OMG, what a wonderful drabble. I adore Jael's "Not Fade Away" stories, and this fits in so well. I had visions of Toad behind the wheel and Otter jumping out of his way. Then it was a simple transposition to put Thranduil behind the wheel. Obviously Legolas was far braver than my more sensible Otter. Loved it!

Author Reply: I'm so very glad you enjoyed my drabble. I think this is my favorite so far. I don't know about Legolas being braver than dear, sensible Otter, but he will probably ride in it again, just for love of his father, even if it is a hair-raising ride then too. :) Thanks for reviewing!

I needed this grin today! Thank you. :)

Author Reply: I'm very glad it made you grin. Sometimes we all just need a giggle. Thanks for letting me know that you liked it.

Yep, I would be a little leary of oaths, considering the consequences of the one he and his father and brothers swore.

Author Reply: Thanks for letting me know what you think about this, Lynda. I was really surprised when the Muse set this in Spain, but then again, I can't see Maglor staying terribly long in one place over the Ages. Thanks for reviewing it!

Oh, my goodness yes!
Poor Legolas, now we know why Haldir does the driving!

This is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL mental image. I wonder how Legolas will feel when the era of motorcar racing hits, as I bet Thranduil will enjoy that!

Author Reply: Oh, dear! that just perked up the muse! Maybe she'll give me another drabble about that. :) I'm so glad that you enjoyed this. Thank you!

Love it, love it, love it! Yes, he would love some of the new gadgets.

Author Reply: *giggle* I had so much fun writing this. I'm so glad you like it!

I always loved the way the succession of White Trees paralleled Gondor's tenuous grip on continuity. Thanks for this.

Author Reply: When I first sat down to draft this drabble, all I had was the sense that he had the seed in his pocket, always gently fingering it, almost like a good luck charm. The prayer itself came as I wrote, and I'm very happy with how it turned out. It was fun to research the Kings of Gondor so I could pick out who it was who put it there to wait for Aragorn to find it.

Thanks for reviewing.

Heh heh heh. This is classic! Fatty was right to dodge--I'd be chasing after him with a cast-iron skillet if I were Estella!

Author Reply: Me too! :) Eventually, I need to pull all my Estella and Fatty drabbles into one place and fill in the gaps. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I like this take on Faramir's isolation--reminding us that he's not the only one to be ignored in favor of an older brother, through starting with Erchirion. And I also like the idea that something as sad as that can create a stronger bond between those who have to experience it together.

Author Reply: Celeritas, you've just given me a glimmer of an idea for a future drabble using Erchirion and Faramir. *grin* We'll see what the imagination develops from it.

While most fanfic interpretations of Imrahil show him as "Father of the Year" compared to Denethor, in this interpretation, I see Denethor and Imrahil raised up in the patriarchal society in which primogeniture rules. If you are the firstborn son, you get it all, and the spares get the crumbs. The boys aren't left behind out of malice, but because, frankly, they simply aren't as important as their elder brothers.

Thanks for reviewing! :)
