A beautiful choice of hymns. Certainly there is need for solace and for grief to be expressed and dealt with productively.

Author Reply: Yes, there certainly is. I agree.

Aha! A recipe-fic for Dreamflower! And an interesting mix betwixt Book- and Movie-verse. (BTW--personally I prefer NKJ to NIV.)

Author Reply: You prefer the New King James Version, huh?

Yes, Dreamflower does love her recipe-fics! The only thing missing was the recipe itself. =)

At least Kaylee has her faith to strengthen and comfort her, and Bilbo as a companion. And the others are well guarded.

Author Reply: That is so true!

If I could make mushroom soup with Bilbo I might like it too! Though those onions...hmm...Anyway I love that Bilbo's now teaching Kaylee to cook! If they get out of this and back home safely I can just imagine how astonished the McClouds will be at how grown up their kids are! I loved that scene so, so much, so soft and gentle -

in stark contrast to the rest of the chapter, the darkness of Moria and Gandalf's fall. *shudders* I loved it too, just in a different way. It's so well done and I could feel the Company's varying emotions, particularly the children. I wonder what they'll think of Lothlorien - and Jennifer, I am so with you on the issue of bridges!!! Gah! Railings are necessary for me, lol!

Author Reply: The elder McClouds will indeed be astonished, won't they? =) I'm glad you love that scene. Yeah, I know what you mean about onions! [makes face]

I'm with you about bridges and railings! I'd be afraid to cross that particular bridge, let me tell you.

I love this chapter, and how the scenes with Bilbo and Kaylee were mixed with those of the Company. I'm so glad we get to see how Kaylee's faring back in Imladris!

I feel so bad that they have to leave Bill behind - I have to wonder how Bill will fare getting back on his own, but then that's another story entirely, isn't it? *wonders how Lindelea will handle that one, and if you'll be tackling it too*

And so into Moria...*shivers*

Author Reply: Uh, I think Dreamflower and I will leave the logistics of that to Lindelea! =)

I'm glad you've enjoyed this chapter. Yes, for now, the worst Kaylee has to contend with is worrying about her siblings.

Aha!

The hobbits are so hobbity. Merry brushing up his feet, and the doors and furniture so large and unwieldy for them, and the quantities of food, and the cousinly banter...

I was wondering how the collision of worlds would be handled. I've read the marvelous Don't Panic! and its sequel a couple of times each, where the new arrival knew the whole story, if I'm remembering right, and didn't understand the languages. In Fiondil's modern world, LOTR had never been published as a book, but it was real history from pre-historical times. And several other versions as well. This is the first I've seen where LOTR is a book/film but the characters only know of them and not what is in them. How curious it must be for the LOTR characters to hear themselves relegated to fairytale characters!

Author Reply: Yeah, it certainly is, isn't it? =) And I know how Fiondil handled it (I miss him! [sigh]

And it's true that unlike a humber of protagonists in "falling-into-Middle-earth" stories, the McClouds have never read any of Tolkien's works, and they've only seen bits and pieces of the movies on TV while channel-surfing. The elder McClouds, you see, are not into fantasy.

Author Reply: BTW, I posted a message in a review to Chapter 107 of your story early last month. Did you ever get the notification? I asked you a question in that review.

And speaking of questions, I've got another one for you: any chance you could track down Boz4PM and persuade her to read this story?

Hahaha!
I wonder if they’re in the SCA?
A very practical reaction!

Elrond proves himself "kind as summer" in his interactions with Lucy and Kaylee.

I have the advantage over those who read the first two chapters as they were posted, in that I can see a whole string of chapter titles. Disney songs! What fun!

Author Reply: Yep--Disney titles! =)

Sorry it took me so long to reply to your review. We're getting so few of them that when a review does get posted, it's easy for me to miss it.

Yeah, a very practical reaction, indeed! =) Ahd Elrond is certainly living up to his description, isn't he?

How well they have done together! Alas--Moria lies before them, now. Goodbye to Bill, poor pony.

Author Reply: Yeah, no kidding!

Oh, my. From the mundane to amazement. What on earth (or maybe not on earth?) has happened? What are the adults going to think?

And Kaylee left her backpack behind!

(Glad they're taking good care of the cute little puppy.)

Author Reply: I agree! =)

Author Reply: Hey, Lin! Fun to see you found our story! DF

Well, Caradhras certainly doesn't want them to build a snowman. :P

But this was a great chapter, even though the events that were depicted are terrible for the Fellowship. I'm glad they got down the mountain again in one piece! Although as for what comes next...*shivers*

And I adored the new "Tip and Tulip" story told by Bilbo! Tea with Bilbo is the best ever :) and even Lucy got her share! Yay! *melts at the image of Kaylee curled in Arwen's lap listening to the story* :)

Author Reply: Yeah, Kaylee really enjoyed that story, didn't she? She certainly enjoyed herself a lot more than her brothers and sister did! =) Thank goodness the Company got safely off the mountain.
