Larner · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 11: Farewells and Revelations

Lovely interlude, and a good vision of the early childhood of our favorite young Hobbit. Thanks for the story.

Author's reply

Thank you so much for reading this story. I'm very happy you enjoyed it. You know, in fact, there was no foreshadowing planed but you are the second one to tell me you see foreshadowing. And Balin has certainly learned something about young hobbits... and, I guess, so has Gandalf :) Thanks again!

Larner · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 10: Powerful Wizard

Poor little Frodo. A bit too much all in too short a time for such a little one.

Larner · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 9: Another Guest

Lovely imagery, and so true to life.

Larner · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 8: The Long Way Home

I love the story, and feel the foreshadowing of the day when Frodo will walk oh, so much further.

Larner · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 7: Dwarven Tales And Dragons' Gold

Those who travel with children WILL experience this--again and again.

Larner · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 6: Of Mice and Young Hobbits

Poor little Frodo, stuck in a mouse hole! And then promised (probably he won't let Bilbo get away with not telling him) a tale on his poor father. Balin is definitely going to get an education in child development among hobbits, isn't he? Loving it.

Desidera · 8 July 2005 · Chapter 11: Farewells and Revelations

*laugh* Great ending! I loved how they had to convince Primula everything was ok, and the comment about who Frodo got his talkative nature from... I also liked Frodo climbing on Gandalfs lap to say goodbye to him *cute*

Author's reply

Yep, Primula and Frodo have a lot in common :) I'm very happy you liked it. I guess, I will miss young Frodo.

Larner · 6 July 2005 · Chapter 5: Old Friend Monster

Why do I get the feeling Primula isn't going to like this?

Author's reply

That's an easy one to answer :) She didn't even like Frodo going to Bilbo and I doubt she would like a *huge* dwarf being so close to her little one. The tadpoles are certainly not easy to erase from Frodo's mind - and neither is the pond. Yet, Bilbo is stubborn too and the thought of tadpoles doesn't please him as much as his little cousin.

Larner · 6 July 2005 · Chapter 4: A Deliberate Mess

I recognize some of the story from another time, but didn't remember the "monster at the door" at the end of the chapter. Gotta be Gandalf or a Dwarf. Love it!

Larner · 6 July 2005 · Chapter 3: Breakfast for Two

Love the imagery here. Dear Frodo, wanting to make things right for Uncle Bilbo! Lovely.

Larner · 5 July 2005 · Chapter 2: Ponds and Tubs

Clean little Frodo now. I wonder when he'll begin excavating his own pond--for I do see it happening.

Larner · 5 July 2005 · Chapter 1: Things Arranged

Nice bonding time for our two very favorite Hobbits. And I wish Frodo could have brought his tadpoles, too. Remembering how many we brought into our house, it brings back fond memories.

Andrea · 4 July 2005 · Chapter 11: Farewells and Revelations

Drogo smiled contently, looking at his wife. "See, I told you that there was nothing to worry about when he is with Bilbo. The old hobbit loves him and looks after him as well as we would - even if there are dwarves and wizards." Dwarves and wizards will play an important role in Frodo's later life. It's as if Drogo had foresawn, what would happen in the future. Anyway, I just like stories where little Frodo is happy. Things will change rapidly- you know, what I mean ;-) And, of course, no chapter without tadpoles. I've waited for the tadpoles ;-) Thank you!

Author's reply

The tadpoles won't let go of me either. I think one day there might be another short tadpole-story with wee!Frodo :) Glad you enjoyed it!

Dreamflower · 4 July 2005 · Chapter 11: Farewells and Revelations

What a cute ending to this lovely little story! I can sympathize with poor overprotective Primula, LOL! What mother wouldn't be overprotective, with such a darling as wee!Frodo? Thank you for such a sweet story, that helps to explain the later bonds of love between Bilbo and Frodo.

Author's reply

I wouldn't let wee!Frodo out of my eye. :) Thanks a lot for reading, Dreamflower!

shirebound · 4 July 2005 · Chapter 11: Farewells and Revelations

He was sitting on Bilbo's lap, head resting against his uncle's breast, warm arms wrapped about him, holding him, protecting him. How I love snuggly moments like that, and happy, loved Frodo. What a wonderful story, Lily! I enjoyed every bit of it.

Author's reply

Thanks a lot, Janet!

