A new story! You made my day....I've been away for a bit...so this is a very lovely homecoming surprise! I just loved how you described Legolas with the children and Mistress Pearl and hiding from all his advisors! Poor fellow!
I can't wait to see the next chapter! :)

So, Hobbits of the Shire serve the Lord Legolas and succor him when he has to hide from protocol, eh? Lovely!

Was afraid Fastred had been taken by some enemy. Glad the apparent spell on the glade was intended, apparently, only to protect it from profanation. Hope they find the horse all right.

Sanctuary he still thinks to find, does he? Interesting.

Ah, so it sounds like Legolas will eventually be escorting Fastred to Rohan, as I expected. But I don't mind tarrying for awhile first -- it's something to see Legolas as a lord, with all the courtly courtesies and etiquette that entails. And I'm glad to see Bandy again -- I missed him. But Pearl is here as well? And is ill? Then why isn't Pippin with her? I suppose he's busy being Thain, but I would have thought he'd insist on accompanying her. Ah, but you have a better idea of the real responsibilities of leadership, even in the
Shire.

As always, this is a pleasure to read. I shall look forward to more.

Oh joy! Bandy!Bandy!Bandy!Bandy! *grin* And Pearl. Oh, I just *love* her! The picture of the Elven prince with his head in the little hobbit matron's lap was so sweet! What a delight! But...what's the matter with Bandy's mum? I do hope it's not too serious.

Poor Legolas, just trying to get some breakfast and waylaid over and over and over along the way! But I knew that the second he told Bandy he was hungry, then all would be well. Bandy would never let his Master go hungry, and woe betide anyone else who would have tried to stop them then!

*sigh*

Now I have to wait another week...

What a lovely story! You have such an intriguing way of writing - very medieval. I'm not surprised that Legolas took Fastred in, but neither am I surprised that things did not turn out as Fastred expected. I am sure that he will find himself learning a thing or two about responsibility and duty during his stay with the Elves. That he thinks Legolas spends all of his time fishing and climbing trees shows that there is still much that he doesn't understand. I look forward to watching Fastred's maturation unfold. Oh, and Mistress Pearl and Bandy? Too wonderful! I look forward to seeing more of them as well.

Hi!

This chapter was very funny and had me relax a bit about this story. As a rule I am not very interested in stories how insubordinate children are tamed and broken to society after they show the proper repentance, since I hate the moralistic and paedagogically raised finger in these things telling how much better it is if the children follow the grown-ups (yawn), and I was beginning to fear this story would be solely about *that*. But this chapter was a bit of fresh air, showing everything I love about the Green Knight universe! Legolas' hopeless attempts to escape his busy subjects and reach breakfast was very funny, and Bandorbas was like a gust of fresh air! Very lovely! Plese write more soon!

Mae Govannen Le Rouret,

What a wonderful chapter (and story). I definitely enjoyed seeing Legolas's world at home & how trying to do a simple thing such as get a bite to eat can turn into a comedy routine! Some times I think of elves as these perfect beings who never have to worry about having a bad day. I think the Legolas, Kaimelas & Galas need a few more eflings around to drive them crazy. (humm maybe Eldarion could run away too...)

Until next time,

Your fan, Eliza

Oh, poor little Fastred! Kaimelas certainly made him see the error of his ways! And being a child of good conscience and of a loyal loving nature, he did indeed provide himself with his own punishment!

I like Legolas' solution to those that come and claim sanctuary with him. Very wise, practical and compassionate. And I have a feeling that Legolas will be sending a letter of his own to Faramir and Eowyn, and perhaps one to Eomer in Rohan as well.

I think young Fastred is going to have a number of lessons to learn, and Legolas will be an excellent teacher.

Oh--and by the way, I have missed your lovely style, and am thrilled to see it again!

H'm, this is curious. I wonder what Legolas knows, that he takes the boy in so readily. I would think he'd send him straight back to his parents, or perhaps accompany him to Rohan. I'm still not sure that he won't go to Rohan with Fastred, but that doesn't look to be happening any time soon. Still, it seems that he's implying Fastred will be able to stay there for an indefinite time, and I think that unlikely. H'm. I shall look forward to seeing how all of this works out. I am glad that Legolas didn't really take a switch to him, though. I can't imagine an Elf doing such a thing to his own child - Tolkien did say that Elf children require little correction. Legolas seems to adopt mortal customs as he chooses, and ignore the ones he dislikes, and I cannot imagine him taking to that one.
