At least they go with Elrond's blessing and not following behind in secret. Wonderful!

Author Reply: Yeah! It's much better this way. =)

I love the inclusion of Radbook's influence in this story. And having Aragorn as their guardian is appropriate. Glad they're all learning riding skills as well.

Author Reply: I agree. And I hope that at some point, Radbook will come across this story, and that the administrators will permit her to post hers here!

I'm glad that Gandalf found a way to use his own ring to strengthen Kaylee. And they're right--Jennifer, too, would do well to receive some training with a weapon, not just the boys.

Author Reply: I am glad, too, and I agree with you about Jennifer.

I agree--Kaylee is likely to be most unhappy. And I hope those Bible verses do indeed come in handy.

Author Reply: Yeah, you're not kidding! And the Bible verses will help considerably.

That's nice of Pippin and Merry to write letters to their parents no matter how short they are. When I read the books I always thought their parents must be out of their minds with worry that their sons just vanished along with Frodo and
Sam. I feel better now because this is a neat solution.

Author Reply: Yeah, you're not kidding! Especially Pippin's parents, since he's underage. At least, in our story, Dreamflower and I are able to provide a solution to that problem.

Oh, KathyG and Dreamflower, I loved this chapter! I got the reference in the title and now I'm humming the song to myself *giggles*

I also recognized the scene from Dreamflower's original In The Frying Pan, and I'm glad it got used here! I really liked that!

Author Reply: Thanks! I'm glad you like that, and so does Dreamflower, I know.

Ah! So Eru made it so they spoke Westron. I thought it must be something like that. :) I'm definitely glad they're able to communicate with the people of Middle-earth - this journey would be no use if they couldn't do that.

I'm so glad Arwen and her ladies will look after Kaylee, and Aragorn will be as a father to the older children while they're gone. Better Aragorn than Gandalf, considering what (probably) will happen to him...oh, now I've got myself wondering what will happen to the kids in Moria. I can't get ahead of myself! *shudders at the thought, though*

I'm so excited for more of this story!

Author Reply: I'm glad to hear that! Well, you'll find out. And when you think about it, their transport to Middle-earth was quite literally an act of God, and their ability to communicate with the people there would be another. And yes, they do need to be able to do that, at least verbally.

Poor little Kaylee! I'm so glad Gandalf was able to comfort her. I'm still wondering what part the four McCloud children, and especially Kaylee (and Lucy) who must stay behind.

It seems Boromir's going to be giving the young hobbits *and* Kevin and Joey (and Jennifer?) weapons training. I found myself wondering if the kids will think of the armor as "the armor of God", which it kind of is, isn't it? This is all so exciting!

Author Reply: Hmm. That's something to consider!

And it's fortunate that Gandalf was on hand to comfort Kaylee.

Author Reply: Yep, it sure is! Kaylee is going to be kept busy while her siblings are gone, so she won't have time to pine for them too much.

Hmm. The armor of God! That's something to consider, isn't it? =)

Ooooh. Poor Jennifer, having to deal with THAT. *hugs her* At least Arwen knows what to do! (And maybe Arwen will give her a supply of that herb for the journey, when they find out they're going!)

And Kaylee has to stay behind - well, that's fair, she is only little, but I wonder what her part to play in Imladris will be! Hopefully she'll keep Lucy with her, at least.

I love this story so, so very much! *hugs KathyG and Dreamflower*

Author Reply: Thank you! Dreamflower and I are glad that you're enjoying it.

And yeah, it's fortunate that Jennifer has Arwen to help her with that.

It's good to see that Gandalf was able to explain (as best he could, anyway) what the children can and can't say about God and Jesus. I'm glad he's able to help them.

What errand, though, oh dear...I'm sure they'll be finding out. And whether Satan is Melkor or some lesser servant - clearly not Sauron, though - will take some working out.

I love this story!

Author Reply: Yeah, it's fortunate that he was able to help the McCloud children with that, isn't it?

Yeah, really! In working this story out, it's hard to decide who exactly Satan is. We know, from reading the Bible, who he is and how he fell, but working him into Tolkien's mythology is a challenge!
