And she stood then as still as a white tree, looking into the West, and at last she said: "I will cleave to you, Dúnadan, and turn from the Twilight. Yet there lies the land of my people and the long home of all my kin." She loved her father dearly. When Elrond learned the choice of his daughter, he was silent, though his heart was grieved and found the doom long feared none the easier to endure.

The Hands of the Healer by Lily Fairbairn
After the battle of the Pelennor Fields, Aragorn goes to the Houses of Healing, not only out of a sense of duty to the wounded, but to answer a question that has gnawed at him for many years. Alternate Universe. The story is founded on canon, but has moments referring to the movie-verse -- even though in the movie-verse Faramir, Aragorn, and Denethor don't resemble each other as much as in the books. Author's Note: This story was inspired by a casual remark of a non-book-reading friend. She said that one line she did NOT expect to see in the movie of Return of the King was Aragorn saying, "Faramir, I am your father."
