Misplaced Blame  by Clever Hobbit 31 Review(s)

Do any of us think straight when we are upset? Lots of twisted thinking going on here. I still remember the expression on Denethor's face when he saw the beacon lit. It made me shiver but I thought that he had an idea of Gandalf's part in the affair and did not think beyond that. However he was definitely stern and indictive enough for the reaction you have given him.

I found myself wincing at Merry's implied criticism of Gandalf but it is justified. I hope that we are going to see how he feels about this. Not that I can see there was much he could do about it at the time. Get these people talking to each other before it is too late for Tarannon! If anyone needs the healing hands of the king he does. And deserves them too.

Am now out of internet range of a week! How will I contain myself?

Poor Tarannon, first to be branded, then not allowed to talk or be spoken too. Pippin must help him. Maybe do some explaining to the king, Aragorn should be able to help. Think of something Pippin, hey go to Gandalf, it was his idea.

Oh no indeed. I've been reading this very well written story and was wondering when Pippin would find out about poor Tarannon. I do hope Pippin goes to Aragorn about this. Unlike Denethor, the King's Justice is very different.

Looking forward to seeing the direction you take this in next. :o)

'Oh No' indeed! There are a lot of people dealing with an awful lot of misery and guilt here. Not constructive criticism except for a plea from a very impatient reader - more soon please! ;)

Great story, I am really enjoying reading it. Poor Tarannon, he is not having a good week. One day he good to his job, the next thing he is in prison, branded, escaped and now sick. Looking forward to more.

Um, sorry, I sent the last review before I could check my facts; it's been awhile since I actually read the book. *embarrassed smile* oops. I'll have to go see if I have things straight…

I enjoyed what I've read so far, Clever Hobbit. A fun idea to base a story on; I've always liked that section in ROTK where Aragorn pardons the soldier who defied Denathor and thus helped save Faramir from the pyre, so this tale attracted my attention as well.

You do a good job making Tarannon sympathetic. I felt sorry for the guy. He's lucky they didn't brand him on the forehead. :P Wouldn't it be possible to wear a bandage around his hand all the time, or a glove to hide the scar?

I skimmed some sections in the last two chapters after you switched from Tarannon's point of view; I'll come back and read more (in depth, heh) later.

As for constructive criticism, plot-wise and content wise so far I don't have any major complaints. At times the writing style and comments or phrases sound a little too modern for Middle Earth, lol, (for example: "kicking into healer mode" ) but I don't have time to do a full critique at the moment. (If I have time later, I'll try and come back and give you more detailed feedback.)

Anyway, I like it so far, look forward to more.
