Pearl Took · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 27: An Egg of A Different Color (An Easter Story)

“You got these eggs from some strange duck that you don’t even know?” Pippin asked, narrowing his eyes. “Look, what do you expect, that I went up to the duck and introduced myself first?” Merry sighed. “Pardon me, you don’t know me, but my name is Meriadoc Brandybuck and I wonder if you might be inclined to lend me a few of these, delicious-looking brown duck eggs of yours?” He rolled his eyes at Pippin and waved the egg in his younger cousin’s face." Thank you for the wonderful Easter gift :) :)

Author's reply

You are most welcome. I hope you had a lovely Easter and I hope you had more luck with your colored eggs than Merry had with his. LOL

Pearl Took · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 26: Fire in the Hole!

Oh gosh, this was good!!! You took them right to the brink of their teasing Pippin turning sour, handling the whole thing perfectly!! Wonderful :)

Author's reply

Glad you liked it. They did tease him a bit too much before giving in, but then, that's older cousins for you. LOL Seems teaching Pip to smoke was going to be a bit more than they bargained for, wasn't it? Thank you for the review on this one.

good_one_pip · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 27: An Egg of A Different Color (An Easter Story)

What an idea! I've never really thought about eating different colored eggs in this light before. A very good Easter story;)

Author's reply

Thank you. I remember being surprised by brown eggs when I was small and so I thought other children might be. It was the only way that I could come up with to have colored eggs in Middle Earth. Thanks for reading!

good_one_pip · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 26: Fire in the Hole!

Hilarious! Sounds exactly like me with matches (only without the smoking part of course:)

Author's reply

Can you tell that I love slap-stick comedy from this one? LOL Glad that you enjoyed it!

good_one_pip · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 25: There are Friends and then there's Merry

Pip is so easily forgiving and almost too trusting! Even after a nasty trick like that, he was still over-willing to play with the same hobbits again. But as the title of the story goes, there's friends, then there's Merry. I have a best friend who I call "my Merry" and so quite a few of these stories remind me of our friendship.

Author's reply

Everyone should have that one special friend that they can count on no matter what. Pip is the trusting sort and is also trying hard to fit in with the older children so he does need Merry to look out for him. Thanks for the review!

good_one_pip · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 24: Through the Eyes of Another

You know, it's hard to picture Merry and Pip at the end of their lives. There are not many stories about there final jouney to the lands they fought so hard to defend in the War of the Ring. I like this one, although I didn't know where they were until it was flat out mentioned in the story. Very though-provoking and well-written.

Author's reply

Thank you. I wanted the reader to see them as they always were and be surprised once they realized their ages. I like to think of them as remaining the same in spirit even though they were much older. I am not too fond of the 'end of the road' tales where one of them has died or is dying. I prefer to think of them together on some adventure together. And also Tolkien does say that though he was 102, Merry was still hale, so I figured, why not? Thank you for reading.

SlightlyTookish · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 27: An Egg of A Different Color (An Easter Story)

What a delightful and funny story! I love Merry's growing exasperation and Pippin's constant questioning. Adorable :)

Author's reply

Merry did have his troubles explaining those silly duck eggs, didn't he? LOL Thank you for reading and for the lovely review!

Armariel · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 16: The Story of Poor, Unfortunate Toffin

Author's reply

Well, thank you for reading this and for leaving a review. So pleased that it made you laugh, because if Killer Chickens aren't funny, then what is?

Armariel · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 27: An Egg of A Different Color (An Easter Story)

Anso the Hobbit · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 27: An Egg of A Different Color (An Easter Story)

Lol! I enjoyed this very much!

Author's reply

Glad that you did. I do wonder if Merry found any colored eggs on his hunt, don't you? LOL

GamgeeFest · 26 March 2005 · Chapter 27: An Egg of A Different Color (An Easter Story)

LOL, poor Merry, always having to contend with Pippin's unquenchable curiosity. Frodo is wise not to ask any further questions. Cute as always, and Happy Easter to you GW. ^_^

Author's reply

Thanks for the review and I am glad that it made you laugh.

Dreamflower · 26 March 2005 · Chapter 27: An Egg of A Different Color (An Easter Story)

*snicker* Poor Merry can't win for losing when Pip gets in one of his whimsical moods, can he? Of course, I suppose that evens things out for when Merry gets inventive... (By the way: extra points for creativity. I wondered how you were going to do a story about colored eggs and still keep it grounded in M-e! Thanks to Pippin's twisted logic!)

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed this one. If I stay in my own odd little universe, then I do believe that I can manage to stay out of trouble, don't you. *smile* Pippin logic makes most things possible. I think that is one of his sweetest traits. Imagine, an entire basket of colored eggs! What will he think of next? LOL Thank you for all of the recent help and for reading this one.

Zah87 · 25 March 2005 · Chapter 26: Fire in the Hole!

