That last line is an absolute hoot!! Just the sort of thing a toddler would do. Although how he managed to stop himself giggling with glee I will never know.

What a horrible ache it must be, to have lost ones parent/parents at a young age. Especially when those parents were good and caring ones. It always makes me think of Billy Boyd (alright . . . *a lot* of things make me think of Billy) Still sweet, still fun!! Of course Pip put feathers in Aragorn's hair!!

Oh, this is great! I didn't know that meteors can turn sand into glass - that's so interesting. And what a lovely souveneir for them to have from this camping trip. (P.S. I don't think Pippin could ever be too cute! I love the way you're writing him).

Oh, Shirebound! I was so excited to wake up this morning and find this waiting on my friends list! What a perfect thing to start off a lovely, quiet, rainy Saturday morning! Now I can daydream about tween Frodo and Aragorn and toddler Pip and the ever cuddly Bilbo and Sam all day as I go about the drudgery of housework. See how you've brightened my whole day? :) I am absolutely fascinated by the concept of meteors turning sand into glass. It just amazes me that can (and does) happen. I'd love to find a piece. I know some enterprising near-beach dwelling person must cash in on the phenominon...perhaps I could find a piece to buy. *adds to Christmas list...right after new digital camera just like the one they gave me at work! :p* Your toddler Pip is really stealing my heart - the little scamp! Poor wittle baby boo-boos...needed kissing by Aragorn! So sweet! Yummy bonding between Aragorn and Frodo! I just love these two together pre-quest. It's too bad it couldn't have really happened that way. Or, actually...who says it COULDN'T have?!? You've certainly made ME believe it! Just a great chapter all around. Can't wait for more! Blessings! cp

I wonder how long Frodo could have kept a straight face while talking to Estel. *brandishes chair in little Pip's direction* Back! ;D

Maybe Pip thought Aragorn to be the mother duck!!! Fluff is okay with me. What will they do with that glass? Maybe some kind of wind chime that refracts the sun's rays?

Finally! Some Frodo only time! I'm glad you like my cat's name. I can't imagine why everyone doesn't have a pet with an LOTR name! ;) I absolutely love Frodo, and if I had a boy cat he would definitely have a name beginning with an 'F'. Hmmm, maybe Frodo would be a great name if I ever have a son.....

great chapter, so maybe one of the stars or part of it, fell near them. loved how Pippen wanted to kiss Aragorn's finger to make it feel better. nothing like a star shower, have not seen one of them in ages.

Hey! I dont know if you actually remember me... it is true that i haven't reviewed for a while but I am still reading your stories, dont worry... Love this one!!

Elenar · 3 October 2004 · Chapter 6: Hobbity Healing

Lovely chapter! I loved Pippin singing his duck song in the bath, very cute! I'm looking forward to their exploration of the area.

Elwen · 3 October 2004 · Chapter 6: Hobbity Healing

Aragorn really must tell Elrond about that new healing technique. It would make for a very interesting post Weathertop injury scene.

melilot hill · 3 October 2004 · Chapter 6: Hobbity Healing

Awww :) It just can't get more fluffier than this, can it? I just adore toddler Pippin!

SlightlyTookish · 3 October 2004 · Chapter 6: Hobbity Healing

Another lovely chapter! Toddler Pippin is just *too* adorable. I loved how he applied the 'kiss it and make it better' theory to Aragorn, of all people! And the meteor was very interesting - that was probably the last theing I expected! Each chapter just flows so well from one to the other - just terrific :)

pipspebble · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 6: Hobbity Healing

What an adorable character you have brought to life with toddler Pippin. I love seeing how you have Frodo taking such good care of him, and Scamp is giving him a run for his money with the cuteness factor. Another wonderful chapter. Thank you for the gift of Estel's birthday! :-)

esamen · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 6: Hobbity Healing

He smiled and touched the boy’s shoulder in reassurance, and Bilbo thought he saw the Ranger wince. I read this and thought, oh, she's going to do some of her inimitable h/c stuff . . . well, it was darling-ly done with the cold water and Pippin's little kiss, but just not life-threatening, huh? We will have to take what we can get from the famous shirebound! Loved the whole chapter . . . thanks for writing and hey, thanks, Mom, for being such a great support. shirebound, you're blessed to have a mom who is so in tune with what you're doing.

