Yep, confusion and darkness reinforcing each other. What a moment for the Noldor!

I am finally here... Good job from light and routine light to an unusual darkness and the second death in Aman...what a shock to the family...a prelude for the changes that will come unstoppble now!

Maedhros in his way was as destructive as his father, if perhaps more humane about it. And he sees Maglor one step closer to his final doom of isolation and eternal banishment from all that had ever been dear to him.

A wonderful beginning for the family, after all. And love the descriptions of the farm and their reactions to it.

And I rejoice the agreement has been made to cease hostilities for a time. These two need that.

I loved how you began this chapter. I had to do a double-take - just such love and joy in Maglor's house - took my breath away.

But then - the coming of Maedhros is like the coming of doom. Well written. "his laugh a little to hearty, smile a little too broad. Somehow reminds me of Saruman.

The horror of the words - too difficult even for an adult to fathom or swallow, let alone boys barely grown.

How does one go on in life when blow after blow befalls your heart, your mind, your soul. What Elros and Elrond survived was unimaginable, but what Maglor must survive is even worse.

I read this at work and had to blink way too many times to still the tears. Beautifully written chapter.

This was the broken vow that is the saddest to me. As you showed, Tolkien says somewhere (can't remember immediately) Elrond loved Maglor. To have to give them up and go for something he had no further interest in, after everything else he lost, has always made him a tragic figure to me. This chapter was powerfully sad.

Oh, this is gut-wrenching. Poor Maglor; and the kids; their little family wrenched apart for the second time. I think Maedhros could have waited; he didn't really need Maglor to go after the Silmarils; in a few years Elrond and Elros would have probably wanted to seek out Gil-galad on their own, which would have been far easier on the boys and Maglor...

Beautifully written, especially Maedhros offering Maglor a Silmaril of his own - to Maglor, the sons of Earendil were his jewels; and no Silmaril can replace them.

Oh dear. This was heartbreaking. It really was like the parting of children and a parent. The scene with Gil-galad was cool though. I liked the picture of his campsite and his ranged warriors and he himself.

Catching up again... I love Maglor with Elrond and Elros. Their interactions are exactly what I pictured. I always thought this part of Maglor's history was the saddest. His actions in taking in Elrond and Elros showed that his heart was not at all in the quest for the Silmarils any longer. And clearly he was a good guardian for them given how they turned out (and you did a great job showing that here). That makes his future all the more sad. This was a great chapter!

Another heart-breaking chapter - I particularly liked the beginning paragraphs - especially Maedhros pain.

It is interesting to see Elros and Elrond - especially in this setting.

Am looking forward to the next chapter.