The review i had left was for Chapter 27 but went into Chapter 26. But if you had to remove it Ch27 i totally understand or it could have been my mistake me reviewing for chapter 26 but i swear i had clicked onto ch27.

Zahz87 · 25 March 2005 · Chapter 26: Fire in the Hole!

Ummm that review i just left was gor Chapter 27 but Ch27 doesn't seem to be showing up??

Author's reply

I don't know which one that you read, but there is a problem with chapter 27 and I had to remove it. I don't know if it will be back up again or not. If you were reviewing "Fire in the Hole" that is actually chapter 26, but if you reviewed chapter 27 then I am a bit confused as I removed it yesterday morning at aroung 10am due to a problem with it. I unpublished it, but I may have to completely delet it if it is still showing up. Please let me know which one you read so that I can figure out what is going on. "Fire in the Hole" should be the last story in the group that is published. Thank you for reading and I am very sorry about the confusion.

Zahz87 · 25 March 2005 · Chapter 26: Fire in the Hole!

Really liked this chapter. Im just in awe about how you manage to write these chracter's so well. Keep up the good work!

Author's reply

Thank you! That is so nice of you to say. I am very pleased that you enjoyed this one.

Dreamflower · 24 March 2005

Poor Pip--waiting all those years to come of age, and suddenly, it hits him. I love the way Merry (and Sam) are willing to go the extra to talk a bit of sense into him. I imagine that Pippin's coming-of-age would have been another of those bittersweet times when Frodo would have been especially missed. This was a lovely story, with gentle humor. You do that just as well as you do the laugh riots.

Anso the Hobbit · 24 March 2005

Hobbits don`t like change and neither does Pippin. This was great!

Andrea · 24 March 2005

Thank you G.W. for another beautiful story! As a matter of fact, next week will be my 33rd birthday. Not in March, though, but in April. I can understand Pippin's fears, but I think, every adult should be allowed to behave like a child sometimes. That's what keeps us young and happy. Nobody is perfect. Pippin should know this ;-)

shirebound · 24 March 2005

I do miss Mister Frodo more than I can ever say, but I know that if he were here now, he’d not agree with you.” “How do you know?” Pippin asked, scowling. “Well, I don’t think he’d wish away all the life that’s come about in order to have the old one back,” Sam said. “I don’t think he’d wish away all those nieces of yours or my little ones either. Some changes are worth the trouble it takes. My old Gaffer always says that each day is a gift to us all and that when it’s gone we don’t get it back, but we do get another one after that if we’re lucky.” That's wonderful! What a sweet, loving story. You do write the most darling cousiny-tales!

Anso the Hobbit · 23 March 2005 · Chapter 26: Fire in the Hole!

Oh dear! Those lads really can`t do anything without causing disaster! It makes great reading though and this was excellent. Just lovely!

Author's reply

Glad that you enjoyed it. They do seem to have trouble doing things, don't they? But Pippin and fire seemed like something that might result in this type of thing. LOL Wonder how he lit those Beacons in the movie? I guess he got better, but even then he seems to spill the oil by accident and almost forget to climb down once the fire starts. Thanks for the review!

Saoirse · 21 March 2005 · Chapter 4: Bucket!

LOL. I had read this before but I saw it here again today and decided I just must read it again and leave a review for you. *laughs* I just love this, expecially the title 'Bucket!' (I don't know why but for some reason I am overly fond of any title that has an exclamation point in it). I could just picture little Pippin's voice echoing inside that bucket... aww and I felt so bad for him (while I was laughing) when the water was hitting it! The ending was perfect with Pippin asking Pearl if she wants to see him walk on his hands later, lol! So like Pippin to disregard all the turmoil in face of having some fun. I really liked your characterization of Pearl, and those of the rest of the bunch, great job! *chuckling*

Author's reply

I like titles written that way too as you can tell. Glad you enjoyed this enough to read it again and that you liked Pearl. Thanks for the review! (I have read "Kiss Me, I'm Tookish" several times already.)

pipinheart · 21 March 2005 · Chapter 26: Fire in the Hole!

Pippin learning to smoke a pipe...ALmost burned merry's hair to a crisp, burned Frodo's shirt, and tried to burn the smial sown. Accident prone... Very funny...

Author's reply

Glad it made you laugh and thank you for the review!

Larner · 20 March 2005 · Chapter 5: Here kitty, Kitty

Now it is poor Frodo! Having had doggie encounters with our momma skunk, I know how fun these can be.

Author's reply

Skunks are so sweet-looking but they can be so much trouble, can't they? I do hope there was a shire remedy for skunk smell or Frodo was most likely sleeping outside for quite a while.

Larner · 20 March 2005 · Chapter 4: Bucket!

And if he walks on his hands over that bucket again, what do you think will happen?

Author's reply

Interesting question. I think that Pearl might just kill him if he manages this a second time.

Larner · 20 March 2005 · Chapter 3: Merry's Doorway

Not a baby minder, is he? Ah, poor Merry.

Author's reply

Yes, no idea what he is in for yet. Thanks for reviewing.