Lindelea · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 6: Hobbity Healing

Sigh of contentment. A toddler bath is much reading fun. Don't the Elves know about kissing owies? Someone's *got* to tell them! An interesting day, indeed!

Lindelea · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 5: Nienna's Tears

Aragorn followed the boy’’s gaze (small typo) “There’s more?” (You mean, Aragorn doesn't know his hobbits? I mean, the amount they eat?) Therefore, we are all equally scandalous and without manners Impeccable logic, Bilbo! I like your story of Nienna's tears. It sounds very Tolkien-ish. Ah, ha! (Did one of Nienna's tears land nearby, called by the story?)

Lindelea · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 4: By The Water

Sam as sunshine on the flowers. Very nice word-picture. Their packing for camping sounds exhaustively like our packing for camping. Thinking in my imagination that Ollie's head from nose to eartip is possibly as tall as Pippin's whole body! I cannot believe a bright and curious Pippin wouldn't get into some sort of trouble. Hope I don't get interrupted before chapter 5!

Lindelea · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 3: Dueling Bagginses

So poignant, the contrast between overheard conversations in Brandy Hall, and the one in Bag End. Bilbo and his verbal tussles! warm, fed, loved, and kept busy--sounds like a formula for any toddler O now, I want to know what the Elves think about star showers, too! (I imagine the Tooks have a distinctive speech pattern too. Had a lovely chat with a linguist recently, who discoursed on all the dialects to be found in places like the British Isles and the mountain valleys of Switzerland and even in the modern-day US. Someone told me once (this is hearsay, of course, but it made sense at the time) that Tolkien set up the Tooks' clannish ways and chieftains and "Thain" based on Scottish ways, so a Scottish brogue is not out of order; though they often sound a bit more Irish to my inner ear, for some reason, perhaps because that's the lilt I remember from childhood.)

Lindelea · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 2: Getting Acquainted

“Whatever have you adopted this time?” Aragorn asked. (This struck me funny. You have such a wonderful sense of timing!) What a great thing for Aragorn to say: “You said that the Thain looks after the Shire, ‘until the King comes back’.” “Pip’s so small, I think Scamp believes that we’ve brought another puppy home.” This is so true! Our grumpy old dog was always very careful around children under two, very protective and tolerant, though quick to warn children old enough to know better not to mess with him. ...planting clover just for Ollie, how sweet! Why, he could pop this wee one into one of his boots, and there would be room to spare. I love this, and the description of Pippin that follows. Scamp is so cute! I should say she remembers Aragorn!

Grey Wonderer · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 6: Hobbity Healing

This is great! Something interesting to investigate in the woods tomorrow. I am enjoying this very much and Pip is so cute as always! LOL I am also so glad to find a story with this much Bilbo in it.

Lindelea · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 1: Love at First Sight

Finally got a moment to start reading this story, but only a moment! Already there's a line forming for the computer... A few thoughts that happened as I was reading the chapter: I love the descriptions of young Pippin: "might just bite you back" "never stops moving, eating, or giggling, often all three at once" “When he grows older, you’ll see why Gandalf’s always kept an eye on that side of the family.” (but Pippin's not quite full-blooded--his mother's a Banks. I know, nitpick, nitpick) unpacking = scattering! LOL

Parker · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 6: Hobbity Healing

Janet, Awww...I'm sitting here with a smile as wide as the Atlantic plastered on my face. While I love angst, I love 'fluff' (really, what I'd call it is more 'A day in the life') stories. Loved, simply loved sweet Pip's line about kissing a hurt to make it better--brought back memories of my mum kissing my hurts (and there were many). To this day, she'll do that (and I'm 47!). I love too Estel's patience with Pip. You portray that so well--love also your portayal of Toddler Pip. (Do you by any chance know any kids this age--you write it *so* well!) Eagerly awaiting the next chapter (it was a meteorite, yes?)

EllyBaggins · 2 October 2004 · Chapter 6: Hobbity Healing

hehehe! i can't wait for frodo and estel's walk!
