Heh! Hilarious! LOL! I know ít's been a while since you posted this, but I'd just like to let you know that this one made me laugh out loud. Ha! Rather fascinating for Elrond to have a cold! *snort!* What better way to develop understanding for one's human patients, eh? I love your humor pixie!
Author's reply
Thank you so much! I do enjoy finding "the lighter side" of Middle-earth, while still trying to keep everyone in character. :)

:) *chuckles* Good old Sam! lol Keep those nasty elvses with their fever-stickses away from the Master, eh, preciousss? What a lovely bit of light-heartedness! Well done!
Author's reply
Thank you, glad this gave you a chuckle! I think Sam would protect his Mr. Frodo in *any* circumstance. :)

What a lovely picture you two have painted here. The last line brought tears to my eyes.

Thank you so much, Harrowcat. We had a lovely time working on this together. Gentle hobbit-comfort is such a joy to write!

Thank you, Linda. Kittens are such a sweet distraction for Frodo, and even for a king. :)

It's only 38 degrees here tonight but I'm all warm and fuzzy now! This was adorable! Thank you for the hobbits and kittens! Two of my favorite things in one story! The roast potatoes were nice too.
Author's reply
Glad we could help warm you up with a nice helping of hobbits and kittens and taters!

There's nothing like a kitten (or a cat) for making a person relax. Even the medical profession now admits that stroking a pet lowers the blood pressure.
Furry huddle - I love that. I have watched so many furry huddles in my time.
I read a lovely description once - 'furry, singing hot water bottles that never grow cold'!
I love how tender and caring Aragorn is to his hobbits (and kittens) and the love which Frodo and Sam have for each other. I think we'd all love to be in the caring of this King. *sigh*
Author's reply
Thank you, BB. Mews and I really try to give Frodo the tender care he deserves. Pets, Sam, blankets, food, peace and quiet, respect, love, and a healer-king. *happy sigh*
I'm trying to convince my landlord to let us have pets. I hope to have a "furry huddle" myself one of these days!

A trifle movie-verse, I see, with them waking in the city rather than the glade in Ithilien, but dear for all that. They must have been somewhat confused. And am SO glad someone provided them with kittens for their comfort, and that Frodo insisted Sam rest by them. They must have comforted one another so after their separation from the others; now to accept they can still do so. And I'm so glad Frodo is as aware of Sam's distress as Sam is of Frodo!

That was one of Mews's wonderful ideas. Thank you, Larner. So happy you enjoyed this gentle 'comfort' tail... err, tale. :)

OMG! this is beautiful! Being a 'cat person' I love the kittens in this story. A soft purr and warm little live body is all a person needs to feel better. The addition of the kittens is perfect. :)
Author's reply
We have to thank Mews for the original idea; she's definitely a 'cat person' as well as a 'Frodo person'! Thank you, Neilia; we really enjoyed writing this. :)

Lovely ending - Frodo and Sam wrapped up in each other and that kiss to both of them from Aragorn. I think Sam would be concerned about his 'place' when others could see, but they both know his place is right where Frodo - and God - placed him, right beside his treasure. Nice touch that Frodo is attuned to Sam's feelings like Sam is to Frodo's.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
The one thing Sam knows for sure is that his place is with Frodo. It's lovely to ensure that they both get comfort and healing.

Aredhel settled the two from his lap on the counterpane, against his feet, then gently lifted the "little 'un" from her cosy place on Frodo's chest and tucked her against her brothers. The furry huddle squirmed for a few seconds, then settled down again.
How sweet! I love the expression "furry huddle". It's quite descriptive :)
Not only Frodo, but also Sam get all the comfort they deserve in this little story. As always, Sam had to be persuaded to accept it.
Safe at last in the King's keeping - what else could they wish for!
Author's reply
Isn't that a sweet expression? That's one of Mews's gems.
Glad you enjoyed this! Our hobbits can never get enough comfort.

Awww. Delightful. There's rather a large dog at my feet at the moment, washing her paws as if in imitation of some small kitten somewhere.
The kittens were perfect, reminding me of a quote I read somewhere about "the drugged, trusting sleep of a kitten". There were so many little touches--the talk about wondering if they were in the world of the living, the calming effect of the kittens, the comfort that surrounded them, the understanding between the two, and the hobbity observation that Aragorn would make a good king, based on the food he sent them... (just for a few)
Author's reply
Thank you, Lindelea. Both Mews and I (and Aragorn and Sam, of course) always try to make sure Frodo has the most gentle, loving, and undivided attention of his caregivers.

Lovely, Shirebound. The final scene of Aragorn finding Frodo and Sam asleep with the kittens is my favorite.
...and the King of the West bent to stroke her soft head before bestowing a gentle kiss on the brow of each hobbit, safe at last in his keeping.
This last sentence really struck me. Would that we were all in Aragorn's safekeeping *sigh*.
Being a cat-lover myself, I really liked this. A nice little movie gap-filler.
Author's reply
I agree, we would all be so happy to be "in the keeping of the king". :)
Thank you, I'm very happy you enjoyed this. Mews and I really enjoyed writing it together.

I can so relate to this. I've had my back looked after by a Chiropractor and know just how much a tight back can hurt. I can very easily imagine how much Aragorn relaxed after Frodo's treatment of him.
Great story m'dear!! :o)
Author's reply
Thank you, Tigger. There can never be too much comfort or care for our hobbits... or our favorite healer-king. :)
Oh what a lovely story, Shirebound! I believe the art was practised in Japan and China originally but how marvellous to imagine our beloved hobbits being the masters of the art. I love the idea of Arwen learning the art from Frodo.
A friend of mine, suffering long-term back problems and tension, consulted a back-walker and raved about the experience. It really does work.
Author's reply
Thank you. I'm so tiny, I could probably walk on people's backs myself. I just love the idea of hobbits teaching the king and queen a new technique to enhance their lives together. :)
