Lovely story! I love your vivid imagery, and the conversations sound so real and natural. You have a real gift for dialogue.
Author's reply
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed this! It was an interesting topic to think about. I'm more comfortable writing Elves now than I used to be, but I do still worry about it. Glad it sounded authentic to you!

Very nice scene GF! I enjoyed the Aragorn care for both hobbits. :) I liked Frodo's question too about "how does it feel to be king".
Little in stature they might be, but their spirits were greater than the mightiest of warriors.
I agree whole-heartedly. :)
Author's reply
Aragorn is most attentive of his two dearest friends. :) It was fun to give them this time to catch up with each other and just relax. :) Glad you enjoyed this, dear!

What a sweet story! And they are merry which is even better! Love the teasing, esp. Aragorn's response about not doing worse and Sam's giggle to Frodo's words and that they 'tattle tale' on each other's ills, protective of each other still.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Frodo has plenty of time to brood, lol. Cormallen is, to me, probably the last time he was truly happy, at least while he remained in Middle-earth. So he, and Sam, would naturally be in full hobbity-mode, even if they are tired from their ordeals. It's just fun to see them relaxed and enjoying the company of a dear friend.
Thanks for reading!

You meant 'flora', not 'fauna', when describing medicinal plants. And, what is a 'brock'?
Yes, I like the story of the camping trip. Very realistic, really. I like ALL your stories!
Author's reply
Thanks, Lynn! Well try to remember that for next time. :) A brock is a badger, nasty little creatures which, as Fam found out, you don't want to make angry. :D
It's been quite a while since I've been camping. I think it's funner to write about. heh!
Thank you, dear! So glad you enjoyed this (and others!) *hugs*

Good to see them recovering, even if they must rest a good deal now!

On the mend, but I do think they would have had a LOT of r&r to catch up on, despite their two-week slumber. Thanks for reading!

I am glad that both Hobbits had this one as a friend here, then! Thank you. And love to see the Light of Being in both of the Hobbits, made clearer by Varda's care for both.
Author's reply
The hobbits were lucky indeed when they crossed paths with Gildor's group. I've always thought Sam should have his own light, for surely he is just as special and unique as Frodo. I'm glad you enjoyed this!

Oh, but I do love this! Yes, both Smeagol and Gollum needed the most basic of forgiveness--of themself! Hooray!
Author's reply
I don't know if Gollum was ever capable of forgiveness, but it was Smeagol who was to be saved and he proved himself worthy. He can be one and whole again at last.

Loved this; just perfect: “You’ll do all right,” Sam said.
Enjoyed this story and actually wished it was a bit longer. I'm always up for a bit of h/c and I could read reams about Frodo and Sam putting up a brave front despite feeling the full physical and emotional after effects of their actions that led to the destruction of the ring.
Author's reply
Sam does have a knack for getting right to the heart of things. ;) It's always fun to allows these two to be hobbits and tease and joke, all the while looking out for each other. I can imagine after all they've been through, they'd be exhausted and in need of much rest.
Thanks for reading! Glad you enjoyed it!

Oh, this was wonderful! *Hugs* I love how you created such a thoroughly entertaining and much different story from my tale. Loved the hairless cat, too, and the mention of Queen Beruthiel's cats, a tale which I am really intrigued by. My story "Cat of a different colour" touches on the queen and her cohorts and I've been enchanted by the idea ever since discovering it, so I was really delighted to see how you use it here. Thank you so very much, I loved it!! I intend to respond to the story at the group's LJ as well, and apologise for not having yet done so but I have been having some difficulty with that site the last few days as it is playing up a bit, as you probably have heard on group. Anyway, I've read this twice and I'm finding new bits to be excited about each time I do! Thanks again!!!
Author's reply
*hugs* You're most welcome, dear! I'm so glad you enjoyed your remix! "Like Father, Like Son" just jumped out at me. It was so endearing and I had fun figuring out how to fit it into my own universe. Queen Beruthiel is an interesting legend. I had no intention of tying it with the hairless cats when I first wrote of them, but it served such a perfect link between Gondor and Harad for "Distractions".
LJ has been very temperamental lately. Even when you do get in, it freezes half the time. *sighs*

LOL! Like father like son, indeed!
Pippin was the one who first mentioned the hairless cat. So, he's partially responsible for what happened in the night ;-)
Like Pippin I would like to know more about a certain Rohirrim soldier and his Haradrim wife. Maybe Sam can tell us after his return :-)
Author's reply
Well, Pippin *did* tell him that there are no hairless cats in the Shire. Faramir really should have known better. ;) Of course, he's impulsive, like his father, so putting that idea in his head obviously wasn't the best idea. :D
I'm sure Sam will return with all sorts of tales to tell. :)

Beautiful!
Elbereth smiled upon him still.
Faeglin is right. Sam is too humble to see that he did many great deeds during and after the quest.
His greatest deed was the constant help he was to Frodo by never leaving his side (except one time and that was when he thought him dead)!
But Elbereth did not change his character. She sharpened his senses instead. And so it is still the same little gardener who greets Faeglin on Tol Erresëa.
Author's reply
Sam's humbleness is one of his many fine qualities, and is what makes him worthy of this gift. It would have served him well long beyond the Quest. It would not have changed him, just made him more aware of his surroundings.
Thanks for reading!

A lovely sweet story! The quote from Ithilien is my favorite from Book IV. Sam was given different grace than Frodo was, in keeping with his vocation of looking after his beloved treasure, and his openness to the spiritual realm is seen in the visions he had of his master throughout the Quest. Frodo was just as attuned but differently.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Sam certainly did need to see more than the average hobbit, and he proved he was more than capable of using the gift given him, just as Frodo was.

And which is image and which reality, eh? Delightful! Poor Pippin, with the thought that only if someone is writing about him will he have reality! And all us little writers following along in the Master's wake, making certain he has LOTS of reality to experience!
Thanks for a delightful giggle!

PIppin will never have to fear fading away. There are plenty of writers willing to give him all kinds of things to do! :D

Also, we're far too cute and adorable to get rid of us.
Yes! Definitely!

ROTFL!!!!!!!!!! *oh mercy!* Talk about Meta! I love this!!
"I can't say that I do. If you know what you want to write about then just write about it and have done."
"Which is why your letters are approximately two sentences long, if that."
"I get to the point. Is there anything so wrong with that?"
"For letters, I suppose not. This is a book, it's different."
LOL! That's our Pippin! And then he promptly starts whining about not being whiny!
"What if there's someone else out there, a master author if you will, in a much larger study with a much larger book and quill, making all this up and I am really just pretending to write what he's already written. So you see, I really have nothing to do with any of it."
*nods* Good thinking Frodo! But what if the master author is in another universe and in THAT one he's making you up, but in the one where YOU live, you are making HIM up?
"What am I supposed to do with myself if I don't really exist! I'm just supposed to wait around for someone to decide to write for me to do something!"
Oh, Pippin! You don't have to worry about that. There are thousands of writers writing so many things for you to do that you should be all worn out!
" I mean, how could one person make up all of Middle-earth?!"
Excellent question! I've often wondered about that myself!
Great job, GF!
Author's reply
:D Our lads certainly are an entertaining bunch, aren't they? What will they think of next?
If people could see some of the things people write him doing, I'm certain he wouldn't complain so much - though it might bring on another whining fit. :P
