Distractions  by GamgeeFest 222 Review(s)
AndreaReviewed Chapter: 2 on 3/3/2009
Wow! Vinca's pranks were very clever!

Now, Merry has to find a good first prank, which should not be too obvious, for Frodo is also very clever ;-)

And I'm really interested in the progress in the decorating business.

Author Reply: Pervinca didn't get her reputation as master prankstress from nowhere. She taught Pippin many valuable lessons, either as a target or a happy observer of her machinations.

The problem with Merry's prank is that it has to be both obvious (so Frodo will know he has been pranked) and not too obvious (so Frodo won't suspect something else might be amiss). Telling Sam his plans might not be the best strategy. ;)

When I remodeled my home, it was pretty much Murphy's Law. Thankfully, the King's House is in much better repair than my humble little abode. They pretty much only have to worry about cosmetics, so it shouldn't be *too* frustrating for them. ;)

"Homey" - that cracked me up. And I like the double-prank theory... interesting!

Author Reply: hehe Merry has a way of hitting things on the nose, and still manages to remain charming. :D Oh, there will be conspiracies all over the place soon enough. Merry has no idea what's been unleashed by that little dinner convo. ;)

What fun. I do love it when Sam is in on things, and of course he only has his master's best interests at heart! :)

Author Reply: Sam is going to be busy the next few weeks! Helping Merry and Pippin while simultaneously trying to protect Frodo, and now he has to spy on the king! A gardener's work is never done. ;)

Oh this is delightful on so many levels. Of course, the best part is the reason behind the conspiracy--not simply to annoy Frodo or "get him back" for making Merry streak as a faunt, but "for his own good"--a conspiracy that Merry, Sam and Pippin have been engaged in almost as long as they've been alive.

I loved Pervinca's plot against Everard--that's hilarious!

It will be interesting to see what "obvious" prank Merry comes up with for Frodo--and whether Frodo actually believes that's the whole thing or not. And I look forward to Sam trying to dig out information from Strider--who naturally is antsy about the arrival of his secret bride!

Not to mention curious about the redecoration of the apartments--how is Aragorn going to clue them in on Arwen's preferences without giving away his secret?

*grin* You do love complicated plots! And I love reading them!

Author Reply: The Quest made all the hobbits mature and grow in ways they couldn't have imagined at the onset, but they are still hobbits. While Merry would much rather take back his promise to prank his dear Frodo, he isn't about to disappoint!

That Pervinca! I can understand Merry's incredulity. Maybe Everard really is just a glutton for punishment. ;)

Merry will come up against some unexpected roadblocks. Little does he know that he's caught up in another conspiracy entirely!

Aragorn has a plan for that - which occured to me upon reading this review, so thank you for the inspiration! :D

This little bunny has quite gotten away from me, and I'm having lots of fun chasing him! ;)

Merry is a sly one. This promises to be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to finding out what will happen next.

Author Reply: Merry is, but he's not the only fox. He'll have plenty to distract him too. ;) Next part should be up soon! Thanks for reading, dear! It's so wonderful to hear from you again. :D

Ah, here we go again. Someone is going to wind up naked. LOL
I wonder who will get the honour this time? I'm looking forward to Merry's plotting and Frodo's counter-plotting.

Oh, and I love the "Field of Dreams" bit with Pippin, (“I’m sure if they built it, people would come,” Pippin said. “The same holds true for golf courses.” )

Author Reply: hehehe Now, really, the hobbits can prank each other without someone winding up nekkid. Of course, it wouldn't be quite as much fun. ;)

Pippin is a visionary. *imagines Aragorn looking over city wall to see long line of hobbits approaching* :D

Sounds very interesting. I'm off to read the first chapter now.

Author Reply: Well, there's plenty of sneaking around right now and some guests thrown in for good measure. We'll see what comes of it. :D

This ought to prove quite entertaining and distracting toward all--as well as possibly somewhat terrifying! When a Brandybuck and a Baggins square off, it can be touch and go as to how many other lives are going to be touched upon, and how deeply! Heh!

Now, to see the challenge met!

Author Reply: Distractions all around - terrifying is yet to be seen. hehe True, true, but they are more mature now than the last time they squared off, so things shouldn't get (too) out of hand. ;)

Okay, waiting to see where this leads! Was thinking of Blue Wizard Blues the other day, actually.

Author Reply: With Merry at the helm, this can go anywhere! ;) Were you? *is flattered* There will be some honorable mentions, and a few characters who will materialize for the first time in the flesh, so to speak.

This is shaping up to be great fun. Each hobbit's personality was captured perfectly in dialogue. Pass me a lemon bar, please! Hee.

Author Reply: Frodo and Merry at war can be a scary thing - but also amusing. We'll see what happens once things start moving. ;D Lemon bars - Frodo would be mad *not* to enjoy them. :)
