Very nice! :) The love between Merry and Estella is apparent and it's a very nice picture seeing Merry with his new lass. :)
Author's reply
Thank you Anso! I'm so glad you enjoyed your story! Merry is very proud of his daughter, and very grateful for his wife. They are such a loving couple, it's so easy to write them. :)

There shouldn’t be an Elanor without a Niphredil, so far as he was concerned.
Beautiful! And they made a wise decision. For all children should have the chance to grow up with both their parents around!
Author's reply
Thank you! Though I think Estella was more concerned with avoiding confusion, there is no doubt that Niphredil is a lovely name for their little lass. I can see her and Elanor becoming close friends. And while Estella may still want children, she won't risk it if the healers warn against it. She does always have grandchildren to look forward to. ;)

What an awful scare for the two of them. And what a beautiful name to come up with. I had to smile. My parents named my brother Bryan and, less the three months later, my Aunt and Uncle named their new baby Bryn. My parents have always thought that they played copy cat but as my Uncle is Welsh I think that Bryn is only proper.
Author's reply
They are both breathing sighs of relief, and Estella is taking just as much comfort from Merry as he is from her. I had given Pippin a daughted named Athelas. It only seemed proper to give Merry and Estella their own elf-flower.
Names can be a tricky business. There are so many Bobbys, Michaels, and Roberts in my family, it's ridiculous. I don't blame Estella for wanting her children to have unique names. Less confusing, if nothing else.

Great drabble!
Maybe, everything had turned upside-down, but Rosie's love for Sam (and vice versa, of course) will last forever :)
Author's reply
Thank you, dear! Some things have certainly changed, but the love between Sam and Rose is a constant that will only grow stronger with the years. Thanks for reading!

Oh, this is beautiful and perfect! And you know I love Niphredil for one of Merry's daughters--it just seems perfect!
And I like Merry's logic: there shouldn't be an Elanor without a Niphredil.
Merry's worry is very realistic. I'm glad Estella did not argue with him about it--even if she does really still want another child, it's not the time to talk about it.
And the ending was so sweet. *sigh*
Author's reply
Thank you, DF! Well, I gave Pippin a lass name Athelas. It only seemed right that Merry have an elf-flower of his own. I imagine that the three became very close friends, just as their fathers and Frodo had been.
Merry does tend to fret. He won't be letting Estella lift so much as a finger until the healers deem her whole enough. Estella better prepare to be pampered! I believe she does still want more children, but they will both be happy with their little family as it is. She can always look forward to grandchildren. ;)

What a heartwarming, lovely story, though the worry for Estella adds a pinch of tension. I loved the last scene, with the two of them nestled together.

Merry is counting his blessings tonight, many of them involving his lovely wife. Thank you so much for reading! :)

Ah, what I'd give for one of his lectures myself! She has the best husband she could have, and she knows it! Wonderful!
Author's reply
I doubt Merry hands out massages with all his lectures, but I'm sure Estella will put in a good word for you once she's been satisfied with her own lecture. ;) Merry is a wonderful and attentive husband. She is a lucky lass.

As always, PERFECT, GF! Yes, perfect! It was too long a-coming!
Author's reply
Thank you, Larner! It was a long-time coming. From Rosie's POV, she's been waiting since she came of age. From Sam's, he's been waiting for the right time to ask since returning in November! But he'll make it up to her. ;)

It is nice to see a more 'forward' Rosie.
Author's reply
I do think Rosie is a very straighforward type of lass. More importantly, she's practical enough to realize that if she wants to be asked, she's going to have to stop waiting on tradition and make the first move. She was well rewarded. ;)

OTP! OTP! OTP! (*realizes she's waking up the net and shuts up*)
This was adorable. Considering it took from November to May for them to actually get married, I imagine Sam must have been a little hard to push out the door. *sigh* Good for Rosie to stand up and take the initiative, after all this time!
Author's reply
*Googles OTP* Ahhh! :D (I'm so horrible with all those abbreviations.)
Thank you so much! Well, I do think that Sam was quite busy and certainly had a viable excuse for postponing it for so long. Rosie, however, has different ideas in this matter. ;) If Sam's not going to ask, then she will! :D

Rosie figured she has waited long enough. If she wanted that proposal, she was going to have to take matters into her own hands. :) Sam picked up on the hint rather quickly. :D Thanks for reading!

aww how sweet! It's funny how you had ROsie ask Sam to marry her, to remind him that it's time. ;) =)

Rosie doesn't drop hints; she drops anvils. ;) She has waited more than long enough to hear the question. Sometimes, a lass has to take matters into her own hands. I'm glad you enjoyed this, Peri!

