Awww, I just love all the fluff! But what about some more Estel/Frodo fluff? There hasn't been that much of it. Or maybe you just spoiled me into wanting more! ;)Update soon!

Another two wonderful fluffy chapters :) I am wondering how long Pippin will NOT bother the ducks. He's a toddler after all :)

Smiles, Smiles and more Smiles!! I am so enjoying this story and needing it's brightness. Thank you a million times. And I won't chase the baby ducks either.

Hi there! I'm reading your current story, "Estel's Birthday," because I always read anything I find by you. (You're terrific!) However, I think you got my comment mixed up somehow with one of yours in your reader responses for chapter three. (It sounds like I'm attempting to take credit for the story. And while I'd love to, honor forbids it.) I think my original comment went something along the lines of: "Baby hobbits! Puppies! Could I be having any *more* fun reading this?" followed by the usual: "Thanks for a wonderful story!" If it didn't go like that, I repeat: Baby hobbits! Puppies! Could I be having any *more* fun reading this? Thanks for a wonderful story! Best to you, Jeodo Brandybuck

Is it not amazing how much stuff must be brought along when a child is coming to. Plus with hobbits a lot of food must come too, lucky Estel, he will get fatten up in no time. I imagine Pippin must come up to about the horse's knee. Do horses have knees

“You’re sunshine on the flowers,” Bell said softly, “you always have been." What a lovely description of Sam. I am very much looking forward to the rest as your stories are always wonderful. This one is hitting a very special spot. Thank you, LinweP

Janet, More squees from me for this chapter (as well as a few 'awws'). I really like your Frodo (especially with Pip--he's *so* patient!). I'm so glad you don't write him as helpless. The scene with Frodo, Pip, & the duck family was just precious (I can remember scenes like that--not with ducks, though--from my own childrens' growing up years). I also really liked what Bell had to say about Sam and Frodo--Sam brings light to Frodo in countless ways. Mostly, I think, just by being Sam. I also like Estel's implication that he and the Rangers guard the Shire for other reasons than just because it's what they are commanded to do by Gandalf. I think to know hobbits is to love them. Oh, and my dog, Hollyn (yes, named for *that* Hollin) wants to know what kind of dog Scamp is. Personally, I think she'd like to invite Scamp to play.

This is a great story. So sweet and I love the puppy! And of course, there's Bilbo. I always enjoy Bilbo.

Elenar · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 4: By The Water

Another great chapter! I loved all of it, especially the bit with the ducks.

“You’re sunshine on the flowers,” Bell said softly, “you always have been. What a lovely way to describe Sam and his relationship with Frodo. This was a very sweet chapter. For just a moment, when Frodo put Pippin in his little nest in the cart, I was afraid he was going to leave him alone there. I'm glad Bilbo had the sense to make sure Frodo knew Pippin was too young to be left, in the cart or anywhere else.

Lovely! What an adorable chapter this is! From Sam's moving conversation with his Mum to Frodo's gentle care of little Pippen to Bilbo and Aragorn's conversation...all so wonderful! Thank you for bringing so much delight to my life with your stories! You are such a tease! Something unexpected...what could it be? Hurry with the next chapter! Bessings, cp

i LOVED the description of the campsite, and the last couple of lines spoken by Estel and Bilbo. Another brilliant update! Hmmmm, chapter 5 should be interesting, lol, can't wait!

" Why, there’s nothin’ to it, Mr. Frodo,” Sam replied. He pretended to eat one of the tiny fingers, which set Pippin off into a giggling fit. “I was this lad’s age when Marigold was born, you know. I’ve had a lot of experience carin’ for a young tot.” " Oh, I just love living in the Shire. It's so much fun to go off on vacation and spend time doing fun things like this with all my darling hobbits. I will have to try this on my own tots. " “It wasn’t still winter last time,” Bell Gamgee said firmly, stuffing a warm cloak into the bag. “Early spring or not, just a couple hours away or not, you just never know, Samwise.” " OK, angst or water-rippling, whatever you want to call it, but I hope that these extra cloaks are a hint of h/c to come . . . especially for my hero the future Ringbearer . . . work has been so stressful lately, I need a double helping of this kind of lovin'-up! Thanks again and I'm looking forward to the Barrows story, too. Now, there's a chapter that hasn't been explored much! Love always, Esamen

