HTML tags, the things you have to put everywhere into a text to make it a HTML text, sorry, kind of a tautological non-explanation, but I'm really not able to explain something like that in English. And quite a lot of those are left in the text, for example after your signature:
"G.W. begun 03/09/2005 and finished on 06/29/2005
"
Perhaps you just can't see them - or perhaps you see all of them? - in writer modus, just have a look at it as a normal reader who is not a member *takes a deep breath* would ...
Thanks for your nice answer!
Author's reply
Thank you for your help. I can't see them at all when I click on the story to read it on the site as I would with another author's fiction and I also can't see them on the preview option when I am signed in and reading. I don't use them at all when I post because I have no clue how they work. I post using the copy and paste method. I write it all out on Microsoft Word and then copy it and paste it to the section where you post stories then I click to post it. I am sure there is a better way to post but I know very little about formatting as you have seen. LOL I will check again. Maybe I can get someone to help me out. I have a couple of friends that would be able to deal with the ins and outs of formatting.
Again, thank you for reading this and for the computer help.

A nice story...I like that Pippin came back for merry when the other's wouldn't... Merry told his father and prevented others from touching Maggots garden...After all he was protecting the Brandybuck name...
Nice read...

This was brilliant!! Poor Pippin--but we've all been there wanting to impress our friends. I thought you handled Merry's "thieving" very well. LOL...fainting like a lass! And Farmer Maggot was MUCH easier on Merry than he was with poor Frodo--ouch! I liked how you allowed Merry to see his erring ways through Maggot's expanation. I desperately tried to convey that in one of my wee tales; that niether of these lads "needed" to be stealing crops.
Awesome tale!

I know the story that you mean, it was the one I nominated for the MEFAs. I like that one. This one came about in response to Lindelea's bunny and her Beta really helped this one take shape. Strangely, it is the only crop stealing story that I have written and you would think that B&T would have been full of them by now. LOL Thanks for the review and for reading this one. I am glad that you liked it. It was fun filling in the gap concerning Maggot and Merry and their friendship.

I always wondered how Merry and Maggot knew each other.... I love Pippin so much! What a brave, loyal lad. Poor Merry...I bet he felt terrible. And to faint just makes it worse! Very good work! I thoroughly enojoyed this.
Author's reply
Thank you! Glad you liked it and thank you for reviewing. I did think that Merry would be almost as embarrassed about fainting as he would about stealing. LOL Glad you enjoyed Pippin in this. I think part of the reason that Pippin is such a great character is because he is so impulsive. He wouldn't think about the danger of hunting Merry down and helping him, only about helping Merry.

This is just wonderful, GW! I love how loyal and brave Pippin was, and how Merry took responsibility for his actions. I can see how Merry became a friend of Farmer Maggot's after this situation. All the details you included were just great too. I really liked the Maggot family. Great work! :)
Author's reply
I like to think that Pippin would have stood by Merry no matter what and that Merry would have done the same for him. I am glad that you think so too. I am sure that by the time Farmer Maggot spent a few weeks in Merry's and Pippin's company that they were all close friends. Thank you for the lovely review!

That's a wonderful fill-in story! Farmer Maggot shows himself to be a really very wise person, and he explains perfectly to Merry the long-term consequences of such thievery. Merry is so responsible, and Pip is so loyal! Lovely.

This would never have been written if you hadn't posted Lindelea's bunny to your site. It has taken a while to get it finished and posted, but I am glad to finally have Lindelea's bunny finished. I am so glad that you liked this one and I thank you for the review!

I love this GW; now I'd love to see your take on *Frodo's* raid, and have him and Merry *finally* compare notes on it all--maybe in Minas Tirith after the Quest, or some night in Hollin to relieve a tedious trek! Frodo must have been awfully young when he made his raid, as he moved to Bag End when he was 21.
I just adore your little Pippin. He is so open and sincere, and so determined to be with Merry. And there's just no resisting him when he sets out to be charming. And poor Merry with his guilty conscience and his sense of family pride is just wonderful.
And the Maggot family is wonderful, too! The old farmer's amusement at Merry's fainting was funny as could be.
You have another winner, here!
Author's reply
Thank you. The bunny was Lindelea's and I am glad that she put it up for adoption. She also managed to Beta a corn field completely out of this story. LOL Pippin is determined to stick close to Merry and that is for certain. I enjoyed writing this one and it really should have been posted long before this but things kept getting in the way. I see that you are trying to send me another bunny with Frodo and I do wonder if I could feed that one too. Might make a great companion piece to this one. I will have to see if that bunny sticks around and grows or if it just runs off into the garden. LOL

I really enjoyed this Grey Wonderer. An impulsive Merry that we only catch glimpses of in his later adventures. And a wonderful explanation of why Bombadil has high regard for Farmer Maggot. I love your Pippin. "I came to find Merry because it was all they would let me do." Great stuff.
Author's reply
Thank you! I think there is even more tale to tell in regard to Bombadil's respect for farmer Maggot. There had to be a reason for it. Makes me wonder if Tom and Maggot ever met.

