by now.” Don't try to argue with a drunken hobbit, for he'll always win ;-) Just a silly question: How much ale does a tankard hold? One litre, or more?

Author's reply

You sweetie, thank you for the second review. And I really don't know the answer to your question in this particular case, sorry! There are tankards, and then there are large *ceremonial* tankards, from which the hobbits are drinking in this scene. :)

cookiefleck · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

Thish ith so funny! *wants more*

Author's reply

I think you *and* the hobbits need to sleep this off! So glad you enjoyed. :)

Larner · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

As a healer he must know one cannot properly debate with someone who's drunk, as they can barely think as it is. Poor Frodo! Poor Aragorn!

Author's reply

If he didn't know it before, he certainly knows it now. :)

harrowcat · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

“Drinking without eating is... well...” He looked confused. “Who would do that?” Well certainly not hobbits - even ones who are one drink past tipsy! *g* Love gentle Aragorn!

Author's reply

They *are* slightly past tipsy, aren't they? :)

Queen Galadriel · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

ROTFL! *gasps to recover breath* Oh my word...wow! Just...wow. They'll feel *great* in the morning, LOL! “Wait a minute, mine had seven shyllables, and he only had six!” Frodo protested. “Irrelevant.” Merry waved him off and held up the paper again. “Sam, here’s your last one.” “What is that?” Sam asked in horror. “Our new king,” Merry explained. “His name is Strider,” Sam informed him haughtily, in a tone he never would have taken if not drunk as a skunk. “This is the name he’ll be known by,” Merry explained. “You can do it, Sam; I’ve only given you six syllables, the same as Pip.” “I told you Pip only had sixth,” Frodo said, vindicated. He slid dizzily to the floor and sat there, confused. “Where did Sham go?” “Mr. Frodo needs me,” Sam said desperately. “I can’t be playin’ this silly game anymore, Mr. Merry.” *giggles* Nice try, Sam. And Merry is just being so...Merry! :D “It’s not Merry’s fault that Cousin Lobelia has such a complistrated lash name,” Frodo continued. “Aren’t I right?” “Of course you are,” Aragorn said soothingly. He carried Frodo to the bedroom, followed by the three other hobbits. Sam staggered to a chair, Pippin hiccuped his way to another, and Merry stood, not that steady on his feet himself, watching Aragorn seat Frodo on the bed. “However, those ceremonial tankards are hardly ‘mugs’.” Um...was that supposed to be "complicated?" *grin* I'll say hardly mugs. Let's hope the rest of the fellowship knows how to use moderation a little better than our Hobbits! :P Thanks for a great laugh, Shirebound! God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Frodo *was* trying to say 'complicated', but he didn't quite succeed, did he? Glad you enjoyed, QG! I agree that our hobbits may be in less of a party-like mood, come morning. :)

Lindelea · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

*snort* Chuckled my way through this. Wonderful sense of timing. What is it about hobbits and drinking games? Sam's perfectly right. Strider's name is Strider. I didn't quite get the point of the game, but got the general gist, I think.

Author's reply

I guess the point of the game is seeing who can read and speak coherently the longest. *grins* Glad you enjoyed! And Sam *is* right, of course. :)

Hai Took · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 12: Battles Won and Lost

lol, they certainly wouldn't want to wait long before getting back into their ale. "Frodo concentrated mightily through the ale-induced fog that had once been his brain..." Poor Frodo, I think Merry rather tricked him, giving him more syllables. Thanks for the laugh this morning!

Author's reply

Yes, Merry should be ashamed of himself. Strider too, for having such a complistrated name. Glad this gave you a laugh! :)
