And of course, Pippin had his own wisdom. How lovely and bittersweet, this last parting between the young Took and the Wizard. I've always thought there was a deep bond of love there, and you show it so well. Thank you for all these little gems.

Author's reply

I agree, I think there was a deep bond between them, and it's one of the things I thought they captured perfectly in the last movie. Thank you so much for all of your lovely comments, and for reading!

Dreamflower · 11 August 2004 · Chapter 6: Dear Bilbo

LOL! And I can just bet Gandalf gave it to the old fellow, and he had a hearty chuckle, and perhaps a homesick tear, over it, and kept it after, perhaps folded up next to his pipe in his pocket, next to his heart.

Author's reply

Oh, that's a lovely image! I like to think of him showing Pippin the letter when the hobbits reached Rivendell :)

Dreamflower · 11 August 2004 · Chapter 5: Athelas

Oh what a beautiful image: "Home itself here with him, holding his hand." Sniff. So sweet.

And, as we know, Pip is right. The Forest is not evil, though it has pockets of it here and there, but it is perilous. How fortunate that they encounter Treebeard.

Dreamflower · 11 August 2004 · Chapter 3: The Road Goes Ever On

How sad and how sweet, as these two go to spend their last days with what remains of their *other* family: Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. Beautifully done.

It was a long time before I could even bear to think about such things as Merry and Pippin going on their last journey together! This was my first drabble. *blushes* Thank you! :)

Dreamflower · 11 August 2004 · Chapter 2: Peace

I think of the four, Pippin felt the most pride in what they had accomplished. You show that well.

Author's reply

That's a really interesting point. I hadn't thought of it before, but I definitely agree! I suppose a lot of his pride comes from serving Gondor, and for what his cousins achieved.

Dreamflower · 11 August 2004 · Chapter 1: Happily Ever Afterwards

One of the missing scenes: Pippin and Merry first encounter Bilbo in Rivendell. I love your take on it. Very sweet.

Author's reply

Thank you. I don't know why, but this is one of my favourites :)

Dreamflower · 11 August 2004 · Chapter 0: At Breakfast

Oh, I loved this little scene in the book! It's one of the last times we see Pippin being so childlike; yet we know that his innocence is a facade, since he is already one of the conspirators, and probably worried. And Frodo, so sad at losing, as he thinks, his dearest kin.

Author's reply

Until I read a ficlet about it recently, I hadn't thought much about Pippin's point of view in this scene (surprisingly, for me), but the contrast is striking isn't it? I just feel very sad for Frodo thinking that he's bearing this burden all alone, and I love that moment in Crickhollow when he's so relieved to find that they're coming with him, and that it's a decision taken off his shoulders.

WHERE do you keep coming up with these jewels? I absolutely *love* this snippit of Pippin/Gandalf saying goodbye. *happy sigh*

Author's reply

Thank you, Pips! The bunnies bite hardest when I'm meant to be doing other things, and I couldn't resist this one :)

TopazTook · 13 July 2004 · Chapter 4: Positive Thinking

Oh, I like this one! Good depiction of a character (Pippin) through another characters eyes, while remaining true to form for Merry, also. Humor and angst in the same breath -- and all in so few words.

Author's reply

Thank you very much! I'm so glad you thought this worked. These are my first experiments with drabbles, and I still find it hard to be concise, lol. Thanks again :)

PIppinfan1988 · 11 July 2004 · Chapter 3: The Road Goes Ever On

What lovely drabbles, Pipwise. Insightful, detailed, and sprinkled with a bit of angst. Thank you for sharing! Pippinfan

Thank you so much for reading them! I really appreciate all your lovely comments and encouragement - thank you :)

PIppinfan1988 · 11 July 2004 · Chapter 2: Peace

Beautiful, Pipwise! Kudos to you and shirebound on this one! The detail in Pippin's hand movement, to Aragorn's reflections are a finely crafted piece of art. :-) Pippinfan

PIppinfan1988 · 11 July 2004 · Chapter 1: Happily Ever Afterwards

So brief these are, but so profound. You take a small dab of the book and expound into his thoughts. Very nice! btw...did I tell you that it's okay to be Pippin-centric? ;-) Pippinfan

Author's reply

Thank you, Pippinfan! And it's okay to be Pippin-centric? *sighs with relief* That's all right then. I can't think of any other kind of -centric that I would want to be! Lol :)

PIppinfan1988 · 11 July 2004 · Chapter 0: At Breakfast

Oh! I recognized this scene from the book! I loved this scene, too. Very nice drabble, I might add! :-) Pippinfan