I adore how you have made not only Sam, but especially Fwodo - ;-) - so very patient with wee Pippin. As I read the little convo about the ducks I couldn't help thinking: why can't a find a Fwodo to explain things to MY lads? Made my heart go pitter-pat, it did. And you have me salivating for Chapter Five. Such a pleasant little story; thank you for it! :-)

SlightlyTookish · 11 September 2004 · Chapter 4: By The Water

Oh, this is great! I especially loved the conversation between Sam and his mother. '“You’re sunshine on the flowers,” Bell said softly, “you always have been. Mr. Frodo needs all the sunshine he can get..."' That whole part was so beautiful, and very touching :)

Love the fluff! Can' wait for more. :D

Pearl Took · 6 September 2004 · Chapter 3: Dueling Bagginses

Ah! The fun Peter Jackson has brought us by casting Billy Boyd as Pippin and allowing him to use his native accent! With Tolkien having credited the Tooks with inventing golf, it makes perfect sense to have them be "Scottish" hobbits. Also, most of us have the four Travellers looking like they do in the movies, but that is alright as well I think. This is wonderful as always. A joy to read, a brightening to my day. Thank you so much!!

pipspebble · 5 September 2004 · Chapter 3: Dueling Bagginses

*sigh* Such sweetness! I don't think I've told you before how much I'm enjoying this, so let me just state it quite clearly now: I LOVE THIS FIC!!!!! It canNOT be too sweet for this writer, the one who likes to make her characters absolutely *wallow* in chocolate. I will be watching closely for the next chapter of goodies!

EllyBaggins · 4 September 2004 · Chapter 3: Dueling Bagginses

loved it! especially the description of pip's stuffed toy :) and this line was great: “I wonder if hobbits can be taught to do that,” Aragorn said, brushing his hands together in Frodo’s direction. well done, look forward to the next update ~x~

esamen · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 3: Dueling Bagginses

" Frodo’s confidence and self-assurance are so much stronger than when we first met.” Ah, so now Frodo's grown up past the Quarantined phase but he's not quite at the BCOP phase yet. Oh, good! Now we can have an "Estel's Birthday" phase! Love it! Please shower us with fluff (is that possible?) and if at all possible, can you sneak in just a little angst? We love it so much and you do it so well. Don't you dare let Pippin drown in the pond, though. That would be pretty scary. I very much like your comment about PJ's casting a distinctive accent in order to highlight the uniqueness of the Took clan. I hadn't thought that through. Proof again that the more we think about them, the better the stories get. Happy typing!

Auntiemeesh · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 3: Dueling Bagginses

I hadn't realized that Aragorn's birthday was so close to mine. I like that! Frodo paused in the hallway as tears sprang to his eyes. Knowing that the people whose opinions he valued most were proud of him, filled his heart with such joy, he feared it would burst. I'm glad Frodo overheard this. It's good for him to be reminded of how much he is loved. *hugs Frodo* I loved everything about this chapter. You write the best fluff!

Parker · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 3: Dueling Bagginses

Janet, Do you mind if I squee? This story just gets cuter & cuter. I like the fact that you took a movie thing (Pip's accent) & worked it into this story. I can see flashes of Aragorn in Estel, even at what I'm assuming must be a fairly young age. I also love Bilbo & Frodo's good-natured 'bickering'. Another wonderful chapter (just what I needed after this week)

Mysterious Jedi · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 3: Dueling Bagginses

simply lovely

Elenar · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 3: Dueling Bagginses

Lovely chapter! I love your Pippin, very cute. I am looking forward to their camping adventures.

LaughingBrook · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 3: Dueling Bagginses

I'm loving this-and I'm sure you've heard thios many times, but that's not unusual when it comes to your stories!
