Bilbo's Shire, A to Z  by Larner 81 Review(s)
SunnyReviewed Chapter: 24 on 6/27/2010
Interesting way of getting the boys to dig a hole for the new tree. Hopefully they will be pleased with their "treasure" ;-)

Author Reply: Oh, indeed, Sunny. A bit roundabout, perhaps, but effective and fun to plan out, heh!

How bittersweet to know what the future holds....

I'm enjoying seeing so much of Bilbo in these ficlets.

Author Reply: Yes, we do know what will happen. I'm rather grateful that at this point neither Bilbo nor Frodo does.

And it's been a joy to write the old dear!

Nitpick: "...each with a viscous smile." Don't you mean vicious?

Author Reply: Actually, I chose the word I meant. I wanted to indicate their smiles were cloyingly syrupy in nature as well as somewhat oily. I suppose I could have used "vapid," but that indicates mindlessness, while I see these young ladies as being particularly predatory and calculating in nature. To capture Bilbo's ward and apparent heir to Bag End and the Hill would have been quite the coup for any one of them.

Thanks!

lol! Those two Bagginses really are like in mind whenever mischief is concerned. :)

Author Reply: Blame Kaylee for this one! She's the one who reminded me where it was we first heard the name of Abelard, after all! Heh! Glad it gave you a giggle!

Ah! I'd forgotten Bilbo gave Adelard an umbrella stand.

Reminds me of our lost/spare/mystery umbrella collection at work. It would grow until I would beg the staff to take them: and then we'd get a downpour and there weren't any on hand....

So what did Frodo do about getting a *new* umbrella stand?

Author Reply: Well, he obviously would need such a thing, I'd think! Heh!

With my school its coats. I am certain LOTS of mothers must have been frustrated each year when their children came home without their coats, having left them in the gym or on the playground or the music room and not taking the time to fetch them later or check in the office when prompted. Some of them would be brand new and lovely things, and still no one would claim them.

Thanks so, and thank Kaylee, too!

Tricksy ring! It must have come to loathe chains. lol!

Author Reply: I'm certain you are right about that, GamgeeFest. Thanks!

AntaneReviewed Chapter: 20 on 6/23/2010
No wonder he started keeping it on a chain! That's scary to think it could have been found.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I know, Antane. It was a tricksy thing, after all!
