Interrupted Journeys 10: Finding the sun  by elliska 47 Review(s)

Wow! That is honestly my only reaction to this chapter. SO MUCH DRAMA and suspense and everything- you kept me at the edge of my seat!! It was so satisfying to see Mauril and Pelin dead, although I am worried that Fuilin is not the only servant out and about. Could there be other ones that we do not know of? I also have a bad feeling about Thranduil et al still on the hunt. Obviously, Thranduil does not die, but what about the others?

And I'm getting to a point where I am extremely nervous about Lindomiel. I desperately want to believe that she will always be there for Legolas in the background, and make it past The Hobbit and LOTR and sail with Thranduil, but gosh, I was so scared that Legolas would come back to the stronghold only to find that Fuilin had already infiltrated or something and had gotten to Lindomiel. Aghh! But that is for much later, and I am simply rambling my fears!

Great chapter! I'm so happy to see Tureden and Legolas get on better terms!

Author Reply: Sorry. I thought I already answered these!

I am so glad it came across that way. I can never judge these types of chapters, because I already know what is going to happen. None of it seems dramatic to me. :-)

You are so right.

You are so right, just not in the small details.

That is all I'm gonna say. :-)

Thank you so much for the reviews. I appreciate them so much!

Legolas has certainly redeemed himself for the earlier failure to maintain the security of the escape door from the cave. He is all warrior and definitely Thranduil's son as he works to capture or kill Mauril. I was drawn in with bated breath as you described the nerve wracking cliff jump and rush down the narrow trail. It was very descriptive and it drew me right into the chase. Legolas may have learned a lot about tracking on that adventure, but I think he may have also initiated some of the Palace guards into cliff diving. I liked the way that Legolas kept his cool in dealing with Tureden, basically telling him that the king's orders superceded anything else he was told. And being willing to sacrifice himself for the safety of the realm showed that Legolas has learned the true meaning of being the king's son. Now is the hard part for me, waiting until next Tuesday to get to the next chapter.

Author Reply: I was so certain I had answered reviews. I did it in my head, anyway. Sorry!

I was definitely trying to show Legolas was willing to do anything to redeem himself, so I'm glad that came across. I'm so glad it seemed tense to you. These things are so hard for me to judge.

I think he may have also initiated some of the Palace guards into cliff diving.

LOL!!

This made my day because it is almost verbatim what my chapter notes say this chapter needed to do. :-)

Sorry to make you wait until Wednesday! Like I said--holiday totally messed up my schedule!

Author Reply: Oops! And I forgot the most important part. Thanks so much for the reviews! I really appreciate them!

That was such a tense chase in the first part of the chapter - my heart was pounding by the end.

I'm glad that Legolas and Tureden have cleared the air and apologised to each other. They both made mistakes, but Tureden proved himself a good guard when he jumped off the cliff even after being injured.

Author Reply: Sorry, I would have sworn I'd answered reviews. The holiday messed me up.

I am so glad it came across as tense. Tension in battle chapters is always hard for me to judge.

They needed to apologize because they did both make mistakes. Tureden is a good guard. He just needed to adjust his perspective of who Legolas is, which, largely speaking, he has done.

Thank you so much for the reviews! I appreciate them so much!

Oh yay. I've been waiting today for this chapter.

That was a tense, daring chase scene with everyone trying to trap everyone else. I could feel the bodily strain on people as they crouched and were hit and jumped and caught. Thank goodness Legolas was wearing the mail, but I feel sorry for the redshirts who died. This was a bad moment in the history of the stronghold. I hope Fuilin is brought down. Even if Thranduil finds no extra footprints in the cave, word of its existence and location could have been passed along already. Sigh. I was comforted by the reminder that there were more doors, but still.

Tureden and Legolas seem to be coming closer to an understanding, which is good. We'll see what the Elven King has to say about all this.

I did like seeing Warrior Thranduil. We don't see that often enough.

Author Reply: I swear, in my head anyway, I answered reviews. Sorry!

I'm glad it came across as tense. These battle sorts of chapters are always impossible to judge because, of course, I know exactly how it will all play out so it is not tense to me at all. Definitely a bad moment.

Warrior Thranduil kicks butt. He makes a lot more appearances in the stories as we get closer to the Watchful Peace, which we are doing.

Thank you so much for the reviews, daw! I appreciate them so much!

So they've managed to dispose of a few more, good. However, I can't help but feel you're lulling us into a false sense of security... it can't be so easy to dispose of her servants, can it?

Yet another intriguing chapter. Can't wait to see what comes next.

Author Reply: Sorry, the holiday weekend messed me up. I would have sworn I had answered these.

You know me so well!

I am glad you enjoyed and hope you continue to do so! Thank you so much for the reviews. I really appreciate them!

Another really intense and great chapter! Now, Manadhien trusty servants have been cut down by two- although, as mentioned in some reviews already posted, I am nervous about Glilavan still being in the stronghold.

Legolas, Beior, and Galithal have all grown up so immensely! While it was heartbreaking for Beior to have to experience what it is like to kill another elf, I think it was an important lesson for him. I don't think he would have understood Legolas or Thranduil's reluctance to execute Manadhien or her servants if he had not killed Lagril. And he would have kept on blaming Legolas/ Thranduil for not executing the elves before his father was murdered. I feel bad for Beior, and quite frankly, everyone. I hope that they find some happiness and get over with this ordeal soon!

Author Reply: I am really glad it came across as intense. You should be worried about Glilavan. But that is all I will say about that. You will wait a bit longer to find out why. (I'm so mean).

They have grown up! Given their responsibilities, they are truly very nearly adults. Berior has always been by far the most sheltered and so he has had a hard time in this story. I unfortunately needed some understanding and got it in a very hard way.

One more chapter and then they will finally all find some sun. :-)

Thanks so much for the reviews! I appreciate them so much!

Tense chapter. I was going to comment that this Legolas struck me as the Legolas who went to Rivendell to take responsibility for losing Gollum, but I see you already commented on that, so I'll just mention some of my other fav parts. I had to laugh at Noruil's porcupine comment. That is a good, nasty visual and it says a lot about him that he's the only one laughing (well, him and me so what does that say).

**He is old enough to serve my court. And for this lack of judgment, he will be old enough to face it.**

That ought to tell Tureden all he needs to know about Legolas and the level of trust and responsibility the king holds him to. And it had to be a pretty sobering thing for Legolas to hear.

Galithil not giving Legolas his quiver back cracked me up. Talk about role reversal.

And I like that Thranduil and his wife are still flirty after all these years.

Great chapter. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Author Reply: I'm glad it came across as tense. And I was so pleased with the lines you picked out. They were some of my favorites as well. I am glad you are still enjoying and thank you so much for the reviews! I really appreciate them!

I'm so happy you started a new story. I love it so far.
I really don't like Tureden. I hope he gets what he deserves.

Author Reply: I am glad you found it and that you are enjoying it.

Tureden will definitely pay. :-) Count on Thranduil to see to that.

Thank you so much for the reviews! I really appreciate them!

Oo, I don't feel good about this at all! Glilavan hasn't left for the havens already? AND Legolas might have accidentally revealed the secret passage of the stronghold? Sounds like the perfect way for Marti to get her trusty servant back- could this all be a distraction, so that they have time to rescue Gliavan when every other guard is out in the forest looking for them?

Great chapter, as usual!

Author Reply: I'm not going to spoil this. But yes, you should be worried. I'm shutting my mouth.

I'm glad you are enjoying! Thanks so much for the reviews! I really appreciate them!