Bodkin · 4 July 2005 · Chapter 11: Farewells and Revelations

Gandalf must have nerves of steel to resist Frodo's plea to stay a bit longer. And it's just as well Primula ends up thinking that Frodo is all right in Bilbo's care, because . . .

Author's reply

Nerves of steel or pressing news from outside the Shire. At least Primula already saw how well Bilbo could and will care for Frodo.

Desidera · 3 July 2005 · Chapter 10: Powerful Wizard

Awww!! That was so cute! Poor Frodo, I can imagine the shock this gave him! To think it was really a wizard's hat... *g* I loved how he started telling Gandalf about the tadpoles! He's so cute when he starts talking about his tadpoles and ponds and such. And of course imagining Frodo with that giant hat! *lol*

Author's reply

*hehe* The tadpoles won't let go of dear Frodo easily :)

Lily Baggins · 15 June 2005 · Chapter 10: Powerful Wizard

That chapter was just hysterical . . . and cute as anything. I've been meaning to review this story and have been lax, but I find it utterly charming.

Author's reply

Thanks a lot, Lily! Little Frodo captures everybody's heart. My, you should have seen my face when your mail arrived. First I feared I had reviewed myself last night when I had been supposed to sleep.

Andrea · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 10: Powerful Wizard

Haha! The tadpoles again :) Will he ever stop chattering about them? I see the possibility that Bilbo at last starts to raise them in Bag End's pool only to get his peace! "No more wizards," the child told his uncle leaning against him and wiping his eyes with Bilbo's jacket. "Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards!" Well, the old saying is true ;-)

Author's reply

The tadpoles will ever be on his mind. I wonder what he will do when the tadpoles turn into frogs and leave the Baggins' pond. Oh my, I already see the huge tears and the trembling lip!

Bodkin · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 10: Powerful Wizard

There's something about the image of Frodo disappearing beneath an oversized grey hat that is very appealing. And at least it stopped him asking questions!

Author's reply

There's something about the image of Frodo disappearing beneath an oversized grey hat that is very appealing. Indeed! :) I just couldn't get that image ouf of my mind.

shirebound · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 10: Powerful Wizard

Frodo is having the most amazing time at Bag End, isn't he? And how he'll have such a story to tell about the "evil" powers of a wizard's hat. I wonder how much of this adventure his parents will believe really happened to him? *grins* What an adorable chapter, Lily.

Author's reply

I wonder how much of this adventure his parents will believe really happened to him? I fear you will learn that all too soon. Young Frodo is such a delight to write!

Hobbit Lass21 · 30 April 2005 · Chapter 9: Another Guest

Yay for Gandalf!! He makes me ever so happy....I love Frodo's awe of him. Fabulous story, I shall be eagerly awaiting updates!

Hobbit Lass21 · 30 April 2005 · Chapter 8: The Long Way Home

"I want to tell you that I am not going to walk home today - or tomorrow - because walking is stupid and my feet would be very much obliged to you if they would not have to walk for at least a week." LOL!! I hate walking to, althoguh I would do it if I had too....you understand about those eyes quite well. Dangerously beautiful, they are. Frankly it's a wonder Frodo isn't hopelessly spoiled! But then, he's too sweet to become a brat....

Author's reply

I think his parents - at least Primula - know how to resist his eyes, but someone as "inexperienced" as Bilbo certainly has his problems in not spoiling Frodo. I certainly would spoil him :)

Hobbit Lass21 · 30 April 2005 · Chapter 7: Dwarven Tales And Dragons' Gold

'His eyes were speaking volumes promising his father the moon and everything that was beyond if only he allowed him his wish.' Hee hee, those lovely eyes! I'm positively insane over blue eyes now, can't resist them a bit! Frodo can be a bit muleheaded when he wants to be, hm?

Author's reply

No-one can resist those eyes :) They don't even have to be blue for me - they just need to show the feeling and compassion, the... well, light, I always see in Frodo's eyes when I think of him.

Hobbit Lass21 · 30 April 2005 · Chapter 6: Of Mice and Young Hobbits

"I'm beautiful enough," *giggles* I love that.... Aw, poor Frodo, getting his hand caught in a mousehole! Yay for Balin, I think he's my new best friend....*it occurs to her that Balin dies* Oh how sad...*sniff* Ah well, at least I get to see him with little Frodo. Hee hee, soft dwarf beardses.

Author's reply

Balin and Frodo are quite an unlikely pair, but I like to see them together - if only for Frodo's enjoyment in the dwarf.