Awww.
I always did wonder about this; I thought it would be rather silly of Rosie to not at least ask where he'd been. =) I like this version.

Ah! So THAT'S what happened to Sam's hat! Nicely done.
And they do need to understand at least some. Sam is recovering, but Frodo doesn't--not quite.
And they need this time together to find themselves with each other.
Nicely gentle!
Author's reply
Indeed. ;) I do see that as being the most likely place his beloved hat would have been lost. Not that anyone is grieving its loss!
Yes, they do need to understand, or at least be told. They won't ever be able to truly understand, but knowledge of what happened can help them to begin accepting the changes that they see and begin to know each other again.

That was a really nice gap-filler, and I have to agree with Periantari that there are not enough of them about Sam and Rose! Thanks!

There does need to be more fics about Sam and Rosie. Tolkien equates their love as equal to Aragorn and Arwen, and that's saying quite a lot about our two gentle Hobbits. Thanks for reading!

· Chapter 30: Sam's Hat
What a great story to have an appropriate gap-filler dialogue between Rosie and Sam-- i think those stories are really missing from fandom. I'm glad you got to explain about the missing hat and i really enjoyed the description of the difference of Sam's Quest pre and post-Quest-- that is a very subtle thing to add but i'm glad you added this detail.
Nice fic! I need to read your Yule fic too. :)
Author's reply
Thank you Peri! Rosie and Sam would have had this talk at some point, you just know it. The changes in Sam are so obvious in the last few chapters of the book, and while we saw those changes happen, they would seem rather abrupt to Rosie and the others. They need their time to talk and get to know each other again. I thin the Quest would have changed Sam physically as well and it's the most immediate way of seeing those inner changes. It would just make Sam seem all the more foreign to them. Thanks for reading!

· Chapter 30: Sam's Hat
I love it! Sam is right to fear telling Rose all the darkness in the winter - even Gandalf wanted until morning to tell Frodo about the Ring - and I love that part and how Rose notices that they've all changed. But what is just so adorable and innocent is that all Rose is worried about it is that hat - very typical of a lass - and how healing for Sam to laugh about it! Very well done!
Now he has to tell Frodo so Frodo can laugh. :)
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Rosie worked hard on that hat. And after all, Sam did manage to keep hold of his cookware even into the heart of Mordor! :P It's much longer to wait for spring than morning though, so Rosie insisted and she was right to do so. Better to get it out right away.
I'm sure Frodo will get a good laugh from this. :D
Thanks for reading!

· Chapter 30: Sam's Hat
That was so hobbity and so wonderful. I loved Rose's insistance that someone could have found the hat and kept up with it but I really liked this line, "I need to know, so that I’ll know you again,” Rosie persisted." I think that is just about perfect in describing how she must have felt when he returned.
Now you have me wondering if somewhere they is a well dressed barrow wright in Sam's hat or perhaps Tom is keeping it in case Sam ever returns for it. LOL
Author's reply
Rosie probably should have sewn the hat onto Sam's travel cloak! Not that it would have done any good. She'll just have to get busy making him another one - hopefully one more closely resembling a wizard's hat. ;)
Sam and Rosie both need to relearn each other. They would have changed much during their year apart, though they wouldn't notice it for themselves. Rosie probably didn't even blink over how quickly she packed that picnic.
I think everyone else is silently happy that the hat disappeared into the barrows. lol! I think Tom would keep it for himself, or maybe give it to Fatty Lumpkin. ;)
