| Oh I was so disappointed to see the complete tag on the end of this Shirebound! And no little side trips into the heart of Morder? :( But then Frodo doesn't need to go so that is good. I like the new name for the tower and the fact that some of the guard would like to work there. I really enjoyed taking this trip with you all. Now, Legolas and Gimli? | What a sweet and inventive tale. I so enjoyed the exploration of Mordor after Sauron, and the Fellowship's reactions to the place. In this last chapter, I particularly loved the theme of renewal--that both land and people can come back, and be healed. It makes me more appreciative of King Elessar's offer to give the former slaves of Morder the lands around Lake Nurnen to be their own; this had seemed a fairly skimpy offering to me. Now I'm imagining the land to be as lush as the Shire, and Elessar's generosity and kingly wisdom is happily restored. Cheers! | Oh, Shirebound, I'm so sorry to see this end. But how I loved the whole thing-and you can bet I'll be rereading to leave a real final review very soon! This one is definitely going on my favourites list. This last chapter was so beautiful and perfect. I love everyone's reflections, and the thought of Mordor-ahem-Minas Estel :) becoming a land of beauty and fertility gives a sense of peace and contentment. | *sigh*grin*sigh* What a lovely ending for Frodo and his friends; it's such a shame that this insight could not have endured the setbacks of seeing the Shire devestated, of Saruman's curse, and the anniversary illnesses. But perhaps this time of healing and renewal aided him later, as he came to terms with things in the West. I would like to hope so. Of course, this could also be the start of a lovely AU, where he is able to hold on to this healing, and stay in Middle-earth... Author Reply: It was such a joy to end this story with a *grin*! | I like how you wove together the history of the northern kingdom with what may (hopefully!) happen in Mordor. Beautiful and fertile lands in that place would be the ultimate victory. And it's nice to see light-hearted hobbits at the end! Thanks for ending it on a happy note (but really, who would expect you *not* to?) :D :D Author Reply: Thank you so much. | Oh, lovely ending! Everyone found some healing - Alcaren wearing his ring again, 'Minas Estel.' I like the idea of war-weary soldiers helping to reclaim the land - and love the idea that with loving care, Mordor may eventually become something like the Shire. A really hopeful ending. Though I have the feeling Aragorn knows more about that card game than any of the hobbits realize - having served in Gondor as Thorongil for so many years. "Shuffling the cards expertly." *snicker* Merry and Pippin won't know what hit them! Author Reply: I knew from the very beginning of this story that I wanted to bring healing, closure, or at least something positive to think about to as many characters as possible. And yes, I wonder if Pippin realizes what he's started here! :D | |

These lands will be settled and at peace.” ...which of course reminds me of jodancingtree's marvelous tale Following the other Wizard. And I love Frodo's idea with Minas Estel!
