I love the reversal of outward roles here Antane although we all know that the two friends each look after the other in so many ways.

Author Reply: It was kinda fun to have Frodo be the comforter and aider this time. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Definitely a friendship born in heaven. Lovely Antane.

A sweet death and birth into the next life.

Author Reply: I really can't imagine them having anything other! :)

What a dear, loving story. Frodo healed, full of joy, and treasured, and passing into the next adventure in the arms of his brother.

Author Reply: Thank you, my dear! Glad you enjoyed! :)

It could be wonderful to find Bag End copied for them in the Undying Lands, but I think I personally will stay with my summer house, a gentle place plainly divorced from the life they'd known in Middle Earth, a reminder they have been transplanted.

But I can certainly understand Sam's delight in the stars overhead and the rich soil underneath, and the delight in soil and flowers at being under the hands of such a master of the craft! Yes!

Author Reply: Sorry to be so late in responding here - I love the idea of being 'transplanted' which they certainly were, but also a Bag End in the West would help perhaps in the beginning to get over the shock, though it would feel 'queer' also as Frodo said so maybe you would right to have a place totally different. I wish we knew more about their time there!

This is so full of joy. I love the idea that the garden 'tolerated' Frodo's efforts, but was truly excited to be tended by Sam. What a lovely image.

Author Reply: My apologies for responding so late here, but so glad you enjoyed!

. For the rest of time, he read stories or made them up and Sam just looked and listened at his softly glowing friend and basked in the love that poured out of him.

This is very gentle and loving. I do adore tender, hobbity care. :)

Oh this is so sweet! I love this:

But the stick tapping soon began again and it began to be accompanied by foot tapping as well. Bilbo looked up again and found his nephew’s eyes already
on him. "May I be excused?" Frodo asked in delightfully accented and perfectly pronounced Sindarin and then Bilbo realized what he had been silently practicing
to say.

Sam looked up from his studies. He loved hearing Mr. Frodo speak Elvish. Bilbo restrained another sigh and smiled instead.

"Yes, Frodo, you may," he responded in Sindarin. And then he turned to Sam and spoke in Westron. "And you may be, too, Samwise, for I don’t think I could
keep Frodo indoors for another moment and you can keep him better entertained than his lessons right now."

LOL! Sly Frodo, that's just great!

And I think you captured Frodo's character especially well during the rainstorm; all these reactions seem like exactly what he would do, telling Sam stories to try and distract him (though Bilbo had better give them some lessons about surviving in the wild, under a tree is a very dangerous place to be when there's lightning, I was afraid something was going to happen!), and then turning Sam immediately to see how ridiculous they both looked when they got back inside. :)

And of course the end is very sweet, love how you used the line from the song.
Happy birthday again! *hugs*

Author Reply: Ammelda! A review from you!!! It's like another present entirely! :) :) *hugs* Very cool and hantanyel for all your kind words. I have thought on and off for a long time of 'fleshing out' more this memory of Sam's from Worth Fighting For and finally got around to doing it. If the muse likes, this will be start of a series of their love from memories scattered throughout stories, but we shall see. I really have to focus on the book though and I think the muse understands that. Now you have a lot more to review from previous stories too! *cracks wet noodle over your back because I don't want to use a whip* :)

Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Your Piptane :)

How sweet!

That particular friendship will never ever die, although it will be tested on the quest. But only to be even stronger in the end!

I wish you a very happy birthday :)

Author Reply: Indeed. That love was indestructible and thank God! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes. I'm glad you enjoyed my gift!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
