This chapter is correlated with the book somehow, on how Frodo let Saruman go. A nice touch! I'm curious on how things turn out to be though. Might the ex wizard also be killed in the end?

Great chapter. I love the relationships between all the hobbits. Poor Elrond surronded by stubborn patients.

I've been really enjoying this. I love Frodo's insistence on getting his clothes, as if he was strong enough to make an escape from his bed even if he was fully dressed! He really is such a gentle, forgiving soul to be able to set Saruman free after the harm that was done to him and his loved ones.

Whew! As I was reading--and loving each line--I was thinking that this would be the last chapter! What can I say? I love my Pippin and Merry--and of course, all of my little hobbits! Thanks for another wonderful chapter!

p.s. I won't say that I'll see you in chapter "8" again! :-o

Frodo is awfully coniving, isn't he? And stubborn to boot. Poor Hobbit can't even lift himself up and he's wanting to walk around on his own. And even though he never said that, we all know that's why he wants his clothes.
I love how you can combine the fluffiest of fluff with serious plot points. It seems to make the chapters somehow more enjoyable. If I had to hazard a guess as to why, I would have to say that it balances out the chapters, somehow making them easier to read and more enjoyable. Does that make any sense?
Oh, and I love the last image you leave us with, of Frodo, Pippin, and Elladan all sleeping in a row. Kinda like a Hobbitpile, but not. And I know that didn't make any sense. :)
Wonderful chapter, once again. :)

There really seems to be something quite elf-like about hobbits - maybe like humans and gorillas, there is a common origin. I look forward to more of this.

I never thought of Merry's dreams like that. Interesting. I wish Elrond, Celeborn, Gandalf and all the other healers the best of luck when it comes to trying to keep Pippin in bed.

“I’ll tell you in exchange for some clothes,” Frodo persisted. “How about it?”
Another review for you on this one, just because I enjoy it so much! I just have to say how much I love this line. It just crackles with hobbity fun and Frodo-ness -- he can hardly sit up but still wants his clothes!
And, on the subject of clothes . . . I love a woozy Frodo as much as the next fic reader, but I don't entirely agree with the constantly-changing-nightshirt aspect. Seems to me that, what with the, er, very basic laundry services available, most sick hobbits would be in their skin, or maybe just in their drawers, while sick in bed. All this changing of nightshirts seems like a lot of unnecessary activity . . . I know it's kind of fun for us, but really, isn't bare skin fun too?
Anyway, thanks for the awesome read, and I hope you keep it up for another 20 chapters or so! I am just loving being back with all my LOTR friends!

Oh, I liked this chapter. Hobbits and an elf sleeping in the sun, what a sweet picture.
Frodo and Pippin are both so stuborn. Thank goodnes, actually, even though it can make dealing with them when they're sick a bit tricky.
Nice bit with Merry's abilities. I hadn't thought of his dream as being a foreshadowing of Isenguard. Very cool.
As for the writing, it's coming slowly, only five pages so far. The last week has been crazy with all the things that come at the end of the school year--my daughter's, not mine. Oh, to be that young again myself. Wait, maybe not.
Looking forward to what comes next in this story. And yes, the comfort part has been wonderful.
Connie.

You've given me some food for thought (again!) in this chapter -- on two topics: Merry's dream at Bombadil's house and the implications of Frodo's seeing Gandalf's ring (which reminds us of his ability to see Galadriel's ring after he looked in the mirror). I love it when fics (and their authors) give me something to mull over. Thank you!

I have only one thing to say: brilliant minds think alike. Oh, yes, and I like the though of Frodo trying to keep Pippin in bed while he's just as weak. That would be hilarious!

Glad to see another chapter of this. Do I even need to say that?
Hobbits plotting escape from their beds! Hurrah!
Tying Tooks to their beds, scandalous! Haven't they heard of sitting on them?
Sam looked at Merry. “Do you know what he’s talkin’ about?”
“Hardly ever,” Merry sighed.
***Nice scrap of conversation, good for a chuckle
“We would hardly want your life to be boring,” Frodo replied.
***The ease of old friends...
“Intolerably stubborn,” Elrond grumbled. “I am greatly tempted to hide Frodo’s clothes, assign a full-time guard to Pippin, and remind my son that while immortal, he is not invulnerable.” He sighed.
***Ah, the trials and travails of being a healer...
The picture of all three invalids, asleep together. Elladan really ought to be adopted as an honorary hobbit.
And "TBC" hoorah! The story goes ever on (or at least, we wish it would)

“Not precisely,” Gandalf said thoughtfully. “The gift of recalling someone from the brink of death may be unique to Aragorn . . . .
I am really enjoying the story! I feel like we are all romping in a brand-new field. This is a whole new vector of the LOTR experience while still being true to canon. Thank you! And thanks for the lovely, delicious, soothing, heartfelt H/C! Keep that stuff coming strong!
I like the reference to Aragorn very much. Sometimes I feel like his courage and heroic heart gets overlooked, what with all the fun and charm of hobbits, elves, etc. He really is a tremendous man and needs to be honored for the way that he poured out his life, and made so many personal sacrifices, for the sake of Middle Earth.
shirebound, may you write forever! I'll be here reading! Thanks again!

Everyone on the mend and Frodo in good spirits. That's good to see and I loved the image of all three of the invalids sleeping together in the sunshine.
I'm glad you kept Frodo's reaction to Saruman the same as the book. That dear hobbit has seen too much death and destruction. And knows too well that however strong, there is always someone or something stronger than you are.

Shirebound, you really out did yourself on this chapter. I love the way that you tie it all back to cannon with that line from the books mirroring Frodo's decision. That's our merciful Frodo. We could all take a lesson from him. It was (in my opinion), his greatest asset (his merciful nature).
Oh - and thank you for taking such good care of him when he's still weak and sick! Ummmmm! Warm sunshine and blankets! Does it get any yummier? I don't think so!
Blessings!

Oh Shirebound - what a WONDERFUL chapter - you have me laughing at several points!
And you simply MUST write about in greater detail Gandalf's stay with the Lothlorien Elves after Gwaihir brought him there for healing!
Again, great chapter and I anxiously await the nexx one!

Frodo was able to resist Saruman because he had learned to resist the Ring in the same manner. My beloved Frodo is always so very strong, though he actually is still very ill. What a noble creature!