Goody, a raiding story with a moral for once. Have never liked stealing portrayed as "just a bit of fun". Merry and Pippin are very much in character and Farmer Maggot even more so, he really is quite a wise hobbit. But could you please do something about all those tags left in and the formatting?! Thank you.
Author's reply
Glad you liked this one and thank you for the lovely review. I do like to think that the hobbits weren't encouraged to steal and that it was frowned upon. As to the formatting, I did have trouble getting this to post properly, but I am confused about one thing. What are 'tags'? My computer skills are limited and so I looked at the posting but wasn't sure what I was looking to correct. LOL

Oh, a wonderful description of how Pippin and Merry came to respect Farmer Maggot, and a good explanation as to why Tom Bombadil described the Farmer as being particularly wise. Much better than the stories in which I'd read Maggot had beaten Frodo badly or had kept truly vicious dogs intent on hurting the raiders. Very, very well written.
Author's reply
Thank you. I am very glad that you liked it and you may credit the well-written part to my Beta on this one, Lindelea. She was a great help and the bunny was hers. I like to think that Maggot was less hard on Frodo than Frodo might have thought. I believe that much of Frodo's description of events was colored by his fear of the dogs and his young age at the time of his adventure with the farmer.

“How do you know what I want at this very minute?” Pippin demanded, a bit hoarsely. “How do you know that I don’t want to get chilled to the very bone right now? I may want to just swing the door wide open and stand in front of the winter breeze until my ears freeze off and my feet turn to ice.”
ROTFL!! Oh, my gosh....how lovely!!! Makes me want to give those lovable lads a tender hug. You have a most wonderful world of hobbits. Thank you for sharing it!

Oh my, GW, you do know how to write Merry and Pippin so well. I love all their little conversations and this one tops them all. Poor, wise older hobbit stuck with a twit of a younger cousin, lol. Pippin wasn't fooled though - er, except for getting into bed.

*snickering* This sounds so very true to life!
“You say unimportant things nearly every time you open your mouth and I don’t question why you are doing it,” Merry said. “Do me the same courtesy, will you?”
Pippin glared at him, coughed again, and moved over closer to the fireplace to stand, his arms still wrapped about his chest. “I wasn’t aware that we were being courteous,” Pippin said, stiffly. “I do beg your pardon.”
You have such a wonderful way with dialogue.
Thanks for a great read, this morning.
Author's reply
Thank you so much. I talk almost as much as Pippin does so naturally, my characters have a lot to say. It's the descriptive phrases that I fall short on. If no one is talking, then I have no clue what to do with them. LOL Glad you enjoyed it and have a terrific weekend!

O, GW!
'“You say unimportant things nearly every time you open your mouth and I don’t question why you are doing it,” Merry said. ' You sleigh me! ..bwhahahahaha!!
What a sweet, loving, they-know-every-single-thing-about-each-other story! Their gentle diatribe is very in character and the insight Pippin offers in the end about how he is growing up shows that he really *is* growing up. The fact that Merry seems to consider it and then dismisses the idea shows that he realizes that Pippin is getting older -- but also that he often still needs to be steered into the right direction (although he may not think so) like many irrepresible tweens.
Great story! Keep it up! :)
Author's reply
So, you got a laugh or two out of this one, did you? Glad to hear it. I just can't help but write Merry just a bit sarcastic and I've no idea why. They do know one another extremely well, but I do think that Pippin will have a hard time convincing Merry that he no longer needs looking after, even once it is true. Thanks for the review!

As Merry left the room, he heard Pippin mutter, “You practice entirely too much, Merry.” LOL!
And he will continue to practice, as long as possible! That's our Merry! I like that hobbit and his little idiot of a cousin, too ;-)

What a sweet, lovely story! The Merry-Pippin relationship is touching and true without being sugary. Very nice!
One small punctuation thing: You don't need commas before adverbs, e.g. "he said gently."

I write them like a couple of eighteen-year-old males. LOL Guys will say anything to each other and there is rarely any perminate offense taken. Somehow, the phrase, 'you stubborn twit' can become an endearment in their world. Thanks so much for encouraging my little stories and I am glad that you enjoy them.
